We couldn't be happier with our awning from SunControl! Let me start with we have had our awning for over 5 years and it has transformed our upstairs living space. As you can see in pictures below we had a lot of natural sun come in from the patio hitting our wood floors which we worried woudl fade and deteriorate them with time. Once this awning was installed it brought down the inside temperature of our upstairs living space by 10-15 degrees. It also makes our patio feel like a real extension of our living space with all the shade it offers. Scott gave us our initial consultation and followed through to the final installation, the entire process was seamless and professional. Scott owning this business for over 30 years was incredibly knowledgeable, helping us choose the perfect style and material to match our home. I have only needed to call him 3 times over the 5 years to ask for help. Each time I reach out within 24 hours Scott or a team member is at our house helping us with the awning. The quality of the awning is top-notch; it not only looks fantastic but also provides excellent shade and protection from the sun. We do get quite a bit of wind up on our patio in afternoons and Scott recommended the wind sensor so the awning would close on its own if it got too windy. Great decision we made based on his advice. If you are in a windier area you should definitely consider getting the wind sensor. We love that you can also adjust awning to go up higher or lower based on what kind of shade you want from the sun. In these pictures its lower but we keep it much higher in the fall winter time. Sun Control Products is the only company to call if you want or need a sunscreen. We have a west-facing deck with an ocean view, but the sun in the afternoon can be brutal. We were hesitant to put up a shade as we didn't really want to block out our view, but Scott brought several samples through which we could experience the effectiveness of the various materials. He took all the measurements, and as soon as the materials arrived, his crew came out and installed the sunshade. When finished, there was a gap between the house and the shade. We called Sun Control and explained our concerns. Scott came out and said he and his crew would be out again the following week to modify the shade brackets so the gap would be eliminated. As promised, they showed up on the appointed date and time and corrected the problem - no questions, no extra charges. Scott and his crew are AWESOME! We ordered a 20' awning to put on the side of our house. Tim, Francisco and Mauro came to install it. They arrived at the designated time and were very respectful of not entering our house in order to get to the side yard. It took about 2 hours for the installation. Once installed, Tim explained all the features and asked if we had any questions. He gave a thorough explanation of how to open, close and clean the awning. He showed us how to use the remote control and was eager to answer all our questions. First and foremost they were able to order and install and replace 2 huge screens that had been installed in solar two years ago by another company what a joke. we have a west facing set of windows that shine a lot of sun into our family room every evening. I asked for bids from several companies to place a sunshade on an outside pergola to block the glare. of all the bids made Scott from Sun Control impressed me the most with his extensive knowledge and examples of materials. his was not the lowest bid but I was most impressed with him and trusted his ability to get me the shade I wanted. his crew was awesome during the installation and that included running electrical for the shade motors. scott installed exactly what the contract called for and it worked great but we still got some glare because it did not go all the way down, there was a 12 inch gap at the bottom. I was in the market for an external, remote control powered, drop shade with side tracks. The first 2 quotes I obtained were from mid/large size awning companies. Both are based in LA/OC. However, one has a showroom in the Miramar area, which allowed me to see what is available and to ask some questions. None of the awning companies manufacture the products they sell. The materials and the price of products are similar, so the decision comes down to warranties, and customer service. I contacted Scott, the owner of SCP, and made an appointment to meet at my house. The plan was to see some fabric samples over the window(s) that will be covered, ask some questions, negotiate a bottom line price, and then contact another company. This all changed because my wife was so impressed with Scott that she was ready to sign. You know what they say about "happy wife........", but for me, the reason to go with Scott was more practical. Not only did he have the best warranty, but his original estimate was better than the other two companies. He gave me a timeline of 4-6 weeks. Five weeks later, the installers, Tim and his two helpers, arrived and did a first-rate installation. I'm a DIY'er and a perfectionist, so I appreciate good work. From tapping the electrical inside the house, to leveling and positioning the shade box and tracks, everything was meticulously and professionally done. What also impressed me was the care they took in positioning their ladders so there was very little impact to the garden below the windows. As you can probably tell, I highly recommend SCP. We just had Sun Control Products install two large retractable awnings. We're thrilled. I wish I purchased them 20 years ago, but I thought it too expensive and didn't want to spend the money. I finally did and we couldn't be happier. Our northwest exposure gets intense sun during the summer. With climate change, it's only going to get worse. Now we can actually use our backyard patio and it will be cooler inside (but it's too late for our furniture fading). We chose the options where the shades are controlled by a switch plate inside the house and a motion sensor for automatic retraction when it gets too windy for the shades to be extended.
