Through our research for updating our 50 year old HVAC system, Mac Air came through as professional, courteous and knowledgeable. During the site visit, they took care to keep themselves and the house clean and safe. They didn't push a particular type of system and were happy to answer all of our questions about the pros and cons of the different systems available. They provided an estimate with different configurations that they felt would work well at different budget levels, and ultimately we chose to work with Mac Air for this project. Price was agreed and deposit accepted through quickbooks e check (which is pretty much just entering your account number and sort code, so really easy to do). The project was scheduled and because the equipment could be collected sooner than expected, it was brought forward by a week. The equipment then delivered on a Monday, and by the end of Wednesday, the system was running. Every evening, they team ensured the areas they worked in were clean, tidy and safe, and the project was completed on Thursday. We had discussions about renewable energy and making use of smart technology and how to ensure the system stays efficient throughout all weather conditions, and also what options I'd have for replacing our final gas appliance. They even pre-wired for a heat pump hot water heater for free to make the installation easier for whoever ends up performing the installation. Although I'd go with Mac Air for it when we're ready. In all, I'd definitely recommend working with Mac Air to anyone that needs HVAC service. read more

We're very sorry to report that we just had a negative experience with Kevin of MacAir. Most reviews here are over 2 years old. Thought a more recent review might be helpful for folks. Kevin is a nice guy, but ultimately cared about getting paid for time rather than work, if that makes sense. In short, we paid him well (more than the rate we had been quoted over the phone), but he couldn't diagnose the problem with our HVAC unit and help us. We had to hire a second HVAC contractor to get the job done, which ended up being super simple. More detail, in case it's helpful to others: Kevin spent almost 3 hours trying to figure out why our Mitsubishi mini-split wasn't listening to our Nest thermostat and turning on. Kevin charged us $325 (the $150 diagnostic visit fee we had been quoted by Lily over the phone, plus an unexpected $150 for one hour of labor time, plus tax), saying he was "90% sure" we needed to replace the control board. Kevin expressed to us that "a licensed Mitsubishi technician" would need to troubleshoot our unit with Mitsubishi on the phone to definitively determine the problem. He said the call "would take hours." Turns out the issue was super simple and would've been caught through basic troubleshooting! We had another HVAC contractor come, and in 10 minutes he discovered the issue was a dirty drain pan. read more

Extremely professional, on time, reasonable, and knowledgeable. We realized that even though our landlord said all of our units were serviced prior to moving in, they weren't. A rare breed. Kevin from Mac Air is a rare breed of contractor that you should consider if you want to repair or install an HVAC system. Let me explain. I have a five-year-old Mitsubishi split unit that has been leaking refrigerant for the last two years. I have called three separate HVAC repair companies, and all they did was check the level and refill it back up. The last one really messed up the system because, after two weeks, all the refrigerant was gone again. Desperate, I went onto Yelp, and I chatted and fielded multiple quotes from HVAC companies. Kevin's conversation stood out among them all. He explains in detail what repairs he would do and what the cause of the problem could be. I ultimately hired Kevin, and I could not be happier. Here are all the things he did that make him one of the best. Kevin communicates with you; he asked me for pictures of the system, so he is prepared with parts and knows what type of system he is working on. He texted in the morning to let me know his ETA. No detail was too small and no challenge to great for this company. Kevin and Enrique installed 7 mini split heat pumps throughout out our row house.
