I made the mistake and bought pre made ones from Wegmans this past week... and had to order this to recoup from the disappointment. First time at Basilico New York Deli, place was clean. You order and then they bring it to your table. My wife ordered the ham hero and I ordered the Cuban sandwich both with the Tuscan salad. The Ham hero was really good as was the salad. The Cuban on the other hand wasn't very good at all. Honestly it tasted like day or two old pork reheated several times. I ordered the Chicken Parm and an 8 oz Mac and Cheese. The chicken parm was a little under seasoned imo, but overall 6.5/10 taste wise but it was a pretty decent portion so I'd say it was a 7/10 overall. The spaghetti that came with the chicken parm was also under seasoned imo and the marinara sauce didn't adhere to the spaghetti very well but it was well cooked. Probably a 6/10 taste wise but easily could be an 8/10 if the sauce just actually stuck to the pasta. The Mac and Cheese was out of this world delicious and probably the best Mac and Cheese I've had in 5+ years. I would honestly come here just for the Mac and cheese, its 10/10 and priced pretty well considering how good it tastes. Overall I'd say its 8/10, I'll probably order a pizza or a sandwhich instead of the chicken parm but I'll definitely come back just so I can try the Mac and Cheese again. read more

My co workers raved how great this place was. I was in Fburg today today so figured I would check it. Order to go Italian Hero Large and Italian Hero small and chicken noodle soup. The small was put in a container and it's like they just put everything in the container and didn't close the sandwich I was like what deli puts a sandwich in the container and doesn't close it. My wife took a bite of the small sandwich after trying to close it was bone dry no Italian oil, seasoning or dressing. She was like what Italian deli doesn't put any oil or seasoning on a sandwich. The large was rolled and I thought maybe they just forgot to put the oil and seasoning on the small one. Similar bone dry sandwich took one bite and tossed both in the trash. I did think the sandwich could use a little more butter- it was not as oily a panini as it should have been (it wasn't at all). But it was flavored well and the sides were delicious. The slaw was an Amish style.. very fresh and healthy tasting. The service was extremely slow. There is a restaurant there too so that's probably why. We trusted Yelp and what a great find! We were traveling for vacation, stopped for a night in Fredericksburg, saw Basilico on Yelp with positive reviews, gave it a try, and we are so glad we did. This Italian/pizza/deli/gelato spot was better than expected. When we first read the menu, we wondered whether they offered too much to do anything well - not at all! We had pizza, pasta, and gelato - all were yummy. Please do not let the fact that you order at the counter lead you to think of this as a fast food place. After you order, servers bring your food and check on you. There is beer and wine to order and compliment your meal. The staff is super helpful and happy. The restaurant has a lot of seating - booths, tall tables, 2-tops, outdoor seating, and more. We ended our visit with gelato - order the small, the servings are HUGE! The restaurant is near the University of Mary Washington and the hospital. Should we find ourselves in Fredericksburg again, we will return! read more

I first tried this restaurant in 2021 and I remember having tried the fettuccine Chicken Alfredo (good), the Mac n cheese (great), and the carrot cake (bad). Now I've returned to see if the place is as good as I remember. I had a to-go order of the chicken fettuccine Alfredo $17.50, the custom chicken sandwich on ciabatta bread with a side of Mac n cheese $12, a slice of Oreo cake, and sampled the Oreo gelato. The chicken Alfredo was okay but definitely not as good as I last remembered and it's also crazy how the small amount of chicken given was an additional 5 whole dollars (ridiculous). The custom chicken sandwich on ciabatta bread was solid but nothing special. The mac n cheese was very good and easily the best item I've tried.
