We were now switching our color scheme to white, since we remodeled the house and added white crown molding and white baseboards. I lived with the ivory for a while, but they now looked "yellowish". (By comparison!) I had to call customer services as the rod holding up the patio door slider shutters, was just giving out. They were drooping and therefore could not open correctly. The fellow wanted to take the shutters off the wall. It would destroy the paint, etc. and damage the sheet rock, so I said he would have to figure it out. He took his time, worked it out, and the shutters were fixed. I had agreed to pay a hundred dollars, but when all was said and done, they did not charge me. Now I liked the paint job my daughter had done on her bath cabinets. I had her guy come and, for a reasonable price, he painted them carefully outdoors. He reinstalled them. I am so happy. They look and behave like brand new! I met Tyson twice. He is very personable and proud of his business. I have, and definitely will continue to, recommend this business.

But the failures of this vendor begin and end with a lack of communication and service. This has been the single worst experience with a Yelp merchant ever. Don't waste your time. The guy doesn't return calls, doesn't follow up. His word is crap. He installed motors in our shades (that took forever) and when one of the motors burned out after less than a year, came and picked the motor up with a promise to get it replaced by the manufacturer. That was December and the last we heard from him despite numerous follow ups from our end. No excuses. Just a lousy way of doing business.

Understanding this, my wife and I needed some new window coverings for our living room, dining room and a guest bedroom. We researched until we found five companies that had a large number of high reviews, above 4.8 on a scale of 5. We found all the sales people to be pleasant and their offerings varied, but one stood out above the rest, and that was Window Spaces. A small, local company, Katie, the owner, came for the estimate. After measurements, and spending time understanding what we wanted, she provided several options, with various price points. She was patient, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and seemed focus on matching our wishes with our needs. We indicated we wanted quality products. She gave us a bid that included Hunter Douglas products, a Roman blind for the guest room and draperies from the Hunter Douglas owned drape manufacturer. Of the five bids we received, Katie's bid was both the lowest and had the highest quality products. In fact, we had a bid from a company that deals solely with Hunter Douglas and when I called to let him know we would be going with another company that also offered Hunter Douglas. He asked if I could share the bid. I said it was a couple of thousand less than his bid. He seemed surprised and doubtful, but I assured him the bid was very explicit and Window Spaces listed the specific products, fabrics and manufacturers. Katie told us specifically the time frame for manufacturing, shipping and installation. She sent us confirmation of the orders to the manufacturers and their promised shipment date. Her customer skills are outstanding. She kept us informed and let us know when a part of the order arrived and offered to have it installed sooner than the promised date if we wished. On the day of installation, Hunter arrived first to install the blinds and was followed by Katie. Katie came in and she and Hunter installed the drapery sheers. Then she steamed them making sure they hung just right and picture perfect. There is something reassuring about dealing with a small business owner who obviously enjoys and is committed to the quality of her craftsmanship and serving her customers. For Katie, you are not only a customer, but you are part of the community she lives in, you are a neighbor.
