We used them for a patio cover that attached to the eaves and had footings in a planter. The process went pretty good, slight delay in installation but they installed timely. However, there was a dent in the patio, which they tried to have repainted by their painter but it didn't work. After the paint not working, the lead installer, Justin, mentioned it would be tough to fix but the lead installer had some ideas and they would get back to me. More recently, I had some other contractors express concerns about the draining that was installed into a retaining wall, and as I am no builder/contractor/etc. I had no idea so I reached out to the Justin again, their call service, and more recently the owner, Rick, with no success. That was now almost 2 months ago, I've sent the Justin 3 texts, which are marked as read, with no response. I texted Rick and the only response I got was asking for my last name, but no response two texts later a few weeks later. I left a message with their call answer team or whatever and I have yet to actually get a call back from that. I've had a significant amount of contractors work on my house/property and I have never had one use a call answering service and never actually not been able to get a call back. I am torn on them because while they seem to do pretty good work and were responsive, once the job was done and we encountered an issue post-install they stopped responding to me for the most part. Now I feel like they are ghosting me, which I have also heard from a family member that I recommended to RKC, which is upsetting as I just wanted to ask a question and get something fixed. read more

This complaint is based on extremely poor communication, rude interactions with the 2 owners, extremely poor customer service, incorrect material delivery, unreasonable time for project completion, and a constant demand for money from the workers during the building (prior to completion) of a custom patio cover. On February 19, 2026 Mr James A from RKC along with us, planned and designed a custom patio cover for our home, an aluminum patio cover that would be attached to the house, and supported by posts that would allow for a shade to be placed. We agreed to move forward with the plans. We were originally told by James who represented RKC that it would take 8-10 weeks for the completion of this project. Approximately 9 weeks after this contract was signed, we left messages to ask for the expected date but there is no communication from this company whatsoever, no calls were returned from the RKC answering service from the corp. office, nor from the designer, and the owners. The workers themselves told us that they do not get their calls returned as well, that was very common. When we finally received the call for them to return to start, the beams were too short but he proceeded to build the patio cover anyway. He was asked to discontinue and consult the designer who he could not get a hold of. He (the builder) asked repeatedly for more money from us in order to make the patio cover the correct size to finish the job and to pay him for the metal support that would allow a screen to be placed. The forman came out on another day to attempt to rectify the issues and we were told the correct size of the beam would be re ordered and "it would not take that long". After repeated attempts to call the forman, I was able to reach him, he stated that the builder will not come until we paid him, I didn't understand what he meant because the payment is for the company upon completion of the project. On June 5th, 2026 the builder returned but the beam that was ordered was the wrong color. On June 14, 2026 four months after the original completion date, the project was finally finished. I do not and would not ever recommend this company to anyone, it was a mistake to ever have been in business with them. read more

Everything is so beautiful and perfect. Great quality and my wife is so happy. Once the product was delivered it was finished in a few days. I recommend RKC. The RKC crew finished up our patio cover install today, and we'e super happy! From the beginning with Mike coming out to give us a quote, to keeping us up to date with status of build date, to the crew's amazing work and cleanup, they were great. There were issues with the aluminum getting delivered and Mike was apologetic the entire time, but kept me up to date. He even made the supplier reach out to me to apologize! RKC Construction is amazing! I had put out a request for quotes for a Patio Cover through Yelp and RKC's owner Rick was one of the first people to respond. Their salesperson Peter came out to look at the space and was extremely informative. He was also early and very kind, informative and most importantly straightforward. Many of the companies that i spoke to just tried to offer me the cheapest patio cover type (non-insulated) to win me on price but Peter explained that because the patio was near my bedroom that I might want to consider an insulated patio due to noise when it rains. He laid out all my options and let me make an informed decision. I appreciate that I didn't have to wait a couple days for a formal quote or anything like that. In addition, he was just a nice person all around offering advice on other projects I was working on in my yard. And most importantly, Peter was able to work with me on what I was looking to do/spend without trying to sell me something I didn't need. Class act! When it came to install, Rick the owner got me all scheduled and his team did a great job delivering the services agreed upon. A few days later, he followed up with me to see how I liked the project and this is where they earned all 5 stars in my book. I am extremely ocd and like symmetry, however due to the unique layout of my yard and the size of the panels, 6 lights could not be evenly spaced on 8 panels, which i did not realize originally. I had expressed my slight disappointment to Rick and instead of just letting me be disappointed on a Friday afternoon for a completely reasonable material limitation, he drove 45 min from his office directly to me to see the work and speak to me in person (ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON!). Rick was so nice and PATIENT and kind as he suggested potential solutions. Long story short, his team came out early on Monday and Thursday of that very next week, added additional lights and made everything look even better than I could have ever hoped for or envisioned! It's easy to say a company is good when things go smooth the first time. But you really get a sense of how great someone can be when things don't go exactly as you envision them and you can see how kind, smart, creative, patient and generous they are (or aren't). Note to self.... Don't do construction during a Pandemic ! I wont go into to many details but there were bumps in the road with several things like water seeping up through slab in California room BUT FIXED. It was a big deal that no one expected and Rick didn't play any games.. Had a guy completely dig out the trench around the room and seal it, it was a big hassle and I know RKC had to eat that one but they didn't play around. Many other minor issues with clean up (which is always an issue regardless of who) and it was taken care, NO HASSLES! I can go on and on with usual construction woes but Rick and Mike took care of it! It was a long and frustrating project but everyone did their part to make me a happy customer. Oh.. The 1 Star complaint by Brian L. I believe is a disgruntled employee who created a fake Yelp account since his complaint was identical to situations that came up to details at the identical time as my build BUT that RKC did everything to make me happy and I'm very picky! RKC Construction exceeded our expectations in every way! We chose RKC based on their price and professionalism and their willingness to design a custom solution to meet our needs. We had a 12' x 40' EliteWood insulated patio cover installed and added a Four Seasons sunroom wall with bi-parting doors and a 4' section with a door at the opposite end of the patio. The installation was done on time and with great attention to detail! Once our motorized screens are installed on the open face of the patio, we'll have year round use of our patio area. We hired Mata Electric to install 8 ceiling lights, 3 fans and 4 spotlights, as well as outlets for the motorized fans and the heaters that we plan to mount. All lights and fans are smart so we only have to ask Alexa to turn them on/off, change colors or intensity. This review is long over due. We worked with RKC in October of 2016 to tear down a 24 x 16 25 year old 6x, 10x and 4x wood patio with plastic corrugated roofing, and replace it with an aluminum 42 x 18.5 part solid, part lattice patio cover allowing us to go from an 8 foot ceiling to a 10 foot ceiling. We went with RKC product called ELITE WOOD. It is the best we could find on the market with the greatest thickness verses other also rans we interviewed. Other patio contractors wanted to come off of the roof fascia, which was where we were, allowing us no gain in height. RKC was the only contractor I could find that has a rooftop mounting bracket system, which allowed us to take the NEW 25 foot wide solid patio which is held in place with a C Channel and mega screws, up the exterior wall of a portion of our 2 story home, to 10 foot plus, pushing the NEW lighter weight, 17 foot wide latticed patio next to it, up on top of an adjacent single story roof top, where the roof mount brackets (2) were installed to hold the aluminum beam the lattice was cross mounted too. This gave us a seamless single 25 ft level solid cover, transitioning to the same level 17 ft latticed cover. It simply looks amazing. The lattice is so well done it slide right over the top of the side rail of the solid patio cover making it look as if it were one mega patio cover..............WHICH IT IS !!! We had the lattice mounted on its 3x side which allows for 70% shading, which now that we have had it for a while, to us, is optimum given our set up. I know this may be a tad confusing so browse the photos below. When we went into contract then, the delay from contract execution to ground breaking was 6 weeks, and at 6 weeks we were rolling.The tear down team was super clean and arrived on time and executed within the previously claimed allotted time frame. We were off to a great start. The construction team showed up a day or so later, and within three to four days we were up and ready to enjoy. The guys were easy to work with. They were super clean, neat and very professional. I worked along side them some of the time on small complimentary projects that went hand in hand with their work, like inlaying 4x4 tiles where the 4x4 posts of my old patio cover had been cut off at the existing surrounding tile grade. Working in the middle of them was easy and they were all super professional guys. I would have a question here or there and they were quick to provide insight and answer for me on specific aspects of their installation. I was painting stuff, prepping for some stone work to elevate the stone surround on an exterior fireplace, now that I had 2 more feet of it exposed with the ten foot ceiling, we were enabled with RCK. The guys were cool to be around. The solid patio is insulated and provides cooling relief underneath and is so sturdy you can walk on it topside, which came in handy for the electrical install. The underside of the solid patio looks like wood in texture, though it be painted aluminum. RKC referred us to several qualified electricians, so that we could time their arrival against RKC's completion and have a seamless transition between contractors. The day after RKC was done the electrician was on the site. We went with chandeliers and a BIG ASS Fan. Look for it in the photos. It turned out awesome. Being able to go up to 10 feet made a huge difference in how the patio, looks, feels and operates. The Roman Columns give it a resort look and feel and after going BIG ASS Fan in the patio I ended up putting one in our bedroom too. They are incredible air movers. If I had a chance to do it again I would hire Rick Crawford and his team at RKC. I referred them to my brother in law in Santee and my son in laws brother in El Cajon. If I am referring family with confidence, you can trust my reference for RKC here. The team did good and we are loving our new set up.
