CA Deck Pros recently completed a large job for us. Blake was very helpful from the very beginning. He answered all of my questions on my first call and setup a consultation to review our job. He showed up on time to walk through our backyard. We have a pretty big yard with a decent slope. Initially we had imagined a deck coming right off of our house. Blake had suggested moving the deck out over our slope to maximize the usable area. Man, I am glad he did. This proved to be a much better outcome. Blake built a beautiful Azek Timbertech deck for us. It was a seemless process from the initial phone call to completion. He was able to give us a bid and begin work in a reasonable amount of time and the workmanship is high quality as are the materials. We also wanted a glass rail and he easily made that happen. This update is for Blake's response after reading my review and what has transpired since. He texted, emailed and called the same day I posted my review. He apologized, "First off I owe you an apology as a person who values there own time I am very sorry if or that I wasted yours." I do admire people in general that can take ownership of their actions because it's speaks to their maturity, ethicality and good business practices. Moreover, I genuinely appreciated it - apology accepted! He ended his email with, "I am embarrassed that a review is what it took for me to contact you again as I should have communicated weeks ago." :-) We have since talked and he has partnered with my husband and I again to create a beautiful backyard. The demo started this past Saturday 6/16...and his associate is great :-))...so far so good. A team of 4 young men, arrived 15mins early ready to work. They were so efficient, pleasant and careful (we just had new windows & doors installed). They return tomorrow, Mon 6/18. Blake is obviously a decent young deck builder but was seriously inexperienced in the values of customer relations and meeting commitments as expected from "Five Star" businesses. Heed other reviews and concerns on communication and follow-up, and being difficult to work with. We ended up having to pour a carport without post cutouts for future deck posts because he did not come by and layout post locations as promised multiple times! We would have been glad to work with them, but his was unacceptable. We saw some nice looking work and great reviews for the company, which I'm sure are accurate. Our experience was terrible. Deck Pro's subsequently built a deck for the neighbor who referred him, and the workmanship was average, at best. It would not have been acceptable to a discriminating customer. We feel fortunate that we did not move forward with Deck Pros. Proceed with caution! read more

I can't stop looking at our new deck railing! We bought our house with the deck and cable railing done by the previous owner/contractor. It was done so poorly that the I thought we would have to tear the whole thing down and rebuild at great expense before it fell down. He put a rooftop deck on for me when others said it was not possible. Everything looks modern and clean, the workmanship is great. He was patient during permitting delays and got to work quickly and efficiently when we were ready to go! The 3D rendering and planning was free when others wanted to charge to lock you in. We made plenty of adjustments and there was no nickel and dime-ing.. He did everything from retaining walls and pavers to a multilevel deck, fencing and modern railing. Blake and the rest of his crew did a great job for us. From concept through reality they went above and beyond with every little detail. While they were working they would have suggestions on how to make things look even better and took the time to get things done properly. We thought out of the box a bit with our design to incorporate the sunset we get from our backyard and make sure the patio cover did not affect it. They constructed a patio cover and deck for us with a wow factor that is above and beyond what anyone else could achieve. Nearly two weeks ago, I sent them a message asking if they were interested in providing an estimate to remove my old patio cover and put in a new wood cover. A day or so later, Blake called asking me to text a couple of pictures of my existing cover. I did that. I would appreciated the courtesy of at least telling me that they were not interested. I've upped my rating to 3 stars because Blake called me and apologized. We did call him initially because of great reviews but he is not a man of his word. He did show up for the estimate and seemed very knowledgeable but does not follow through at all. When I texted him saying still haven't received estimate and being unhappy with response time I received... you guessed it NO response. When my wife and I started to think about building a deck in the back of our house I didn't expect I will be so excited about this project so that I will write a review, but this was like a Mega Decks show without the television. If I could give 7 stars to Blake and his business I would, and that is just because of his passion, experience, professionalism, great attention to the details (and I am a very picky person), patience, but mostly because of his dedication. Nowadays, when is so hard to find a good contractor who does a high quality job, delivers the project in time and at a fair price, getting to know Blake was a blessing. My project consisted of a 1,200 sqft patio with 900 sqft Ipe decking, and the rest concrete. It was a highly customized project all the way from concept to final product. Aside from the heavy timber structure needed for my deck, the floor had 3 sections, all different in shape and direction which made the structure underneath pretty complex. There was no cable railing at the edges as I planned but instead we built privacy walls made out of metal and wood, and a wood railing that mixed Ipe and Cedar. The interesting part was that some of the railing was in an "S" shape where Blake really displayed his best art. The master piece was a 9ft high custom pergola that goes through the deck and tie into the main structure, all covered by Sunbrella fabric. I can write pages about my project and how it was done, but I want to leave you with the surprises Blake is capable of. If I may say one more thing is that I really appreciate Blake for the fact that he supported me in any changes I made during that project, even though some of those changes caused delays in the schedule. But he was always smiling and having a positive attitude that really helped me move on until the end of the project. I will highly recommend Blake to anybody, he is the man! read more

Disappointed in the results of our deck. After planning and discussing various options of pavers, a basic walk way or deck, we decided on a nice deck. We had envisioned a low to the ground deck. Simple not too expensive and appropriate for our area. After getting several estimates, and talking with other contractors, we decided on using this company. Looking at his business card with a picture of what we wanted, (low to the ground deck). How could we go wrong?. "A picture is worth a thousand words". So we decided to hire him. We experienced much of the above mentioned... the long process of lack of communication, putting off start date one month, never receiving the requested hard copies of the contract. Then one week before starting he sketched over the original rendering and changed it without our request. We still thought our deck would be nice. But these last minute changes made by Blake completely changed the deck to be elevated 17" which would enable us to look into our neighbors bedroom windows. Although he added 4 steps to the deck, its still not what we discussed December 2017. That was never my idea for 3 years of planning and budgeting for the deck. He explained my options and was knowledgeable about the different products available. After agreeing on a contract and start date, Blake and his crew started the job and discovered that my mobile home deck did not have enough support beams for the wooden railing. "We are problem solvers". Blake explained what needed to be done and I agreed to the extra costs. Because I decided on a less expensive gate configuration, Blake agreed to do the whole job for the price originally quoted, which covered the extra work that was done. The job was finished in a day and a half and I am completely satisfied. They expertly installed the two safety gates I purchased and replaced and painted two damaged pieces of siding. Blake agreed to give me a quote by Monday July 27th. No Quote. I reached out to CDP on Tuesday July 24th. They responded that Blake was sorry but would get me the quote the next day on July 25th. No quote. On Thursday July 28th I once again contacted CDP to see if they were going to quote the job. The response I received was "thank you for being patient. Blake is working on getting bids out and will get to yours as quickly as possible." Then Blake responded that he was sorry and he would have a quote to me by Monday August 3rd. Today is Monday August 17th and still no quote. Hard to give them anything but 1 star.
