Time flies and we're still there. My older daughter was trained to become a teacher and is now an instructor at Cirque San Jose, my younger has learned and progressed over the years and is in training to be instructor when she's in high school. Needless to say she is still enjoying the circus tremendously. Both girls have friends and family for life. I've watched those who where instructors while in High School when we started go to college and come back during the summer to teach and am delighted to see these wonderful human being grow in front of my eyes. I can't even begin to express what a blessing Cirque San Jose has been in our life! Cheryl the owner has a heart of gold and is the most generous and caring person in the world. She has an amazing balance of love, understanding and yes, some times a little tough love but always respectful.
I'm shocked to see Dr.Drake R. and Chanandler B. reviews it really seems like a cruel teenager prank. I have never seen a bored child at camp in all the years we've been there and none of the things said make any sense or are even remotely true. Teachers cannot pay attention to certain children as children are divided into small groups by age and level, they have a stations rotation so each teacher usually has about 6 kids to work with at each station, often there's an instructor and an assistant so 2 people help a small group of kids to learn skills for that station, like walking on a ball, juggling, acrobatics, aerial silks etc. so at each station there would be kids at about same level. They are not placed in same group with advanced people but a young child who is very good at Diablo can be in same group as an older child who's also good with this prop (as an example). So kids are given full attention and personal instruction at each station. The yelling comment is odd, as Allison is a very gentle person who I think cannot even physically yell even if her life depends on it. Sometimes they need to raise their voice to get attention of a large group of kids in a big room but can't call it 'yelling'. The day at camp has a pretty routine structure, after lunch they finish rotations and after 2pm have some free time to practice whatever they want or prepare for the show that happens at the end of a 2 week session, while the teachers start to clean up and fold equipment around 3pm. These profiles seem fake, both opened just now before the review, one of them has only this review, the other reviews a place that's closed (Dynasty) and a High School (which goes to show it's a teenager posting, there are no high-schoolers at camp, if there would be a high school aged teen they would be trained as an assistant. So these reviews are completely not credible. read more
