Loved the cronut and iced lavender latte was perfect! Kids had chocolate sprinkle and Somoa, and they both enjoyed. My only complaint is they have no bathroom for paying customers. I can't go 5 stars when you have a bathroom and don't allow customers to use it. Donuts were 4.5 stars, Coffee 5 stars.
While staying at the Publisher, I couldn't resist stopping in for breakfast treats. Once I saw cronies on their menu, it sold me. Their version was nicely glazed if not as flaky layered as other places. I even brought some back to my hubby in Atlanta and he enjoyed his VA treats too. Stop by and support the local businesses!
Another road trip stop added to my east coast travels! What amazing donuts! We couldn't decide on one each so we went with 6 total to share for our 9 hour drive. Freddy's cronut was, hands down, the best of my life. Already regretting that we had to share it... Service was amazing, even when I asked what each donut was since the signs were missing. And what a cool space! I'm so bummed that I can't have a Freddy Donuts in my regular rotation. I also wish it was closer because I want a donut birthday cake SO BAD. Do yourself a favor and stop in whenever you can and enjoy!
Still our favorite donut place in the Burg! Folks are always friendly! The donuts are ALWAYS fresh! They make them fresh on site, sell them until they run out and make more! They DO run out sometimes because well, like I said they make them fresh and do not store them. If you want all your favorites in stock every visit I'd go to a chain store. If you want fresh delicious donuts and maybe the best apple fritters I've had, them check this place out!
Stopped in while visiting from Connecticut and Fred's absolutely delivered. We grabbed a mix of specialty donuts plus the biggest cinnamon roll I've ever seen, and every single thing was excellent. The salted caramel and churro donuts were the standouts--both were ridiculously good. The Fruity Pebble donut was total sweetness overload in the best way possible. Even the coffee was really good. If I lived closer, this place would be a problem.

It was 2 hours before closing and they were almost out of donuts with just a few of their chocolate caramel and their carrot cake donuts remaining. We took one each and the carrot cake donut was the winner. The server said that they had some big groups come in and kinda clean them out of donuts and they were considering closing shop. Right after us the a few more families came for coffee and they literally closed shop.. good for them. Now seems like a gas station building converted into this cool little donut n coffee shop. May try again if I get a chance. Btw...while we sat and enjoyed the donuts with coffee on their benches we saw a lot of families come in and try to open the door only to be told that they had closed early. Definitely looks like a local fav.
Excellent donut! Thick but chewy, soft and yummy! Hubby had the maple bacon donut and I had the frosted fruity pebbles donut and they were both wonderful! Service was friendly, quick and efficient. The quirky little shop was visually pleasing with some cute and quaint decor.
We always love stopping when in the area. Service is always quick and staff is very friendly. The donuts never disappoint. Be sure to go early in the day to get a good flavor variety. They have a fun mural on the building my kiddos love. One thing, I wish they had more seating and parking options.
The donuts are excellent. A lot of different varieties if you get there early in the morning, if not they are gone fast.
3.75 is a better average. Came towards the end of the day so the selection seemed limited. Got an apple fritter, funnel cake donut, and pumpkin cider cake donut. The only one worth getting again - is the apple fritter. But I still give that no more than 4 stars. It was way too big / thick, low glaze to donut ratio, but I thought the texture was solid. Chewy, not dry, and good taste. Just needs to be about half the thickness and a little more glaze and it would be closer to a 5. The other two were just ok.
Cute spot to grab a little deserved snack. Not too many flavors were available when we visited but good customer service. Donuts were alright, but nothing I'd rush back for.
Amazing spot for gourmet doughnuts. There is nothing standard about these - we had a snickers doughnut covered in caramel, chocolate, and peanuts, and a cronut, and they were borderline life changing. The pumpkin spice dirty chai was also amazing. There is not much room inside, but there are several covered picnic tables outside. This is a great place to grab a dozen doughnuts to go when you need to bring something to a work meeting or are feeding houseguests.
4.5 stars! Service was friendly and quick. The shop is small and does not have indoor seating. If the weather is nice, there are two picnic tables outside. We tried the glazed blueberry and chocolate cake donuts. They were way bigger than a Dunkin donut and way less sweet, but still had flavor. The Boston cream donut was delicious as well! I love that it's family owned/local too.

Delicious 10/10 very fresh. The perfect sweet treat or cheat day. Would recommend these over any store (Wawa, Krispy Kreme, Walmart, etc) or fast food option like Dunkin. If you have the craving... make the trip! You won't be disappointed. (: Staff were witty, fast, & sweet. read more
It's been a month since I've visited here and I find myself still talking about these. Most donuts here are slightly larger than my fist (my glove size is M) and only cost $1.95. The ones I tried were the yeast type of donut and had a terrific consistency being soft and not too dense. Also tried an apple fritter that was almost twice as large as the donuts. The highlight were the croissant donuts. They were layers of buttery, flaky dough in a square format. I've tried the ones from Dominic Ansel when the cronut was at its peak and I prefer the Freddy version. I found the ones with the drizzle on them to be better. If you can't commit to a whole cronut you can get cronut bites for 25 cents each! read more
Move over Dominique Ansel, Freddy Donuts got you beat at the cronut game. Being from New York the cronut is a staple- Freddy's got them beat in every way- the cronut itself is super light and crisp. The flakey buttery layers is heaven. The size of the cronut is huge compared to the Dominique Ansel one. Freddy's is the size of your hand where the other is a quarter size smaller. The cronut at Freddy's is also cheaper going at $4.25 versus $7.75 at Dominique Ansel. They come in glaze drizzle, chocolate and vanilla drizzle, maple drizzle and French toast. Cronuts not available or don't feel like a big cronut...ask if they have the cronut bites. They come in a set of three and you can get either glaze drizzle or cinnamon sugar. The size of their classic and specialty donuts are huge. We are talking easily can be sharable (if you want to). Currently the pricing of their donuts are: $1.95 house/ $2.75 specialty/$2.75 cake/ $3.25 monster filled. They have quite the creative list of flavors. No gluten free options though. Their donuts are light and flavorful. It's not overly sweet at all and well balanced. By their size you get your bang for your buck. If you want to get your choosing of flavors, it's better to go at the start of the day. Later in the day you chance that they could be sold out on flavors - especially if they are busy that day. The donuts are packed in whimsical boxes that are colorful and say "You Deserve A Donut." They also have drinks for purchase but we didn't grab any- maybe next time. On the wall they also have cute donut themed shirts with popular cartoons and characters like Bluey, Pikachu and Deadpool. There is limited parking around the shop. Otherwise plenty of street parking. We took our donuts to go but you can also dine there in front of the store where they have picnic tables. The building looks like it might have been a service gas station in the past. It's decorated with a snake mural and they also have neat drawings inside on their chalkboard menu. We will definitely be back since we have friends that live in the next town over who are also huge fan. 100% recommend this sweet place. read more

Amazing spot for gourmet doughnuts. There is nothing standard about these - we had a snickers doughnut covered in caramel, chocolate, and peanuts, and a cronut, and they were borderline life changing. The pumpkin spice dirty chai was also amazing. There is not much room inside, but there are several covered picnic tables outside. This is a great place to grab a dozen doughnuts to go when you need to bring something to a work meeting or are feeding houseguests. read more

Every time I go here I am amazed. I know I have to go Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The staff is amazing!!!! We had a donut cake made for Mr daughter's birthday and it came out incredible and what we asked for it taste great. The staff on the weekends are amazing!!!! read more

Amazing fresh and fluffy donuts with creative flavors like Samoa, caramel macchiato, French toast and horchata, plus cronuts and cinnamon rolls (weekends) and really delicious coffees. Everything is made up fresh onsite throughout the day. The donuts are huge, cronuts and cinnamon rolls even larger. They also offer some turnovers and other pastries. Servers are friendly and will happily tell you the specialty flavors of the week and make suggestions for coffee drinks. There's often a line because everyone knows how good the donuts are here but they keep it moving as fast as they can. If you bring your pup they have a jar of dog treats too. All seating is outdoors. There's a private parking lot and street parking. It's a short walk to the Mary Washington campus or old town Fredericksburg shopping too. For my money these are simply the best donuts in Northern Virginia and I'll happily drive the hour to get them. read more
Yes, I am back. Your favorite self certified, donut, connoisseur, aficionado, sommelier. This location pops up like a bright star in the middle of a dull desert. The exterior is brightly painted and gives a nice artistic flair to the neighborhood. There's a cute mural on the side and outdoor seating. It looks like a converted gas station. I got lucky that when I arrived on a early Saturday afternoon, there wasn't anyone waiting, but many people came in after me. So I was greeted and served quickly. There's a nice selection of donuts, and I decided to go for the glazed, jelly, and the flat cronut. I've never seen a flat cronut, so I had to try it. The glaze was not out with the other donuts, so I had to request it. It had a nice fluffiness, wasn't too sweet or too sticky on the fingers. The flat cronut was quite interesting. Crispy on the edges, a little gooey on the interior, and a nice amount of sweetness. The most disappointing was the jelly. If you see my other doughnut reviews, I don't like the fake gelatinous goo of strawberry jelly that many donut places use. But I took a chance, and that's exactly what it was. So that negatively impacted the experience, and the donut itself was just average. So, overall, it's worth a stop, and you won't be disappointed. read more

They got rid of student discounts but the donuts are still very affordable. They are so big and sweet, I would recommend going with something basic, if you're like me. I tried the boston cream in the past and it almost put me in a sugar coma. I had the strawberry glazed more recently and it was the perfect level of sweetness without feeling so dense and heavy read more
I may be back to try something different but the options were limited the afternoon I went for cake donuts and I'm not a huge yeast donut gal. I went with the pumpkin spice old fashioned but I really didn't get any pumpkin flavor. It was cooked well, crispy outside soft inside but just lacked flavor in general. This one fell a little short for my first try. read more

These donuts were pretty spectacular! Super fresh and squishy even at noon. We ate one each here in their outdoor seating area and took one to go for later. Super friendly donutista greeted us and described the delicious choices of donuts. Whenever we are back in town visiting family we will make it a point to come here! read more

Legit some of the best donuts I've ever had. The prices are a little expensive but it's worth it. I had 6 different donuts and all of them were delicious to good but if I was ranking them I'd say: cronut, specialty Oreo, glazed, French toast. blueberry pie, and old fashioned donut . Whenever visiting Fredericksbrug I'll definitely need to come back to get these delicious donuts again and try the other flavors I missed out on: cookies n cream, Apple fritter, cinnamon roll, and fruity pebbles. read more

Had to stop by while I was in the area. So in love! Doughnuts are made fresh everyday, every hour. The dough on every doughnut is so fluffy. Each doughnut ranges from $2.75-$3.75 each. Worth it x the ambience is fun and colorful as a doughnut shop should be. Staff were friendly, and informative. Made the picking process easy peasy :) read more
Came here a bit later in the day so the options were slim, but the donuts regardless were super tasty! I don't usually frequent donut shops but a stranger I met on the street told me this place is one of the best Fredericksburg has to offer, and I gotta agree (at least for donuts). Paired well with coffee! Service was great, donut was tasty, seating options are mainly focused outdoors. read more

Spent the day in Fredericksburg and gave Freddy's a try before heading out for the day. I went with a Boston Cream and their version of a croissant donut. The Boston cream was quite good. It had a lot of filling and is quite heavy, though not dense. The croissant donut was interesting... A square of laminated dough with what seemed to be a bit of a cinnamon-sugar topping. I thought the texture was quite good. We did also get one of the apple filled donuts which was a bit off. I'm not sure how they make it, but the dough on the inside was fairly raw. Might have been an off bake. read more
