My fiancee and I wanted to learn a Bollywood dance for our Sangeet night. My fiancee had some prior experience with dancing, but I am someone who has absolutely no clue how to dance. I am so glad that we went with Dance Identity.. our instructor, Snigdha, was super friendly and helpful. Even her husband helped out with the groom's steps and seeing them dance made it even easier to learn. She taught us both some simple yet elegant steps, and in a couple of weeks we had it mostly down. Her choreography was simply outstanding. She also made the song mix for us. We chose 2 songs and asked her for a recommendation for a third song. She made a mixtape with parts of all 3 songs that flowed really well. She was very patient with teaching us the dance and gave us a recording of the steps we learned to practice at home. I joined DI 10 yrs back and since then it has been my home. I honestly wouldn't have picked dancing as a serious hobby if it wasn't for DI. It's simply amazing. So my family gifted me a 1hr Bollywood dance class... truly thinking out of the box for what "mom" would want. It was so fun. Our instructor was Snegha, and she did a wonderful job coordinating 3 kids aged 9-14 and my husband, and myself. We are not intrinsically coordinated. She chose upbeat music that was easy to follow. She simplified the moves, and we rehearsed and laughed, and by the end, we had a full 3 minute routine. Considering we started with zero skills... I was very impressed. :). Love Shaira's classes, I have known Shaira for years and take many many classes from her, love her energy, style, choreo and song selection.

I had attended a few regular and performance spotlight sessions. My experience, especially with the Bollywood routine, has not been as enjoyable. Even for a dancer with good rhythm and decent style, the class becomes almost such a negative experience that you start doubting your own dance. Here's why - Annually, the company holds a performance in a well sized auditorium called spotlight. Practice classes happen for 3 months before spotlight day. It is quite demotivating and mentally draining to attend the spotlight practice sessions where the instructor is usually picking her standard favorites to dance at the front of the group. The favorites simply mean people who are on good, jovial terms with her, not just the ones that dance well. It doesn't matter how regularly and sincerely you attend class or how many sessions you attend or even how much you practice to pick up the choreography and the technique. (A person who might have missed close to half the classes might even be positioned right at the front of the group.) The dancers that have flaky memory with the choreography or are not as good with timing are promoted to higher level classes by the instructor. It really helps if you stand right behind the instructor during practice so she can notice you. Sadly, I was slow to realize it. It becomes really hard to move from one level to another if the instructor doesn't really care about or notice your growth and improvement as much as you care about dancing. Would not recommend this place unless you are willing to go through this mental anxiety and self doubt, if you are one of the unlucky ones who go largely unnoticed. read more

I have been taking classes at Dance Identity for the past 3 years. I was a complete beginner when I started and it has become so addictive. The place is very spacious and clean and the teachers are very genuine and passionate about sharing their knowledge and love for dance. Just realized it's been a little over a year since I started going to the DI Fit classes now so I figured I'd leave a review :) The DI Fit classes are awesome. Every class is a good combination of cardio, Pilates and weight training. I've tried a couple of other group fitness offerings lately (Barry's, Soulcycle...etc) and while I've enjoyed them, it's still really hard to beat the value, the workout and the amount of fun you get here. Dance Identity classes are a lot of fun! I took the Bollywood Dance Class at Supreme Court in Sunnyvale for $120/10 classes. Shaira is a professional Bollywood choreographer (she's choreographed famous movies like "Dhoom"). She's a fantastic teacher, always energetic and patient. She will repeat moves until the class gets them. The music is the latest Bollywood film music - usually hip-hop/club beats. The dances are a fusion of Indian movies, jazz moves, and Bollywood. Lots of fun, although the dance classes tend to be mostly female (we had ~15 women & 1 guy). read more

Nima is one of the best teachers I have come across. Not only that, she is an absolutely fantastic dancer! I've taken bollywood cardio classes at cupertino and totally enjoyed it. The cardio portion is what I am most interested in and adding in a bit of fun and dancing is the perfect blend. Nima is a patient teacher and has the right amount of warmup, cardio, dance and yoga in her class to keep you engaged. I recommend this class to anyone interested in getting a great workout as well as learn some great dance moves! Dance Identity is so amazing.. I still remember my first day with Dance Identity where I could not move my two hands together in two different directions; people said I had two right feet. Today I hear a different story. People wanting to learn "that twist wala step" from me. This review is long overdue for the wonderful Mrs. Riddika! My family first met her this past January as she trained my Sister and Brother n law for a Bollywood style dance for their wedding reception. I will have to say that with over 250 guests in attendance, their performance knocked everyone's socks off! They got so many rave reviews and compliments that people were shocked how they were able to accomplish such a task since both are busy in their profession. They did acknowledge that without Riddika, it would have never happened so smoothly! Fast forward six months later, and it was my turn, as I was getting married! For my Wedding reception, my Wife and I needed someone that would help us with a Bollywood performance which would mellow the crowd starting with a nice slow dance and finish up with lighting and electrifying our guests! Well, we did not have to look any further as Riddika was our go to girl! After five lessons with Riddika, she was really able to help us accomplish this and even better when our Wedding Reception came around we were extremely confident in front of 300 guests who were amazed and wanted more. Riddika is a very kind, patient and understanding Dance Instructor. She also teaches not only the correct moves with the tempo of the song, but facial and hand expressions as well. Because of that, my wife was a very fast learner, it was me that was dragging the rhythm but Riddika had a game plan in place where she reformed the dance moves and I was able to fly with inspiring colors! My fiance and I wanted to learn a Bollywood-style dance for our wedding reception and hired Deepta at Dance Identity for private lessons. She was super friendly and easy to work with, from helping us choose the right song to nailing down the moves. She was very patient with us (my fiance is a beginner at dance) and made sure to modify moves that were too difficult. She also provided a lot of helpful tips on the small things that make a big difference, like facial expressions and hand positions. After just three lessons, we were able to learn an entire 2 and 1/2 minute dance. When it came time to perform at the wedding, we had a great time and our guests went wild over it! This review is strictly for studio rental. Dance Identity is one of the few studios that actually rent out their studio space. It is so hard to find a dance studio around the area that lets you rent out their studio. I was looking for a dance studio to rent out for my small hip-hop crew and Dance Identity was the perfect pick. Not only was the studio in my area but the room itself had plenty of space. Their pricing is also reasonable. You do have to put down a deposit but as long as you return the studio as you found it, I guarantee you will get that deposit back. The dance studio itself contains nice wooden flooring, mirror walls, a kitchen sink, a bathroom, and a stereo for all your personal usages! I would like to thank Shaira and Riddhika for their total cooperation and great communication through my emails! I will definitely be renting out this space again in the future! This review is based on an outstanding choreography done by Dance Identity for 3 of our dances to be performed on my Sangeet night and Reception (couple of our Indian Wedding events). We loved the way Riddhika and Deepika taught us the steps, slowly and gradually leading from start of the song to the end, thinking of the steps on the go, and getting it perfect right there and then. They did a lot of hard work to make sure we also follow them on each step, and if needed they also slowed down their pace to match ours. At the end of every session of choreography for all these performances, we recorded a video of all the steps we learned so far, before heading out, and that helped us in practice at home. Eventually, we got our steps/moves almost as per what was taught. Riddhika is a real fun person and great choreographer. We had a blast in those sessions with her. She even helped us figure out which parts of the songs would not look good with dance, so as to cut those parts out, etc. Got very less chance to work with Deepika, but we caught up really nice with her in those few sessions, and she is an equally fun person. Couple of sessions were very close to our Wedding events, so she drove to our place to finish up those final sessions. That was really nice of her. Shaira has created an amazing team and atmosphere at the venue. Guests at our Wedding events loved our dances, and we give all the credit for that to this amazing Dance Identity team. Finoli is just an awesome dance teacher. The amount of energy and passion she puts in teaching dance steps in phenomenal. I learnt three bollywood dances from her to perform on upcoming wedding celebration in family and believe me I could not even imagine that I can ever dance to such a perfection in steps. She has very good techniques and puts lots of thoughts in the song which would look better as per the situation with proper use of props if required.
