Wow, this place is excellent. We picked up sandwiches here for lunch on the boat and we all Loved them. The homemade bread is to die for and they even had a veggie option for the vegetarians in our group. The pastries and sweets they sell Are all phenomenal. The first time we came i noticed some Cherry tarts but didn't get them. The next day they didn't have them, so I asked and they said they would specially make some for Me the next day! Great service! Came here on Saturday afternoon around 3 pm for a late lunch. Was looking forward to soup on a rainy day but they ran out, so went with the Italian sandwich instead which was super delicious. Unfortunately this restaurant doesn't seem to follow the most strict hand washing guidelines you would expect during a global pandemic (or anytime eating at a restaurant), as the cashier refilled cabinets in the front of the restaurant and immediately touched food without washing her hands. When my friend asked if she washed her hands, she noted she has been using hand sanitizer without offering to make her a new meal, put on gloves, etc. Needless to say we were all really nervous to eat our food. The face mask policy on the door was also not enforced. Would hope the staff can improve their practices to help keep customers healthy in the future. read more

This place is kind of hidden behind all the big places and it's amazing. The service is really nice and food amazing. I got the soup of the day with bread and it tastes amazing! The soup of the day was noodles, chicken, and mushrooms broth. I don't usually like mushrooms but this made me change my mind. Simple but yummy lunch!! I had the ham sandwich on French bread, my sister had turkey, and my mom had the Italian on focaccia. The bread was really tasty with a light but chewy bite, and the sandwiches were just simply, freshly made with some lettuce, tomato, and mayo. We took home a couple of their delicious scones for breakfast the next day (cherry was my fave!). Lastly, the bread pudding is a MUST!! They gave us some caramel sauce for pouring over the top...we shared them for dessert that night with some vanilla ice cream and YUM!! We would go right back for more. Great place! read more

We traveled to Wisconsin to visit family and we went to this great restaurant. Fantastic sandwiches and super nice people serving you. The Italian Sandwich; Turkey Sandwich and Chicken Salad sandwiches are amazing. The bread is made there and is so fresh and delicious. They also have pastries including a cream cheese frosted brownie. Even our grandkids loved this place and that says something because kids can be picky eaters. Tried to eat here earlier today. Sign hung on the door says, We welcome all. We had our 8 lb Teddy Bear dog with us. No signs about animals saying they couldn't come in, remember, "We Welcome All." So I came in holding my dog, and when I got to the counter to order, the young girl at the register gave me the rudest look ever. Then asked me to leave because they cannot have dogs there. That's fine, I understand. However, post it on the door, or ask nicely. So, can't tell you how the food was, girl was too rude to let us eat. read more

A great lunch spot where you'll get amazing sandwiches on artisan bread. Their menu was small and located on a cute little board near the register. I ended up ordering a hot ham and cheese sandwich and my husband had a turkey sandwich. We ended up trading halves so we could each try both for lunch. Both were yummy, but I think the ham and cheese edged out the turkey simply by the sharp cheddar cheese they used. Portion size was good, and each sandwich came with a bag of chips. We sat outside on the small front porch to eat, and it was lovely. As we were leaving, one of the owners asked how our food was. I thought that was so sweet to be asked. We told her how much we enjoyed the food and thanked her. We were in a bit of a hurry, so I didn't get to try any of the fresh bread , but I really wish I had. read more

A cute and quiet sandwich shop not too far out of the way. Sandwiches are around $9 due to the freshly baked bread. However, if this isn't a big selling point for you, it seems overpriced. I had the salami sandwich with cheddar cheese, nice and simple, but the bread didn't exactly stand out to me. For the price, I would prefer sandwiches with more unique combinations of ingredients. Very good bread. We bought day-old cinnamon raisin and have been cherishing every bite. They also had samples of their door county cherry cranberry bread out and that was tasty as well. Also bought a day old semolina loaf...very tough crust, but a good crumb and it made for tasty French toast in the morning. We got there late in the day so our choices were very limited. So for best selection, arrive earlier than 2 pm. read more

Stopped in this past Saturday to order a chicken pot pie for pick up on Sunday. I ended up ordering a 1/2 Braunschweiger sandwich and a cup of mushroom bisque. The soup was delicious and the sandwich was a treat! Couldn't leave without a huge molasses cookie, and I'm glad I did-Yum! Now back to the pot pie, the crust was flaky and homage and the filling was loaded with tender chicken and delicious as well! One other thing, the staff were very friendly and helpful! read more

WE love this place. Located in the Heart of Egg Harbor tucked just east of highway 42 and south of County E... I recommend their Door County Chicken salad sandwich. I love it on any of their home made breads. I have been coming for a few years now and just love sharing it with friends. They have 1/2 sandwiches available for a lighter appetite... but my husband and I split one and it is just right for a light lunch. My husband tried the Tuna and loved that, We went back several times on our last visit. The bread is delicious and the location has plenty of parking. You can sit inside or outdoors under the shade of the trees. Be sure to stop when you are in Door County. Stop for Lunch, to eat in or take... and grab a loaf of their bread while you are there. Bread was great and the staff friendly, but food is overpriced, no salads are offered, greens were wilting (they reimbursed us and we're apologetic), there was no espresso machine, and the chairs outside were very dirty. Dissapointed. Will be a good place if they raise their game. read more

Our favorite bread was the whole wheat Happy Hippie. We liked this bread so much we bought a loaf to take home. Friendly service from the owners. Wonderful bakery! Their breads are amazing, and their cookies are even better! The cranberry cherry bread makes the best French toast you will ever have. I am also partial to their chicken salad, the dried cherries make it different from any other salad I have had. The owners are super friendly, and greet many regulars by name, but treat everyone like an old friend. Their butter crisp cookies are my kryponite, they are sooooo good! They recently started offering par baked pot pies, those make an amazing meal, too. Come for lunch and take supper with you, and grab something sweet for a snack! We got to the store about 3 minutes before they closed for the day. The owner and her mom were wonderful! They made me sandwiches for my family and even though she was sold out of some items, she figured out a terrific veggie sandwich for us! We each ordered a half egg salad sandwich with a bowl of soup (my partner got the black bean, I got tomato). Cost was $10 each which initially I thought was a bit steep. However the half sandwich was quite large and made on freshly baked bread, and the bowl of soup was also generous. A tiny cup of cole slaw was also included. Everything was DELICIOUS and was actually a good value for the price. We also enjoyed some of their ice cream. Extra good! I would definitely return and highly recommend. I had an OUT OF THIS WORLD cherry chicken salad sandwich on sunflower flax bread. The portions were very generous, and the bread was amazingly moist. I also had their creamy tomato soup, with some fresh parmesan chucks of cheese in it! Mmmm-mmm! I've been here before, and will definitely be back. I tell my friends and family to be sure to make it a stop when they travel in Door County. The married couple who run the place (and make the bread, etc.) add to the pleasant ambiance. When I stopped in they had several types of fresh baked scones, pies and cookies....which I was looking for more of a snack than their bread. Wow. We went in twice because the hand turned cherry pies were so good! Flaky and buttery and filled with cherry goodness and then generously coated with sugar. Yummmm! Nothing is open in Door County in March. All the signs (well, most of them, anyway) say, 'reopening ... " fill in the date. In other words, sorry, we're in Florida, resting up for the upcoming tourist season in Door County. Ah, but a few are open. And among them are some gems. THIS is a gem. This husband/wife bakery team was the winner of our three day trip to the peninsula this week. They eclipsed a fine meal at Coopers Corner in Fish Creek and equaled the excellent gelato at Jo-Jo's in Sister Bay. They win because they are just such NICE people. We stopped here on our way home to Chicago and I am kicking myself for not stopping on the way in. The shop is the warm, inviting bakery you'd expect, the heavenly smell of it is just the BEST, and the racks and bakery case are full of the most beautiful (and tasty) breads and baked goods you could ask for. We left with buns, dark, dense, chewy pumpernickel bread, French and wheat loaves, and cinnamon rolls. Yesterday. And, already, I'm longing to go back. Pros: just about everything. Nicest couple ever. Great products. Inviting surroundings. More than just bread, so don't be put off by their 'bread only' appearance. Cons: Yes, Door County is pricey. Accept that and the prices here at the bakery are easier to swallow (pun intended). I'm not used to paying seven dollars for a loaf of bread, but in this case, it is WORTH IT. read more
