Located of a main road tucked in a nondescript shopping center you'll find Paul's Bakery a hidden gem in the Fredericksburg area. Inside you'll find a very cozy mom and pop shop where you can find all sorts of treats from pies cakes cookies and especially donuts. I was sent this location from someone in the area for a request of donuts but when I got there I decided to try a little bit of everything. Delicious donuts with a friendly smile at a dry warm and inviting location that smells like sweet dreams. Ordered dozen donuts and highlight that any specialty donuts such as the maple bacon donut come with a small upcharge to the dozen but very much worth it. The lady attending us was very patience as we were just trying to pick it all in our dozen but never rushed us and ensured we got all we wanted. Ordered my coffee and she also advised it comes with a complimentary choice of glazed or cinnamon donut holes that made it that much more sweeter. We pre ordered 36 cupcakes for our parents 50th wedding anniversary gathering. These cupcakes were so delicious and very squishy. I added different color edible glitter to make them all sparkly and added the toothpick 50th anniversary signs. The cupcakes were ready for pickup on time. Ordering wasn't the easiest process because we wanted to make some changes and customize the flavors. There were something's we wished we could change but the pick up was smooth and on time. The most delicious donuts ever. They're so soft and fluffy and that chocolate frosting is like a dreamy pillow of goodness. Even the frosting is fluffy. Idk how they do it, but it's delightful. My mom bought all the apple fritters they had today, which was 11. She planned on getting two dozen, but we came later in the morning and that's all they had left. She also got two brownies and two cream filled donuts. I also got two brownies and two cream filled donuts. The cream filling doesn't really taste like anything so that's the only complaint but who cares when the rest of the donut tastes so good. Service is very friendly and the shop is always clean. The place is busy, so get ready to order as soon as you walk in the door or step to the side because the folks behind the counter want to keep things moving. There's plenty of parking and they are closed on Sunday and Monday. They open super early and close early, so definitely watch the time. OMG if you live in Fredericksburg and have not tried Paul's bakery, you are definitely missing something! These donuts are by far the melt in your mouth, kind of donuts, no matter what kind you pick or what time of day you go in. I tried this bakery for the first time today after reading reviews online. Those reviews are definitely true, the bakery is wonderful and has super pleasant employees working behind the counter to assist. Once the young lady realized it was my first time, she took the time to explain different offerings in spite of other folks in the shop waiting in line to be serviced. That was something I really appreciated. I settled on my two donuts for my first visit and was pleasantly informed that my glazed donut was free as a first time customer! I was looking to grab a quick donut and coffee at a local bakery in Fredericksburg, VA before a two-hour drive home back to Norfolk. After a quick search on Yelp I came across Paul's Bakery, and after seeing their rave reviews and that they had a check in offer for a free donut, I knew this was going to be where I was stopping before my departure back to Hamtpon Roads. When I pulled up I could barely find a parking spot, and when I opened the door to enter, the line wrapped around the bakery. It was at this moment that I knew these donuts to be fire, and I decided to order a dozen to bring back home to my family. Whew chile, these donuts are life do you hear me!? The Oreo, bomb ... the Lemon, bomb ... the apple cinnamon, bomb ... and the original glazed, yes gawd honey, you guessed it, BOMB! The donuts here taste like miniature funnel cakes just without all the extra grease, just tasty! Moreover, I was able to snag a dozen, an extra free donut with my check-in offer, a large coffee, and six free donut holes for ordering a large coffee for just a little over $13, quite a steal tbh! Listen to me, Paul's is going to have to be a go-to spot for coffee and donuts anytime I'm traveling to (or through) Fredericksburg. Stopped by this gem yesterday afternoon. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Sadly, no picture of the donuts we got, they were so light and airy and delicious! I did manage to get a picture of the eclair. They are my favorite and it's hard to find a good one. A lot of places are skimpy with the filling, but not these. FXBG's BEST bakery! Our daughter and son in law served an assortment of Paul's baked goods at their recent wedding reception. Our guests were very impressed and happy with the good old fashioned bakery vibe!! Highly recommend them. Service was outstanding (Brittany is outstanding), and we enjoyed every crumb!! Very fresh donuts. I highly recommend the cinnamon sugar! They have a lot of other baked goods aside from the donuts but I haven't tried anything else yet. You can get a dozen donuts for $10.50 which I feel is a reasonable price! Although they have all the popular donuts, I was hoping for a little more variety. Oh, Paul's Bakery. You were my first bakery love, and will always hold a dear place in my heart. My first experience with you was your fabulous donuts, at my first job (so many firsts!) in high school. The little cakey donut with chocolate buttercream and walnuts was always mine, and everyone knew they'd better not touch it! Really, though, Paul's is forever tied to my teen and early adult years. Besides the donuts which I looked forward to every Friday, when I moved out on my own, visiting the bakery to pick out a few goodies was always a special treat, and soothed the homesickness from living all alone when my family had moved across the country and my mom could no longer bake me sweets. Then, when I got married, I wanted Paul's to make my wedding cake, but (the one bad thing I can say about them) they were unwilling to make the specific sizes I wanted, and I ended up having a whole dessert table (because duh) featuring their brownies cut up like petit fours with little flowers on top, crème horns, and their raspberry jelly-filled donut holes. This is a true old fashioned bakery. You're not getting any fancy cakes here. They are buttercream (in my opinion some of the best) with flowers and that swirly piped edge. Sometimes isn't that just what you want, though? You do have a variety of options, although go in the morning because by afternoon it's slim pickings. Besides cake and donuts they offer several varieties of pies, eclairs, crème horns (get them!), elephant ears, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, muffins, and I think maybe bread sometimes, but I can't remember. Their prices are ridiculously cheap, and service is generally good to great. Sometimes they seem a little snippy when they are busy, but it's never been enough to bother me. What a fun place. Yelp check in=free donut! Go early if you can. They were out of a couple things by 12. High quality pastries and donuts. The jelly donut holes were still available, they were SO GOOD! The jelly was typical (I wish it was homemade) but the dough was incredible. Slightly crispy on the outside, even after the powdered sugar, and so soft in the middle, not dry at all. Good ratio of jelly to dough, this is very important! The cinnamon sugar cake donut was delish, granulated sugar in this case, one of my faves. Birthday cake by the slice-oh yeah! Great amount of frosting, yellow cake with white frosting, the sugary frosting, A+. Other things in the case looked great too, I got so much I had no room for the eclairs but based on how they looked I would tell you to get one.
