    Spring rolls and Wonton Soup

Enjoyed delicious spring rolls and wonton soup for lunch at the cute restaurant down from the Hallmark store. Lots of seating, great decor, and excellent service.

The foo was delicious, our server was polite and the environment was a perfect chill lunch spot!

    Spring Rolls!

Visited for the first time this evening. started with spring rolls and dumplings for appetizers. They were very tasty. The spring rolls are crunchy and came with the sweet-and-sour sauce while the dumplings came with something that looked like soy sauce, but it was slightly sweet, as well as salty. Thai Fried Rice: What do you think about the dish? The flavor was top tier and the chicken was in big pieces so it was easy to find. Everything was seasoned, it was very good. I was delighted by how well the pineapple fried rice came out. All the flavors were delicate and texture is subtle. The onions were lightly sautéed and had a gentle crispness and tomatoes in the same vein. Service and the atmosphere is top notch, lots of attention and our seating preference was granted. Something was up with the tap tonight but 60 minute IPA saved the day. The california roll was very good, though not as crunchy good nonetheless. The fire roll was light on spiciness, but fresh and beautiful without a doubt. Shout out to this local restaurant's support for the Port Tobacco Players. Bring your tickets stubs for a discount.

SO GOOD! Very generous portion, hot and fresh. We got the drunken noodles and pad thai. I would love to try more of their menu! Couldn't have asked for better

I needed an evening bite to eat while I was in town and I was pleasantly surprised to find such a great Thai place on the road. I ordered the fried spring rolls. It comes with 4 and sauce. They were hot and delicious! Loved the crunch and how packed they were. I also ordered the pad see eaw. The picture doesn't do it justice at all! It was really good! It lacked a little bit of sauce which I enjoy with this dish and the chicken was a little dry which is why I gave it 4 stars. Otherwise the flavors were there and I would go back if I'm ever in town again!

I've loved this place for quite some time now! All of the food I've ever gotten has been so flavorful. My favorite is the drunken noodle with chicken followed by a mango sticky rice for dessert. The spice, followed by something sweet, is the perfect combination! Alcoholic drinks have been hit or miss, but I've found if you tell them exactly what you want, with the amounts, it comes out perfect. If you dine in, expect to be there for a little while. This place isn't fast, so I would recommend visiting when you have good company, or order to go and pick up. I have kids that are VERY picky, but they still love the satay chicken with steamed rice and french fries from the kids menu.

Authentic Thai food in La Plata. My friend and I got 3 meals, 2 Thai iced tea, and 3 drinks. They all came out nice and delicious. The server was very nice and polite. She got all of our orders correctly. The ambiance is also pretty chill and laid back, not narrow and loud as typical Asian restaurants. I'll definitely keep coming back.

Picture of the wrong order, Asparagus Stir Fry with Chicken

I have given this restaurant plenty of business for years. This recent time on 10/6/22, I ordered and paid for the Asparagus Stir Fry with Shrimp, crispy spring rolls and it automatically comes with rice. Once I get home, my order is incorrect and they gave me Asparagus Stir Fry with Chicken. Once I called and notified the restaurant, the employee who took my order was rude with an attitude as I asked for new spring rolls since my meal would be cold when I drove the 15 minutes back home. Initially she said they can give me new rice (of course because it's free) rather than the spring rolls I paid for. Then she proceeds to say she needs to confirm the order didn't contain chicken and not shrimp. Not customer service at all, considering this establishment made a mistake, cost me money and time driving back to their restaurant. Overall, the manager was more professional upon giving me my refund. Will not return here again. I have included pictures my of confirmation order where it clearly states my original order, and what I wrongly received.

We enjoy eating at Kaow Thai, we have limited options here in this area and it's nice to have a decent Thai option down here. The food and service have be consistently good. The atmosphere is casual, relaxed, and comfortable. They have a full bar with a good selection of spirits. Most Thai restaurants serve Drunken Noodles, but Kaow Thai also serves Drunken Rice. I am not sure if it is unique to this restaurant, but I haven't seen it anywhere else.

We both enjoyed the edamame appetizer topped with sea salt, and when our entrées arrived, we immediately noticed the generous portion sizes. He ordered the garlic chicken special, which was decent but unremarkable. I chose the pineapple fried rice with chicken and enjoyed it, though I would have liked more pineapple and slightly larger pieces of chicken rather than the thin slices served. Overall, the experience was fine but not memorable. We don't regret dining here, though if we skipped it on a future visit to town, we wouldn't feel like we missed out.

Nothing could be further from the truth as the place was packed. I came-and I was not the only one-seeking vegetarian options among a region not full of them. I wasn't wowed at them using generic grocery store bottled tea. The food, however, was better. A set of spring rolls came with fresh vegetables and a sweet and spicy dipping sauce. My tofu was savory, spicy, and very fried. Despite the crowds, service was reasonably good. On a nicer day, covered outdoor space would have been available to sit. The experience would rate a bit lower in an urban area in my mind. But given that any urban area is a long way from here, I was happy with what I found.

While waiting for my order, I noticed the staff (who seemed pretty young, not saying that negatively, just observationally) loudly talking about not getting tips. Loud enough for the whole place to hear. That was my first sign that the atmosphere might be off. When my order was ready, they didn't call out the item or confirm anything, they just said my name, tossed the tied-up bag on the counter, and walked away. I watched them call other orders properly with names and items, so the contrast stood out. Regardless of how good food may be, customer experience matters. I didn't ask for a manager because I've worked in management before, and I know staff behavior often reflects internal leadership and environment. Still, it's something worth noting: even for quick-service or takeout spots, courtesy and professionalism go a long way. This interaction felt dismissive and honestly off-putting. I'm not writing this to be harsh, just to be honest. This is why I prefer to tip in casHopefully it's something the team can improve on, because small interactions shape the whole experience.

That's how I spend many of my days off as a restaurant owner myself. My experience started off on the wrong foot when I was directed to a very small table for one. I politely explained several times that I typically order a substantial amount of food and would need more space. I was told the larger tables were reserved and that tables could be pushed together later if needed. As the meal progressed, a longtime friend of mine who works there came out to say hello. Shortly afterward, tables were combined, apologies were offered, and the experience improved significantly. What left me puzzled was that many of the larger "reserved" tables remained empty throughout my visit. By the time I left around 5:00 PM, they still had not been used. The food was mixed. I came specifically for the Khao Mun Gai, one of Thailand's most iconic dishes. Unfortunately, it was underwhelming. The chicken was average, the rice was decent, and the accompanying soup lacked depth and flavor. On the positive side, the Crackin' Belly was excellent--crispy, flavorful, and well executed. The Pad Thai Siam Shrimp was solid, and while the Tom Sab soup had good flavor, it was a bit too spicy for my preference. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The space is modern, clean, bright, and thoughtfully designed. Easily one of the nicer Thai restaurant interiors in Northern Virginia. One additional detail stood out. My friend joined me briefly for a toast. I ordered a double bourbon, and he ordered a shot. All three shots appeared on my bill, totaling $45. While not a major issue, it felt like a missed opportunity for hospitality given the circumstances. In the end, my bill was approximately $163 for a solo meal. My biggest takeaway wasn't the food--it was the inconsistency in hospitality. The experience improved dramatically after I was recognized, and every guest should feel welcomed and valued from the moment they walk through the door, regardless of appearance or assumptions about what they may spend. The restaurant has a talented kitchen, a beautiful dining room, and plenty of potential. With more consistent hospitality, this could easily become a destination Thai restaurant.
