Nara Thai is truly a hidden treasure. I love Thai restaurants and Thai food, but Nara is truly the best Thai food that I have ever eaten! Please treat yourself and come get some of the best food in the WORLD in your back yard! I recommend starting with chicken satay, crying tiger, papaya salad, and their signature steamed dumplings! I personally die for the choo cheese salmon, the drunken noodles is fabulous, tom Yun soup is a particular tasty delight, and I simply cannot wait to try the whole menu. Purchased take out. Food comes in plastic containers with utensils. I got the Pineapple Fried Rice. It had two sole pieces of shrimp placed at the top of the rice. Few pineapples, and raisins and cashews. Not much flavor overall. Not worth the price. Mystery meat - maybe chicken was plentiful. I also purchased the Pad See Eww. Different from what I've had elsewhere. It lacked a sweet taste. Broccoli didn't seem fresh. Not a lot of flavor overall. Spent a good deal of money for both dishes. Stopped here for a quick lunch and had high hopes because of all of the positive reviews. I did notice, however, that a lot of the more recent reviews have been negative. I can see why. Not only was the hostess not friendly whatsoever, but the Thai tea and the Pad Se Ew that I ordered tasted like there was no love put into it. Excellent Thai food in Stafford! Recently came here with a large group of people. We were nervous that we wouldn't be able to be seated due to our size but the restaurant was more than happy to help and accommodate us. Service was great from the start with everyone being so friendly. The menu is extensive and has various options for you to choose from. I ordered the pad Thai with Thai iced tea which was delicious. I forgot to take pictures of the food I got which was the mango and sticky rice which wasn't particular good or sweet like several other places I've been to. Then got the pineapple fried rice which came with chicken and (2) pieces of shrimp...lol. So if you going to say it's "shrimp" included please make it more than (2). I made it medium spicy and I'll tell you it was spicy! Wonder how much my mouth would have melted if I got regular spicy. Would I go back? My wife has been here several times and raved about it but it was my first time. I had the green curry and boy was it spicy but loved every bite. Even their tap water tastes better than mine at home. I ordered food from Nara Thai via Ubereats after reading great reviews. My order consist of: Chicken fried rice - Hot: chicken in the rice smells and made the food inedible. It was sweet as well which I found quite odd. Pad Ka Prow (chicken) - Hot: Few pieces of chicken in this dish smell as well. Hot is way too hot that totally burn my taste buds to even taste the food anymore. Hot is not American hot. Tom Yum Soup (chicken) - Hot: It was sweet to my taste, chicken didn't smell in it. It was way too hot and I just couldn't eat. Overall I felt like my $46 meal was inedible due to chicken quality and food being extremely spicy. Solid small Thai restaurant. I've ordered to go once and it was very disappointing so I was a tad skeptical about a second visit. The most recent time out, dining in was a completely different experience. The service was good. The food was hot, fresh and seasoned well. This food is so delicious that I almost forgot to take pictures. I've seen all of the great reviews over the past year and decided to stop in on a cheat day for lunch. The restaurant is located in a basic strip mall off of Garrisonville Rd. As you walk inside, the place is clean, but very small. Most people probably order takeout or food delivery. We decided to eat there. We tried the Beef Basil Fried Rice, Beef Pad Woonsen, and the Shrimp Karee Curry as our main entrees. This food does not disappoint. The flavors were on point. The older lady waiting on us seemed to be very bothered by us asking for tea, she brought one cup-her look at us was how dare us ask her for something...we dare not ask for the second cup...we did ask for serving spoons so we could share the dishes, again seemed put off, then asked for sugar for my tea and just wow...I felt to be such a bother to her. When you enter it was kind of confusing if you seat yourself or wait to be seated. They were short staffed so we waited patiently and were greeted warmly and sat. We had our little one and they didn't offer the child seat but I did find it. We were handed the menus and it took a minute before offered drinks. After our drinks we were given plenty of time to order. We did order the crab ragoons to start. They were crispy and good. I ordered the sweet and sour with pork. The Bangkok sauce was different. I've had my share of Thai food but Nara Thai knocks my socks off! I continue to get their pad see ew with tofu and veggies, and they LOAD this dish with tofu and veggies! I've been to places that put 3 pieces of broccoli in this dish and call it a day, but not Nara! It's a hearty, filling meal, and so, so flavorful. I've only done takeout from here, so I can't speak much to service other than the ladies always being super friendly when I pick up my order. The food alone is worthy of 5 stars! This restaurant is located in an unassuming shopping center off of Rte 610 in North Stafford. I have only been at the restaurant to pick up food. The order was ready on time both times that I ordered for pick up on my way home. A lot of time when I ask for spicy I am disappointed by the heat level. That was not a problem here. I got the Thai Hot and it was pleasantly hot. It was plenty spicy. The taste was also great with good portion sizes. I would recommend. read more

The restaurant was okay, but not the best Thai I have ever had. They had a decent sized menu and the prices were under $30 per person. Per Yelp, it seemed this was the best Thai food for the area. The restaurant definitely seemed like a hole-in-the-wall kind of place, but could have used a deep cleaning. Overall, our experience was okay. There were two of us dining and we ordered the Crispy Spring Rolls and Soup for appetizers, and a diet soda each. The Spring Rolls came out fairly quickly, but the outside was hot and the inside was still cool, which makes me think that they were frozen then microwaved or cooked. Our server never brought the soup or our diet sodas. Another server brought out our food right after the spring rolls (Vegetarian Pineapple Fried Rice and Panang Chicken Curry). At this point, I asked the other server about the soup and our drinks. He apologized and was very polite and had the soup out somewhat quickly (had to ring it in) but no sodas. I again asked him as nicely as I could about the diet sodas (request #3), which he also had to ring in, and he brought them and apologized and said our server was new and training. I get it, not the end of the world. The Pineapple Fried Rice wasn't bad but wasn't great-- it tasted like it had been sitting out and was reheated. The Panang Chicken Curry and vegetables were good. After the experience we had we decided to skip on dessert and just get the check. Our original server brought our check over and apologized for the confusion, which we let him know happens. The check was correct and had everything on it. I used the restroom before leaving and it was gross and had a lit candle burning on the toilet, which seems like a giant fire hazard. I'll leave it at it was a really gross bathroom. I don't see the need to come back here again. If we're in the area, we'll choose something else. read more

I hear so much hype for this place so I thought I would give it a shot after being back and forth in this area for almost 3 years. The food was overall 8/10 but the service was meh, okay.. I'd say 4/10 for service but seriously what did I expect from a hole in the wall Asian restaurant? We ordered the fried spring rolls which were good, can't really mess those up and also ordered the crispy fish which was the tilapia. I came in here in hopes they had the fried red snapper but unfortunately they only had the tilapia so therefore their online menu is a lie.. points off for that. The fried tilapia with the three flavor sauce was good but I do not think it was worth $40 for just that fish, you can see photos I've posted to see how big that fish was. Overall experience was alright. Place smelled like cigarettes which I absolutely hated about that and honestly may have gave me a bad impression amongst other little things. Amazing small business with the best food!!! I struggle deciding to eat thai anywhere else because nowhere else is this good. Favorites include the pla sam ross (fried tilapia) and their three flavor sauce with it is incredible. The basil fried rice is delicious and has crispy fried basil leaves on top. I see people buying it for pickup all the time. If i eat in I'll always get steamed mussels - with lemongrass, galanga, and plenty of this fantastic broth at the bottom. Nam Tok, crying tiger, and other dishes you can get with their spicy marinated beef will get you hooked. Pad thai here is delicious of course... if that's all you're familiar with then treat yourself but being adventurous will pay off. We got a take-out and stood at the counter for like 5 minutes without being addressed, the staff seemed kinda stressed. We ordered and for 3 dishes it was about fifty which is a wee bit spendy for the quality of their food. I got pad thai and it was by no means bad but it also wasn't the best I've ever had. The portion size was kinda small, it didn't even fill the small box (which seems to be the case for a lot of the thai restaurants around here). I don't think this is better or worse than the other Thai places around, they are all kinda on the same playing field. I probably would go again! The yellow curry and basil fried rice both had amazing taste and spices that were definitely up to par with great Thai restaurants in other parts of the country (I'm from southern California where there are many options and more competition -- so special emphasis when I say this place is great!). We've ordered from this restaurant a lot over the last two years and I've always ordered the duck curry. I would have given this restaurant more stars but recently they have changed. They give you minimal rice and the last two times I've ordered the duck curry, I've received inedible pieces ie. all consisting of fat, duck skin, and cartilage, no actual duck meat.
