    Salad and gnocchi

The atmosphere was lovely, our server was great! He was so friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. I had the salad with salmon, my daughter had gnocchi and my son had pasta. We also ordered a slice of cheesecake to go.

When Fredericksburg Restaurant Week comes around, I never miss a beat to visit Orofino because they have one of my all-time favorite Italian dishes: sacchetti with pear and ricotta. I LIVE for this dish. It's the perfect balance of sweet and savory in a creamy white sauce. I honestly wish they served it year-around. For an appetizer we had the Trio Bruschetta, which was amazing. What I love the most is that you're able to get the best of sweet (ricotta and honey) and savory (pesto) in one appetizer. Service at Orofino is always top-notch. On the night we visited, our server was training a colleague, and it was all super seamless. The ambiance was perfect, though the back room can get a little loud given the acoustics and lack of sound absorbing panels.

The pesto gnocchi was one of the better decisions of my day. I added chicken. It was creamy flavor explosion with every bite. Regarding the service, it started off rocky. The critical listening skills were not there. If a manager or team lead had stopped by our table for a greeting, then I would have shared the specifics. Alas, they did not. We carried on with our meal with a mental note of who not to receive as a server in the future. The gnocchi will be worth the return trip. I will try it over and over again with a different protein because I'm hooked.

We've been coming here for about 9 years and have loved every visit. Most recently we visited for dinner on a weeknight and it was great once again! Service is excellent, so is their menu. Their execution is spot-on! Prices are great too, so what's not to love?!?! There's a reason the place is always busy and reservations are often hard to come by. On this recent visit we tried a pizza to start, their margherita and it was amazing! Crust was so very good, so was the sauce and toppings. They also have the Pizza DOC certification, which helps to legitimize their pizza, as the Italian gov't says it's being done right. Next up was some pasta dishes... The sauce that the orecchiette had was so very flavorful! I opted for the meatball option to come with it - it was so tender and flavorful too. To finish I enjoyed their blood orange sorbetto and an espresso martini and both were very nice. Highly recommend stopping by to give them a try... Easily the best, most authentic Italian restaurant in the Fredericksburg area.

It's been a while since I have visited and lasts night visit was still wonderful. Very attentive service and food came out super quickly and tasted amazing. Tables are spaced out well and ample seating throughout. Friend and I enjoyed our visit starting with drink, appetizers and ending with a shared dessert! Won't wait as long to visit next time! Easily made reservations using open table.

We held my daughter's baby shower here yesterday, and I can't say enough about how wonderful it turned out! The Manager (Tim) worked with me through my planning stage and offered helpful suggestions regarding room/table layout, as well as menu selections. The wait staff was a cut above - polite, attentive, efficient and professional. The FOOD was phenomenal (as usual), and we received many complements on our choice of venue. We had the entire back room to ourselves and it was just right for our 28 attendees. It was a hot July day but Orofino staff ensured the AC was set to a level that ensured everyone was kept comfortable. As downtown restaurant venues go, Orofino's is an optimum choice for ambiance, food, service AND overall cost!

Food was so delicious! We truly enjoyed our meals. We were a group of 8. We ordered appetizers Capresse Mozzarella and meatballs. They were incredibly delicious. We also ordered pizza, salmon, steakMeals, 2 different chicken meals. Everything was cooked to perfection! The service was excellent and the restaurant ambiance was pleasant and so enjoyable. I highly recommend this place, especially the salmon meal which was one of the best I have ever had.

We loved this cozy Italian spot while we were visiting Fredericksburg. Such a good find! There is a cute little alley way with outdoor seating that makes it feel like you are in a little Italian village. The indoor space is just as lovely. Our server, Jack, took great care of us, and explained the menu with new monthly offerings and specials. Everything we ordered was fantastic. My husband loved their homemade balsamic on the salad and I loved their pomodoro sauce. The oil they serve with the bread had a little kick and was so good! We got a piece of their pistachio cake to go - too full to eat it there. It was delicate, light, and the flavors worked well together. Next time we are in town, I would love to try the pizza and the desserts. You really can't go wrong with this gem of a restaurant.

We stopped into Orofino for a quick bite after a long day on the road and were pleasantly surprised. The bread service with olive oil was especially delicious. Our waitress was warm, personable, and attentive. I ordered the gnocchi pesto, which was excellent--the pasta was perfectly cooked, and the creamy sauce was rich and flavorful. My partner had the veal chop, which was tender and beautifully breaded. We were seated in the outdoor alleyway, which felt both pleasant and private--a nice escape from the street while still enjoying the fresh air.

Hands down my favorite restaurant in downtown! The Orecchiette imy favorite pasta on the menu. You have to get the Trio Bruschetta! We just got their pizza for the first time which is what prompted this review because I know now after going so many times they can truly never do wrong!! Also, I forgot my book once and they called me to make sure I got it back! That said, Orofino has my heart!!

The ones I tried were the yeast type of donut and had a terrific consistency being soft and not too dense. Also tried an apple fritter that was almost twice as large as the donuts. The highlight were the croissant donuts. They were layers of buttery, flaky dough in a square format. I've tried the ones from Dominic Ansel when the cronut was at its peak and I prefer the Freddy version. I found the ones with the drizzle on them to be better. If you can't commit to a whole cronut you can get cronut bites for 25 cents each!

The size of the cronut is huge compared to the Dominique Ansel one. Freddy's is the size of your hand where the other is a quarter size smaller. The cronut at Freddy's is also cheaper going at $4.25 versus $7.75 at Dominique Ansel. They come in glaze drizzle, chocolate and vanilla drizzle, maple drizzle and French toast. The size of their classic and specialty donuts are huge. We are talking easily can be sharable (if you want to). Currently the pricing of their donuts are: $1.95 house/ $2.75 specialty/$2.75 cake/ $3.25 monster filled. They have quite the creative list of flavors. No gluten free options though. Their donuts are light and flavorful. It's not overly sweet at all and well balanced. By their size you get your bang for your buck. If you want to get your choosing of flavors, it's better to go at the start of the day. Later in the day you chance that they could be sold out on flavors - especially if they are busy that day. The donuts are packed in whimsical boxes that are colorful and say "You Deserve A Donut." They also have drinks for purchase but we didn't grab any- maybe next time. On the wall they also have cute donut themed shirts with popular cartoons and characters like Bluey, Pikachu and Deadpool. There is limited parking around the shop. Otherwise plenty of street parking. We took our donuts to go but you can also dine there in front of the store where they have picnic tables. The building looks like it might have been a service gas station in the past. It's decorated with a snake mural and they also have neat drawings inside on their chalkboard menu. We will definitely be back since we have friends that live in the next town over who are also huge fan. 100% recommend this sweet place.

As usual, my wife started looking for a place we haven't been before. Having been in Fredericksburg now for almost 2 1/2 years, the list of such places is getting shorter. We were out Route 3 west of 95, and she found a place called Affogato Europa Cafe. It's a family-run cafe and bakery featuring pastries, sandwiches, coffees, and lots of other sweets. It was a very clean, friendly looking place. We looked at the menu and my wife decided to have a Beef and Onion Burek, which is a traditional Balkan flaky pastry filled with, in this case, beef and onions. It was fantastic. Very flavorful and the pastry melted in your mouth. I'm a sucker for anything with the word "breakfast" in it. I had the Balkan Breakfast Panini. This marvelous sandwich contains egg, chorizo, cheese spread, provolone, tomato, and arugula. It was outstanding and the chorizo was very tasty (though a bit hard to bite through). I know I love a sandwich when after I put the last bite in my mouth, I feel a little sad because it is all done. Such was the case here. My wife had a Cortado espresso, which she loved but was a bit strong for me. I had a London Fog, which seemed like a latte with a hint of Earl Gray tea. I loved it, and when my wife tasted it she pronounced it "nummy". She doesn't use that word a lot so when she does I know she loves it. After lunch we split a Lava Cake, which is a small but decadent chocolate cupcake. The dining room was small but comfortable. The servers we encountered at the counter were very friendly. Rest room was very clean. It's not really close to us, but when were shopping out on Route 3, we'll certainly try them again.
