Choice of soup or salad with lunch special
Leena S.

I was looking for a lunch stop as we made our way to the Carolinas and based on Yelp reviews (the husband wanted sushi), Asian Diner Restaurant won. The location itself was slightly congested as we got off the highway, but we had easier access getting back on the interstate along with a gas station before hopping back on. We ordered some lunch specials. I got the Veggie Pad Thai and my husband ordered a 2 sushi roll special (Spicy Tuna and California Roll). The lunches came accompanied with your choice of soup or salad. The food was good. The service was efficient and we are in and out of the restaurant within 30 minutes. The interior of the restaurant was a bit dark with not enough natural light or even interior light. Other than that it served us just fine for a lunch, gas fill up and bathroom break.

Pad "sugar" Thai

Been coming here 15 years and this is the worst service I have received. The old owner was pleasant and friendly. She always paid attention to the customers. The food is gross. Wonton soup with lettuce and no wontons. Pad Thai that had no spice , instead was sweet as if I was eating a plate of syrup. The older gentleman that was unprofessional lie multiple times and seemed very rude when asked if the menu changed. The restaurant had a facelift but the service was horrible. Paid outrageous prices for poor service and the older man that seemed like he needed a major attitude adjustment and some seasoning for this bland food. I would give this place zero stars.

Salad with ginger dressing

Asian Diner is a good local restaurant with a huge menu. The entrees are large, the soups are good and the salad and ginger dressing are fantastic. The service is attentive and the atmosphere is that of a typical Chinese restaurant.

Dinner in Virginia... On the drive between Virginia Beach and Washington DC, my friend brought me here for dinner. It seems like she and her daughter have been here several times before. The good things were: -free parking -friendly, efficient service -convenient restroom -clean environment with nice decor -yummy food at reasonable prices My friend and her daughter both ordered tempura Udon - which they usually get. It looked good! They were nice enough to substitute the shrimp tempura for a vegetable tempura... Thank you! (My God daughter is allergic to shrimp.) I got the beef bowl - teriyaki meat on white rice with a slice of takuan. The thinly sliced beef was tender and tasty! The sauce dripped down onto the rice, making it flavorful! A pleasant surprise was the Complimentary Fortune cookie! What a sweet treat! I can't think of any bad things about this restaurant. Highly recommend if you're in the Fredericksburg area!

Kung Pao Chicken, L19.Beef Fried Rice, L24.Beef Lo Mein

Came in for lunch and had a great experience! The food was the best Chinese in Fredericksburg by far. I wish I had taken a photo before we started eating. Everything was fresh and flavorful. We ordered kung pao chicken, beef lo mien and beef fried rice. The chicken kung pao was saucy and just the right amount of spicy. Great flavors. This is definitely a new lunch spot in the rotation.

Shrimp tempura

What a disappointment. First time here. Got takeout on a Friday night. Ordered the shrimp tempura, satay chicken, miso soup, wonton soup and a California roll. The entire meal was awful. No flavor to the soups, the sushi was disappointing, the chicken on a stick is not what I generally get from any other Asian restaurants; it was literally just plain, unseasoned chicken. Never again. We dislike it so much, we're tossing it out and going someplace else.

I really like their sushi. Prices are good for what you get. We also love the gyoza options.

The main courses we ordered were vegan, hot and delicious. I had #43, fried eggplant and tofu w rice. My husband had the drunken noodle w tofu and vegetables. Only thing I'd change is either no TVs or at least fewer. They detract from the cute ambience & decor.

I made a huge order which required me to pay over the phone so FYI. Papaya salad - 1/5 - it lacked so much flavor, it was almost like it didn't have enough fish sauce. Beef drunken noodles - 3/5 - this was ok, kinda bland in flavor, noodles were a bit over cooked. Chicken Pad Thai - 4/5 - this had a little flavor to it, pretty decent out of all the things we ordered. Chicken red curry - 1/5 - this was a little disappointing since I was craving for some curry. The flavor was ok, they didn't put enough sauce in the container, I barely had enough for my rice. It looks very cheap and cheesy to put it in a shallow container. Thai fried rice - 3/5 - this was decent, very basic. Mixed vegetables - 4/5 - u really can't mess up stir fried vegetables, can u? Plain vanilla, something like you get out of a Chinese dish. Nothing special, it was decent. Overall we spent too much and it didn't meet my expectations. Location is placed in a sus area, tuck in the corner, careful going at night.

It means Chinese rather than American Chinese, but it also means accessible to people who shop in strip malls in Virginia. While some of the newer Peter Chang restaurants have clearer vegetarian labeling, this one leaves you guessing a bit. It also doesn't list drinks, which is strange when you get asked what you want to drink. I eventually ended up with an interesting combination. I could have gone more basic, but I decided some spicy tofu skins for an appetizer would allow me to order a vegetable entree, which I don't usually do. I assume that a dish of stir-fried cabbage is meant to be ordered by a large group and shared. Both items were tasty, with my cabbage being freshly prepared with a hint of spice and cooked just enough, while my tofu skins had a hint of numbing sensation and a strong flavor hit underlying it. The menu isn't quite as broad as I would like from a veggie perspective, but in an area not overflowing with options, I got a satisfying meal.

That there were no crunchy noodles for the soup as I had anticipated and that a tip was demanded after no delivering on the full vision of the soup. For takeouts the restaurant consistently adds a 20% gratuity. Which I have graciously paid. However, I have also not had the experience of having to censored essential components of the meal (ie crunchy noodles).
