Red, Ed and team did such an amazing job all the way through the process. Initial discussion and planning was very pleasant (no pressure) and informative with Red, and everything from installation, cost, timing and service was exactly as described! Now our family has an extended, comfortable and cozy hangout area to enjoy for any occasion! 5-stars all-around, thank you Aluminum City team!!

10/10 best price best service and great quality! I got quotes from many places and this was by far the best one their quality and work is immaculate !!! Soooo glad I found them

I agree with all the other 5 star reviews, ditto. I'll add that I have worked with many contractors and what really sets Aluminum City apart is their communication and responsiveness, very closely followed with great pricing and quality. Red (co-owner) is Old San Diego - authentic, trustworthy, hard working and kind. The patio cover looks better than I ever expected. I highly recommend.

I messaged a few companies about replacing our old metal patio cover and each one was either way over our budget, or they were unable to meet our desired outcome. Red came out the next day after we spoke and took a look at the project and designed exactly what we were looking for in quality and budget. Red and his team were extremely professional and he was always willing to pick up the phone to answer any questions we had throughout the project. I couldn't recommend them more.

Aluminum City replaced my 30 yo wood pergola with a beautiful "Elitewood" aluminum patio cover. I highly recommend Aluminum City because of their competitive pricing, expertise, flexibility and excellent communication. There are many aluminum patio cover installers in town. While pricing was about the same across the board for the basic support and lattice, upgrade prices varied widely between installers for fans, outlets, lights, columns and solid core ceilings. But, they were all much higher when compared to Aluminum City; their upgrade pricing put their overall price well below the competition. Plus, while others reported that it took them a few weeks to receive Elitewood products, Aluminum City was able to get them in a few days. I wanted a non-standard patio cover: both lattice and solid core ceilings, multiple runs of high voltage cable, a dozen accent lights at specific locations, columns at specific locations, etc. The standard construction and lengths of Elitewood materials often doesn't lend itself to placing items in non-standard locations. However, Aluminum City had the knowledge and experience to place everything where I wanted it. While Aluminum City is able to provide turn-key covers including electrical, lighting, and painting complete, I appreciate that they were flexible enough to allow me to complete the construction. I have the knowledge and experience to terminate electrical runs and install fans, lighting and outlets. Some contractors won't allow customers this privilege, but Aluminum City didn't have a problem with it. I was a little nervous about Aluminum City at first. Co-owner and salesman/engineer, Red, is a character that conducts business the old fashioned way. He didn't provide a detailed computer-generated estimate five days after consultation. Instead, he provided a handwritten invoice on the spot that covered everything we discussed; just not in great detail. I was very concerned that I wouldn't receive the cover that I had agreed to. Thankfully, my fears were unfounded. Red was always available via text (even late at night and weekends), and his team went out of their way to install the cover I wanted and ensure my complete satisfaction. Deciding to replace my wood pergola with aluminum was tough. Yes, aluminum is much, much cheaper, but I was concerned that it would look cheap. It doesn't. In fact, it looks much better. This is because of the upgrades. The top upgrade was the fiberglass column because it make the cover look classic (though it is the only part of the cover that needs paint). I had two electrical circuits for lighting and outlets on the outside of my old system, as well as speakers. Aluminum City ran wires inside the cover for lights, fans, outlets, and speakers for a very finished look. Most contractors charge an arm and a leg for this service, but Aluminum City's price was much lower. I can't say enough good things about Aluminum City. I am very happy with their work and product, and I'm sure that others will be too.

Let me start out by saying that it's great to see a business run the way that Aluminum City is. The team has been doing this kind of work together for decades and their professionalism and great work is a masterclass in itself. I had moved into a new home and the existing Pergola was decaying so I called a few companies to get some quotes. Aluminum City was the most responsive, not because they weren't busy, but because they are highly efficient. While everyone was quoting me months out for my job, not only did Aluminum City say they could do my job in less than 30 days, they also gave me a better price (using only the best material, Four Seasons). Red came over and did a quick inspection and summary, handed me all of the necessary paperwork for me to submit to my HOA, and made sure to keep me updated throughout. Red, Ed, Paul, and Ruben came over on the date that was quoted and was able to wrap everything up in a day. They left the site spotless and they even arranged all my patio furniture the way that I had it. The team repeatedly made sure to let me know that they are more than willing to make themselves available should anything come up. My neighbors are already asking me for their contact info given the tremendous job that they did. Highly recommended. I guarantee you will find them very genuine and straight-forward.

Aluminum City created a nice privacy space and sun shade for a small area on the zero lot line side of our property. Red and his team constructed the perfect sized pergola to use as an extension of our living area and we love it! They responded to inquiries and showed up quickly and even gave us great recommendations for color and design. Additionally, the price was very reasonable for the value and look of the structure. Thank you for creating such a nice addition to our house - we are so happy to have found Aluminum City!

I had no idea that aluminum patios could look so good...

Bottom Line Up Front: Excellent product, excellent service, excellent price. 100% would do again. First off, I'm a major DIY'er. I can probably count on one hand the number of home or car projects I haven't done myself, to save money and ensure the quality I'm looking for. Secondly, when I do contract out for a home project or repair, I'm often left with the feeling that I overpaid for something I could (or should) have done myself. Aluminum City and its owner, Red, completely turned that experience upside down for me. My old patio roof was in disrepair, leaking and looking absolutely terrible. After some research I quickly found myself at the limits of my time and ability to do the type of job I wanted, so I started shopping around for contractors. Here are the highlights of my experience: Communication: Red was refreshingly responsive, answering and returning my calls quickly. It blows my mind how many businesses I can call - to literally throw money at them - with no reply for days or weeks, if at all (even pre-pandemic). Additionally, Red explained what my options were to let me decide, with absolutely no high-pressure upsell. A+ for Aluminum City. Cost: Red was one of the few who could provide what turned out to be a near perfect estimate over the phone. Many businesses are afraid to quote over the phone because a) they don't trust the customer to accurately describe what they're quoting, and b) they don't want said customer to walk off with a quote that could be taken to a competitor. Red's quote not only was the best in town, but his well-explained quote and options inspired confidence in his decades of experience. Schedule: COVID has obviously affected business in a slew of ways. For some, COVID obliterated customer demand, leaving businesses desperate for clients. For others, COVID overwhelmed businesses with so much demand that customers needing work done were often left with no one to help. Aluminum City showed an impressive ability to manage the unusual surges of both client demand and supply chain. Red scheduled and completed my project in an impressively timely manner, and actually completed my project ahead of schedule. Congrats to Aluminum City for being so proactive in project management in the midst of a pandemic. Safety: Speaking of the pandemic, Aluminum City exhibited care for the safety of both their employees and clients with professionalism. Red made sure his employees worked in safe conditions (one wrong slip with a sheet of aluminum could be a bad day), and respected County and State guidelines for masking in public. I appreciated the respect for safety at my house and for my family. Service: Red and his team were refreshingly friendly, professional, working to hit that magical goal of speed, quality, and cost. Red came out in person to confirm the project, and again on the day of the project. It's easy to tell when employees enjoy their job, and it was reflected Red and his team. After inspecting their work for several days after, I still see no signs of "shortcuts" or questionable workmanship anywhere. Product: Back to my first comments about being a DIY'er to save money and ensure quality - when I saw the finished product, I was floored. For the first time I can remember in dealing with contractors, I actually felt that Aluminum City over-delivered, and that I might have actually under-paid. This was the first time in contracting service where seeing the finished product made me completely forget about the cost. And Aluminum City's warranty blew away the competition, leaving me with absolutely no concern about initial or long term quality. 100%, would buy again if I needed to. 6 out of 5 starts for Red and Aluminum City. If you're looking for someone to do this type of project, look no further.

When you work with Red from Aluminum City, you get full on concierge, white glove service. He is the first person you interact with and the last person you talk to since he calls to follow up after the job is done. You have questions, he has answers. You have special problems, he has solutions. His team was prompt and professional. The install was done efficiently and clean. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I would highly recommend Aluminum City to friends, family, and strangers!

We are so happy our neighbor referred us to Red & Aluminum City. They were very responsive to our requests & the cover was done quickly & efficiently. They were very organized & they cleaned up . We will definitely refer them.

open slat patio cover by Aluminum City

It was a pleasure working with Red and Ed (co-owners) of Aluminum City. Red responded quickly to our inquiry about replacing our wooden patio cover. He assessed the situation and offered a high quality aluminum patio cover with open slats to replace the wooden structure. The quality of the aluminum was better than for our other estimates. The price was somewhat higher but we always choose the best quality materials for long-lasting costruction. Ed and his foreman arrived on time the appointed day for removal of the wooden structure. They helped us move the patio furniture out of the way and quickly removed the wooden structure, taking away all the material and cleaning up the patio of any debris. The next day they constructed a sturdy aluminum patio cover. Again, they cleaned up the site and helped us replace the patio furniture. The patio cover suits our house, simple but elegant. We highly recommend Aluminum City.

We put off a front patio cover for years because of budget and the time time it takes to get multiple quotes. We only needed one quote from Red to commit and get it done! He made room in his schedule to drive up the same day I called for an estimate because I was worried about him booking up for summer. His guys showed up on time and got our cover done in a single day! They cleaned up thoroughly and even brought a cardboard to put under their truck in case of oil leaks. These guys are experts because they only do patio covers, and they are damn good at it. Thanks guys!!!

However, there was a dent in the patio, which they tried to have repainted by their painter but it didn't work. After the paint not working, the lead installer, Justin, mentioned it would be tough to fix but the lead installer had some ideas and they would get back to me. More recently, I had some other contractors express concerns about the draining that was installed into a retaining wall, and as I am no builder/contractor/etc. I had no idea so I reached out to the Justin again, their call service, and more recently the owner, Rick, with no success. That was now almost 2 months ago, I've sent the Justin 3 texts, which are marked as read, with no response. I texted Rick and the only response I got was asking for my last name, but no response two texts later a few weeks later. I left a message with their call answer team or whatever and I have yet to actually get a call back from that. I've had a significant amount of contractors work on my house/property and I have never had one use a call answering service and never actually not been able to get a call back. I am torn on them because while they seem to do pretty good work and were responsive, once the job was done and we encountered an issue post-install they stopped responding to me for the most part. Now I feel like they are ghosting me, which I have also heard from a family member that I recommended to RKC, which is upsetting as I just wanted to ask a question and get something fixed.

Joe, the manager, and Rick design rep, Darrin construction manager, Andrea production coordinator, Dianna sales coordinator, and others that came to do the work on site, were all professional and a real blessing in getting my new patio cover designed and put together with the features I wanted. The crew that worked on site demonstrated much care and passion in the work they did. The crew took time to answer my questions and even made a video on my phone so I could remember how the wiring was done for my patio light and fan. This review concerns only my experience with Pacific Patio's bidding process. The proposal I received did not include any meaningful detail about the materials that would be used. When I asked specific questions--such as whether the support posts would be steel or aluminum--the salesperson refused to answer. Instead, he responded sarcastically, "Do you want me to tell you what kind of bolts we're going to use?" My answer is yes. The materials matter. The type of bolts, fasteners, posts, and other structural components affects the durability and safety of the finished product. Lower-quality hardware may perform differently under wind loads and over time, so it's reasonable for a customer to know what is being proposed. I repeatedly asked for a list of the materials that would be used, but the salesperson would not provide one. Without that information, I had no meaningful way to compare Pacific Patio's proposal with competing bids. Just as importantly, I would have had no clear basis for holding the contractor accountable if different materials were substituted during the project. The salesperson also became increasingly dismissive as I continued asking for this information. That lack of transparency and professionalism led me to award the project--worth approximately $100,000--to another contractor. I'm sharing this experience so that prospective customers know to ask for a detailed written description of the materials included in any proposal before making a decision.
