I dread going through the process of getting quotes etc. knowing that the price and time would be an inconvenience to my busy work schedule. I drove my car in, hoping they'd give me a quick estimate at best and an appointment for (an estimate) another time at worst. Eric came straight out, looked over what needed to be done (I also asked for some scratches to be buffed out) and gave me an estimate of time and price. The guys took my trim off whilst I waited, then I left to return a couple of weeks later to have the license plate and trim reattached, as well as scratches buffed out. Some of the scratches were pretty bad, but the staff warned me not to expect them to be perfectly removed, which was what I'd already suspected. For the price, they did a great job. Often times, I expect to be denigrated in one way or another (it's just my experience in life) when I seek service for my car, renovations to my house, etc... however, the staff at Mike's Auto Body have always been respectful toward me. Mike gave me the confidence to go back this time, so I assume the professional and respectful behaviour comes from the top down. I truly won't go anywhere else. The price, though excellent, was secondary to the professionalism and respect the staff show me.

When I was rear ended by my wife's SUV, I figured I would support a local small business, rather than go to a Maaco. The relationship started out well. I met with the owner, Joe. He promised me that they would be able to get all of the work done within 4 days and that he was ordering the replacement parts in advance. Since my wife caused the damage, I was not using an insurance company. I explained all of this to Joe who said that was not an issue and even recommended I get a competitive quote to compare to his. Seeming to be trustworthy, I made the mistake of not obtaining a second quote and agreeing to have his shop perform the repairs. Four days go by and I call his shop to follow up on the work. No one ever picked up the phone or returned my calls. Joe also had an email listed on his website. No one ever replied to my email either. Since I live in Malden, but work during normal shop hours, I decide to stop by the business. Shockingly, my car is left parked on the street in the same condition it was when I dropped it off 5 business days prior. The "kid" working in the office (also covered in grease from working in the shop) seemed to be the only employee working at the time. This is 3 pm on a Wednesday. He explains that Joe is on vacation and that they are still waiting for "special order parts". I explained that I drive a 2010 Toyota Camry. How special can these parts be? Already extremely frustrated, I ask the worker to please move my car off of the street. He assures me that he will move it and basically "Yes's" me out the door. Before getting back into my wife's vehicle, I observe two more workers coming back from break. Either they had been sprayed by a skunk or they were taking advantage of the boss being out of town if you follow my drift. I immediately go back in and ask for my deposit back and the keys. This is where the story gets better.... They explain that only Joe, who is on vacation, can issue a refund. I say that is fine, I will take the vehicle and deal with the refund when he returns. All three of the workers begin an hour long scavenger hunt for my keys. I decide to leave the establishment and get my spare keys at home. I come back before the posted closing time of 5:30 pm and not a soul can be found. I get into my vehicle, on the public street, and immediately became overwhelmed by the smell of cigarettes. Whoever had move my car and lost the keys, thought it would be a good idea to smoke inside of my car. Since I do not smoke, I was beyond furious at this point. Another week goes by and Joe still will not return my phone calls or emails. I take another afternoon off at work to stop by his shop. I catch Joe in the street, directing traffic so his employees can maneuver their clients vehicles into street parking spaces for the night. Joe denies that any of his employees would ever smoke in a client's car. Meanwhile, Joe has a cigarette in his mouth! I demanded my deposit back, which he gave me. When I checked their website for a pricing list, I found nothing. It seemed like this auto shop wanted customers to call them so they could quote whatever price they pleased. When the tires were installed, I was charged $180 for two bad tires that were mounted but unbalanced. I felt like I was being taken advantage of.
