I had a satin skirt sitting in my closet for months with a broken zipper, and during a midday walk from work, I came across Uptown Cleaners and decided to give them a try. I'm so glad I did They did a wonderful job fixing the zipper, and my skirt looked good as new. While I was there, I noticed they also clean and repair Ugg boots which immediately caught my attention because I was desperate for help with mine I have a pair of 12-year-old OG Uggs (back when the quality was top tier), and they've managed to keep them looking pristine over the years. Since that first visit, I've brought in three collared shirts for dry cleaning and they all came back perfectly pressed and fresh. I've also dropped off another pair of Ugg boots for cleaning and am currently waiting for them to be ready. One thing to note: they use an outside vendor for Ugg cleaning, so turnaround time is about four weeks due to scheduled drop-offs and pickups. While the work is high quality, the pricing is definitely on the steeper side compared to other cleaners and shoe repair shops in the area. That said, the women who work here are incredibly kind, professional, and provide wonderful service which goes a long way Overall, a reliable neighborhood spot if you're looking for quality work and friendly service, especially for specialty items. read more

Had gone here for years but quality of service seems to be decreasing while prices are fairly steep. Recommend trying elsewhere for basic tailoring services. read more

Great service the past two times I've been back in 2020/2021! Enjoyed seeing owner Michelle, after moving to San Jose, CA in spring 2018, to Plano, TX in spring 2019, and back to NoVA/DC on Election Day in November 2020, because the DFW Metroplex thought COVID was a "hoax," before it killed my dad on October 18, 2021, forcing me to move back to my hometown of Denver, CO. read more

They are extremely kind and helpful. Anytime I had an emergency situation, they were able to help immediately. This is my go to tailor.

I went to this venue for dry cleaning, and an alteration for a suit jacket. When I arrived, measurements were taken quickly and efficiently. There was a five day turnaround for them to be completed, which I felt was a fair amount of time. The employees are very friendly and are upfront with the dates and times for completion. The prices were a little high, with each dry cleaning costing around seven dollars per item, but they did a good job and there's no denying the quality. The alteration was perfect and I would recommend going to this place if you need your clothes altered. read more

Im new to the area and this is definitely my new dry cleaner. I had tried a few others but was unhappy. Uptown was able to make alterations in a jiff and the prices were excellent. I will be a regular customer. read more

Here's the reason why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 (as this is not a place I'd ever go to again). After mangling my new expensive suit, they initially charged me, the lady not the morning there who was ice cold and didn't apologize. The lady in the afternoon is nice and gave me some cash (about 1/3 value) Here's why I decided to write a rare review. I was also offered a $30 credit. Today uptown cleaners showed up as a charge. I'd pay not to argue with them anymore. My first cleaning job came back smelling like rotten fish. All had to be redone. No apology. So I guess it's my fault for going back. There are tons of dry cleaners out there and this is only one I've even had (multiple) issues with. read more

I wish I would've read the reviews before I started using their service. I have been a customer for over 2 years and tend to be one of those "loyal customers". As many others have written about their experience - all is well until you have an issue. I picked up my drycleaning today and there were two holes in my shirt. They ridiculously insisted that they were there when I dropped them off and that they had noticed right away and hadn't cleaned my shirt. However, my shirt had clearly been cleaned and freshly starched. Look at the picture attached. Same size, evenly spaced holes. Clearly from some sort of machine. Now, the long story. I am extremely meticulous about my clothing. I don't ever wear a dress shirt without a jacket. If I backed into some odd machine that made random pea sized holes in my shirt I would have the same holes in my jacket. More importantly, when I arrived to pick up my clothing, I was told that they had found holes in a shirt. They presented a shirt - it wasn't mine. They later found my shirt which happened to have similar holes to the shirt the originally presented (randomly two shirts have the same type of holes??) but then went on to insist that they had nothing to do with it. This isn't about the cost of the shirt. It's about the principal of an owner refusing to take ownership of their mistake. I read the other reviews with similar experiences and am validated by the clear pattern of behavior. Validated yet disappointed. Don't take the chance. This was just a white dress shirt. It could've been a favorite piece of clothing or an expensive suit and they have a clear pattern of refusing to take ownership. They'll never see another piece of my clothing read more

Great location, very friendly and professional customer service. My clothes are always ready on time and clean/pressed very well. Highly recommend! read more

Uptown Market is a new drycleaners and alterations place underneath the new, opulent Gramercy at Metropolitan Park apartment in Pentagon City. Usually, I consider drycleaners to just be commodities where I just pick it based on price or location. Uptown Cleaners is staffed by a very nice woman that remembers names of all her customers. The cleaning is done offsite, so it's pretty standard. Where Uptown Cleaners shines is in the alterations department. The woman that works here is excellent at alterations, and really keeps the focus on the customer's needs. She doesn't nickel and dime, she just wants you to look good in your clothes. Uptown Cleaners is a bit on the expensive side, but in this case, I believe I am getting what I pay for: quality. read more

I agree with David K that alterations are this cleaner's high point, and will also say service. The owner is really friendly and always has a smile to offer when I come in. After a few visits she gave me an express bag which is nice because I can just drop things off quickly. I have also had pants altered here and they came out really well. Since the place isn't too busy like some other places I have been, I didn't feel rushed in getting measured. Like most other dry cleaners in the area it is a bit pricey, but I have dropped off some of my nicer garments here and they come out well. I don't trust everyone with my formal dresses and such, but have never had any problems at Uptown. read more

Dry cleaners are on every corner, it seems, and they all do more or less the same thing, right? Sometimes you find one that may mess up your stuff, or one that's overpriced, but all-in-all dry cleaning is what it is. Not so with Uptown Cleaners. I recently transfered my business here since it's the closest one to where I live. While it's not a "plant-on-premises" type of dry cleaners (i.e. they don't do the work there), they do an awesome job. Most recently I took in a suit and a few dress shirts. I mentioned that one of the large suite buttons was coming off and asked if they could securely sow it back on (that was $2 extra, fine by me). I also mentioned that one of the buttons on a shirt had cracked and asked if they could replace that as well (which they did not charge me for!). Upon getting my clothes back, not only did they fix the suit button, they replaced many other buttons on all my shirts that were worn, cracked, or otherwise in need of attention...all for free! That's service. I'd highly recommend Uptown Cleaners if you're ever in need on a dry cleaners in the Pentagon / Crystal City area. read more

Prices aren't bad, and the owner is super friendly. When the meters outside the cleaners were coin operated, she would always have a tin of coins available for customers so they didn't get tickets while dropping off or picking up clothes. read more

Uptown Cleaners - Laundry Services Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

Location - 4 Convenient, bright, organized, and clean. Limited parking though. Customer Service - 5 Friendly staff. And the free lollipops and tiny pot of coins to use for the meter are a nice touch! Prices - 2 It cost me $100 to dry-clean 18 pieces. That's more than five dollars a piece on average! I think this is waaaaaaaaaay too much, particularly where (a) there's no loyalty/discount program to help mitigate these high prices, (b) this isn't one of those "organic" cleaners to my knowledge, and (c) the clothes come back on super cheap hangers and, where necessary, safety pins. I had high hopes for Uptown Cleaners, but alas my search continues...because Uptown has cleaned me out! read more

I love Uptown Cleaners. I used to live in the Gramercy building so started going there because it was so convenient. Now that I live off of King & 395 there's a dry cleaner next door but I still drive the 4 miles to Uptown Cleaners. They do a great job and the places is super clean. Owner & staff are very friendly and make sure you're happy with the job. Not open on Sundays though! Prices are about the same as everywhere else decent around here. read more

Save your money and wash your own clothes! I was so happy to know that my new building had a dry cleaner right down the street. After a couple visit we noticed buttons starting to fall off of the dress shirts. At least one button completely crumbling on every single shirt. I took them back and they told me.." oh ya thats because we only launder unless you specifically ask for dry cleaning." I thought dry cleaning was what a dry cleaning business did?! I could wash my own clothes. Several Hugo Boss dress shirts ruined, I am very disappointed. read more

Quality place. Everyone who works there is friendly, service is quick. It's a little expensive, but you pay for convenience, right? It's right below my building, so I send quite a bit of laundry to them. It comes back quickly and without any problems. Not sure what else to say about a dry cleaners... read more

These guys do an amazing job with dry cleaning and alterations. Out of all the places we've tried to date, they are the absolute BEST!!!

Worst dry cleaners ever! They tried to re-crease a suit jacket, then said I did it. Then she used the excuse that it must've been another cleaners. Again, no. I been dumb enough only to use this one. There are better places. Avoid this place. read more

I came in expecting good things from Uptown Cleaners, as they are the highest rated dry cleaner in the area. Backstory: Two days ago I gave them 7 shirts and 2 pants to clean, the total came to $24.45. When I came to pick them up, to my surprise, they jacked up the price to $30.75! The lady at the counter told me something about the buttons on 2 of my shirts being different, and that they had to be dry cleaned a different way, therefore I was being charged more than I was originally told. I was "bait and switched" by Uptown Cleaners; I was charged more money than I had originally agreed upon. I mentioned to the lady at the counter that it wasn't fair of them to tell me one price, then INCREASE that price when I come back to pick up my clothes. I also told her that she should honor the earlier price of $24.45, regardless, because I was given that price when I stopped by two days prior. She didn't agree, and I ended up having to pay the increased price of $30.75 to get my clothes back. It was unethical of them to bait and switch me, especially when it was THEIR FAULT for not classifying what "type of shirts" I had beforehand. They did not believe my customer satisfaction, and have lost my business. Sorry. read more

If i could give them zero stars I would. I've been going to this place for a little over a year and they've done decent work, but nothing remarkable. I would often get dress shirts or dress slacks that were either over-starched or still had spots on them, or something else. But, what prompted me to write my FIRST Yelp review is the ignorance exemplified by the employees. I gave them a 34x32 unaltered dress pant to dry clean. When I received the pant, it felt tight and short. When I measured the length of the pant, it was .75 inches shorter than the original size. I went back to the dry cleaners and explained to her that the pant was shorter than when I initially gave her the pants. She immediately claimed that it's impossible and the material my pants are made out of doesn't shrink. I told her to measure it, and she refused, multiple times. She then asked me to try the pants on, which I did. I pointed to my ankles (which you could see now) and she said no it's fine and that with dress shoes this is normal. I asked her again to measure the pants, and she still refused. I continued to press on this, and she finally relented, and measured. She saw that the pants were shorter than the size listed on the label. STILL she said it's impossible and not her fault. I told her that she needs to fix this asap, as it was an expensive suit and I currently only have one other. She said she'll see what she can do. She ended up pressing the pants, which stretched them out a bit, and fit a little better length-wise, but still a bit short. She again claimed that this material doesn't shrink and that I'm imagining things, AND THEN PROCEEDED TO SAY THAT I MUST HAVE GAINED WEIGHT AND THAT'S WHY THEY FEEL WEIRD. Regardless of whether I have gained weight from four days before to the day I gave her the pants (which I haven't), I did not suddenly become 6' 1''. Very very disappointed and even though it's the closest dry cleaners to me, I will not be going anymore. read more

I really want to like this place, and full disclosure, this review is of prices alone. I have yet to pick up my first order at Uptown Cleaners but I will simple never go back. To help people make an informed decision about drycleaning options, please sell a kidney before you even set foot in the store. $5 for a woman's blouse, $6,25 for a woman's blouse with a lining and $6.25 for a woman's top because it is white?? I've never heard of such a thing! $7 for a pair of pants-not horrible. Here's the rub...woman's dresses: $11.75 for a dress with a lining and $9.75 for cotton dresses without a lining. These prices are preposterous! Stupid me for not clarifying on the phone the nuances within each category of clothing. Never again. read more

The hours are terrible, they barely understand English, the break my suit buttons and to top it off, they ruined my $400-500 tuxedo shirt. All I want are clean and pressed shirts and suits. Is this too much to ask for? I might increase the number of stars if they do the right thing and replace the shirt. We'll see if they do the right thing. read more

I will never go back to this cleaners. I had one experience and it will be my last experience. I have been looking for a decent dry cleaner near me for quite some time. I am happy I found this place. I've used the tailoring, shoe repair, and dry cleaning services here and have been satisfied enough to come back twice. Prices are good and they are reasonable on times. I always get my dress shirts and pants on time. Thank you!

Great location (I live right upstairs); friendly service; I agree that it is a little pricey, but I think that about pretty much ALL full-price dry cleaning stores in the area. Great service and decent prices. The location is easy to get to and the clothes are ready when they say they will be. As previous reviewer mentioned, this place ships out the dry cleaning and does the alterations in-house. The dry cleaning is expensive which is normal for the area (Arlington at large, and Crystal/Pentagon City specifically). I have had several things altered here and they do great work. I've only done dry cleaning once, and they did good work (though a small statistical sample). I see several people with low stars who seem to feel that they are Beyonce and deserve above and beyond service at market prices. "They should have known" is a common theme. If you want something, spell it out. I use this place for alterations and they aren't cheap, but they are good. If they assume you want more done than you specify you'll scream that they're gouging you. Be specific, discuss price, don't take $200 shirts to a $1.50/shirt place. I did moderate price taking the area into account and their alterations are reasonable. I've done pants repair, fixing my son's light-up shoe, sewing patches on a thick fabric backpack and I'm going today to get my wife's shoes non-slipped. read more

I went to Uptown Cleaners to have a pair of jeans hemmed because I'd heard good things about their tailoring services. When I picked up my jeans I saw that the hem stitching was sloppy (clearly not in a straight line), then took them home, tried them on and discovered that they were significantly shorter than I'd asked for. I now look like a bought jeans too small for myself. Because they didn't leave any extra material on the inside of the pants, which most tailors will do, there's no way to fix this and my expensive pair of jeans is now ruined. Terrible. I will never go back. read more

Terrible. Shirts that are not meant to be starched, not only were starched, but over-starched. Be prepared to give exact instructions. Truly disappointed! Now not only do I have to have the shirts redone elsewhere but they also have to take this wicked starch out. Ugh. Avoid. read more

I've been using Uptown for one year now and am very happy with the service. The owner is always very pleasant, the service is always on-time as promised at drop off. Shirts always come back clean, pressed, nicely packaged. The dry-cleaning is a bit pricey but worth the convenience of location. Alterations are pricey as well, but again, the convenient location makes it worthwhile. I'll continue to use Uptown exclusively. read more

Super-friendly staff and reasonable prices. They also do a great job on laundered shirts and saved one of my neckties that I thought I would have to toss out. Tip: if the metered parking on the street is full, the building has a section of its parking garage reserved for retail customers. read more

I live in the adjacent building to Uptown Cleaners and have used them several times b/c of the convenience. Every time they have messed up. If I ask for shirts to be folding they put them on hangers. I've asked for some mending and the quality was just terrible. Dry clean articles come back not cleaned. I have to believe the positive comments here are "plants" by the owners. I have never had worse performance. read more

Your clothes WILL get ruined!!! This cleaners destroyed two custom dress shirts worth over $200 total. The owner denied everything but was willing to look at the video which confirmed she did clean these shirts. She still refused to take any responsibility until after numerous phone and in person conversations. She finally gave me $50 back which didn't even cover one of the custom shirts I bought and hardly worn. read more
