I say the small quaint restaurants you get best food and service! We sat outside but the inside appeared to be clean full service bar as well! Everything we ordered was delicious! 10/10 recon

Stopped here on our way to Mt Vernon for an early breakfast. Large parking lot right next-door. This is a great place with amazing service!! We both ordered the chicken & biscuit with gravy and it may have been the best chicken we've ever had!! The biscuit was also delicious and the gravy well it made the meal!! We sat inside since it was early but there's a spacious outdoor patio. Jessica our server was so sweet and efficient. Highly recommend!!

    Shrimp & Grits

The shrimp & grits are fabulous!!! I popped into Mason-Dixon on Labor Day and it was packed! This restaurant must be beloved locally. Luckily, I did some research beforehand, so I knew to join the online waitlist before I left to head there (&probably should have joined even earlier than that!). The wait ended up being about an hour and you can check your number on the waitlist, which helped everyone manage their expectations. Eventually, I was sat at the bar. I ordered a coffee and the shrimp & grits, and later ordered biscuits & gravy to go. Coffee came out quickly but the food took over a half hour. Service at the bar was not good. She never checked in, never offered to refill my coffee or give me water. I always had to wave her down. The lady next to me never received her orange juice either. The food was amazing though, so I see why people love this place. Since I was sitting at the bar that directly looks into the kitchen, I could see how fast and hard the kitchen staff worked. When there were any issues, they immediately worked to rectify it. The shrinp & grits are delicious and unique. I've never had one where it was more soupy with so much sauce. The flavors were amazing. I will dream of this dish lol. Overall, I would totally come back again if I'm in the area!!

After hearing positive reviews from locals, I had to try it for myself and I was not disappointed!! Mason Dixon Cafe had a welcoming environment and friendly service on a weeknight. The loaded Brussels were perfectly crunchy and I loved the feta and balsamic topping. The food servings were huge for the sandwiches - I really liked the Jive Turkey for a thanksgiving vibe. It was messy though!! Enjoyed the meatloaf sandwich too, even better the second day as leftovers! Looking forward to trying more of their expansive menu :)

Stopped by on our way to DC and glad we did. Found this little gem that offers indoor and outside eating options. Their food is made fresh and they provide generous portions. I was also surprised by their variety of food and drink options. Food was delish. We shall return.

Food is always fantastic here. I got a buffalo chicken wrap with sweet potato tots. There are so many options on the menu. Only negative is this spot it generally packed during lunch. The inside is a little bit compact so sit outside if you have the choice! Food and service is always great. Ask for the garlic buffalo sauce!

You can't compare this gem to any other place in Fredericksburg. Everything on the menu is delicious and even the vegan. Cocktails are crafted by season and hats off to team for fast service! Nothing fancy about the ambiance but get there early because there is always a waitlist.

Had a wait time of ~10 mins. Has outdoor and indoor seating. Limited parking spot but lots on the street. Portion sizes are super large. Food- 7.5/10 for me initially as I had the jersey cheesesteak and there was too much salt. Our waiter was super sweet and had a different one made for me. 9/10 Decent brunch spot. Can get super noisy inside if lots of people.

We came back here for breakfast since we were in the area. I ordered the ham and cheese omelette with home fries. My daughter ordered the Veggie sandwich. My the southern breakfast sandwich. The staff is still friendly and very patient on waiting on taking our order. This has become an iconic place in Fredericksburg to eat and usually stays crowded. The coffee here is pretty good. The prices are reasonable for the area. The portion sizes are good. All the food was very tasty. The home has a lot of flavor to them. Still this place does not disappoint.

They're dead serious when they say their pancakes are huge LOL.. Love this place for breakfast whenever I visit FBurg. Their menu is really really big, I'm sure you'll find something that you like

Omelet with Swiss cheese, home fries, waffles (very good! Ask for crunchy) and a fruit salad.

Visiting VA for a few weeks. We stop by for breakfast on a Sunday after the gym. We had to wait 40 mins or so but at the end it was worth it. Very good food. Service was great/ very humble and home cooking feeling. I Will definitely come back. Please not they close at 2pm on Sundays...Again, the ambience comfy... relaxed

    Yum!

Our bartender/server was Lashone and she was funny, fast and friendly! She was pouring drinks for the ENTIRE restaurant and didn't miss a beat!! The breakfast menu is small but everything sounded fantastic. I chose the Steak Tacos; my husband chose the brie and bacon frittata (added by the chef since the quiche was sold out. Steak tacos were delicious (see pic). Menu said they had steak, cheesy scrambled eggs, tomato salsa, breakfast potatoes and cilantro. I didn't see or taste any potatoes, but the tacos were still delicious! I'd only recommend draining the salsa through a sieve because of the excess juice affecting the integrity of the tortilla. My husband's frittata was awful. The eggs were dry; he compared them to "eggs at the bottom of the warming tray at a cheap breakfast buffet." The chef also served a side salad alongside. My husband asked about subbing potatoes and Ms. Lashone made it happen. She was the star of our brunch: drinks were delicious, the conversational quips were quick and funny. She was attentive without being intrusive and made sure we felt welcomed and taken care of. 5 stars for her and my food; 1 for the frittata. I don't want to average it and tank the rating. We'll be back soon to see Lashone!

We were able to order whatever drink we wanted on the menu. For food, they brought trays out buffet style. We tried a variety of things. The star of the show was the Brussels sprouts. They were cooked to perfection and had a great sweet sauce. I enjoyed the salad too. They also brought out wings, mini burgers, mini fried chicken sandwiches, and tuna. At 12:25 p.m., the hostess informed us they were catching up on tables but that we would be seated soon. At 12:30 p.m., we were finally seated. Our waitress did not greet us warmly, make eye contact, introduce herself, or provide any information about the restaurant or menu. At 12:45 p.m., we ordered our food and drinks, and at 12:50 p.m., our drinks arrived. Around 1:30 p.m., we realized our food still had not come out, while other tables being served by our waitress were receiving prompt and friendly service. Our waitress passed our table four times without stopping to provide an update on our food or apologize for the extensive wait time. We were finally able to get her attention and politely asked about the status of our order. Without an apology or acknowledgment of our experience, she responded that she would tell the chefs to "rush" our order. We never asked for our food to be rushed -- we simply wanted an update because we had already been waiting far longer than expected. When our food was eventually brought out by another staff member, it was cold after nearly two hours of waiting. At that point, my husband asked to speak with the manager because not only was the wait time unacceptable, but the food was also cold. The manager eventually came to our table, apologized for the delay, and offered to discount the meal. My husband thanked him for the apology, but by that point, we decided the experience was not worth salvaging. We told the manager we did not want the cold food or watered-down drinks. Not only was our Mother's Day celebration ruined, but the lack of accountability from the staff and the poor customer service made the entire experience extremely disappointing. Service: The first impression was a little mixed. The hostess wasn't very welcoming when we asked about a booth for our family of five (two adults and three younger kids) and didn't seem open to exploring the option. Thankfully, our server, DeQuandre (Deq?), completely turned that around. He was friendly, attentive, and offered great recommendations. We appreciated his visits as he was energetic and very hospitable, highly recommend asking for him when you visit. Food: We started with the buffalo dip. It comes with chips, but Deq was awesome and add some pita, which was a great call. The pita was slightly crisped (almost lightly fried) but still soft inside and paired perfectly with the dip, which had great flavor and good chunks of chicken. For burgers, we ordered the Spicy Wrangler (March 2026 Burger of the Month) and the Whiskey Burger. The Wrangler had a lot going on but the flavors worked well together. The Whiskey Burger was delicious, the sauce was a bit sweeter than I usually prefer, but the bacon was excellent. Only critique would be the burgers were slightly underdone even for medium, but still enjoyable. The onion rings were a standout, though the breading-to-onion ratio leaned a little heavy. The fries were decent but nothing particularly great about them. Atmosphere: Casual and open, but fairly loud. Even though it wasn't very busy for a Sunday lunch, the music and bar noise made it a little difficult at times to hear others at our table. I wouldn't consider this a date night type atmosphere, more casual open dining. Drinks: Solid beer selection with enough variety for most tastes, plus a small cocktail menu and a selection of wines. Overall: Harry's Downtown is a solid spot for a casual lunch or dinner. If you're in the mood for a good burger, or consider yourself a bit of a burger enthusiast, it's definitely worth checking out. This visit was positive enough to plan another visit to explore other delicious sounding menu items. We'll definitely be requesting Deq when we return! Thank you!
