Carvana scratched my car on delivery and I was told to reach out to shop within network for repair. Next day I drive an hour for estimate. 5 days later after several calls estimate gets approved. Another hour drive and drop my vehicle off for repair. Next day I'm told vehicle is ready for pick up. Another hour drive and looks like I brought it to Maaco. This is a business that lives up to its name. I had some ice damage to my front driver's side door, and I found 1st Class on Yelp. We all know (and have probably experienced) the stereotypes around car repair shops being pretty shady, so imagine my surprise when I found a body shop that had nothing but 5 star reviews. The combination of glowing reviews and the shop being just a few blocks from my house was enough to get me to go in for an estimate. From the moment I waked in, the staff was very courteous and friendly, and after inspecting the damage, clearly explained everything they would need to do, why, and what it would cost. I ended up having to file an insurance claim because the cost would be well over my deductible, and when I came back in a week later with all of the paperwork, the service was just as prompt and friendly. While doing the work, they also found further damage to my fender and worked directly with my insurance company to take care of it without me having to do a thing. As far as the actual repairs, they replaced the outer shell of my front driver's side door, the front driver's side fender, and had to do a paint blend on the new door shell, the rear driver's side door, the panel that runs above the doors, the fender, and the bumper. The work was exceptional- the color matches perfectly, and it doesn't look like there was ever any work done at all. Separate from this, I also had them take care of a large dent above my gas tank from backing into a tree next to a narrow driveway (out of pocket). They brought in a guy that does "paintless" dent work for them, and not only can you not tell there was ever a dent there, but the work was done for less than I was quoted. It was especially impressive considering the bone line was severely dented as part of this, and it looks perfect again as you can see below (I didn't think to take a "before" picture) On top of the quality work, it was all done in less than a week, and they gave my car a dealership-quality detailing before turning it back over to me. I really can't say enough good things about 1st Class. Friendly, courteous, great communication, and work that speaks for itself. If I ever need body work done again, this is the only place I'll even consider going. read more

This is indeed as good as it gets! My Toyota 4 Runner broke down in Boston and after calling AAA for a tow they recommended 1st Class Auto Body. I was relieved to find out that the shop was based in my new neighborhood in East Boston. I was of course concerned dropping the car at an unknown repair shop but their 5 star yelp status gave me peace of mind. The 5 star status is well deserved. I had the car estimated by an adjustor on the side and Jim's estimate came out exactly the same, so I knew there was no funny business. My experience at 1st auto body was just as expected. They have great reviews for a reason! Courteous, Reasonable, and are not full of bull.... I have come to this shop a few times for separate reasons. The first time was to see if they could fix my window. Jim, took a peek and told me what the issue was. He quoted me for a new window motor, and after chatting for a bit, he suggested try an alternative solution. Turns out, he was able to fix the problem, for a fraction of what a new window motor would have cost (I paid 35 bucks). I really appreciated his commitment to help me out as a customer, and for doing it without taking advantage. My second time was due to a collision. Since my insurance provider has them listed as a preferred auto shop (now I know why!) I didn't have to think twice on choosing an auto body shop and immediately chose them to do my repairs based on my past experience. To top it off, I was extremely unhappy with my rear breaks because the shop that had replaced them before, did a horrible job and for the longest time since day one squeaked and did grinding noises. I asked Jim if there is a possibility that they could fix my breaks. He said, no problem! And again charged me a very reasonable price for the job which exceeded my expectations. When I came to get my car, it was nicely washed, looked gorgeous, and the process of it all was easy breezy. This is definitely a good place to bring your car. They are courteous, and have top of the line customer service, Jahaira (hope I spelled it right) is the sweetest receptionist, and Jim is very, informative,and honest person. After I got rear ended and had to have my car repaired, I was leery of going to a body shop, especially since I didn't know any in the area, but Yelp didn't steer me wrong. They are professional and courteous, their reception area is more like a comfortable office than a greasy front room to a garage, and they deal 100% with the insurance company -- even when additional damage was discovered and a second appraisal was needed. They were more than happy to explain what was going on whenever I asked, and never acted as if it were a nuisance for them, as some garages do. They also rent cars right there in case you need temporary transportation -- and if the insurance company is footing the bill, they'll work that out with them as well. These guys are great. We took it in to get our passenger side front window replaced. It was $161, cheaper than the expected $200, and not only did they change our window, they also cleaned up all the broken glass in the car and other junk lying around. Based on the Yelp reviews I decided to take my car to First Class. An appointment is needed but one mechanic took a look at my car and gave me an explanation but the next mechanic gave me a different quote and way over priced. And granted yes there were many problems but in the end the mechanic refused to work on my car. His logic was he fixed it all or nothing and refused to repair the parts I could afford. 1st class auto body was amazing. Someone backed into my car while it was parked and I was left with a damaged hood and front bumper. My insurer referred me to 1st class and set me up with an appointment the next day. At first, I was hesitant to head to east Boston. I work in Back Bay and didn't want to deal with the inconvenience of getting to and from work and the shop. However, 1st class offered to drop me off and pick me up at the T. Problem solved. I've had work done before. The last place I went had me standing around for awhile before they even acknowledged I was in their grimy office. Well, the second I walked into 1st class they offered me a water or soda, and asked me to sit down in their comfortable/clean waiting area. I barely sat down when I was warmly greeted by their service manager who came out to my car, reviewed the damage, and walked me through the repair process. This is my first car ever and I am clueless when it comes to anything related to my vehicle. I called 1st class based on the reviews here and everyone was right, they really are 1st class. I called in the day before and spoke to Jim about a giant screw in my front tire. Jim was very friendly and told me to stop by whenever and ask for him. The next day I went down and was impressed at how nice their customer service area was and how pleasantly I was greeted by jahaira who offered my a cup of coffee! Score! She asked me for my name and called Jim right away. Within minutes Jim and another tech had come out to greet me and have a look at my tire. They were completely sympathetic to this being my first time and broke everything down so it was easy to understand. yes, I am a girl. I ended up needing a new tire and the price quoted me for the tire and service was very reasonable ( I double checked after) and they even changed my oil : ) this will always be my go to place for anything and everything I would need for my car! The main reason that I used them is because the shop is right next door to the place that my car was towed to. I was extremely pleased by the work and the service. They worked with my insurance company (which was a nightmare... let me just say that I would NOT recommend Liberty Mutual for car insurance) and had my car ready quickly. These guys are absolutely fantastic and exceptionally accommodating. I went to them because of the great yelp reviews and I'm so glad I did. My car is smashed up and I expected the worst. Went to one shop, they told me it was a total loss. As I was leaving the shop, my check engine light went on so I took it to autozone for a reading. Armed with seven check engine codes, my insurance adjuster's report, and some serious pessimism, I walked into 1st Class. Jahaira at the front desk was friendly and attentive. Jim looked at the car and offered me options and GOOD NEWS-the car is fixable (as of right now). Jim and Jahaira worked to schedule the repairs while I'll be on vacation so I won't be carless trying to get to work. Very very appreciated!! Jim suggested one of my issues may just be a blown fuse. And after I left, I pulled into a parking lot nearby to take a look (no idea why I didn't just take it home...). Truth be told, I was doing fine but ended up dropping the new fuse in the engine screwing myself. I walked back into 1st Class and asked if they had a fuse I could buy. It was a scary experience when my car was hit by a road rage driver. My car accident was a miserable experience. My brand new Mazda 3 was victim to a hit and run in the middle of the night and then Mazda, the manufacturer, could not locate the parts needed for months. This was my first time needing a mechanic since moving to East Boston, I took a shot with first class based on other reviews. The reviews were all correct, first class auto body was truly amazing. My car was brand new and we were told by Mazda they did not have the necessary parts in stock that were needed to fix my car - they had no expected arrival date and simply told us we needed to wait. Neither Mazda nor the insurance company seemed interested in helping at all, the dealership that sold me the car told me to try to get the car totaled, rather than deal with fixing it. The damage was definitely extensive as my car was parked when hit directly in the rear driver side area, the door and bumper were crushed, the wheels were bent in and the collision caused my car to lift onto the sidewalk where the passenger side collided with a city parking sign. First class was proactive and helpful they said all along they were confident they could fix the car, it was just a matter of locating all of the necessary parts. They communicated with me almost weekly and were very active in trying to locate the parts from Mazda - they called Mazda themselves repeatedly asking for the parts. Jim was always honest and upfront with me, my car was in their shop for almost three months waiting for parts and he continued to provide status updates and showed honest effort and intentions in getting my car fixed asap. When the parts finally came in Jim indicated to me that my car would be priority number one and he would work to get it ready to go as quickly as possible. As we neared completion Jim again communicated with me almost daily as he wanted to make sure the car was perfect when ready. I Could not believe how the car looked when I finally picked it up. My wife and I both noted that it looked exactly as it did the first day we got it, maybe even shinier. The car was spotless inside and out and drove perfectly. First Class Auto Body would be (and has been) the first place I'd recommend to anyone who needed any work done on their car. I needed my brake pads and rotors replaced- the first place I went to (a small place in Southie), the guy took one quick look at the tires and told me that's what I needed to do, and that it would cost about $750. I had no idea what the price range should be for that kind of job, and he told me that anyone who quoted me under that would be using low quality parts. I called First Class Auto Body to see if I could get a lower quote, and spoke to the manager, Jim. Jim was professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and explained the whole process to me, also mentioning that while replacing the brake pads and rotors might be one thing that needed to be fixed, there was no way to know for sure without taking a closer look at the car in the shop. He also quoted me almost HALF of what the first guy quoted me, and said that he used the same, top of the line equipment the first guy said he'd use. I brought my car in that day, and was able to pick it up the following morning. The office is clean, and both the mechanic I spoke with and the receptionist/office manager, Jahaira, were helpful and professional. They also cleaned the inside and outside of my car at no charge.
