Two different choices for breakfast - both were fantastic!!!!! Classic - Scrambled eggs, bacon (crisp and so flavorful), potatoes. All were requested crisply and delivered. Eggs Benedict - with crab and the sauce was top drawer. Cooked to perfection. That took care of us until dinner! Great gas in the tank to start your day! read more

Very nice spot. Friendly service, good menu selections. Will definitely be back again.

Have eaten here 2 or 3 times and always great. Handicapped entrance was improved awhile ago which helps. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.

The service was great. Staff was very friendly. Food was homemade and delicious. They had gluten free options, including bread. All around great experience! We sat in the outdoor patio in back, which was very charming! read more

Not much has changed from last review...the Village Cafe is always great food with great people...and one of our favorite places to have breakfast in Door County. We're probably visited six or seven different times over the past 8 years. Be prepared for a wait...but it is worth it! The cafe is full of fun and funny decor and it feels like home. The food is always full of flavor and fresh! read more

Village cafe on HWY 42 in Egg Harbor is quite the little Breakfast/lunch gem. It's a quirky little place with the walls decorated with local Artist and crafters creations which are for sale. There is indoor seating along With a covered 3 seasons patio and an outdoor shaded space. It looks small from the outside but there is actually plenty of seating. This place is always bustling during the high season (Mid June to late October) but this little cafe is speedy and efficient. They turn tables quickly. My husband ordered traditional eggs Benedict which he loves. The hollandaise sauce is made from Scratch, creamy, thick, rich and buttery. This sinfully delicious sauce was ladled over perfectly poached eggs. When we travel he always orders eggs Benedict and none have come even close in comparison to the ones served here. A friend ordered the daily special French toast made with mixed berry bread from their own bakery (located in town not on premises). Thick slices of bread light and airy with cherry and blueberry throughout. Then dipped in egg with a touch of cinnamon and vanilla. I ordered the short stack of pancakes. Two very large pancakes served with warmed maple syrup. The pancakes could Use a touch of baking powder to make them a bit thicker and fluffier but the taste was good. We shared a side of breakfast potatoes at our table. The fried potatoes have a spicy blend of paprika, onion, garlic and red pepper spices and are fried to a delicate crisp. Beverages include coffees, lattes, assorted juices, mimosa including a local speciality cherry mimosa. Definitely give the cherry mimosa a try. The Village Cafe will get you fueled up for a great day of exploring the peninsula and the prices are very reasonable. read more

Good food. Excellent service. Friendly hostess and servers. I had the buttermilk pancakes, which were quiteHighly recommend.

My last breakfast in Door County was at the Village Cafe, and I'm pretty happy about that. I came on the weekend that many business close for the season but I believe Village Cafe remains open year round. They don't take reservations and there were several large parties ahead of me in line but they got everyone in pretty quickly. This restaurant is bigger than it seems from the street view. The potatoes are freaking delicious. The coffee was perfect diner coffee, and they never let my cup get empty. My over easy eggs with bacon and rye toast hit the spot. Really just a solid cafe with great service. My whole breakfast was around $14 which, frankly, is a steal. read more

It has been a bit since I've reviewed here, so I'm reaffirming my 5 star rating based on our mid-week visit in the fall. We were quickly seated (an advantage of fall/mid-week) and our very friendly server took our orders. My wife got tea, and they bring an assortment of choices to pick from. Food came out in about 10 minutes and was delicious and fresh, as has always been our experience here. I got the ham and cheese omelette again, and my wife got the cafe omelette this time around. Indoor, porch, and outdoor seating available. Lots of gift items and they do sell the flavoring for their delicious breakfast potatoes. Always a solid stop for breakfast, lunch, or brunch. read more

First time visit with daughter and 4 grandchildren while vacationing in Door County and Michigan UP . Cozy, friendly interior with art hanging about and colorful table settings. We ate outside on the patio. Breakfast was delicious. Cherry pancakes, quiche, potato bowls. All very tasty and filling. Warm Pecan coffee cake piece was a generous serving tasted by all. Our server Miguel was so kind! We would come again if in the area. read more

Great food. Friendly people! Relaxed vibe. Good art to look at as well. Highly recommend picking up a jar of their potato seasoning!

We always eat breakfast here on trips to DC. However, we were disappointed this time. The breakfast potatoes were mushy and they no longer offer a vegetarian omelette. I was able to remove meat from an omelette, but then some raw veggies were dumped on top of the eggs. Probably the other food choices are fine, just always loved this place but not this time. The server was excellent. The owner came by to ask how things were and we told her. She seemed not to care , so why ask your customers? read more

If you find yourself in Door County and wake up hungry for breakfast, do NOT miss out on Village Cafe. The quiche of the day is a particular favorite, but honestly, the muffin that comes with it too is spectacular. I've been here countless times, and the service is always great, with very friendly people running the establishment. Trust me, come hungry. read more

I came in on my way home from Peninsula State Park and I am glad I made the quick stop. I wasn't sure at the start because you just never really know what a small restaurant in a small town is going to turn out to be. Upon arrival a young lady greeted me with a genuine smile. It's nice to be sincerely welcome. There were two other tables eating and they seemed happy so I felt like I made a good decision. My server greeted me within 30 seconds or less, not sure if he was also the owner but he was also extremely kind and helpful with the menu. It was around 9:30 so I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy (personal fav) which came with a side of fresh fruit. I also ordered an Orange Juice. The Orange juice was actually super delicious and I am kind of picky on Orange juice so I am glad I went with it. As for the biscuits and gravy I was sold. The gravy tasted like it was homemade and made in small batches with extra attention. The biscuits were also super moist and complimented the gravy perfectly. It was served with a side of fruit which you can not substitute. I am glad I did not substitute because the fruit tasted really fresh and went very well to counter balance the biscuits and gravy. He told me he just cut the fruit and I could tell. All in all this breakfast was a perfect way to spend a birthday morning. The ambiance and environment made for a very nice and relaxing morning visit. The only small knock I have on the place is that the chairs they have at the tables were very hard and uncomfortable. But that was literally my only thing I could gripe on. I would without a doubt come back again to try another dish. I highly recommend. Thank you Village Cafe! :) read more

Village Cafe was a wonderful experience. We got there right after opening, and were greeting with such kindness by the hostess. She brought us coffee, an Arnold Palmer, and a cafe mocha promptly and all were just exceptional. The coffee/tea brand that the use is wonderful is every way they use it. I got the veggie breakfast burrito with sausage added, and wow was it amazing. SO fresh and all the ingredients were just the perfect blend. We also got the ham and cheese omelette with breakfast potatoes and same thing- so, so fresh. All around, wonderful meal. Good service as well. There's lots of cute items to shop around and look at too. Definitely would be hard to do when it's busy because it's not an overly large place, but there's a bit of seating. read more

We walked in and waited quite a long time to be seated. If you can't find staff to man the front desk then you need to have people seat themselves. We sat down and got coffee and a sugar free latte. We ordered the avocado toast. This is what really got me upset. The toast comes with poached eggs. I asked for scrambled instead and they said they couldn't do that and if I wanted them scrambled it would be $3.50 upcharge. If you are making the eggs already, why does it matter what way they are made ? We asked and they stated because it's difficult to communicate with our cooks...... then how do you communicate them otherwise.... Their breakfast potatoes are seasoned amazingly and were delicious. My omelette was prepared well. The wait when we got there and the upcharge for the eggs are enough to make me not want to go read more

Absolutely delicious. I've had some version of a "meat lover's skillet" in dozens of places. None come close to the flavorful "potato bowl" at Village Cafe. My wife raved about the croissant sandwich and everyone loved the coffee cake. I complimented the potatoes that formed the base of my dish, and it turns out that they sell the spice blend they use. read more

My husband and I had breakfast this morning. I ordered the meat lovers potato bowl which had about 1/4 in of grease covering the bottom of the bowl which made the entire meal inedible. My bill was comped for half the price of the meal which I guess was nice but considering I couldn't eat it I was a bit taken back I had to pay for any of it at all. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy which he said was alright, but shortly after we left it wasn't long before he had to find a bathroom and our day trip around Door County consisted of staying near restrooms. Our waiter was very kind and attentive, the restaurant was clean but the meals were overpriced and unfortunately we wouldn't recommend it and won't be back. read more

Went to this fantastic little cafe for breakfast in Egg Harbor. The food, service and experience were top notch. The owner Kim was there and was great to talk to and very helpful all around. The servers were attentive and polite. On top of all of that the food was fresh and delicious. My friend had a regular breakfast and I had the quiche - yummy. The interior of the cafe is decorated really cute and homey. Come here for a meal - you will not be dissapointed. read more

Meal was a let down. I ordered a breakfast that came with eggs, toast, breakfast potatoes, bacon and sausage. Meal came out in a reasonable amount of time and the coffee was pretty good. The rest of the experience was subpar. Temperature of the food was not good, especially the burnt, cold toast (so cold the butter wouldn't even melt and so burnt that I only ate the middle of each piece). Eggs were lukewarm and runny. Meat and potatoes were okay, but nothing was great. My wife had blueberry pancakes, that tasted pretty good, but they to were only lukewarm, To be fair, some of the other meals (at other tables) looked pretty good. Maybe I just ordered poorly! The fresh fruit looked good, and the coffee cake looked amazing! If I ever went back it would be to try that coffee cake with a cup of coffee. read more

Went there on Wednesday only to find the cafe closed. Sign in door said open. We were confused and came back Thursday morning. Thankfully, they were open. Wifey had the vegetable omelette with fruit as the side and wheat toast. I had the Bulky breakfast, three eggs, potatoes, bacon and sausage links and toast. Both meals were nicely prepared with generous servings and came to the table hot. Our server was excellent. Highly recommend without any reservations and look forward to next visit. read more

Absolutely love the freshly baked, served warm, coffee cakes. I'd drive all the way back just for another slice.

The food was less than stellar, I got the eggs Benedict and there was so much hollandaise on the plate, everything was drowning in it. The corn beef hash omelette was very rich tasting, potatoes were good. Coffee was not very good, service was okay. We won't be returning here on our next trip to Door County. read more

Greeted and seated right away, that's always a plus. Cute cafe with its own special feel. Felix our waiter was very friendly and quick with the coffee, which is important in my world. The daily breakfast specials were all very tasty. My wife had the quiche and I had a piece of the raspberry coffee cake both very good. Our friends had an omelette and also the raspberry coffee cake no one was disappointed. The breakfast potatoes were especially delicious. Kim the owner came over to our table and we all had a very nice conversation. Kim told us about her other restaurant the "Villaggios Steakhouse" an Italian restaurant just down the road which by Kim's description of their menu sounds delicious. We plan on eating there during our stay in Door County. Thank you Felix and Kim for the delicious food and great conversation. You blessed our day. read more

OMG what a treasure we uncovered today for breakfast. The food is delicious and unique. Today I had the chocolate bread pudding French toast. Made in their sister bakery "Pink". My Wife had "The Original Bowl" consisting of red onions, spinach ,tomatoes, micro greens, eggs, topped with hollandaise, cheddar and Monterey jack cheese. All served to us by Andrei from Romania who was friendly and welcoming. The entire staff is friendly and the environment of this cozy little house converted to a cafe made the overall experience wonderful. We will return!! read more

We fell in love with this place last year. We loved it so much we drove here on the day we were leaving to get breakfast from here. Now, we have officially been here 4 times. We will be heading back there tomorrow. For starters, we have only ever had breakfast. Get the coffee cake! It's always warm, good and enough for 2-3 people. I have gotten the quiche a few times. It's sooooo good. Flaky crust, gooey cheese and whatever goodies might be inside. My husband gets the omelets. He tried the corn beef hash one and was very impressed. The service here is always exceptional! We have always had exceptional service. If you are near Egg Harbor go check it out! read more

You can't change anything on the menu. It comes as described. Super frustrating as a paying customer that you can't order what you want.

Great breakfast! We hardly ever eat breakfast out in Egg Harbor but if we had tried this place sooner that would have changed our eating habits. We stopped in for breakfast early and were seated immediately, it was quiet and the service was great. They are friendly and clearly the managers stress friendly and helpful as everyone was doing there part. I ordered the corned beef hash because I love it. And in all my years, this is the best I've ever had! The meat tasted like it had been just cooked, tender, flavorful and not at all dry. The seasoning was great, adding to the meat without overpowering it. The baby potatoes were excellent and the fluffy egg whites were perfect without being the least bit greasy! Hubby had an omelette and was very happy but loved my meal! He also ordered the blueberry coffee cake. LOL, she was almost apologetic about the giant serving. This is clearly the norm for them but it is giant. He ate part at the restaurant, had parts for the next day and finally finished it with his mom on the third day. Check out my photo, honestly.....it's just enormous. And delicious, the granola ish crumble on top was so good! We highly recommend eating at the Village Cafe when you're in Egg Harbor! read more

Went here for lunch on a Friday. The place was relatively busy, but it was odd cause there were times when you couldn't find any workers around. The wait staff were friendly, but service was very slow. However there is lots of decor to entertain you as you wait for your food. Many signs and pillows and aprons. Very fun, and I was tempted to buy some of it! As for the food, one item brought this review up from 2 stars to 3 and that was the size of the coffeecake. We ordered the pumpkin coffeecake and it was huge, think about the size of a square box of tissues. Also great spiced flavor on it. Definitely get the coffeecake if you go here, even if it is to save for later, as we were eating ours for a few days! I ordered the California chicken sandwich as my main meal and ended up taking one bite and then eating the lettuce, tomato, sprouts and avocado off it. The bun was overly buttered for my liking and the chicken was very rubbery to the point of it being difficult to cut. Needless to say, I wouldn't order anything with chicken there again, but the other toppings on the sandwich were fun. We also ordered a cup of whitefish chowder which was pretty good. Apparently I just really ordered wrong and left hungry. read more
