It allowed me to get an extra hour of a workout in during the week and now I'm hooked! Krav is a real world self-defense that makes me feel strong and prepares me for real life situations. ASD also offers many other classes and so many talented instructors! Coach Shayne has been a big influence on myself and my husband. He continues to help us learn proper fighting techniques. Andrea is an awesome coach who continues to amaze us! Amit, Troy, Chris, Sergey, Marziya, and Jason have all taught me so much in Krav. Ilya's Hyrox and Fighter Flow classes are fun and a great workout! He also has a cook book that explains easy and healthy recipes! Manny's Boot Camp/kickboxing classes are always intense and will leave you sore. James' DEKA class was creative, hard and definitely worth a try! My son has enjoyed the Kids Krav classes....thank you James, Andrea, Anh and Marziya for teaching the big group of kids! I love watching him come home and practice and share what he learned. We often compare what we are all doing in class during the week. I can't forget Neal, the owner! And Carrie at the front desk! They always make us feel welcome and at home! I joined the Locked In For Summer Challenge that they organized at ASD. It has helped me stay focused on my nutrition and fitness goals. And has helped me meet some new friends! Right away, I noticed the tight-knit camaraderie. There's a strong sense of community that honestly feels even more connected than other group fitness gyms like F45. As a first-timer, I felt welcomed from the start. The energy is on another level. The headset mic system helps amplify coaching across the large floor space, making the session feel clear and high-energy. Coach Brenden's shout-outs during the workout were electric--you could tell everyone was feeding off it. After class, Kim at the front desk was incredibly helpful--she walked me through a tour and went over my InBody results in detail. That kind of individual attention isn't something you always get, and it really stood out. My wife joined me for the class too (she had to rush out early since she works in Menlo by 6:30 AM), but we were both impressed by the vibe and professionalism. On a personal note--I've admired Brian Nunez from afar since meeting him a couple of times back in the 2006-2008 Club One / Active Sports Club days. It felt full-circle finally stepping into the space he's built. He's become a truly respected leader in the fitness industry, and FNS absolutely reflects that vision. During my consultation we went over my goals and over the first couple of sessions after assessing my fitness levels he came up with tailored training and nutrition plans to help me meet said goals. He's very knowledgeable and adept at personal training. On several occasions he's taught me the correct technique to do a particular movement so I can target the muscle group more effectively and avoid any potential injury. He makes sure that I challenge myself during every session and pushes me to my body's limit. Most importantly Paul makes the sessions a lot of fun. He holds me accountable, motivates me to push myself, and is very open to hearing any feedback. I enjoy our conversations between sets and that makes each session go by fast! I learned to climb a rope, climb over a wall, keep my joints flexible, do a bar hold for a minute and do my very first push-up at 3fit. I was amazingly impressed with how she did the assessment and pointed out all of my problems through my movements, and told me how to train to improve them and my back conditions (I have a long history of severe back pain). We focused on all the basic techniques first, the first few sessions were all about how to engage the core and breathe right to make sure I work out safely. These are essential for all sport training, but also significantly important for people with bad back like me. Gwen's workouts are challenging but super fun to do. She always listen to how my body feels to make necessary adjustment. I have passed the period of mobility focus and now working more on the agility workouts. My back has been great, and after the first few months of moving slow, I started seeing steady results. I took a Dexa scan at the beginning to know where I was at, and now taking it every 2 months to keep track of the results. While my lean mass has increased a bit slowly, I have drop quite a good amount of fat mass, and my bone mineral is higher. If you are looking for a trainer, I highly recommend Gwen, she is a perfect match for any training needs but even more so for people with injury and training limits.
