This coffee shop was my go to place in Egg Harbor, Door County. They open at 6am which is awesome, and they had pastries baked already at this time of day. You need to try their savory biscuits...they are delicious! It's owned by a cute couple, and they truly appreciate their customers. Buttercups is located in a shopping centre and has plenty of parking. It's was a pleasure to find this hidden gem. read more

Visited Egg Harbor for a wedding and stopped here in the morning for breakfast. Grabbed the berry and the cinnamon scones. Wow, the berry one was amazing. It had a really nice glaze on it and the flavor was awesome. The cinnamon one was ok, little dry for me and the flavors weren't as good but the berry scone is a must try. read more

Totally found this place by accident and so glad that we did!!! After visiting several other shops in around Door County during our last trip and not finding any Mocha's that I really liked I had run out of hope. We decided to shop one day and by chance we stumbled upon this shop by pure accident. Without a doubt the best mocha on the peninsula! Store is really small and located within a mall so unless you know where it is you're not likely to find it but it's well worth the stop or trip from where ever you are at! This will for sure be my go to next time we visit DC! read more

Cutest coffee shop! The owners are extremely personable and genuine. They have a ton of flavor options for the drinks. Some reviews mention the speed of getting the orders out. It does take a bit more time than a chain coffee shop, but that's because every item is made completely fresh! I could not believe how great the egg sandwiches tasted. You really can't find a breakfast sandwich like that anywhere else, especially at a chain. They also have plenty of flavor options and milk options for all drinks. Not too much seating if you're looking for a place to hang out or do work, but a great place to stop in and take your food/drinks to town or to the lake! I stopped at Buttercups on a rainy Saturday afternoon. I'd arrived about two hours early for our family vacation, so rather than sitting around waiting for our VRBO to be ready, I went into Egg Harbor. Buttercups caught my eye right away, and I stopped in for an iced latte and scone. The cherry almond scone was wonderful, and the latte (a salted caramel) was wonderful. It's a warm, cozy, friendly coffee shop. read more

Buttercup Coffee is such a sweet place to stop to get your java! Many places are closed during the weekdays (ugh, covid) but Buttercups is open everyday 6am-5pm during the spring/summer months. We had to wait in line for around 25 minutes on a Thursday morning - only the owner was working and 3 people are allowed in shop at a time. Wasn't a problem for us because I understand the time we are going through and want to support the small shops in town. Mango smoothie for my daughter- AMAZING Caramel Frapp for my son - SO GOOD Hot chocolate for my youngest- best he has ever had he said! Cold Brew for my husband and i with a shot of vanilla and splash of cream - YUM! I have worked in the coffee shop industry for 15 years and can be very picky about my coffee - but the owner was so sweet and personable, so chatty and lovely. Shared his stories about how he makes his own honey during the winter months and is so blessed to have people come to the coffee shop during 2020. We were looking for coffee our first day in Door County. Buttercup was highly rated, so we went to this establishment nearby to our resort. It was...ok. Here are my takeaways: First, $8 for a latte? Is there a special rate for tourists? Yikes. "The Bob" was good, but did not include gold flakes. Second, there is very little seating in most of these places, which makes sense of you are doing volume business. Finally, the people who operate the establishment are amiable. But, we found it odd that they used one of their few tables as a workspace instead of seating for patrons. So, if you want a good coffee drink on the run and don't mind the tourist upcharge, you can do worse than Buttercup Coffee. read more

Such a great place in Egg Harbor! I highly recommend this spot to everyone because there will be something for you. It has over 70 different flavors of coffee including delicious candy bar flavors or sugar-free options for people that want them. Dairy-free options are readily available. I treated myself to a turtle frappe and it was perfectly sweet. My friend got a milano cookie latte with toasted marshmallow flavoring; it was a wonderful blend of coffee and dessert! The couple who owns Buttercups is extremely sweet and wonderful to talk to. They have great recommendations and their story of how they ended up in Egg Harbor opening this incredible coffee shop is great to listen to. They are reliable as well, even open on Easter Sunday! Amongst all the chaos, our family ventured to Door County like we do every year seeking a semblance of familiarity. In the quaint town of Egg Harbor, we stumbled upon Buttercups Coffee. To be succinct, this place sparks joy. The cute store caught my eye, but the mango smoothies captured the hearts of my nieces. While chatting with the incredibly lovely owners, they mentioned the freshly baked cookies. We knew we had to get them. Those chocolate toffee cookies felt like a hug and the lovely disposition of the couple that owns that spot have now given me a sense of faith in humanity. Cute little coffee shop in the heart of Door County. This town is adorable and so is the coffee shop. The line moved pretty slow, but it was well worth the wait. We got lattes and a hot chocolate and all were delicious. We also got a few breakfast sandwiches and chocolate chip cookies and yum yum, those cookies were amazing (so soft and moist). I didn't try the breakfast sandwiches but I was told they were tasty -- they were on English muffins and you get a choice of meat and cheese. They also sell local maple syrup, both plain and with tart cherries. read more

Missed this shop on our first trip through Egg Harbor as it is off the main road. So glad we found it when headed back. Yummy breakfast pastries - sweet and savory (bacon, onion, cheese, with a drizzle of their homemade maple syrup). They sell their syrup and honey from their bees. A lot of my Yelp reviews have to do with staff and I was very disappointed in how I was treated the morning we got drinks here. I have a dairy intolerance and IBS and was looking for something I could enjoy. I understand I was asking a lot of questions but the man working acted like I was a huge nuisance instead of a paying customer. He was very rude to me and even my boyfriend commented on it all weekend About how unnecessary and demeaning he was. I also thought it was strange that iced and hot drinks were served in the same cup. I'm trying to be nice by doing two stars instead of one because my iced tea was pretty good but who can mess up a plain black iced tea? read more

My sister and I were so happy to have discovered this Buttercups coffee shop on our second day into a weeklong stay in Egg Harbor. We ended up going there nearly every day of our trip! Thanks to the number of times we visited we got to try a lot of the beverages and get to know the extent of the business too. The smoothies, chai, and coffee were all fantastic. They have a host of flavors that could be added that made our coffees extra special. (One day I got a mocha with peanut butter syrup and another day I had it with sugar free hazelnut. My café au lait with almond milk and an amaretto flavor shot was perfect!) They also had all the great alternative milk options, which is atypical for a small town coffee shop, for an extra cost, which is totally typical. Delicious homemade honey, cherry and blueberry maple syrups, limited quantities of cherry and blueberry preserves were for sale too along with delectable, fresh-made scones and muffins. Take a whiff of one of the varieties of lip balm also made with their homemade honey and you'll have a great aroma treat even if you don't end up taking some home. Our trip was right before the peak Door County cherry season; at this time Buttercups struck a great balance between being popular enough with the locals to have a good, convivial atmosphere and also not be overrun by tourists. The owners were both fantastic and great to talk to - not only about their great beverage and food options, but also Door County in general. This was our first trip to Buttercups Coffee shop and my smoothie was delicious and my wife said her coffee was better than one of the leading chain coffee places that she frequents often and that is saying something. We were getting tired after a full day of shopping and hiking on our recent trip to Door County. The first place we stopped was closed. We rushed to the next place, but didn't get there in time. HOWEVER, she opened up the door and offered to serve us with the sweetest smile on her face. And omg, it was SO good! The absolute sweetest lady I've ever met with the most delicious drinks. We were so glad we were able to get our much needed caffeine fix. She could have said "I'm sorry, we're closed," but she didn't. I felt so bad, but 3-4 different parties came in while she was making our coffee, but she greeted them with the same welcoming smile that we got. So sweet and gracious! read more

Incredible coffee and scones! Their summer hours mean they're one of the only places in Egg Harbor serving coffee prior to 8 am and I'm so glad for that. I accidentally spilled my coffee order on the way out (tough combo of high winds and said coffee not being in my system yet) and they poured a new one for free. Can't wait to go back :) read more

If you are in Door County and looking for scones, Buttercups is a MUST. We stopped at various places last summer and Buttercups had, by far, the best scones in Door County. We ordered our scones and started eating them on the way to our next stop. We turned our car around and bought the rest of the scones they had for sale. Recently, I had 2 dozen scones shipped to me for Mother's Day and they arrived with no issues and were as delicious as we remember last summer. Dave and Karen are also two of the kindest people we met on our trip. I highly recommend a stop there for coffee and/or a snack! read more

Found this place during our recent trip to Door County, and it was so good, trying anywhere else for coffee seemed like a crazy idea. Coffee was so smooth and my wife's latte was one of the best she'd ever had. The couple running the place were so passionate about what they're making, you could taste it. On a recent vacation to Door Harbor, I needed a coffee fix and found this shop nestled in a a shopping center. The shop itself is super cute, lots of options to choose from and a very knowledgeable staff. When I placed my order, I was talked out of what I initially ordered, I was told it was very strong and I wouldn't like it. Unfortunately, what was recommend to be more suitable, ended up being much too sweet, especially after stating I didn't like sweet coffee drink. I took a couple of sips and threw it away before I left the shopping center. Apparently, they must have thought I couldn't hear over the machines and the staff had a condescending conversation about my requests and order. This was far more upsetting than the poor coffee. read more

I'm only giving Buttercups 5 stars because 6 stars wasn't an option. Dave and Karen know their coffee and in a totally non-pretentious way. If you want something akin to Starbucks or Caribou they'll make it exactly as as such; however, if you're a coffee purist be sure to let them know and they'll go above and beyond your expectations. If that isn't enough buckle up for Dave's scones. Dave has done his homework and then some. He's taken the traditional scone and made it better and this is with a distinct purpose. He realizes that most of his customers are on the go and that they don't have time for the traditional accompaniments of cream and jam so he has made them slightly sweeter and slightly less dry. However, if you have time I highly recommend you sit down and request the cream and jam accompaniments. Overall excellent coffee and scones, exceptional service, and a terrific couple that care about your experience. read more
