Coming from the 626, I had no expectations for how good boba would be in Hawaii, but me and my bf were both curious to try just one boba place before we went back home. We decided to come check out this place out and was pleasantly surprised! We shared a roasted oolong milk tea with brown sugar boba. The boba was really soft and chewy and just the right amount of sweetness. The oolong was also solid too, a good amount of tea with milk balance. Okay I've been here more times than I'd like to admit in the past few weeks hahaha BUT I have a good excuse - they're offering BOGO $1 until 4/20/21! The BOGO is only applicable to a medium sized milk or iced tea, but that's still a super good deal to me! Here's a few more drinks I tried this time around: Brown Sugar Boba Latte - LOVE this. absolutely love it. It's a milky drink with soft chewy boba, brown sugar walls, and the best part - the bruleed milk cap! Avocado Smoothie - probably my least favorite of the ones I've tried, but I'm super glad I finally gave this interesting flavor a shot! I always contemplate getting this flavor no matter which boba shop I go to, and I finally convinced myself to get it. This one was just a straight up thick, creamy, hella avocado-y drink. It's not super sweet either, so if you're an avocado fan you will LOVE it. I unfortunately wasn't the biggest fan, but it definitely wasn't bad by any means. Avocado Rice Yogurt - They blend the avocado into the yogurt (unlike the mango and blueberry ones that are at the bottom), but it doesn't taste super strong of avocado, but instead just adds more creaminess to the drink. Kumquat Lemon Tea - super duper refreshing and a little bit tart. I usually don't like fruit teas but I wouldn't mind getting this one next time. Roasted Oolong Milk Tea - WOAH. probably one of my new favorite milk teas here. The oolong tea is so strong (but not overpowering) and has a beautiful roasted nutty complexion to it that elevates it to the next level. First time trying this place. Very nice and convenient location with a good amount of parking. My sister is a milk tea fanatic and wanted to go here to try their tea. She's very picky with her milk tea too, but she enjoyed their brown sugar milk tea. I got the matcha smoothie as suggested by the girl. My second time to Lunar tea and still lots more of their menu to explore. Located off king street at the former "sweet home cafe". Parking is limited but I always manage to get parking now. If not street parking is also available nearby. There is currently no seating as orders are to-go only but I can never seem to know what to choose. Some of these drinks I never seen anywhere else on island like malt milk tea or milk tea trio. So far I have tried their Iced Thai tea and the matcha smoothie. The matcha is on the milder side with a more subtle taste for those who only want a hint of matcha. The Thai tea was also more mild than those at Thai restaurants but I'm still able to taste the tea flavor which I love. It is super refreshing with a flowery aroma and with the hot, fresh boba, which is great on a chill windy night. Not too sweet, but you can change the sweetness. If you're looking for something refreshing to beat the heat, seek this place out! We discovered them about a month ago and now head over at least once a week. Their drinks are seriously addicting! Whatever tea or smoothie I order, I add the brown sugar boba and Azuki bean as toppings. I love that these two toppings are served warm. The boba has been perfectly cooked (gluten-free) each time. The mango boba tastes like gummy bears. Just saying. The honeydew smoothie tastes like Melona. The kumquat tea is surprisingly delicious. The avocado smoothie is quite filling but not refreshing--still delicious though. The mango rice yogurt is drool worthy. The taro smoothie is yummy but not made of fresh taro. More teas and smoothies but these are the notable ones. Not a fan of the cheese caps. As far as Covid goes, these guys are clean and sanitary. All the employees wear masks but not gloves. Bring something to touch the screen with because it's not wiped down between customers. Limited seating available. Super minimalistic shop. Very clean. Like spotlessly clean. Go now! I've tried a few things here, but there's honestly so many boba places in the area that it's getting a bit difficult to sort out. Because of parking and proximity to other restaurants, this shop may be one of the most convenient, hence why I've come here three times in the past month, but my beloved shaka shaka only once. Their crystal boba is good and a refreshingly jello/kanten-like alternative to the chewy regular tapioca boba found elsewhere. I've also enjoyed their avocado rice drink and the hong kong milk tea, not as strong as what you can find in Chinatown cultural plaza, but still a nice jolt of caffeine. The drinks always come out very fast and the interior is very stylish, with those moon lamps you see on wish.com and giant dice-shaped chairs. First off, after reviewing some other reviews, the yogurt drink is using greek yogurt. For me, I absolutely can't stand greek yogurt. I was wondering why the drink tasted so weird. I took a total of 2 sips before throwing it away (unfortunately). There really needs to be a sign to show that the drink uses greek yogurt... Milk tea cap was a very bland, no flavor drink. It was with half sugar, but it wasn't sweet, no taste tea taste at all. Drank about half before tossing. Me personally, won't be coming back in the future. Lunar tea ramped up my drink addiction again. I'm a fan of fruity and citrus drinks so when I saw they had a passion fruit lemonade I had to come try it. As soon as I saw they had the yogurt drink, I had to give it a try. I absolutely loved Cowcow's Tea yogurt rice drinks and had to compare. Lunar Tea is located where Sweet Home Cafe used to be. There's a decent amount of parking outside which is rare for most tea places but the fact that it's on South King Street can make it a little more troublesome to get to with the one way roads. The staff seemed friendly, the shop looked neat, and they had various snacks you could buy as well. I got the purple rice drink and regular milk tea with brown sugar boba. The purple rice drink was good because it had a prominent sweet potato taste but the rice itself, was not a texture I cared for too much. It reminded me of slightly over cooked wild rice. On this note, I would say that Cowcow's Tea rice had a better texture. If you're a big fan of sweet potato though, Lunar Tea's drink had more of a pronounced sweet potato flavor. For their regular milk tea, it was not bad but their boba texture was a little undercooked. If I do come back I would stick to their yogurt rice drinks. I was super excited to try this boba shop! I have seen so many people posting about it so I had to see for myself. I decided to try something new and get their peach tea milk cap with mango crystal boba. My friend ordered their purple rice yogurt. I think I made the mistake of ordering my drink "less sweet" by accident. I didn't realize that they just had three different options: less, regular, and extra. When the girl in the front asked me for my sweetness level, I said 75% and she took it as less sweet. I thought it would be just a little less sweet than usual but when I got it, I could definitely tell it was unsweetened. Thankfully, the mango boba made up for it a little bit. I also really enjoyed the milk cap, very creamy and delicious! We went during the early afternoon on a weekday so I easily found a parking right in front. However, there are many other restaurants in the area so depending on the day it may be a little tricky to find parking. Another thing I liked about this place is that they offer stamp cards. After your tenth drink, you get one free. I did notice that my drink took a little longer than I expected, considering it was just the two of us inside with three people working. New milk tea place? I'm a simple woman, I see new milk tea place, I go. They replaced Sweet Home Cafe. There is a lot of parking lot space, but since it is around some restaurants, parking might be a bit tricky. I saw that they had some purple rice yogurt drinks just like Cow Cow's. I usually get the Mango Rice Yogurt drink from Cow Cow's, so why not try out theirs? I also added their Crystal boba (Agar boba). I was told that since I am getting a topping it would be a large. That's fine more drink yay. It wasn't busy at all, so I got my drink pretty fast. From appearance, texture seems thick and nice, but not much mango on the bottom, with some Crystal Boba. When I took my first sip, the flavor of the drink itself, took me by surprise because it was a very unique flavor. Due to the fact that there wasn't much mango, it just tasted like a plain yogurt drink to me. I got used to the drink as I kept sipping but it was very disappointing to how I paid almost $7 for a drink that tasted like a plain yogurt drink. Friend opted for their Roasted Oolong Milk Tea with Brown Sugar Agar Boba. Her opinion on it, was that the drink itself didn't have the nutty flavor of other Roasted Oolong Milk Teas she usually gets. It just tasted like a dull Oolong flavor, nothing special. Brown Sugar Agar Boba was nice tho. Prices are pretty reasonable in my opinion, but maybe I'll try out their Purple Rice Yogurt drink since that one seems to be very popular. Lunar Tea is such a cute little boba shop! The cashiers are super nice and helpful. I would've given them a five star review, but the only thing I didn't really like was the brown sugar boba itself. At other boba places, their tapioca balls are chewy and soft (it's just what I prefer). At lunar tea, it's kind of hard yet chewy if that makes sense. I love their blended drinks, especially the avocado smoothie. I totally recommend it. Their Banana Berry smoothie is decent. When I tried it, it reminded me of banana bread -- it was an interesting flavor in my opinion. Overall though, this place is awesome. I got their Regular Roasted oolong milk tea with brown sugar regular boba($4.25+ .75+tax) which is highly recommended according to their employee. But not surprise at all, oolong taste not as strong as it suppose to be, taste like water down drink with unmelted pieces, not a pleasant feeling in my mouth, powder? Quality below average. Don't recommend this drink. The next couple day I tried another new boba shop at the same area- rabbit rabbit tea, their Buddha oolong milk tea taste way better. Second promotion time I decided to give it another chance by trying something new, ordered purple rice yogurt with taro wall ($5.75+ tax) which initiated me post this feedback, I like yogurt and yogurt drinks, but this yogurt drink taste weird, strange taste, can't taste any yogurt at all, indeed you can taste light cheese and coffee in it with some artificial ropy milky fixture. Not sure what it is! Let my little brother try, he doesn't like neither. Definitely not worth my money. Didn't enjoy my drinks given that I've seen so many good pictures on IG post. They have plenty of space to stay 6 feet away from each other and marked spots that people can wait in line. Went to lunar tea on a Thursday night because it was one of the few places open after 7pm (they open until 9 pm!). I've been wanting to try this place for a while, and had it bookmarked too, so I was super excited to finally go! I got the "less sweet" pineapple passion fruit tea with boba and my boyfriend got regular sweet winter melon milk tea with half boba. Both drinks were really good and the consistency of the boba was perfect! For me, I prioritize boba over tea, so it's super important for the boba not to be mushy! Even though I requested less sweet, my bf's regular sweet milk tea tasted less sweet, so I think the sweetness level depends on the type of tea you order!
