My friend and I wanted to add something fun and exciting to our workout routine and after hearing great reviews from another friend who has been taking pole dancing lessons with Ly we decided to try it as well. Although I was a little nervous at first not knowing what I got myself into, Ly was really patient and encouraging and I soon felt at ease. In the introductory class we did quite a few things! We spent a good amount of time stretching and learned some of the basics as well as some other fun moves. I really appreciated all the personal attention we got - Ly would closely watch us to make sure we had the right form and would make us repeat the move until we got it down. Her prices are very reasonable considering all the personal attention and feedback you get from the private class. Ly was great and really funny too. I had been in Ly's in 2015 summer for a month. You can get free class if you leave yelp review so a lot of review at that time might come from that. Not sure if that has been changed. I'm totally a beginner at that time so I'm not strong enough. Students attend the same class can vary a lot in the strength level. I'm not feeling encouraged enough to keep going. I have sweaty hands and I need to use dryhands or so but once she yelled at me for using dryhands which makes me very uncomfortable. I had taken pole dance classes few times in Sacramento. So, when I moved to Bay Area I was looking for something near by. When I found Ly's studio I was a bit concerned about it since the studio is at home, but decided to give it a try. And I should say I was not disappointed at all. The class was awesome. I am very happy with my first class with Ly. I had taken an intro class previously but took the intro class with her again. There were only three girls in my class and while there were 3 poles, one was a spinning pole so we had to rotate out every now and then. Even with this though I felt like I did so much more in this 1.5 hour class than I did win my other class. The class also still felt very personal. While the room is small, this contributes to the personal feel. Ly can easily come over to you and work with two women at the same time because we are all close enough. At the other professional pole studio I went to, the studio was huge which was great, but there wasn't the same one on one interaction because it would have not been practical for the teacher to run around to everyone! What I love the most is that because Ly is able to work so closely, she can pick out where someone is weak and where someone is stronger. For the lady who was a bit more timid about her first time on the pole, Ly offered encouragement and pushed her to do more (important for any sport) but she didn't push further than the lady's comfort level. For me, I have always been very flexible and have a bit more core strength from the gym so Ly took advantage and showed me how to do some more advanced moves. Creating this custom feel is probably what I loved the most about working with Ly. I am signed up for another four classes and am looking forward to seeing where I get! read more

I decided to take this class to try something new and to work out my upper body. It was difficult at the beginning because I had trouble climbing. Fear almost made me quit, but I kept going to class. As I kept going, I started gaining confidence and feeling more comfortable with the pole routines and tricks. I recommend this class because Ly provides flexible scheduling, make-up sessions, affordable prices, and she shows she cares about you learning to pole dance. Ly is awesome instructor. Since I am a complainer, Ly is patient and pushes me to get through the workout. I get to workout with different people and they are all very friendly and supportive. We motivate each other to master the routine and tricks. My upper body is starting to get stronger and my arms look more leaner and toned. read more

As a fitness professional, I cannot recommend this studio in good consciousness. They do not offer corrections for bad form and encourage bad form. I personally saw Ly put students in risky and uncomfortable situations. I wholeheartedly am concerned for someone who doesn't have experience in fitness to come to this studio. (I have a personal training cert, yoga teacher cert, currently in school for ergonomics, plus years of experience in the fitness industry.) I started with an intro/beginner 1 class. The first class I took was with Jennifer, who was great, I wish she kept teaching it. The next week was with Ly which don't waste your time taking a class with her. For the next 4 weeks, we did the same thing, sometimes even less than the next week. It got to the point of getting extremely boring, I could even probably recite word for word how the class is taught. I didn't feel like I was learning anything because Ly only focused on the students that were there for a first time, probably to draw them in. Again, every week I was learning less and even backtracking because of the new students. The classes were often overbooked as well. I could probably taught the class myself since I was so comfortable with what was being taught. Since I was getting so bored, I decided to try the beginner 1/beginner 2 class instead. Whoa, I regret ever taking a class with Ly, because she is beyond rude. In class she embarrassed me in front of the whole class for not knowing a skill that she never taught. She tried to put the blame on me for not knowing certain skills but you can't expect a student to know something the teacher never taught. Every time I asked a question about a move, she'd treat me like I'm dumb, so I had to just ask a different student in the class. The better option would be to just teach the student the skill instead of belittle them, or even better yet, teach all the skills needed for a beginner 1/beginner 2 class in beginner 1. Ly is just a terrible teacher to say the least. Everyone who wants to try the class once for the gimmick, its fine. For people who actually want to improve their skills beyond the first class, find somewhere else. read more

This class was amazing! I moved in ways I though I could not move. It is also a great work out. She would not let me give up, and we would not stop until I got the moves right. I took an intro class and fell in love with pole dancing. I continued to take 4 private sessions with Ly and now I'm on to the regular group class once a week. The class size is small and fun. Also, Ly provides flexible schedules and make up sessions if you miss a class. Pole dancing is challenging physically and mentally, which is helping me become stronger and build self-confidence. I don't have any background in dancing nor am I flexible. Some of the moves on the pole are scary for me but Ly is very patient and understanding. There are times when I say I cannot do it but Ly dosen't give up on me. She says you can do it and helps me finish the move. When it's done I feel accomplished and the next time it gives me the confidence that I can do it. If you are too bored to hit the gym and work out alone this is a great place to start too. It builds total body strength and flexibility. Ly is dedicated to work with you to get you to your goal. I love it so much that I now have a pole in my house :-) I'm going to be pole dancing for a very long time! read more

I have been thinking of going poIe dancing for a long time but was not able to find an instructor. Then I decided to do a little bit more research around the San Jose area and ran into Ly's website. It was my first time so I took two friends with me and I can tell you we had a blast. Ly is an amazing instructor. She is definitely very patient and very motivating. She encouraged me to try again and again when I was about to give up. This is my first time pole dancing and she makes me feel like i want to continue going and doing things that I love. Ly studio is the most welcoming and supportive environment. If you are cautious to start because you don't have upper body, don't worry. The classes are enjoyable for any level of fitness. Each achievement is celebrated no matter the size. Ly is a wonderful teacher because she really believes you can accomplish the moves. I struggled with a lot of lifts because I have no upper body to pull myself up. When I lacked the confidence, Ly provided the push I needed to reach my goals. I have taken Ly's class twice and it's a blast. One of the benefits about taking her class is that I am usually the only one in the class and get all of her attention (of course it also means she really pushes me). For a pole class, $25 for one-on-one is a no brainer deal. Ly is very technique-oriented. She breaks down every single detail of the moves and makes the twirls easy to pick up. Hoping to get back into dancing and make some new friends in a new area I decided to try this place based on the good reviews. When I drove up to the studio I had a hard time finding it (due to lack of any signage on the store front), and no answer when I tried calling the studio. Upon walking into the studio (exactly at the start time of my class), she was not finished up with the previous class. I waited 15 minutes while the class before me finished up with "freestyling" to the music. Thinking it would be a good time to meet some local people so I started to talk to others who were going to attend class with me. I was "shhh'ed" twice by the instructor, and told to sit quietly (which I would have been ok with if she was actually instructing but it was a freestyle dance.) Also during the class she told me to squeeze my knee more (which I couldn't do due to lack of strength/flexibility) and she forced it herself which was accompanied by pain and an audible "pop." I will go elsewhere, not fun, not respectful of people's time, not welcoming atmosphere. read more

Today I had my first Pole fitness class with Ly :) It was super fun and alot of one on one interaction.Tons of parking available around the area as well. Today I learned a ton of new things, I learned the fireman spin and the falling angel (which I almost got) I also learned a reverse spin, the 180 twirl and even climbed the pole, my favorite thing i learned was to be inverted on the pole! I plan on joining her 8 classes program soon b/c I am truly inspired to continue my adventures with pole fitness. I highly recommend Ly too she explains transitions and hand/ feet placement very well. I definitively will be back. read more

Ly is awesome! I went today to my first pole dancing class! She made me feel so comfortable and showed me how to do everything! She had so much patience even though I literally didn't know how to do anything before I got there. She worked with me and taught me so much and helped me until I got it right! I have been taking Ly's classes here for a month. I can honestly say I LOVE this place. Everyone is so friendly( students and staff) it's kinda like I never want to leave . I was taking 3 classes a week until I started school now I'm sad whenever I don't have time to go I learned so much in the past month. Like literally Ly will have you doing stuff on the pole your first class . My first class I learned to climb and do 3 pole positions. This place is GREAT. If you can't do it she will help you one on one until you can and if your struggling one of the students who gets it will help you if she is busy helping someone else. The classes are an hour and 30 mins. But time fly's when you're having fun. After class everyone stays and talks because no one ever really wants to leave ! This place is GREAT!!! I just had my first class with Ly yesterday and I'm thoroughly pleased. I knew learning pole dancing wouldn't be easy, but she was right there with me the whole time. Motivating me when I said I couldn't, and showing me over and over and making it work! I didn't think id learn 3 spins and a pole sit on my first day but I did! And now I have to practice all these things before I go back next week :) Ly also made sure I was using the correct form and could pin point exactly what I was doing wrong to fix the move. I will certainly be going back and hopefully taking my friends with me! Had my introductory lesson today! There were 3 students today, and we got a lot of personal attention from Ly and her helper Anna. As the other reviewers said, they really push you hard! I had a lot of fun though, and learnt lots of stuff (walking, 360 turn, pirouette, fireman, and reverse spin. OH and climbing the pole and sitting). I have tried out Sedusa before, but I felt like it was not individualized. The class was too big and we did not learn too many things in one class. I tried out Ly's and the class is 1:2 so she is able to focus on helping us correct our form and perfect our moves. I was surprised that she taught us so many moves in so little time! She pushes you to your limit and makes you try new things every class. Her prices are also very affordable and she also offers a stretching class for those who want to get their splits! Pole dancing is a great option for fitness and I think everyone would enjoy it. I'm the most awkward person ever and if I can do it, you can too haha :) She is also in the midst of trying to move to a bigger studio as well so that should be great! read more

I had my introductory class today and it was awesome!! I was super nervous and even almost canceled- I was sure I wouldn't be able to do anything. But Ly is a great teacher and made it so easy!! My body is not "pole ready" by any means in my mind but I was surprised and amazed to find that I could do all of the spins and tricks!! She started with a great warm up too which is always nice since I don't usually take the time to stretch before a workout session- I always hope it's included, and it was! Before I knew it the 90 minutes had flown by and I was red all over, bruised, and out of breath, but it felt great! I thought only 10 minutes had gone by Haha Definitely check her out! She's awesome! I started taking pole class with Ly for more than half a year now. I've been taking classes once a week. Before starting with Ly, I have no experience with pole dancing, but have been a group fitness enthusiastic for years. I've taken a variety of classes for cardio and strength, such as BodyPump, TRX, Zumba, cardio hip pop, etc etc. I like to try out different classes and stick with the type of classes and instructors that help me grow the most and enjoy the activities. When I started taking Ly's class, it gave me a new perspective of things I need to improve. For example, I have never really emphasize improving flexibility, and my body has been pretty stiff all my life. I never really cared much about it because I felt that cardio and strength training are more important. But through the pole moves and the stretching and warm ups I did with Ly, I realized that even someone as inflexible as me can make improvement, and it actually helps my well-being, if done right. I also really enjoy the strength training aspect of the class. Even though I've taken classes like BodyPump in the past, the pole class adds on another level of challenging and fun. I've been doing more strength training on the pole because it makes me stronger, and also able to do better when I get stronger. With all this being said, I don't think the pole classes are too difficult as long as you're interested and willing to try. Everyone in the class has different strengths - some are stronger, some are more flexible, some just learn the tricks faster. Ly has been able to give helpful instructions and also make the students feel safe even when they're challenging themselves to more difficult moves. If you have ever thought about giving pole classes a try, I highly recommend Ly's class. And, I'm actually looking forward to seeing some gender diversity in the classroom :) Would love to see a male student in my class some time :) read more

My friend and I tried pole dancing for the first time, and it was fun! Ly is really patient and very encouraging. For an introductory lesson, I feel like I learned a lot. We did pivots and half-pirouettes and even full turns (and more). She pays attention to good form and points out how you can improve. It is also a comfortable environment. Ly has small classes, so she gives you her full attention the whole time. She is also cheerful throughout the class, which is very encouraging especially when the workout gets tough. It was my first class today and I'm so happy that my trainer is Ly, because the first experience is very important!!! The class was amazing!!! I didn't know what to expect at all, I thought that Ly will teach me couple things for the first class and that's it but we had a lot of things to do!!!! We did a really good stretching at the beginning so i didn't feel any sore during the class. She was very attentive to all my movements so I could remember everything and do everything correct! By the end of the class I already could do few elements in complex like a real dance!!!! And that is amazing!!!! It was very comfortable in studio, good music, enough space for me, we laughed and I didn't feel shy to be sexy:) I definitely recommend Ly as a trainer and planning to continue take classes!!!! I typically hate working out and have never willing joined a gym. I took Ly's introduction class with a friend thinking that It would be a one-time thing. Instead, I left Ly's class feeling sore but also very impressed! I've been taking Ly's class for three months now, since that first intro class. Her class has even motivated me to enroll in other group workout classes outside of pole (pilates, strength training, barre etc) with the ultimately goal of building up strength needed to be better at pole. Ly makes me feel so comfortable during our classes and gives me the encouragement I need to continue on. She is open to offering alternative tricks/spins if you're not yet at a higher level, but she does challenges you to challenge yourself first. In addition, Ly is extremely personable. She has A LOT of students but still finds time to text us individually - occasionally reminding us about class or she has even texted me to check in about my wrist, which was hurting for a while (an injury not caused by pole class). Like the other reviews mentioned, class does take place at Ly's home in her living room. There are two poles for about 4 people each class. Personally, I think this is ideal. I enjoy the small class sizes - it is much easier for me to learn this way and get more tips from Ly one-on-one. Also, sharing the pole with another students gives you time to shake it off and take a few breathe-ers in between tricks/spins - which you WILL need! Lastly, the students are all very welcoming regardless of which level they are at. The overall vibe is very friendly! All in all, this is an awesome class! I have been going to Ly's for 6 months now, and I have learned a lot of new and exciting skills going to her studio. I have a background of trying all forms of exercise but could never stick to anything for long because I get bored of doing the same thing over and over. WOW!!!! This class kicked my butt, loved it. I just finished my first class. At first I did not think it was going to be much of a workout, boy was I wrong. Ly did such a great job in making me feel comfortable. By the end of class I was breaking a sweat and having a blast. I had such a great time learning from Ly and she makes you feel very comfortable. It is very easy to get along with her and have casual conversations about yourself, music preferences, and about her as well. I have an Xpole of my own but I knew I needed to take classes to improve, ovcourse. I stumbled upon Ly's pole studio and im really glad i did. Such a warm and welcoming class! Iv only been in this class for a few weeks and already learned so much, not only related to pole but also stretching and warm up techniques that I use everyday!! So worth it! I feel great.
