    Pesto gnocchi with chicken
    Yolanda H.

The pesto gnocchi was one of the better decisions of my day. I added chicken. It was creamy flavor explosion with every bite. Regarding the service, it started off rocky. The critical listening skills were not there. If a manager or team lead had stopped by our table for a greeting, then I would have shared the specifics. Alas, they did not. We carried on with our meal with a mental note of who not to receive as a server in the future. The gnocchi will be worth the return trip. I will try it over and over again with a different protein because I'm hooked.

We held my daughter's baby shower here yesterday, and I can't say enough about how wonderful it turned out! The Manager (Tim) worked with me through my planning stage and offered helpful suggestions regarding room/table layout, as well as menu selections. The wait staff was a cut above - polite, attentive, efficient and professional. The FOOD was phenomenal (as usual), and we received many complements on our choice of venue. We had the entire back room to ourselves and it was just right for our 28 attendees. It was a hot July day but Orofino staff ensured the AC was set to a level that ensured everyone was kept comfortable. As downtown restaurant venues go, Orofino's is an optimum choice for ambiance, food, service AND overall cost!

We've been coming here for about 9 years and have loved every visit. Most recently we visited for dinner on a weeknight and it was great once again! Service is excellent, so is their menu. Their execution is spot-on! Prices are great too, so what's not to love?!?! There's a reason the place is always busy and reservations are often hard to come by. On this recent visit we tried a pizza to start, their margherita and it was amazing! Crust was so very good, so was the sauce and toppings. They also have the Pizza DOC certification, which helps to legitimize their pizza, as the Italian gov't says it's being done right. Next up was some pasta dishes... The sauce that the orecchiette had was so very flavorful! I opted for the meatball option to come with it - it was so tender and flavorful too. To finish I enjoyed their blood orange sorbetto and an espresso martini and both were very nice. Highly recommend stopping by to give them a try... Easily the best, most authentic Italian restaurant in the Fredericksburg area.

It's been a while since I have visited and lasts night visit was still wonderful. Very attentive service and food came out super quickly and tasted amazing. Tables are spaced out well and ample seating throughout. Friend and I enjoyed our visit starting with drink, appetizers and ending with a shared dessert! Won't wait as long to visit next time! Easily made reservations using open table.

Food was so delicious! We truly enjoyed our meals. We were a group of 8. We ordered appetizers Capresse Mozzarella and meatballs. They were incredibly delicious. We also ordered pizza, salmon, steakMeals, 2 different chicken meals. Everything was cooked to perfection! The service was excellent and the restaurant ambiance was pleasant and so enjoyable. I highly recommend this place, especially the salmon meal which was one of the best I have ever had.

We loved this cozy Italian spot while we were visiting Fredericksburg. Such a good find! There is a cute little alley way with outdoor seating that makes it feel like you are in a little Italian village. The indoor space is just as lovely. Our server, Jack, took great care of us, and explained the menu with new monthly offerings and specials. Everything we ordered was fantastic. My husband loved their homemade balsamic on the salad and I loved their pomodoro sauce. The oil they serve with the bread had a little kick and was so good! We got a piece of their pistachio cake to go - too full to eat it there. It was delicate, light, and the flavors worked well together. Next time we are in town, I would love to try the pizza and the desserts. You really can't go wrong with this gem of a restaurant.

We stopped into Orofino for a quick bite after a long day on the road and were pleasantly surprised. The bread service with olive oil was especially delicious. Our waitress was warm, personable, and attentive. I ordered the gnocchi pesto, which was excellent--the pasta was perfectly cooked, and the creamy sauce was rich and flavorful. My partner had the veal chop, which was tender and beautifully breaded. We were seated in the outdoor alleyway, which felt both pleasant and private--a nice escape from the street while still enjoying the fresh air.

Hands down my favorite restaurant in downtown! The Orecchiette imy favorite pasta on the menu. You have to get the Trio Bruschetta! We just got their pizza for the first time which is what prompted this review because I know now after going so many times they can truly never do wrong!! Also, I forgot my book once and they called me to make sure I got it back! That said, Orofino has my heart!!

Beautiful interior, the steak was amazing. Lobster ravioli 2/10. I would likely give them a second chance.

I've become a tougher reviewer over the years because food is expensive, and if I'm paying for a…read moredining experience, I expect more than "good enough." I've been to this restaurant before, years ago, and I probably would have said it was good. Sadly, today's visit was awful. This is often presented as Fredericksburg's version of upscale dining, but it just isn't. The pasta tasted store-bought, the flavor profiles were flat, and the tomato sauce was overwhelmingly acidic. The mozzarella appetizer with lemon butter? Absolutely not. It felt like I was eating a culinary mistake from the 1970s. It looked like a grilled cheese sandwich covered in sauce and drenched in lemon butter. Nothing about it worked. The arancini was forgettable. My dining partner couldn't even finish the lasagna. It was extremely over-sauced, sloppily presented, and tasted only a small step above something you'd buy frozen at the grocery store. To be fair, the Pomodoro was the only dish at the table that was reasonably enjoyable. However, even that felt overpriced for what was presented. When you're charging premium prices for a simple pasta dish, I expect exceptional ingredients, technique, or house-made pasta. This wasn't that. It felt like a basic pasta dish with a premium price tag attached to it. Maybe my expectations were too high based on the restaurant's reputation, but at these prices, "decent" simply isn't enough. The lone bright spot was our server, who was attentive, friendly, and apologetic. Honestly, the service is the only reason this review gets a star. If I were rating the server alone, it would have been three stars. The atmosphere didn't help. It was cold inside the restaurant, extremely loud, and the lighting seemed to have an identity crisis. One minute it was dim, the next it was bright. If there hadn't been so many elderly people dining, I might have thought I had accidentally wandered into a rave. I couldn't hear my dinner partner without leaning across the table. Even our server apologized and mentioned that it's not usually that loud. I left genuinely disappointed. If you've never ventured beyond Fredericksburg, you might consider this fine dining. But if you've experienced great Italian food elsewhere, you'll likely know there's a significant difference. Significant. Unfortunately, this visit missed the mark on nearly every level.

Now, let me be clear: Nicole the bartender is the sole reason this place isn't getting the kind of rating you give a broken lawnmower. She was thoughtful, attentive, and smiled like she actually meant it--which is rarer in restaurants these days than a Baptist drinking a margarita in public. But then the food showed up and dragged the whole evening back down the hill. The flatbread pizza was so thin I'm convinced the crust started life as a Nabisco cracker. It was edible, in the technical sense. The calamari, on the other hand, was about 85% breading--looked like somebody dumped a bag of fried socks on a plate. Not greasy, I'll give 'em that, but mostly just a pile of extra coating searching desperately for a squid. So, yes, Bravo did better... but only because Nicole held the rope while the rest of the meal dangled over the cliff.
