After calling her multiple times to follow up, she ultimately never called me back to follow up. I ended up buying a headpiece from a different company about a week before the wedding. And the prices are absolutely fair! I initially worked with Angela, who was friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic from the get go. I loved so many of the dresses that it was hard to decide which one to purchase. She was flexible in allowing me to come back in for a second appointment to try on my favorites once more before choosing THE ONE. The showroom is small so you will be the only client there, which makes the experience relaxed and personal. At no point did I feel pressured to buy. After making the final decision, Angela was professional in helping me understand the contract and taking my measurements. My emails were always answered quickly and all communication was easy and pleasant. Shockingly, the dress was finished a week earlier than expected and took only 4 months total! I picked it up today and it is just the most beautiful piece of work. Whitney was very helpful and attentive in completing the sale. My daughter tried on one of her gowns and was brought to tears. She turned to me and said, "mom, this is it". She looked stunning. The dress was a combination of color, layers and flair. This is not a "mill" where you pick something from a rack, overpay and order your size. I tried on gowns that I had seen online, as well as separates. When I tried on the Senara gown, everything changed. She was the one! (Note: I made 2 additional trips back to Carol Hannah to finalize my choice before officially saying yes to the dress; thank you Nhi for being so patient and supportive!!) What is extra special about buying your gown from Carol Hannah is the custom fit alterations: your gown is literally MADE FOR YOU. After taking my measurements, each fitting I attended was to further tailor the fit and the components of the dress. For example, I wanted to take the back down a little, wanted the "petal" part of the bust to lay a certain way, and wanted part of the draping altered a bit -- all were easily discussed and accommodated! She charged me $10 for the dress alteration, and though I opted for the easiest option, the way she altered the dress made it look like it came right off the rack just for my body. My partner brought his jeans to alter an inch off and it cost him $15. The tailor studio is very stuffy and cluttered, but it honestly adds to the charm of Chinatown. Be prepared for the heat in the summer as there's no AC. Also, I spoke in Mandarin and Cantonese, so just be patient with Mrs Lai if you're not Chinese-speaking because I noticed many reviews scoffing at the service and they used English. For the price, I'd gladly fly back to NYC with the clothes I need altered just to visit Mrs Lai's studio. I doubt I'd find anyone of this quality and convenience in LA.

When I returned to review everything, the owner denied ever agreeing to unline the bodice and made me feel like I had imagined the conversation. It was incredibly frustrating and honestly upsetting. Only after I pointed out that it was written in THEIR OWN NOTES did they reluctantly agree to include it. Trying to adjust the scope to reduce costs turned into an even worse experience. When I called to REMOVE the crinoline from the skirt and asked for an updated price breakdown, I was met with SHOCKING hostility. The assistant raised her voice, spoke to me in an extremely disrespectful way, and told me to come pick up my dress if I was "trying to negotiate," which I was NOT. I was simply trying to make the alterations more affordable. She refused to provide an ITEMIZED breakdown and instead doubled down on being aggressive and dismissive. She also told me that if I removed the skirt alteration, the bodice alone would cost TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS and that she would NOT adjust pricing to reflect the reduced work. When I went to pick up my dress, the same assistant avoided eye contact and denied the entire interaction. A coworker who overheard the phone call came with me and confirmed EXACTLY how I was spoken to. Even then, there was NO apology, NO accountability, and NO attempt to make things right. The lack of professionalism, transparency, and basic respect is honestly SHOCKING, especially for a business working with brides during such an important time. At every turn, this has felt like a corporate-first company rather than a customer-first company. I overnighted a couple of dresses (found them last minute and fell instantly in love) and paid a stout $80 shipping fee. They came THREE DAYS LATER!! And the event had passed. I reached out about it, and the response was "Well, overnight shipping takes three business days." Make it make sense. I've never had that experience anywhere else...and I've done my share of overnight shipping. They defended themselves and not once ever asked how they could make it right. I expected a different vibe from a store that caters to women wanting to feel beautiful during a very short season of life. Bummer vibe. Go anywhere else.

I met her at her immaculate studio in Fort Green and fell in love with her immediately. She was super sweet, very supportive, but most importantly, very very calm. It was my first time being a bridesmaid in a VERY important wedding (I'm talking million dollar Great Gatsby type wedding, 1,000 guests being held at a private museum in California). I was going to be surrounded by a bunch of people from high school that I hadn't seen in ages, so in a way it was like the high school reunion I never wanted. It was important that I made a good impression. But, not surprisingly, the bridesmaids dress was hideous and fit me awkwardly. I looked like a seal dressed in a pear costume. I needed this fixed, pronto. The problem was I had to alter the dress without it looking like it had been altered. The bride(zilla) had specifically said that she didn't want anyone to change or alter the dress. When I told Sandra this, she was very understanding and dealt with my neurosis very well. What I liked her her also, was that she was very confident. She told me exactly what needed to be done to make the dress fit my body type and complement my curves and height. She assured me she would be stealthy about the alterations and clean everything up seamlessly so no one would ever know I had changed it. Less than two weeks later I went to go pick up the dress. I slipped the dress on almost in slow motion because I was apprehensive about how the dress would look. The wedding was a week away, so if it didnt work out, I wouldnt have much time to fix it. But ALAS, the dress FIT LIKE A GLOVE and I stood there staring at myself in the mirror, amazed that it was the same dress! I couldn't believe it! Somehow she made it so the dress actually looked flattering! I kept asking her over and over how she did it, and she said she changed the waist line, took in some of the weird puffiness out on the sides etc etc. I was totally flabbergasted and so, so grateful. Now I could go to this wedding confident, not having to feel self conscious in a dress that made me look ridiculous. I just came back from the wedding this weekend. It was a beautiful but ridiculous affair (people spraying 200$ bottles of champaign all over the dance floor, fighter jets flying over the ceremony, opera singers, lots of taxidermy). As I hoped, no one expected a thing. I even got compliments on how cute the dress looked on me, which we all know is rare for a bridesmaid dress. So, point is, go to Sandra with you most delicate, prized wedding designs and dresses. This girl is professional and patient. I loved working with her. If I ever decide to get married, I'm going back to her.
