Western Pavers completed our project Feb 2026 and we were very pleased with the outcome. Sales and Designer consultant Josh Warren was very understanding of his clients needs and fairness to pricing and costing is extraordinary. He was not too concerned whether or not he could close the deal, and was able to find ways to help us meet our budget. Josh is very thorough in understanding his clients needs in regard to assisting us with developing the design process to make it easier for us get our inner thoughts to align and achieve our final project plans. The crew was very hardworking and would sometimes make suggestions on how the original design can be better enhanced by showing us ideas that actually exceeded our expectations. The crew was also very hardworking and diligent and made efforts to make changes to original plans as my wife directed them accordingly. It was apparent that they worked to satisfy us to the end results to be excellent. The crew worked quietly and they were very approachable to answer questions or concerns. The project manager Chilo Velazquez who directed his team Luis, Rigo, Beto, Alex, William and others were an amazing team of professionals. We highly recommend this company to anyone who wants exceptional quality in design, work ethics and the completion of our project was in a timely fashion.

We only concrete stairs, a landing, and railings. Demolition was quick and they kept the debris contained and moved it out easily.

Greg is an amazing landscape architect and the quality of work was exceptional. They transformed our drab side yard into a space in which enjoy spending time!

Designer: Ed; Project Manager: Jesus; Foreman: Miguel The team is amazing on all aspects. We had a large project in a full backyard renovation from demolition to turf, pool, hardscape, outdoor kitchen, outdoor family room with TV wall, covered and trellis patio as well as landscaping with mature fruit trees. They worked with us every step of the way to make a vision into a realitityareality. We cannot under estimate the service from points of contact and keeping us up to date with the timeline and process. Very knowledgeable from minute details of recommendation of colors as well as practical information never considered including plumbing and lighting.

Western pavers made our resort dreams come true. Joseph, Victor, Daniel, Angel, and Jesus did an amazing job of renovating our backyard.

Western pavers made our resort dreams come true. Joseph, Victor, Daniel, Angel and Jesus all knocked it out of the park. The paver, fireplace, fire pit, landscape and lighting were all top self. I can't thank them enough for all of their professionalism, friendly approach and pure craftsmanship. Well done team !!!

We contracted with Western Pavers for a backyard renovation. We had a swimming pool & jacuzzi that we rarely used and we wanted something that would allow for more space and room for entertaining. We worked with the sales guy Jerry and received an initial quote. We went through a back & forth design process which included plan changes, design changes, etc. and ended up with a really great design. They used a CAD design process that helped us to better see the finished product & provided architectural blueprints for each phase of the project. We had the pool & jacuzzi removed by a separate contractor and Western Pavers worked with us on timing of completion so that they could start the renovation without too much time in between. We decided to do pavers, a large barbecue/outdoor kitchen, fire pit, artificial turf & planters. We also added low voltage lighting for the plants, under counter lighting for the BBQ and fire pit. Brian, our Project Manager was fantastic. He was an excellent communicator (very responsive with texts/calls), offered his suggestions and ideas, and helped us achieve the best outcome. He managed the permits, the coordination of all subs, the delivery of materials etc. Chino, the work crew lead, was also easy to work with & a good communicator. They have a great crew and always found a way to satisfy our requests. They were focused on making us happy with the finished product and did a great job of it. We also decided to use Western Pavers to partially renovate our front hardscaping. They removed the concrete front porch, courtyard, walkway and flagstone ribbon on our driveway and replaced it all with pavers. They were careful not to damage our existing stone or front door. It was a beautiful way to update and freshen up the look of the house. We were uncomfortable with the initial payment schedule that they proposed, which required 85% of the total contract payments to be paid at the start of the paver installation. While there was a lot of work completed up to this point, we were uncomfortable paying that much upfront. After considerable negotiation, we agreed upon a reasonable payment schedule. We were very happy with the finished product and would highly recommend Western Pavers for your landscaping and hard-scaping needs. They were not the cheapest option, but well worth it. We would use them again and have recommended them to neighbors and friends.

The team at Western Pavers did a great job from start to finish - from the initial assessment right on through to the finished yard. Joseph and his team put together a fantastic design that more than met our expectations and was within our budget. The ability to see the design via the CAD drawings and to work interactively with Joseph was also key to getting what we wanted and understanding the costs. Once the work started, Clint and his team led by Everado and Rigo really delivered. They communicated regularly and did a top notch job on all aspects of the project, from the hardscape, to the irrigation, to lighting and plant installation. We highly recommend them.

A couple of months after our pavers were installed, a section near the edge of our property separated from the rest of the pavers. It wasn't the kind of thing you could just fill in with sand. We called Western Pavers and they sent out "Chilo", who was the foreman on our job. He looked it over and told us that the entire section needed to be redone. They thought they had put a deep enough foundation in, but apparently not. With all the rain San Diego had this winter, I'm sure that contributed to the issue as well. The next day, Chilo brought out a worker and the worker are pulled up all the old pavers. He then proceeded to dig a deeper foundation, filled it with concrete and also created a low concrete retaining wall by the fence. I was very impressed with the amount of dirt that was dug up just for this section that was maybe 4' x 4'. We were amazed at the quality of the work. You could not tell that there had been a separation. The lines were perfectly straight and were the same width as the rest of the pavers. The cleanup was great. Unless you knew, one could not tell that we had the separation. It's good to know that Western Pavers stands by their warranty. We were not charged anything and they did the repair in a really timely fashion. In fact, they would've started earlier except for the rain. I am very confident that we will not have this problem again.

My brother had used Western Pavers a few years ago and loved their work. We called them for our backyard project and boy are we glad we did. They removed all of our old concrete, including our driveway, and installed pavers. Then they built a new patio cover and even installed a water feature. Our drainage system was shot so they replaced it. They also created new electrical outlets. We couldn't be happier. Request Joe and your designer, Jesus as your project manager and Miguel as your foreman. Then watch the amazing results!

Western pavers sent there main man Josh over to provide us with an estimate and help us design our additional parking area and backyard area. Once he help us with our vision we were on our way. Josh and his project supervisor Victor put our plan together and did a fantastic job. From start to finish there were no hiccups. Just a job well done from the entire Western Pavers team. I highly recommend Western Pavers San Marcos for yours and our next project.

Belgard Bella "I" pattern, I used it in the drive way all the way to the back.

I worked with Louis on the design and sale of the project. He came out three times before worked started and was very thorough. Western Pavers deal with Belgard pavers (among others) and there is a wide selection. Louis walked me though ideas and budgets. When work started I worked with Clint and Ramiro. Both were incredibly responsive and the crew worked incredibly hard during this very hot summer. I never heard cross words and they seemed to know each other and have worked together before. I love the work. I completely changed not only how my house looks - but how I feel about my place. When I walk up I have a sense of pride and joy. I also feel that this was a great value. Now I will need to do more work! I feel that I need to mention the staff when I called Nathan in the office and the service was excellent all the way around.

Our experience with Western Pavers was very pleasant. We appreciate the no-pressure consultation sessions we had with Greg. He came over to our outdated backyard and actively listened to our idea and converted them into a 3D model adding his touch. We enjoyed seeing that model. After having 3 sessions with Greg we signed the project. Thank you Greg for being patient with us. Then the project manager Jesus came onboard bringing the drawing and explaining us on our project start date and expected end date with what to expect along the project. Clear communication. The install team led by Miguel was very professional and dedicated to the project. We liked when Miguel double checks with us some details right before implementing the plan. We were able to do some detail adjustments to our likings. Kudos to Jesus, Miguel and the team for finishing the project as planned without any delays.

Noe Pablo was the most thorough in messaging through the Yelp app, so my husband and I chose him. I had 2 medium-sized fruit trees I needed to transfer from my parent's home in Southeast San Diego to mine in North County. I took pictures and he gave us a very reasonable price. We also decided to also add another service to take out our palm tree. There were a couple of mishaps such as: The day he was scheduled to take out the palm tree, he was a no-show and my husband had to call him an hour after he was supposed to arrive. Then, the day after that incident, was the fruit tree transfer. He and his team forgot to bring their dolly. Thank goodness my Dad had one so they borrowed it, but now we have the burden in taking it back. Despite these mishaps, Noe was very knowledgeable and professional in his mannerisms. The day of the fruit tree transfer, he and his team arrived in a timely manner, was efficient and did a great job overall. Some things I wish I knew then that I know now might help others when planning their yards. Yes, Smart Landscape does a lovely job. Here's what would have made my upkeep a lot easier. 1. Extra protection ground cover to eliminate weeds. Some yards get no weeds because a super heavy cover has been used. I've spent countless hours pulling weeds since yards were done. 2. Go over what plants are going to be used. If I'd done that, I would've saved money and work to remove those that had needles that made it difficult/dangerous to remove. 3. If the designer had visited front yard, he would have seen the slight slope and the DG pathway would not have been a logical design choice. Rain washes it away and I'll have to eventually figure out a way to close up that space. 4. At that time, I didn't meet with the designer. I should have. Although it's a lovely design, I would have pointed out a change or two I'd have preferred. 5. Gray DG is not readily available and it has been difficult to keep the pathway refreshed. Someone said that he was going to provide it, but never did. Overall, I am glad I hired Smart Landscape. UPDATE: I needed to come back to add another star after carefully considering how wonderful Danny and his team are to work with. Andrew H. came to my property on August 13, 2025, to give me a quote for installing pavers throughout my backyard. I explained very clearly that my number one requirement was correcting the slope so that rainwater would no longer flow toward my home. This was confirmed as a priority after multiple inspections from roof gutter companies and landscapers. I was scheduled to be out of town for five weeks, and I initially planned to wait until I got back. But Andrew assured me multiple times that they regularly work while homeowners are away, that everything would be monitored, and that I would return to a finished project done correctly in less than a week. Based on that reassurance, I agreed to let the project begin while I was gone. That decision turned into a nightmare. Project Problems From Day 1: Before work even began, I asked them to cover certain areas to prevent damage during concrete removal. 9/9/25: - Their vendor dropped pallets of pavers directly in front of my garage, completely blocking access. - The crew then said their wheelbarrows couldn't fit through the side gate because of how the AC unit was positioned. Andrew attempted to charge me $1,000 to move the AC the next day or $500 to do it on Saturday. - Andrew then insisted they could access the yard through my garage instead. I told him that was impossible due to the size of the wheelbarrows and the narrow door. He argued it would work and scheduled the job for September 13. Because of all this, I had to end my trip early, driving back from Northern California with my dogs on short notice. 9/12/25: When I checked my cameras, I saw the workers using the same wheelbarrows they said wouldn't fit and they did use the side gate anyway. When I got home, I saw: - My side gate pulled apart - My AC unit pushed up against the wall and held by a large rock None of this was discussed or approved. Andrew, who had been very present during the quote process, was nowhere to be found during the actual work. I ended up dealing with Jose (his manager?) instead. Even the lead worker, Eric, confirmed that the wheelbarrows never would have fit through the garage exactly what I had said from the beginning. And to make things worse, because their pallets blocked my garage, I couldn't have moved my car for 2 weeks. 9/17-18/25: - Rain water flows inside the garage because pavers were installed higher than door step. Their resolution was to put a a small circular drain in front of the door. 9/25/25: They "finished" the job, but the list of issues was long: - The side gate wouldn't open because they installed the pavers too high (they trimmed down the gate to resolve). - Polymeric sand was not installed correctly: it was patchy, missing in several areas. - My sliding door track was damaged from concrete debris and sand, even though I repeatedly asked them to cover it. - Worst of all: the paver grade was installed HIGHER than the threshold of my garage side door, exactly what I told them NOT to do. This means water gets trapped and pushed inside my garage; this was the entire problem I hired them to fix. The small drain did not do anything. It rained again from 11/15 - 11/21/25, and the water issues persist to this day. The most important part of the project and the reason I did it at all was not resolved. Andrew keeps mentioning that I need to have rain gutters installed, but I had them before and I know that it was not the issue. I had multiple vendors come out again for sanity check to tell me that gutters won't solve the drainage issue. From the misleading reassurances, to the damage to my property, to the poor workmanship, to the complete lack of accountability, this has been one of the worst contractor experiences I've ever had. I cannot recommend Rock N Block. I trusted them with an important project, and instead I'm left with new problems, unresolved issues, and property damage.
