Got taken out from here. Had the gift bag appetizer and gyoza, both of which were delicious. For an entree I had the red curry which was very delicious. Flavors were all there, and they give you a very clear and straightforward rating system to determine how spicy you want your curry. Visiting my daughter and family, we decided we wanted Thai food for dinner and ordered from Bangkok Cafe via its website [see NOTE]: FRESH ROLLS (4/5) -- There were two small fresh rolls with shrimp and tofu.  ($5.95) GYOZAS (3/5) -- We took advantage of BOGO special.  ($10.42 10 pcs) PAD SEE EW (3/5) -- We ordered this popular Thai noodle dish without egg.  ($12.95) DRUNKEN NOODLES (4/5) -- We had two orders, one with pork and the other with chicken.  ($12.95) PINEAPPLE FRIED RICE (3/5) -- The stir-fried rice with chicken and shrimp was tasty but the rice was overcooked.  ($15.95) Spiciness was spot-on with how each dish was ordered. Food was ready when we arrived for pick-up.  Street parking only.  Bangkok Cafe is open for take-out and delivery only. While the food is excellent the driver was angry when he arrived due to traffic on Plank Rd. He got very snippy with me and said they would have to change the delivery policy to less than 4 mile radius. When I said it wasn't likely I would come to his restaurant, he just shrugged it off and took his 40% cash tip that I gave him and left. When I called and spoke to manager he didn't seem to care that the driver was rude so I will not order from this place again. This was my first and last experience with them. I spent $74 on chicken pad thai and spring rolls last night for my family. I haven't been to this place in a long time but had it for years when the previous owners were running the business, and it was absolutely PHENOMENAL back then. The food I got last night did not meet the mark. My order was delivered incorrect, the pad thai was EXTREMELY mushy (way overcooked) and the flavor was a sharp tang that I didn't recognize. The spring rolls were also EXTREMELY mushy inside and I couldn't even identify what was in them. They had the consistency of smashed bananas. The restaurant did refund my money and offered to re-cook at no cost, but it wasn't about the money at that point. The food was horrible. I am extremely disappointed that this restaurant has gone downhill so much and hope that the current owners will look to improve the taste and quality of their food. read more

I didn't think Thai food could be messed up until now. I found this place down the street from my hotel and figured it was a good spot. I walk in and all the chairs are up. They only do carry-out. The girl that came to take my order seemed so uninterested like her family forces her to work there. She didn't even greet me. I ordered beef pad see ew and when I got outside, I realized they hadn't packed me utensils. So I went back in to ask, and the girl just points at the table in the corner and tells me to get it myself. If they're trying to actually keep customers coming back, this ain't the way to do it. My husband and I stopped by for dinner on a Friday evening when we were passing through town on our way to VA Beach. Using Yelp, we were originally headed elsewhere, but when we walked by and saw the "no-wait" situation, we decided to take advantage so we could get back on the road more quickly. The menu is fairly extensive, but what I appreciated the most about it was the description of the levels of spice AND the adherence to those descriptions once our food came out. Both of us ordered American hot and were skeptical, but with my lips tingling halfway through the meal, we were both in agreement that we were glad we didn't order Thai hot or 911 spice. My husband ordered the pad Thai with pork and I chose the chicken with Thai chili paste and green beans. Portions were substantial and we could have easily taken leftovers if we would have had somewhere to put them. Service was friendly and efficient, food came out quickly and was delicious, and parking was easy nearby. I'd return if in the area again, and I'd definitely recommend fellow travelers to stop here for a quick meal rather than doing somewhere right off I-95 exits. read more

Stop what you're doing and eat here! We loved our experience dining at Bangkok Cafe and would go back tomorrow if we weren't leaving. It's a small authentic Thai restaurant located in historic downtown. The brightly blue walls and amazing smells made us feel like we made the right choice. Happy hour is offered EVERYDAY from 3-6 and offers $3 appetizers as $4 wines. We started with vegetarian spring rolls and fried tofu. To be honest my boyfriend ate both spring rolls (happy hour comes with two) which means they must have been pretty good. The fried tofu wasn't anything special but still good. We also had a glass of Riesling (I would pass as it was completely flat. There's so many better rieslings out there.) and a moscato which was good. For dinner we had basil fried rice with chicken and a regular fried rice without meat. Both entrees were super food and came out within about 15 minutes of ordering. The great thing about Bangkok Cafe is the staff. Our waiter was attentive and so were other employees. I appreciated being checked in on and would 100% recommend this restaurant! read more

This is my go to Thai place in the Fredericksburg area. I have virtually nothing but good things to say about it. The dishes are always hot, flavorful, and fresh; the spice levels are consistently executed; and the staff is friendly. This place is currently (and maybe always) operating as a take away and delivery only so be aware of that. Sometimes take out is inconsistent at other places but not here. My order is always accurate and packaged securely. Some of my go to dishes are the Kapow on Rice (with a fried egg obviously), the crispy duck, and the drunken noddles. Good food, and I was super surprised about the veggie version of the duck, the person who told me about this restaurant recommended me to order the veggie duck (imitation of duck) wow it was a nice try and very different indeed, a bit salted, but nothing that a nice jasmine rice could not help. My favourite is the glass noodles salad, it was very nice and well balanced. Papaya salad had way too much fish sauce in my opinion and it was not as well balanced. Overall good place to come back to have a nice Thai food. Service good. Definitely will be back for another taste. read more

Had a mishap this evening. Ordered something with little heat for my mom. Turns out that it was much too spicy for her. I called in expecting to get resistance or rejection. To my surprise, the manager handled it so very professionally-- and with kindness on top. She rectified the situation and made sure that my mom was happy with her order. This experience alone has earned both my family's patronage and loyalty! My mom love the food too!! There are lots of choices out there these days for food... Gee my experience here was lackluster and it's 12:05PM. Lunch. No one is here but me and the two servers were eating and not happy to see me. The girl seated me and went back to her meal. No smiles. No hospitality at all. I ordered Gyoza and when they came out cold in the center it made me wonder how safe they even were to eat. I asked for Sriacha sauce and the server pretended to not comprehend and then finally wandered back with some little pepper pots. My pad see ewww (spelling?) was good. After having a disappointing experience in Curitiba Cafe and not being not being attended to at Hunan Garden I was ready to write off Fburg. I bet nobody calls it that but f it. I love Thai food and I promise, I don't desire too much but Bangkok Cafe was "just what I needed."* The restaurant was packed this rainy Sunday but the hostess/waitress was so welcoming and accommodating. Yes it is her job and this is a tip driven economy but Hunan Garden wasn't packed and they were not about to multitask at Curitiba Cafe. Once seated I knew I wanted something with peanut sauce and some Curry Puffs. The menu said that the curry puffs were made with beef but guess what? The menu is wrong because they are now made with pollo. Love. I ordered a chicken curry which I don't remember. Honestly, I thought the taste was a tad thin but staff(a duo in a packed restaurant) kept my water filled and they were always around. The dish was aight. I don't think it could've been better if it was spicier because I don't view spicy as synonymous with well-seasoned so that's that. To wrap things up, I ordered a Thai Iced Tea which I recommend you get to-go or you get when you have time to spare. I say that because I wanted my ice to melt a bit because it was potent! I have to say...nothing remarkable that would make me return. The food is decent. The flavor is the same. Ingredients seem fresh which is awesome. But there's absolutely nothing to set them apart. Went for lunch today. The portion size was very small, even for lunch. I had the Pad Cashew as this is what I usually get and judge a Thai place on. There was hardly any sauce. Wait staff didn't ask what level of heat we wanted, when the food arrived it tasted very bland. Put so much Prik Nan Pa (fish sauce and Thai peppers) on it that it could have tasted like anything at that point. Fredericksburg, VA lacks any good Thai restaurants. Having been to Thailand twice it's a shame what this town tries too pass off as Thai. Stafford, just a little north has much better Thai places...worth the drive! read more

Worst Thai food ever! We ordered Phad Se Yew, American heat (3 out of 6 stars). The noodles were mushy and there was no heat. The Pham Thai with American heat was way too sweet and no heat. We're told 25 minutes and still had to wait. read more
