So I stumbled upon this place while in this area and looking for some tasty Asian cuisine. Upon walking into the restaurant, I was greeted by friendly and welcoming customer service and seated promptly in a booth. I ordered a lemonade, which was extremely delicious and refreshing to have on such a hot day! I also ordered crispy spring rolls as my appetizer! These spring rolls were fried to a delicious crisp, and coupled with the traditional mouthwatering sweet and sour dipping sauce! I ordered Shrimp Pad Thai as my main dish and asked for the flavor profile of "Thai Hot", as I am someone who loves heat! The Pad Thai came out, and my waitress also brought me a spice condiment rack that had different levels of chili to dress my Pad Thai with. The Pad Thai was good, though it could have been a lot better! The Pad Thai was not traditional Pad Thai, as it was missing many of the key elements which I will list below. Recommendations for your Shrimp Pad Thai Dish: - Please cook the rice noodles with Tamarind, this way a key element that the Pad Thai was missing. -There was no lime served with my Pad Thai, and this gives the dish a nice and flavorful zest. -The Pad Thai was not cooked with Peanut Sauce, which is another key element that adds a delicious and rich flavor to the dish! -The Pad Thai rice noodles were not seasoned at all and very bland, I was able to flavor my noodles by adding chili powder/sauce to them. -There were six shrimp in my dish, I have never really paid attention to or counted the amount of shrimp in a dish, but the noodle to shrimp ratio was pretty noticeable. All in all, this is a great business but the food could be much more authentic. Pad Thai is a signature dish of any Thai restaurant, and it should not be missing so many authentic elements. I really want to give this 2 stars. I will give it 3 because the prices are reasonable and if you have never had Thai food then this is probably good. Like most things if you have never had a comparative or better or authentic, then you think what you get is really good. I love Thai and get it all over and have had it in Thailand as well. I ordered a few staples - Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Basil Fried Rice, Curry Puff (veggie) and Gyoza (veggie). What was good were the Gyoza which are pretty hard to mess up and easy to make, as long as fried (as these were) vs the steamed ones. The Curry Puffs were not good - WAY too much curry seasoning (which I love) and I could not even taste the ingredients at all. And they were also very small in size compared to all others I have had. Now the main dishes. Basil fried rice - This I have never been disappointed with, but here I was. I could not even taste the basil nor saw much if any.....it was really fried rice basically. And it had a lot of sugar in it as well, sugar is traditional but maybe because other components were missing, the sugar taste stood out vs enhancing. The Shrimp Pad Thai is my wife's favorite but here it was horrendous. First off, the eggs were not even scrambled in with the dish. Imagine getting fried rice and them simply put an egg on top vs mixed in...this can be done but I have never had it (makes more work for me as the customer). Secondly the noodles were pretty much white which was a sign that there was little or no traditional sauce mixed into it and was obviously some serious Americanized version. My wife didn't even want to eat it because it was so bland. Lastly, was my typical favorite of Drunken Noodles. I am not sure what was wrong with it but it lacked the typical seasonings or in its correct ratio. Normally I would eat all of this but I was content at eating 1/8th of the dish simply because this was not good drunken noodles. If you want something not too expensive then I guess this is good, but if you want some real Thai, id venture elsewhere. read more

We went to Thai Zapp again for dinner. We started with Pork Deep Fried Wontons, they were very good. My wife had Thai Fried Rice with Shrimp. I feel like when you eat here, you are eating at a families house. The food is always perfect. I have had every item on the menu u at least twice and have yet to be disappointed. Delicious! I went here for lunch and it did not disappoint. I started with the garden salad with Thai dressing. The salad was very fresh with sliced onions and a sweet citrusy dressing (which the waitress recommended; glad she did!). I also got the spring rolls which were great. They were lightly fried and weren't overly filling. I then moved to the main event: the pad Thai with chicken. It was super flavorful with freshly fried egg and well cooked pieces of chicken. The noodles were thinner than usual, as was the sauce, which made the dish much lighter and not as heavy as pad Thai I've tried in the past. The sauce was not super sweet which was nice. Visited Thai Zapp for lunch again, looking for the perfect spice level, and failing. LOL! I ordered the Butterfly Shrimp which were slightly crunchy and very good. I also got the Massaman Curry, Thai Hot. Alas, I went a bridge too far! I like a bit of forehead sweat on spicier dishes, Thai Hot reached "sweat running down the back of my neck!" hot levels. . It was really good but just a touch too hot for me. Live and learn. Good portion size, I had a bit left over so I had it as a side dish for lunch the next day. Located in a shopping center next to a Safeway. We ordered online and received and confirmation call with a time frame of 15 minutes. When we arrived in the time frame our food was ready like they said it would be. I found the portions to be slightly smaller than I'm accustomed to but still a good size especially if you eat the rice. I ordered the chicken and broccoli with spring rolls. The entree was good, I did have little globs of clear stuff in my dish, I think it's some kind of thickening agent, it didn't have a taste. You can order you level of spice, I ordered medium and it was just right (I will still go up a notch the next time I order) and the spring rolls were okay. This is our go to for Thai food in Southern Maryland. Seriously the BEST Pad Thai! We have had other dishes but I keep coming back for their Pad Thai-it's exceptionally good. We ordered "spicy" and "Thai hot," and as hoped, our noses were running and mouths on fire. Pad Thai (not greasy like the last place in this spot), green curry, papaya salad, and Tom kha gai (which I was craving for a couple of weeks - if I'd only realized its right here!). Our new favorite Thai place! My partner loves the Panang Curry and I'm addicted to the Jungle dish (with mixed seafood). It's so loaded with different types of seafood (muscles, calamari, shrimp, scallops) and so packed with spicy flavor that I just can't get enough of it.
