The main one is pretty big, may for like 20 people. I dig the art, pictures, and record albums. Parking - I took an evening class so I didn't have any issues. Street parking right in front. Customer Service - Marquee (Marky) was the instructor. Great guy! He was patient, fun, and creative. TL;DR OVERALL 5 Stars. Gotta love a good dance studio. By the way, parking is abysmal (paid street parking and crowded at that) but I can't exactly criticize a dance studio for that. I've been attending classes on a regular basis since March/April, and it's been a TOTAL blast! The location is great, the instructors are extremely talented, and the classes are very welcoming to all skill levels. So, not only are the classes perfect for improving your dance skills, but it's also a great social outlet for meeting new friends! I started taking one class a week, and now I regularly take 3-4 classes! The majority of the classes are offered in the evening, which is perfect for folks that are working or in school. Overall, I've learned a bunch of new styles of dance, and I'm improving my fitness. Classes always end with smiles and high-fives, which is pretty cool. The Get Down is always the best part of my day! Before taking classes here, my usual routine was working all day, vegging out watching TV all night, and occasionally sprinkling in some guilt-ridden circuit training whenever I felt like I was being too lazy. My life has completely changed, thanks to The Get Down. I'm attending dance classes at least three nights per week, sometimes more. I slip in some Waacking drills while getting ready for work in the morning. I find myself Popping while I'm waiting in line at the coffee shop. I try really hard to pull myself out of bed an extra thirty minutes early on Fridays, so I can leave work to get to Top Rockin' on time. What makes this place so special? It's a cool space and well-maintained, but what truly sets this dance studio apart from others is the people. The owners make everyone feel welcome. One of my favorite spots in Jtown! This dance studio teaches everything from salsa, to hip hop, to martial arts. The classes are super interactive and the owners are incredibly friendly. My husband and I attend salsa on Thursday nights and bachata classes occasionally. It's amazing because I'm not the best of dancers, although I enjoy the act of dancing. Learning new styles through the studio is such a liberating experience. On Thursdays for instance, our instructor Alyssa and her "sexy assistant" JayR are very patient and kind. They don't demean anyone for not being able to do moves, and we all have fun while doing it. The owners are a married couple, Brian and Jeanette, and they're both fun and phenomenal dancers who are also incredible instructors. My husband likes Brian's style of teaching through non-verbal cues and repetition of moves as a group. This dance studio is review for most well trained dancers but has more advanced classes late at night; and is perfect for those really trying to learn something they've always wanted to know. The facilities are clean, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the ambiance of the whole studio in and of itself is such a dope space to relax and get loose with some dance moves. Never been to this studio before, actually never been to this neighborhood before but after taking a Saturday class I'm pretty sure I'll be going back to this place. Cute studio, only one space for dancing but it's roomy and bright. Enough mirrors so you can see yourself completely, great sound space, and lots of fresh air. I've taken Amber's class before so I knew what I was going to get: an awesome time with choreography that will make you sweat hard. Brian did an exceptional job with both my daughter and son in law for their first dance and for her father daughter dance. Both dances had our wedding guests full attention! Two completely different dance styles and music. ( He even worked with the first dance song being changed in the middle of the classes). Guests talked about the dances throughout the reception! My wife and I owe all of our sweet moves to Brian and Jeannette from The Get Down. We hired them last spring to help us come up with a surprise dance for our wedding. I like dancing but I am not a natural dancer (by far), but Brian and Jeannette made always made me feel comfortable and motivated while we worked on the routine they came up for us. Every class was super fun and we looked forward to each lesson. We also stayed for a salsa class one afternoon and learned some additional moves we've been able to use on nights out. We only had three lessons at The Get Down because we booked late for some choreography for our first dance at our wedding, but those brief lessons were more than enough to impress us! Jeannette and her husband (? Can't remember his name, I feel terrible!) were skilled and lovely teachers. We learned some basic steps, and they were able to choreograph a quick one-minute routine for us. I was so impressed with their ability to work on short notice, not to mention their professionalism, flexibility, and the way they helped us feel at ease right away in our lessons. Of course on the day-of, we only got through half the routine because I was so nervous about tripping on my dress I messed up! lol But regardless, The Get Down is a wonderful place to learn to dance! read more

My wife and I recently took a few classes at The Get Down Dance Studio on Thursdays from Brian and Jeannette. We're totally foreign to Salsa and we had a very welcoming introduction to the steps and rhythm etc. We loved the way they broke down everything in simple steps and kept adding on only when we were ready. Brian even made it a point to stop and review with me when I didn't quite get the step down yet. By the end of the session we were mixing up combinations our family friends will be surprised to see. The location is in the heart of SJ Japan Town and the studio is super clean and wonderfully presented. My wife and I are also looking forward to trying out the other eclectic dance styles that they offer as well such as house, waacking, funk styles, and sport martial arts training.
