What a quirky little delight. We're new to the area and of course needed to try the highest rated local Thai restaurant! It's tiny but cute inside; the decor is unique -- like a takeout place gone eat-in. Some of the tables have *really* soft, comfortable chairs that were so unexpected and cozy that my partner and I were wondering why more dining establishments don't have comfy chairs. The waitstaff was attentive throughout. As we were eating lots of people came in to get takeout; this place is popular! Appetizers: Spring rolls were cut in half diagonally. They were warm and crispy and the sauce was good. My partner had wonton soup and liked it. My entree was veggie Pad Thai. I'm vegan and asked for it without egg and there was no problem. It was one of the more unique pad thais I've ever had -- "fresh and light" is the best way to describe it. It was PACKED with fresh veggies, including uncooked cabbage, carrots and peanuts to be mixed in after you brought it to the table (for the cabbage this was especially nice!) The sauce was really light. I wish there had been more tofu -- the tofu was a little overdone and small; I might ask for extra next time. The dish is definitely dominated by veggies -- sometimes the noodles seemed overwhelmed. But this was one of the few pad Thai experiences where I wasn't weighted down with a ball of noodles in my stomach after! My partner had chicken ladnar. Came with lots of gravy, and dominated by carrots and broccoli. She liked the noodles a lot. Will definitely be back; am interested in how the dishes convey to takeout. We came in with my family of 4 at 8:25. They close at 9. The bartender is the back you could here him say "8:30...wow!" Like we were a bother to him closing the place on time. He waited 5 minutes and then walked up to use and looked at his watch multiple times saying it's 8:30 and he could only get us carry out because it made too close to being closing time. Small mom and pop business- food flavor is good- however the portions are very small for the price. They tend to be very stingy almost penny pinching which is not a good sign for a business because it signals to the customer that corners are being cut behind the scenes to make food stretch. Example: I ordered a Thai Iced Tea but asked for no ice in it......I was told that there would be an up charge because I did not want any ice.... so I asked what the amount of the up charge was going to be.... and was told an additional $3.00..... mind you the drink itself is already $3+. This is certainly a family spot....they even have toys for the kiddos to play with....the food is always super fresh and the service is always with a smile. It's owned by a husband and wife couple and on many occasions you will catch both working in the restaurant. I've come here probably 4 times and every time my food is exactly the same if not better. They do not serve alcohol but I have seen some people bring there own wine which is also a nice touch. On every occasion the restaurant is moderately crowded but never to the point where you feel uncomfortable. I always get the drunken noddles with seafood but on occasions I will try the appetizers which have all been pretty good but nothing beats the drunken noddles if you ask me. This used to be our favorite place to eat in Edgewater, not anymore. My husband, mom and I ate here a few days ago and all three of us came down with severe food poisoning. It's always a pleasure to find a new restaurant, and even more so when the quality and hospitality are so good. The green curry was very flavorful without being overwhelming. My wife had vegetable panang, which was rich and hearty. The owner grows her own peppers to make the chili powder that is on each table - a nice touch for those who want things a bit hotter. My wife and I went last night for dinner. As always the food was very good but the service was poor. Several times I watched the waitresses deliver food to the wrong table (including ours twice). They also didn't time the orders properly so the appetizers were delivered 10 minutes apart then I didn't receive my salad until after I was half way finished with my entree. This required us to eat faster so that our food didn't get cold or soggy. We ordered the following items. Fresh spring rolls, Crispy spring rolls, Seafood Salad, Red Chicken curry and Mushroom and Shrimp. This was the first time ordering the fresh spring rolls. While they were not what I expected, they were very light, fresh and flavorful. The crispy spring rolls are always good but ask for some chili sauce for that extra kick. My wife enjoyed her curry. I think that it's a little too sweet without enough spice balance but my wife told me that this dish is the inspiration for the curry she makes are home. My mushroom and shrimp dish was tasty but the shrimp felt a little under cooked. The mushrooms were very meaty and full of flavor. Then they delivered the seafood salad. It was worth the wait. A great balance of sweet and hot with plenty of flavor. The squid and mussels were very tender but again the shrimp was under cooked. This place gets 4 stars based on the sloppy service and slightly undercooked shrimp. My wife and I will continue to dine here because the flavors of the meal exceed the errors in service. I'm worried about giving a truthful review for far that others will find out about this little gem. This one is based on a single trip, which will not be the last. Spicy food is nowhere to be found in this area, which is very sad for Thai food. This place is the exception. The other reviews stating that you can get it spicy here side, you walk in and find a box of tissues on every table. Good sign. It didn't disappoint. True to form, I broke in the restaurant with Pad Thai. I even had to have the conversation with my daughter about how, yes, it hurts to eat it, but it is so good. I really enjoy a good Thai restaurant. Unfortunately, this is not one of them. The restaurant is cluttered and unappealing. The staff was mostly invisible. The food was just OK at best. I was really hoping this would be good because there are no good Thai restaurants in the Annapolis area. What a nice place, my family and I enjoyed M Thai Kitchen. For appetizers we had spring rolls and fried dumplings, we liked the spring rolls better. Wife had Pad Kaprow, kids had Pad Thai and Kua Kai; I had the Seafood Combo....everything was delicious! The Thai Ice tea was spot on and we ended our meal with fried bananas and ice cream. Great Thai food cooked the Thai way. Our favorite Restaurant in Edgewater. We had another wonderful meal there tonight. The midshipmen we sponsor love this place, too. Our neighbors also love it. This restaurant is everyone's secret favorite place to eat.locally. And about the man who posted a bad review a few days ago, Art, the owner, told us that a party had come in & abruptly requested he turn off the TV because they didn't like the news channel it was on. Art said he wouldn't turn it off, but he would turn off the sound, which he did. That wasn't enough for the party and the man who posted on Yelp wound up up calling Art an A**h***e. So, not polite at all. At that point, after being called a bad name in front of his regular customers , Art asked the party to leave. Apparently these people live in a country where there is only one point of view and anyone with a different point of view, or even a "thought crime" TV station on is to be called names & canceled, or at least given a bad review to hurt their business. I looked on Yelp and, sure enough, the name-calling man had given M Thai Kitchen a Thought police one star review. And to the reviewer who called Art the ever-popular R word:. Art's wife is a lovely Thai woman & the cook, which you would know if you were a regular customer & Art is an Army vet form the Vietnam war. So, to reiterate, Art is not the R-word & he is military, as are so many other hard-working people in this area. For everyone else, visit and enjoy this local gem of a restaurant. read more

My family showed up about 45minutes until close and they made our entire meal... then the owner reopened the kitchen to make us dessert. We've been here a couple time and never been blown away, but it had been a while so I figured we'd give it a shot again. First off, the menus are ridiculous! They're binders with probably a dozen sheet protectors with pictures and descriptions of meals. It's a little much, but I guess they want to show people exactly what they're ordering, so I can appreciate that. I got the fresh garden roll to start and it was very good! Great combo of fresh ingredients. There were a lot of peanuts on top, which made up for the lack of peanut sauce. I live for peanut sauce. My husband asked for the steamed dumplings to be made fried. The waitress said ok, then came back and said the steamed dumpling filling (pork) could not be put in fried dumplings.... ok... So he got regular fried dumplings, which were filled with a veggie combo. They were good, but not what he wanted. My entree was the Tofu kee mao (vegetarian drunken noodles). It was great! Tons of veggies, and a good variety of different veggies. My husband got the spicy beef salad, which was not spicy. Also, the lettuce was cooked, which is how some Thai places do it, but it just wasn't what he wanted. The sauce was quite sweet instead of being spicy. The decor is a little silly and overwhelming, but it works alright. Service was nice and attentive and we were checked on by our waitress as well as the owner. Overall, not blown away by the food, but it is a good enough place. Definitely not the best in the Annapolis area though. read more

My husband and I adore this restaurant and we try to eat here as much as we can! Let me just say this: the food here is authentic Thai food, not the Americanized Thai food that you generally get in this area. The ingredients are always fresh, and the food comes out hot and delicious. They also add just the right amount of spice to everything, so when you see the 2 pepper signs, you know it will actually be spicy. The Massaman curry is my favorite, and one of their best dishes. We also order the steamed dumplings, spring rolls, drunken noodles, jungle curry, and duck curry, which have all been consistently excellent!!!! The reason I did not give M Thai 5 stars is because if you arrive after 8 pm, they tend to become pushy and hover over you while you eat. They close at 9, and they are very strict about that timeline. One time, we arrived at 8:20 and the server didn't even give us menus, she just shouted, "what do you want to order?" We ordered, she brought the food, and then paced back and forth nervously while we ate. She then asked if we wanted dessert, and when we ordered it, she was visibly frustrated but she made it for us anyway. The whole situation made us feel nervous and like we were imposing, which shouldn't happen in a restaurant... it was odd. But, nonetheless, we keep coming back because the food is absolutely delicious. This is a gem, for sure. Just make sure to arrive early!!!!! read more

The clerk was friendly and apologetic. The beef was overcooked and bland. The noodles were exactly as expected and the taste was good. Spice and sauce were well done. Would I try again? I absolutely love this small cozy Thai restaurant. The staff is very hospitable and the food is scrumptious. It makes you want to keep coming for more. I tried the egg rolls and the Pad Se Eww with chicken. I also decided to get sticky rice with mango, which is a popular dessert in Thailand. I drank a Thai Tea to go along with my meal. The egg rolls were okay, I don't think I would buy them again. There were filled with just vegetables, but they didn't seem like the typical Thai egg rolls. The Pad Se Eww with chicken is a noodle dish, made up of large rice noodles with broccoli, egg, and carrots topped with a house brown sauce. I'm Thai, and it was very close to how native Thais make it back in Thailand. It did not taste Americanized at all. The sticky rice with mango was also delicious! The sticky rice was topped with coconut milk which made it super sweet and tasty. The service was fantastic. The waiters were very hospitable and made the restaurant seem more homey. If you are ever craving Thai food, I would highly recommend coming here. You won't be disappointed! read more

The best Thai I had since moving here from NYC!!! The TomYum soup flavors blended beautifully on my tongue. Just a bit sour and the lemongrass balanced it out. Wish it were a bit more spicy but I just add a bit of their hot oil. The basil chicken...the chicken was overcooked but the taste and spiciness helped me overlook it as I had to put in extra work to chew the chicken.
