I cannot believe people are rating CDC this low. My daughters (2) always love going to their classes. The front desk always helps students or parents in need and allows them to call their parents to even if they don't know their parents phone number. And for new students, they always get a chance at the front and back. The student generally watches others to familiarize themselves with the new choreography and then can go in the front line. And after class when a child doesn't see their parent the teacher will walk tha child out unless they are old enough to go by themselves. Amazing experience here, competition was fun and everyone welcomed my daughter who was new. She made a lot of friends on her first year of competition. I would def recommend this company read more

We had a terrible experience here. Today it was our first time trial for the combo class. My daughter needed a bit more help to settle in but teacher has not been engaging and helping at all after my multiple times of requests. She left alone my daughter at the corner with no attention. I then went to front desk asking if someone else perhaps can assist. The front desk basically told me they understand my frustration but there is nothing they can do or assist. I literally just wasted $30 for the trial with my kid just standing there alone with no attention from any staff. This place has gone downhill and it's complete waste of money. Please avoid all new parents!!!! read more

I've had a chance to see a 5 year old taking 2-3 classes a week here for the past few months, and it's been a very nice experience (for her). For me, I wish they had more comfortable chairs to sit on while the kids are dancing, and I wish the wifi was better. FYI this entire shopping center (Princeton Plaza Mall) has really bad cell service. The teachers here seem really nice, and they take COVID seriously by requiring masks. They also make sure the kids are well hydrated and supervised. The best thing so far was the production of The Lion King that was done. The kids spent weeks preparing, there were costumes, and it was really like a real production. Everyone had a great time and the kids were so proud of themselves. If you want your kid to have fun and maybe be on a path to being a serious dancer, I think this is a great place. They do have limited capacity and fill up, so you need to book early online. read more

Many class options, pricing is equal to other studios. The staff is very friendly and wants your dancer to do well and the other dancers are also very friendly! It is a great environment! Highly recommend this studio. My daughter does tap and did ballet here and loves it. read more

My daughter is 4 years old. She went to the studio for one month. Today I was several minutes late for her pickup. I saw my daughter was outside of the studio. She was crying with two adults who was trying to help her. The teacher let all the kids out without seeing their parents even though she's only 4 years old! The teacher even didn't know that my daughter couldn't find her parents!Luckily she met the people who helped her and didn't go to the busy parking lot. The studio shouldn't let this happen today and should never let this happen again. read more

We have been looking around for a dance studio that offers lyrical and contemporary styles for our daughter and came across Capitol. It has been 3 years since my daughter has taken lyrical and jazz class so we needed to find a studio where technique was really focused on. Her class is now taken through zoom because of Covid restrictions (though they are now offering courtyard classes as well). We have been very pleased with the high quality instruction, attention to technique and ability for teachers to give corrections even through zoom. She is enjoying her classes and improving her technique! The classes are fun and they often learn a small choreographed dance at the end of the class. I highly recommend this studio! read more

When most people think of dance studios, they think of girls dancing jazz and ballet. The thing I love about this studio is their selection of boys classes. My son loves street dancing, and has had the opportunity to learn styles such as breaking, pop & lock and some krumping. The owners are very receptive and will listen to suggestions for boys classes or dance styles the boys would like to see. The show at the end of the year which displays all of the children's hard work in each of the classes is top notch professional and entertaining. The show experience is so wonderful, that the boys look forward to it all year. If I could rate Capitol Dance Company 10 stars, I would, but yelp only allows 5. We have been extremely pleased with our experiences at Capitol Dance Company! I have two daughters who have taken classes at the studio. Between the two of them, I think they've tried every style of dance and have settled on their favorites. Capitol Dance offers classes throughout the week and on Saturday's as well. A couple of years ago both of my girls wanted "more" so they auditioned for the competition team, which was a great experience for them. They learned about fine tuning their dance techniques and working as a team. I know this sounds silly, but since I did not grow up dancing, I was trying to prepare myself for some potential dance drama that I had seen on TV! THANK GOODNESS, Capitol Dance Company does not tolerate any pushy/undermining/gossipy behavior, and they make it clear from the beginning that everyone works together for the common good of the dancers and studio. At the competitions I also liked how the CDC costumes and dance routines were tasteful and appropriate, especially for our young dancers. That was not always the case for other studios I saw represented at the competitions. Their annual studio performances are TOP NOTCH! Capitol Dance Company works hard to create a cohesive show, not just random dances that are sometimes typical of the mainstream recital. Tickets are sold to the public, so I would encourage you to come see a show (in June) to see what I mean! They traditionally put on two shows: one matinee for the younger dancers and another that features the older dancers in the evening, although there is some overlap. Capitol Dance Company has been bringing PROFESSIONAL dancers from all over the country to teach weekend seminars to their dancers each semester. They call it their "Master Class" series. It's so cool for dancers to hear about the professionals' experiences working on music videos, national shows, etc. What a fantastic opportunity, and it is open to everyone who wants to learn from the pros! If it sounds like Capitol Dance might be a place you want to check out, they offer trial classes so you can experience it first-hand before you make a decision. Adults and children, both male and female, are students at the studio. I don't think you'll be disappointed! My daughter has been attending Capitol Dance Company for over three years now. I have been very happy with their instruction, professionalism, and atmosphere. The staff and parents are very friendly and welcoming. I'm especially pleased with the multiple ways to pay tuition, their website, and their multiple modes of communication. I always feel well-connected and informed about performances and expectations. I also really appreciate the time and effort instructors put into the progress reports given to parents. My daughter has made friends, and loves the instructors. If I had to come up with a con the only one I could find is that the dance studio rooms are somewhat small and can get crowded. read more

Capitol Dance has been in and out of our lives for the past several years. My first impression of the studio was that they are caring, supportive and always encouraging. When my daughters started at their studio, my only exposure was my best friends daughters recitals. I immediately noticed a huge difference in the costume choices. Without really realizing until after our first performance, I noticed that the costumes were so tasteful, appropriate and not at all objectifying the girls. What a difference! My girls love their teachers too! We're by no means super involved with dance, it's just a hobby for my girls, but their staff takes the time to acknowledge and make my family feel always included. My daughter is 11 years old and dances at Capitol Dance Company. She is also on the competition team. She had danced at another studio for a few years and the atmosphere at the other studio was too competitive and the attitude of some of the families was too filled with drama for our families liking. We took a break from dance and when my daughter's favorite teacher from her old studio moved to Capitol we tried it out. What a difference! The atmosphere is so different! This is a family business and you can feel how everyone really likes each other. My daughter has always felt supported and never felt as if she ruined a competition for her team as she was made to feel at her old studio. She went in loving dance and now loves it even more! My youngest daughter has now decided she wants to dance too. Give Capitol a try! It's awesome! read more

My daughter has been dancing with Capitol Dance Company since she was 3 years old. She started with Mommy and Me and now competes on their competition team. This is a wonderful, family run company with so much to offer. Teaching all levels of dance, Capitol Dance will definitely have something to offer your dancer. The dance schedule never ceases to amaze me. So many forms of dance offered, and so many levels per age division. The dance teachers are extremely professional. It was important to me that I found a studio where the teachers stand as excellent role models...and they do! Another huge plus, they really know how to unify their dancers, and they also know how to show as much attention to non-team dancers as those who try out for the teams. I attended this fine establishment for around a year and a half. Throughout that time, I was never informed of the different foot positions while learning ballet. While chaîné turning around the room, the other girls in my class would slip and slide around the room, often crashing into walls. During the class itself, I never learned anything, how to do fouetté turns or how to balance properly across the room. We also spent the majority of class at the barre and had to spend the last twenty seconds trying to do grand jetés or other various turns about the room. It was very poorly put together. read more

My kids have been dancing at Capitol Dance Company for three years. I danced here while was a kid too. The studio is amazing. The teachers are caring and extremely knowledgeable. Both of my kids are autistic and the teachers have worked with me and them to make them comfortable and have a great experience. The summer show every year is phenomenal. The staff and teachers make everyone feel like family. We drive from Morgan Hill to dance here, even though there are closer studios, because this studio is the best. read more

My family started taking classes at Capitol Dance Company when my daughter was 2. We have remained with CDC because of the wonderful teachers, nurturing environment and the variety of classes and styles available, even musical theater and classes dedicated to boys and adults. We started with one Mommy and Me class eight years ago, and now my daughters compete on their competition team. This family-run studio really cares about each student and features opportunities for the recreational and serious dancers alike. As another reviewer mentioned, my girls have developed amazing friendships with their dance family. My daughter attended Capitol Dance for about 2 years. We were very pleased with her instructors. My daughter enjoyed coming to dance class and she actually did learn a lot or as much as a 5 year old could absorb. My daughter wanted to take a break from dance and try t-ball we might be back after T- Ball season. My daughter has been dancing with Capitol Dance Company since she was 5 years old. Now a sophomore in High School and dancing on her school team, she still takes all her technique classes at Capitol. Capitol prepared her well and she has learned all styles including jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, modern, musical theater, hip-hop and pointe. She competes with the competition team and participates in the adjudicated ballet performance awards program. The staff has become like family to us and my daughter has had experienced challenging growth opportunities including student teaching, solo work and experimenting with choreography. Both my daughters have danced at this studio for years and they both think the world of their current teachers, Ms Chelsea and Ms Taylor. I don't know much about the different styles of dance, but after attending dance competitions as a part of this studio for a couple years, I truly appreciate the age-appropriateness of the costume and dance choreography that this studio provides.
