You can trust he will give you new and exciting ways to rethink/repurpose a space . You can trust that he will keep his word and stick to your budget. You can trust that he deliver in his promises. Expect an up front design fee. It includes a detailed estimate as well as a spectacular 3-D rendering of your project- similar to what you would see on a popular HGTV show. Even if you don't choose to use him as a contractor, you get to keep the design. Let's face it, building your dream yard can be quite expensive. If you're going to spend the money, you should expect to have a unique design that will wow you and your guests. Don't settle for a cookie cutter design that you see repeated throughout North County. We contracted with Lux (Dominic) to do a remodel of our existing pool. Dominic worked with us and together we agreed upon an updated look that worked with our existing landscape. We needed the pool remodel to be completed by September 15 as we were hosting a 70th birthday party so the project was started right after July 4th. It was estimated that the pool demo, rebuild, and completion would take between 5-6weeks. It took a little longer, more like 8 weeks but the setbacks were mitigated and addressed right away. We had a good experience with all of the workers who showed up on time every day, worked a full day, and left the property cleaned up at the end of the day. There was a glitch towards the end of the project with a pipe leak to the jacuzzi. A small portion of the new cement decking had to be removed (and replaced) but it was fixed in time and the pool was ready for it's reveal on the day of the party. Just had a great 70th birthday party and EVERYONE loved the pool with the clean lines (cement coping, the vertical tiles, pebble bottom, and the LED lighting). Meh, I wasted $3K on these guys for an unsafe pool design. Dom was flakey, and inexperienced with the proposed drawing for our HOA. After so many promises, nothing was followed through. I chose to go with a big company. read more

Lux did a fabulous job on my little yard! From start to finish I couldn't be more pleased. In my little back yard they put in stone flooring as well as concrete walkways, barbecue station, fireplace, planters, and a fountain. I read a few negative reviews, but I did not have the same experience. I was in a new development, and a very small yard and had only dirt to work with. Rick Shadley took my beginnings of design ideas, to a fabulous finished design that I couldn't be happier with. Rick was professional, easy to work with and had great ideas and knowledge of plant materials. In particular, I love the hardscape they created. The modern concrete planters are of exceptional quality, and they way the barbecue, fireplace and planters tie together is a work of art. They also installed turf between concrete pavers, which I am in love with. The majority of my plants are of the low water variety, and they have all grown to compliment each other. It is truly beautiful and colorful. Dominic was very professional and a great communicator. And it didn't hurt to genuinely like him as a person. Dom has great vision and was genuinely excited about my project. He had very qualified people to handle each aspect of the design and construction of my yard. Experts in hardscape, drainage and irrigation, lighting and planting. Lux has even won an award for my yard, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for something fabulous! We hired LUX a few months back to design and execute a complete redo of our back yard. From the first walk though with Dom, we knew we made a good decision. Dom and his team have kept us up to date on every step of the pool, fire pit and BBQ construction. The LUX crew and all the subs have been extremely professional and very good at their trades. The project manager, Santiago, has been extremely easy to work with. His scheduling and open lines of communication with us has made this a very enjoyable process. His experience in the industry really shows. I would highly recommend them for any size project you may have. It's now been over a year with our Lux made backyard. Still loving it! Had a few warranty type things come up with the Pentair equipment that Dom had installed. I called Dom and he had someone out to take care of it within a day. The plants and grass have grown in nicely. We get nothing but complements on our yard from everyone that visits. It looks and feels like a luxury resort, but with out the crowds. We still would recommend Lux Landscape to anyone that wants to turn their backyard into an awesome oasis of fun and relaxation. read more

We enlisted the help of Dominic and team to do the landscaping of our front yard. The initial planning phase went well, but the delivery was horrible. We paid upfront for labor and supplies and what was delivered wasn't what Lux committed to. The team was inexperienced. Hardscape/concrete chipped and the plants were much smaller than what was in the contract. Lux also did not install proper drainage. This caused mud and wood chips to stream into our neighbor's driveway. Had to enlist another contractor to remediate. Dominic didn't come to do a final walk through and several of the plants didn't take. Unfortunately, this wasn't a good experience. read more

From the beginning Dominic created our design with the budget in mind which is what we needed. His design for our backyard was exquisite! I love the modern look with drought tolerant plants. We also appreciated the communication and speed from him. Overall, we had a great experience with Dom and his design and hard work is now being enjoyed on a daily basis. About a month ago Lux Landscape Design completed a fairly large project for me. The work consisted of removing and replacing a large driveway, installing all new walkways, slabs and a lot of special stonework. They also built a very special free standing patio cover along with BBQ etc. that very much enhances our backyard. I'm retired and spent my entire career in the construction industry. I was a worker, manager and partner in a large construction company. I spent a lot of time supervising people and crews. Dominic (the owner), his supervisors and crews Performed at a very high level and did quality work. Dominic (the owner) is unprofessional and downright inappropriate. We have been given the run around by their office and our landscaping project got dragged out for over a full year. Our neighbors had completely different landscaping experiences than we did. Like another reviewer, we have not received a walk thru. I would NOT recommend Lux to anyone. DO NOT USE THEM!! I used Lux to do a complete remodel on my backyard including concrete, deck, retaining walls, irrigation system, turf, drought tolerant plants and a gorgeous remodeled pool (minor issues with the execution of the pool). The work was completed fall 2017 thru spring 2018. Each member of the team was reliable and polite and I enjoyed getting to know them. The architect, Scott Hilton, came up with the awesome yard and pool design and I am extremely happy with the transformation of my back yard. 5 stars for Scott!! The design is clean and cohesive. We hired Dominic to design and implement our backyard. He is an absolute genius when it comes to design, blended our existing east coast traditional house with a modern look. He knew exactly how to get my vague ideas and expand upon then beautifully! From the beginning he was upfront about every part of the process, from permits to rain delays (which were out of his control, but he did great at keeping us informed). His pool design is modern and beautiful and our backyard is transformed. Every contractor or employee who has been on the site has been knowledgeable and hardworking. His project supervisor Santiago is absolutely the best, he makes sure aspect of the project is handled with great detail. We were in the middle of the pool dig and he saw rain was coming and that it would be a nightmare, immediately started organizing and we had rebar and gunite completed just in time for the downpour.
