I always get their golden leaf tea with cream cheese and coconut jelly + boba (it's on the top 10 on their sign). I love their cream cheese and the tea is very refreshing. A bit pricey though, my drink costs me $8+ As for the place, it is small and parking is difficult. Too bad they have it in pasadena i would go more if it's a bit more east with parking.

Stopped by after having dinner with the family, looking for a sweet treat. The entrance is tucked away to the side and the interior or small. We went on a Sunday evening so there was no line. There were a couple people working but we weren't greeted when we walked in. The menu was a little overwhelming so we took a bit of time to figure out what we wanted. Once we were ready, we ordered on the self kiosk and waited for our drinks. I ordered the king mango and my husband got the matcha latte. The matcha tasted poor quality, but that was to be expected. You could definitely still taste the powder. I was very excited for the king mango but was pretty disappointed. The drink wasn't as sweet as I'd hoped and overwhelming with fruit/jelly. I love mango but I'd also like to taste my drink. Once we left, there was no one to greet us on the way out. Don't think I'll be coming back here again.

Whenever we are in or near Old Town Pasadena, my husband and I just have to make a stop by Macu Tea before we leave the area. The drinks here are high quality and authentic. My favorite drink has to be the Sunshine Li-Li Fruit Tea. It has a vibrant and tangy citrus flavor. I love the pieces of fresh passion fruit pulp mixed into the tea. This has the perfect ratio of orange juice and green tea, where no single flavor feels overbearing. Another solid drink is the Matcha Tiramisu, which is actually called a drinking dessert. It has a strong matcha smoothie base infused with some crunchy cookie crumbs topped with a tasty tiramisu foam - very creamy and indulgent. This is the perfect hybrid of a dessert and a drink. For parking, I would recommend the School House Garage parking structure located right behind this bubble tea shop. This little shop is more of a to-go kind of place versus sitting in.

I was a little startled by the high prices of the drinks, but it is so valid for the fresh fruit and perfect sweetness of each drink. The king of mango smoothie is a lovely blend of texture with a crisp manila mango flavor. The strawberry tiramisu tastes of real strawberries with a nicely blended creaminess from the foam on top. The store is located in old town Pasadena, so you'll likely have to pay for parking. The store is small and better for a grab-and-go drink, but they prepare the drinks pretty quickly

I've visited Macu Tea in Taiwan before, so I was excited to finally try the Pasadena location. They're known for their fresh fruit teas, and this visit didn't disappoint. The menu took me a minute to figure out--Chi-Chi is cheese foam, Bo-Bo is agar, and Li-Li seems to mean fruit pieces. The drinks were refreshing and not overly sweet, with plenty of fresh fruit. The cheese foam was rich and creamy without being too salty, and I loved the chewy texture of the Bo-Bo. I'll definitely be back to try more flavors!

Macu Tea, a shop that's inside a small sector in Old Town Pasadena. Parking can be arranged in many structures nearby (paid). The shop is pretty small but they have 3 tables for seating. Interior has plenty of wall spots for pictures not only with your order but even yourself. Perfect for Yelpers ;) My wife and I had our eyes on two drinks, Matcha Tiramisu & Sunshine Li-Li Tea. Drinks came out pretty quickly and the staff offered a carrier that was pretty unique, similar to ones you only receive on international trips. 1. The Matcha Tiramisu caught me by surprise. I had my drink at 50% sugar and it felt just right. The matcha mixes really well with the tiramisu which made a really creamy feeling. I love the slight swirl on it as well. Perfect for a nice outing, highly recommend this drink for any matcha/tiramisu lovers. 2. My wife had the Sunshine Li-Li Tea and it was very refreshing. Very similar to fresh fruit teas, best part is that it's not too sweet either, perfect to drink on a warm day to cool down, perfect drink and highly recommend. Overall, Macu Tea has impressed me, although it would be nice if there were more seating arrangements, but with a smaller shop, it's great how it is already without extra seating. I absolutely love the interior & the plentiful of drink choices. Will be back often to try other options.

I tried the King of Mango Smoothie, and it was decent. I also ordered another of their top seller, the Strawberry Bobo, which I think is better than the mango. The strawberry one has more sweetness, which I prefer. The King of Mango Smoothie is refreshing but not very sweet. It's a good option for people who enjoy lighter, less sugary drinks. Personally, I like sweeter flavors, so I'd pass on this one next time. On the other hand, the Strawberry Bobo Smoothie had the perfect level of sweetness. The crunchy boba and green tea jelly paired really well with it. Overall, it was worth trying once, but I wouldn't come back.

Delicious and refreshing tea! I tried the lemon jasmine green tea w/half sugar & less ice and loved it. The lemon flavor is not too tart in my opinion and had just the right amount of sweetness. Service is through a self order kiosk at the front. This is not one of those boba places for people to hang out, as it is quite small.

Came on a Thursday evening and it was empty inside. There are a few tables for indoor seating. We ordered using the kiosk at the counter and it didn't take too long for the drinks to be ready. I tried the Golden Leaf Milk Tea ($6.75) with light sugar and light ice and it was pretty good. Not too creamy and could still taste the tea.

They are known for their "King of mango" smoothie, which looks quite delicious and will try on another visit. This location is located on Colorado and the best place to park is at the Fair Oaks/Green St. parking lot. It is a quick 3-4 minute walk. I tried the golden leaf milk tea because I wanted something simple, and simple I got. I loved how you can customize ice and sweetness level. I went with the 30% sweetness, which was perfect for someone who doesn't like sweet drinks. Next time I will have to try the boba. I do wish I tasted more of the tea flavor in the drink. They use non-dairy creamer in their milk teas, so celebrate lactose intolerant people, like myself!! Service/ambiance: The service was great. You can order on a screen but the barista helped me out and took my order. She answered all of questions. They have a few tables to sit down at. The shop is clean and well lit. Overall, I would recommend MACU tea. I can't really say much because I only tried one drink, but my first impression was good enough for me to come back.

Local boba place in the heart of downtown Pasadena. It has a big variety of topping and flavors. The best part of it is that they give a strap for each cup! Soo carrying it will be soo much easier as you continue to shop in old town. I tried the boba milk tea and it was ok. But I say it is a pass. The brown sugar milk tea was great! This is definitely a win. The king of mango....def amazing! Have to try! All in all, it's a great little boba place that's good and prices are reasonable.

One of the few places that sells winter melon drinks. They have a lot of drink and toppings. 100% sweetness was too sweet for me so I recommend halving the sweetness. Each drink comes with a nifty drink holder with a handle that keeps your drink upright. The inside doesn't have a lot of room or seating and can crowded if a lot of people are waiting for their orders. Will be coming back to try their other drinks! read more

Nearly missed it while walking. Macu Teas entrance is nestled in and small hall with a few other stores. Not much inside. Mostly a grab and go location. I got the agar boba mango smoothie. SOO delicious! Sweet, refreshing, and made with fresh fruit. Definitely trying out the other smoothies. Note* the smoothies are NON- customizable. Service was really nice to me even though it took me three times to understand that. read more

Tried a new spot and I am always on the new hunt for a mango pomelo drink and this would be on my top 5 places. Service was fast, place is a bit small in an alleyway across from the gelato shop. I would say give it a go, no complaints here! Their oolong milk tea was really good too. They were giving out samples. read more

Wow this location is right in middle of downtown and it's super hard to find parking. I came in the evening and there wasn't a line and the drink came out shortly. I ordered the king of mango smoothie and it was very refreshing. Cannot adjust sugar here but it wasn't overly sweet or overly artificial tasting. Love the tea jelly pieces in the drink. Would definitely get this drink again. read more

The associate was kind enough to explain some of the drinks to me as I was a first time visitor. Even though I asked a lot of questions she remain patient and friendly. I was here when it's still soft opening and also here the first day of grand opening. I love their drinks. High quality; using all real fresh fruits. Love King Mango smoothie, and the orange passion fruit green tea and orange mango green tea. It's a small boba shop, mostly for takeout because they don't really have much space not table and seats to sit around. The service is excellent; helpful and friendly. They let you try out drinks. And most importantly their drinks aren't too sweet which I like. I will come back again to try more drinks. read more

The best fruit boba tea in LA: it's not even close. The tiny & well lit boba shop does not have a bathroom. But the staff is friendly & helpful. There's a 10 cent surcharge in bag. But the reason we cone back again & again is the excellent fruit teas: we usually get 0-30% sugar to let the fruit flavors come to the fore. As much as the orange, passion fruit & grapefruits are the stars, I was completely surprised how refreshing & tasty the peach tea was. Well worth an out if the way stop. read more

Stopped by Macu Tea after ~2 weeks since their grand opening. I have heard good things even from friends from Taiwan. Drinks were decent. They were giving out samples of their Tieguanyin Oolong Milk Tea. Staff was friendly, but service was pretty slow. Came here to try their mango drink but they ran out of mangos for the day. I got the BoBo Strawberry smoothie which include crystal boba and their tea jelly which was so good! The smoothie was really refreshing and you tell they use real ingredients. It is a fixed drink so no sugar or ice levels can be adjusted. I would come back to their mango drink next time! read more

Chi chi mango King mango Both drinks were good. There was a bitterness from the grapefruit and bits of mango skin in the drink that threw the taste of the king mamgo off a little bit. It would be a 10/10 otherwise. Sugar level can't be adjusted but it had just the right amount of sweetness in my opinion. Grab and go. Street parking. read more

wait was 30 min for one boba milk tea and when asking if our drink was almost ready the worker purposely skipped our drink and made the next person's drink even though they ordered in person after us and had a more complicated drink. he then proceeded to look at us and make the online orders that were ordered after ours and didn't get our drink until the store was completely empty, ridiculous. read more

The best thing about Ubatuba is that you can add unlimited toppings! They also have unique bases, such as the pitaya. You can also choose chia pudding as your base. Their chia pudding is tinted blue, which is super unique! Some of my favorite toppings are the goji berries (which become cold and super chewy), their bananas and strawberries (which they hand slice in front of you), and their mangos are super fresh too! They are super generous with the portions for toppings. Usually, the store is pretty busy, especially with all the online orders they deal with. However, their service is always fast and efficient. The workers are incredibly friendly and willing to give samples if you ask. Highly recommend.

I went yesterday on a very hot day and the avocados were not ripe enough, so I chose a cashew butter toast. There are many toppings to choose from like granola's, nuts, seeds, chia pudding, fresh fruit, and even natural sweeteners. I got some berries, fresh and toasted coconut and date syrup drizzled on top. It is such a satisfying snack with a bit of protein and other healthy ingredients that I did not feel guilty about eating I don't know if it was the bread I chose, but the size was a little smaller than what I remember. However, it hit the spot until my next meal. The shop is extremely clean and Service was very pleasant and friendly.

We waited about 15-20 minutes in line. The cashier handed us a pager and we went to look for a table to sit at. We were lucky to find a table for 2, they encourage you to stay no more than 60 minutes but I don't think a lot of people took that into consideration as I saw many families / bigger parties staking out for spots. We ordered a pork katsu curry, karaage, brown sugar matcha latte, and the chocolate crunch matcha frappe. I love how fresh the food was! Our pork katsu had a light crunchy fry to it and the curry flavoring was on point. The rice was also well made which brought the dish together. I absolutely love the karaage here, it wasn't overly greasy and the batter was nice and light! I do wish there was some kewpie mayo on the side to dip it with but the lemon provided acidity to cut the rich flavors of the thigh. I tend to enjoy a stronger matcha and Nana's gives just that! My partner enjoys a sweeter / lighter matcha so he wasn't a huge fan of his brown sugar matcha. I'm so curious to know if they sell the chocolate crunch they put on the matcha because it provides such a great texture piece to the frappe. Parking: If you're lucky, street parking, but if not - We parked at the parking structure south of Raymond between Colorado & Green - first 2 hours is $1.00! It's about a 5 min walk to Nana's. Overall, their food selection is limited but is made fresh and delicious. If you enjoy a stronger matcha, go for it! I'm coming back next time to try their parfaits.

Without the reservation, you might be limited to patio parking only. Even their bar area was busy and reserved during our time there. I didn't mind the waiting, but it was stressful waiting in a tight space with their staff coming in and out with huge piles of dishes and you have to be careful if you don't want to be bumped into. This feeling of crowdedness continues to the tables with the spacing between one table to another very tight together. More to this in a bit. The hostess was so sweet, she actually sent us a complimentary Blistered Bread and Ricotta ($14) dish that we both really enjoyed to make up for the wait. The blistered bread was masterfully executed, very thin and went perfectly with the ricotta dip. Once again, I didn't mind the wait at all. That was not the problem with my meal. Anyways... going on... the waiter... the waiter we had was really grumpy. Not sure if it's just his personality or he was having a bad day. For instance, I was ready to get the white wine flight but then he was, very poorly, explaining it to the point where I was talked out of it. Then I was about to get a glass of wine or bubbly... Then once again he basically talks me out of it. Nevermind I'll drink water... I guess you don't need to earn a better tip. In addition to the trouble he gave me while order. Wow this inconsiderate family of kids bumping into my table, making fart sounds on purpose, cursing adults, and loud loud kids and adults... You expect me to feel like this is normal behavior and enjoy it. I straight up told him, well YOU ASKED ME, I'm just answered your question. He begrudgingly moved us but basically ignored us for the rest of the night Anyways, as for the food... I thought the food would be pretty fantastic since the restaurant was so busy. It had all of the signs of a successful restaurant. My boyfriend and I shared the following: Squash Blossoms ($16) - I love squash blossoms. My boyfriend knew I wouldn't be able to resist ordering it. Their preparation of this delicate ingredient was heavy for my liking. The batter on it was thick and oily. The toasted hazelnuts were unnecessary. House Italian Sausage ($26) - They have one of those pizza ovens. The crust was thin and crispy. It was well prepared. However the issue we had with this was the flavor, or rather lacking flavor. The taste of the Italian sausage was overwhelmed by the red onion agrodolce. We both ate a slice and took the rest home. Even as leftovers we weren't excited to eat it. Charred Scallop Risotto ($38) - What really sold me was the baja uni batter that I did not taste much of in this dish. This was a poor execution of a risotto. The texture was off, and the flavor was overwhelmed by whatever cheese they used in this dish. The charred scallop was one single scallop cut in half and overly charred and rubbery in taste. The blue shrimp were shriveled too. We made sure to eat the proteins to prevent waste but you know it's bad when my boyfriend didn't even want to togo this dish. He normally eats anything to prevent waste. Branzino alla Griglia ($38) - Whole grilled branzino topped with eggplant, salsa verde and herb salad. This was the least bad item that we paid for... Although there was a lot of bones to be cautious of. I understand the risk of stumbling on a few bones when ordering a whole fish but this was more than I would have liked. I also didn't like some of the flavors coating the fish. Although from a grilled perspective it was crispy and perfectly cooked. This is a popular business with plenty of patrons to keep them busy. Whatever they like... it isn't what I look for in a business I frequent. I know they don't need my business and I will gladly stay away and save myself all of the trouble. This was way too stressful and there weren't any dishes I need to have again. My experience was so awful I'm being very generous with this 3 star, which is "average".

King of Mango Smoothie: Mango lovers, you have found your new obsession. This smoothie is the epitome of fresh, tropical flavor. It's thick, refreshing, and just sweet enough without being overpowering. Plus, the blend of fruits is absolutely perfect. My new go-to for when I want something fruity but with a twist! Chi Chi Strawberry: This one was an unexpected delight. The sweetness of the strawberries combined with the creamy base created the perfect balance. It felt like I was sipping on a dessert, but not in an overly sweet way. It's the perfect drink for those who love something fruity but more refreshing than heavy. Located right along E Colorado Blvd in Old Town Pasadena, Macu Tea's storefront gives a bright, welcoming vibe as you approach. It shares an entrance with a few neighboring spots, but once you're inside, the focus shifts to the warm, lively atmosphere of the tea shop itself. The staff member who took my order was a standout, her energy and charm immediately making the experience feel personal. She recommended the Orange & Mango Li-Li Tea at 30% sweetness, a suggestion I'm glad I followed. The drink was refreshingly balanced, with pieces of mango adding texture and bursts of natural sweetness, perfectly complementing the smooth tea base.
