Wow I've never seen a listing on yelp have a total of 1.8 stars after 98 reviews! And it checks out. They closed the Zara in DC so I have to go to Pentagon City to return if I don't want to pay the return shipping cost. This store has 4 registers but only 2 people at them and separate lines for returns. I hate this policy! The return line is always so long! I waited for 30 minutes in line to return! The dressing room also had a long line. Listen I don't return much. Only if something doesn't fit me because Zara's sizing is inconsistent. If they had reviews on their website, that would be helpful. Or in this case because what I bought a week ago went on sale and there was a $100 difference! Zara doesn't do price adjustments. So I had to return and buy again. The cashier said to me no more than two items, thankfully that's all I had, but I was like what?!! Are you kidding me! Because that's not Zara's policy online! At the other register there was something wrong that the cashier couldn't do so she called a manager. The whole time I was there a manager never came. So the cashier just stood there and looked stupid. When a line is ridiculously long, and you can't fix a complicated problem, you have those customers step to the side and help the next person in line. Discrimination, Disrespect and Insulted. I went into Zara to shop and make a return. I had a lot of items. It was late in the evening and the store was still packed. I brought my wagon along with me in the store due to my disability as I am unable to carry a lot of items and it helps me when I am shopping. As I got to the register, the attendant at the register (an older Asian lady with glasses) told me that she was not going to process my transaction and walked away. I asked her what was going on and she replied that she would get her manager. When the manager came, (Imani) she explained to me that they would not be processing my return. She was extremely rude. She told me that it was too late and I should have come earlier, even when I waited in line for half an hour. While in line I was grabbing other things, but my wagon was in line. She seemingly scolded me telling me that they needed to give home by 10pm and they were not going to assist me. Imani seemed extremely disturbed at my wagon (which I use due to my disability) and she proceeded to get belligerent and unprofessional. She mentioned her surprise of me bringing a wagon into the store, and stated that I had an "outrageous return". I told her I may return a lot but that is because I spend thousands of dollars for items. The exchange was extremely contentious, to the point that I had to ask her several times to refrain from speaking to me. I was on the phone with my friend who is also an attorney that can attest to this entire conversation. I was upset about them not being willing to take my return, but since I had a purchase, I had to stay in the store and get my products. I had to ask her several times if I was going to be able to purchase my items. The whole time, Imani was being rude, sarcastic and condescending because of my return size and wagon. As we finished the purchase, as I was walking out of the store, Imani started to insult me. She called me a "big back". I am a size 12/14, so when I turned around, I asked her why she was insulting me as if she had the right to. I just could not believe she was insulting me. She said, "I thought my back was big, but you're out of control". She is a MANAGER. I got off the phone with my friend and started to record her. She put her hand out to say she did not give me permission to record, and I informed her that Virginia is a one party consent state. I was shocked. She asked the security to escort me out after my shock of her attacking my physical appearance. She got loud and said I was making a scene because I asked the young lady who worked there if this is normal behavior. The young lady (a black girl with a mask and braids just shock her head). I have never experienced this. Mind you, I was talking calm to her and you can pull the cameras to confirm. She insulted me and I was not speaking to her. I was on my phone call, explaining to my friend (the attorney) what I had experienced. I have attached pictures of the manager and one of me. When I tell you I am taking this to the highest level. Believe me, I will not rest until this matter is addressed. People can get upset, but to insult a customer's person, make fun of their disability items, and to refuse service is completely unacceptable. She was bold enough to conduct herself in this way, I hope she is bold enough to own up to what she did. This was unbelievably disrespectful, disturbing and distasteful. read more

I've been to better stores (Yonkers NY is top notch). Value is decent. I'm a fan of Zara clothes but this location is extremely disappointing. Zero stars for everything!! Too bad Yelp doesn't allow it. Anywho, this was my second visit to any U.S. Zara store period. Not sure what the hype is as some of it is horrendos stuff. Nothing like the stores in Europe. I sadly decided to go on a Sunday in October and that was a fatal mistake. Clothes were misplaced, fitting room was full BUT at first the line wasn't long. Decided to get a skirt since I had to do a return and saw the line was halfway inside the store. I waited and waited and once I was two people behind a register some rude cashier said are you doing an exchange? You need to stand in this line (another line that wasn't that long). I said why can't I just do it here I've been waiting for awhile and she said no exchanges are here. Of course I rolled my eyes at her since there was NO SIGN stating this. Am I suppose to read minds? Am I suppose to ask questions? Don't they have a voice that can let people know hey if you're returning AND/OR exchanging the line is here. I guess they rather gossip than inform shoppers of their lines. Once again, I stood in line and waited another 15-20 minutes even though there were three people in front of me. Apparently everyone was having issues that day and when it came to my turn instead of the bum, who was sassy to me in the first place, tell me can I help you she decided to gossip to another cashier, take extra long to hang clothes (since she wouldn't help anyone until all returned clothes were hung up) and said I'm going to the bathroom. I was fuming and someone else showed up to help me only to tell me that I couldn't exchange my vest because the style numbers were different even though it was the EXACT SAME THING. If i wanted to do it, I needed to go back with my credit card or receipt. I told them im not buying anything, they wasted my time and I will never shop at that location and possibly another location again. As for the vest, im selling it online as I want nothing to do with a Zara. Look, if you're going to work in retail expect to not get paid well and deal with customers but that doesn't mean you need to give an attitude and not show any leniency to a customer who was at your store for a little over an hour trying to do w simple exchange and a purchase. From now on, I rather pay extra for quality clothes than deal with low quality tops and bottoms and trashy customer service. read more

Beware! Zara refused to accept a timely return of a tags-still-on leather jacket that had never been worn. They unilaterally claimed it had been worn and refused to credit my account or discuss the matter at all. I tried to speak with someone at customer service and got no where. The jacket was awful and I would NEVER wear it! It was of such poor quality leather that I assume no one would want it. So instead of taking the loss they adopted the position that it was not returnable. Zara is a horrible company to deal with. I recommend not ordering online unless you are absolutely sure you want to keep something. If they retain sole discretion to determine if something is worn--you're might stuck with it and lose your $$$! read more

If it wasn't for the "Zara" sign above the entrance, I might have thought I was in Marshall's. So Fashion Centre at Pentagon City with the Ritz-Carlton and expensive stores pretending to be all posh. One step into the women's dept of Zara brought on a quasi panic attack due to the sheer disorganization; clothes strewn on the floors; customers dragging dresses behind them basically using them as a broom to sweep the floor. In the men's department, I pulled a shirt from the rack and asked for another ssize. The shirt was marked $34.99, but the sale rep promplty tore off the sale sticker and said the shirt was mispriced that "shoppers like to stick sale tags on clothing" to try to get a discount. read more

The employees that work here are very disrespectful, lazy, and miserable. I walked in this morning in hopes to return an online order. The cashier says "the Wi-Fi isn't working today so we can't do your return." I believe she was just too lazy to do a return. I should've asked to speak to a manager but it was too early to be arguing, so I just said ok and walked out. As I was walking out, I heard the employee rudely say "it's online return day." That comment was very uncalled for and snarky. I didn't get her name but she was a light skin black woman, wore glasses, and she has curly hair. The manager needs to be fired because it looks worse than Ross. Clothes are tossed on the rack or in piles. It was so awful that I took the time to sort the particular rack I was using by color and size. The only reason I bought something (and I almost didn't out of protest) was because I was at another Zara that wasn't a complete shit show and already knew what I wanted. Not that I could easily find it since there didn't seem to be any organizational scheme of like clothing. I haven't been to the Zara at Georgetown or Tysons corner but I'm sure they aren't the disaster that this place is. Seriously at no point in time did I want to buy anything and who the hell puts men's clothing on the first floor? As for the brand, I wanted a more European variety and the coat I bought has a bit of that. Also I think the way they somewhat manage the price is a higher use of acrylic blends, cheaper labor and economy of scale. I would consider it for certain items (for some reason scarves comes to mind). But again I didn't want to even be in this particular store and as far as I'm aware, there was nothing to suggest that this is the largest European brand. I'm not even sure what the other floors looked like, which should hint at the level of failure when if you walk in, your first instinct is to walk out. read more

This was the first time I've physically been in a Zara - only ever ordered online, so I don't have any other locations to compare it to. That being said, they had your typical Zara collection of high-end looking things for lower-end prices. The store was also very organized and easy to peruse. I got stuck in a top while trying it on and they called a manager to help me out of it, although I suspect they were kind of amused at my expense. I was going to buy one of their cute puffer coats with faux fur lining, but after that I just wanted to leave. It's unlikely that I personally will be back because the shirt may or may not have pretty much fallen apart while I was struggling to escape from it, and I may/may not have ditched it in the dressing room stall without telling anyone. I know, I'm a terrible person. But do I recommend that you go and take a look at their selection? Yes, go for it (but take the shirt as a lesson - Zara's probably an example of getting what you pay for when it comes to quality.) read more

This location needs some work. Pros: *Good inventory. That's it. Cons: *Bad attitudes from staff members. *Check-out counters are not fully open and the lines are SO long. Unbelievably long. I've never been in there and seen a short line. There are 3 areas where you can check out and it's rare that they're all open at the same time. *Tons of staff members walking around. I get that their inventory changes all the time, however the amount of staff members walking around vs. the long check-out lines coupled with the fact that none of their dressing rooms are open DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. If you're not constantly running clothes from the dressing room, why are there all these staff members just on the floor not helping the check-out process? As someone who worked in retail at a really popular store, I just don't get the strategic thinking behind this... or lack of strategic thinking. It's not like they don't have the staff--they're everywhere. Having two people working the main check out counter for all the customers doesn't make sense and I'm sure it's actually costing them sales. I myself have put my items down and left because I needed to be somewhere else and the lines are just THAT long. It really gives a sense that Zara doesn't actually care about their customers because they know their inventory will move regardless of the customer experience. *There needs to be a sign for the lines that are accepting returns. It's totally unfair to make a customer stand in those lines to return something only to find out they were in the wrong line. read more

Security looked through our bag normal routine ok. But then this random lady came by and snatched my items from the security guard. (Who was black btw). I was embarrassed to witness a girl complaining about her coworkers because she was "on her break but still helping a customer". I'm all for confiding in your coworker about your frustrations but don't do it so loud so that customers can hear..that was tacky. I purchased an item at your Pentagon City store last Tuesday Aug 14. Once I got home I realized the item purchased was not proper for the outfit I had imagined I would wear it with. On Friday Aug 17 -- Just 3 days later I went to return it at the exact same store I bought it at. All the tags are intact the garment is in the exact brand new condition as it was when I bought it. However, I was unable to find where the receipt had gone. When I arrived to return the item I was informed I could not even receive a store credit since I did not have the receipt. Of course, this is a ridiculous policy. I would understand ZARA might not refund to my credit card-- BUT to refuse a store credit? Eventually the store manager gave me a phone number 1-855-835-9272 and instructed me to speak with Munira. I was told Munira would be able to look up my receipt if I gave her my CC number. I called Munira and she flatly refused to lookup my receipt and again stated I would not be able to receive a store credit. ZARA has the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I will encourage anyone shopping at ZARA to think twice before helping them continue with their unfriendly customer service policies. The idiocy of ZARA is stunning. I probably would have used the store credit and spent more $$$ than the credit itself -- so ZARA actually lost $$$ by not giving me a credit. There is a cash wrap station in each department yet only one is consistently staffed and fully functional (purchase, exchange, returns). It's the big Zara sale and does that ramp things up? Nope. Chatting with each other all the time so you feel as though you are interrupting their fun to ask a question. The check out wait was ridiculous. Due to covid circumstances it is no wonder they have many returns. And as the cashiers work through the returns they chat chat chat. Stop every now and then to make a point and eye contact with the unhelpful staff lingering at the counter. I was in line for a solid 11 minutes. I fell in love with Zara while living in Germany. I was excited when the store open at Pentagon mall. The store is well organized and the employees are always willing to help. Personally I prefer the store at Tysons. If Pentagon don't have my size in an item, I can count on Tyson's to have it. read more
