Cute and cozy little coffee shop that serves gluten free baked goods. Pretty barista makes you feel welcome.

Hot tip on getting in: send one person to check in at the front desk as early as you can in the morning to get your group added to the list because it's usually an hour to two hour wait for breakfast/brunch. While you're waiting, enjoy the Swedish delights in the gift shop, the enormous green lawn space and seating, walk around Sister Bay and of course admire the goats on the roof! Once you are in, enjoy the food, I'm never disappointed. Personally, I have to order the Swedish meatballs and Swedish pancakes combo every time to get a little bit of sweet and a little bit of savory and a full plate of delicious. I think it might be a little easier to get in for dinner and they have a great outdoor space for drinks, bites, and live music in the evenings! This is really a Sister Bay and Door County MUST stop. I recommend it to everyone!

The classic dining area has not changed in 30 years, nor has the great service by the wait staff adorned in Swedish apparel. There are NO RESERVATIONS, so either go early or plan to wait a long time. We knew the drill, so we put our names in at 8:30am to get a table for 6 at 10:45! Plenty of time to shop in town as well as watch the live goats grazing on the grass roof of the restaurant! Once seated, we enjoyed the Swedish meatballs, Swedish pancakes (with traditional lingonberries or Door County cherries, and a delicious warm cinnamon coffee cake. All of the food was served quickly, was amazing and in just the right amounts. We love the classic look of the restaurant as well as the cool Swedish themed gift shop attached.

We came for the fish boil and returned for breakfast!…read more You can't visit Door County without experiencing a unique and traditional Fish Boil! We loved hearing the history behind the fish boil and watching it come to life at the Old Post Office Restaurant! The dinner and experience was very reasonably priced at $30 per person and they offer options of fried chicken or ribs for those that don't care for fish. I'm (personally) not a big fish lover but I had to at least try it and it wasn't too bad! Dinner is also served with 3 different types of bread and a slice of delicious cherry pie! (Cherries are grown all over the peninsula). We sat outside on the front porch and watched the sun slowly set and the sky fill up with brilliant colors as we finished our dinner. I left with both my belly and heart as full as possible! We enjoyed the restaurant so much that I wanted to stop by on our way out of town, the last day, and try out their breakfast menu. I splurged and ordered the fresh cherry pancakes with a side of one egg and bacon. I planned to just eat half of my pancakes but I almost devoured them completely! My mouth is watering - several days later - as I am thinking about them and writing this review. I highly recommend the Old Post Office if you are in the area. Unfortunately you have to call the restaurant to make reservations but it's definitely worth the little bit of extra effort.
