Had lunch on a Saturday. Surprisingly it wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. We had a nice table overlooking the bay and boats. Great location, but the food is average. We had a party of 6 so got to try a lot of different things. The ratatouille appetizer was disappointing (special that week). It was a small little mound of veggies that were smushy. Best shared by only 2 people. Wish the waiter would have told us it was small and we might need to order more or choose something else. Calamari was good. Vongole and bolognese were the best dishes we had, but again not comparable to other Italian places I've been to esp at that price point ... starting at $25 for the most basic pasta dishes. A cobonara set you back $31! Drinks were good. We tried several from Bloody Mary to Champagne with St. Germaine. Service was fine. Attentive but not intrusive. I think it's meant to be relaxing so if you're in a rush, prob not the place to go. FYI - They charge for bread and hot water. All and all, solid 3 stars. read more

We hadn't visited Luna Blu in some time, so we decided the Tiburon Waterfront would be a great way to spend a day-early Valentine's Day. We were the first ones seated when the restaurant opened at 11:30 AM on Saturday, so it was delightful to get an absolutely killer table by the water. Of course, with all outdoor seating on their deck, there are no bad tables or views - we just happened to get a prime space with close views of the harbor, Sam's Anchor Cafe's dock (another must-visit, particularly for visitors to the area), Golden Gate Bridge, and San Francisco. We also lucked out that a windy day was protected by adjacent buildings, so we were quite warm, even in mid-February. The meal also turned out to be spectacular, with flawless service from the professional and super-friendly Kimberly. We shared the crab bisque, which set a precedent for what was to follow; the melding of all the flavors meant none stuck out too much, and the overall experience was ethereal. Some bisques are a little too heavy or salty - this one was balanced in every way. My wife was leaning towards the béchamel-sauced lasagna, made even more appealing in the menu my the additional of pistachio and pancetta. But she decided for a slightly lighter touch (!) and went with the Bolognese, perfect in every way, with the beef/veal combination reminiscent of her growing up in a Northern Italian family. Not one to generally repeat a key appetizer ingredient in my entree, I nevertheless decided on the Tagliolini al granchio (beet-infused tagliolini pasta with crab in a champagne cream sauce). Again, Luna Blu impressed me with the ability to offer a rich dish that didn't overwhelm me with salt or being too heavy; the crab was generously distributed among the sauce and the pasta, and was absolutely delicious, and faintly redolent of the ocean that lay before us. I regret we didn't order dessert, but rather opted for a walk after down the waterfront. We didn't drink either, so I can't tell you about cocktails. But we'll save both for a dinner sometime! To sum, Luna Blu is an absolutely perfect destination spot, serving gourmet Italian with a super-sized heart, so perfect for Valentine's Day. If you happen to be on Main Street and are looking for great food, you're in a super spot with some unique local options. But we highly recommend Luna Blu - you'll likely leave full, with a warm feeling, and you also can't beat the setting. Five stars, hands down! read more

She was very gracious though, and was keeping us updated for those 10 minutes, so we appreciated that at least. The view is STUNNING. And we were seated at golden hour, so it truly was a beautiful view. There's also heaters outside which is really nice. Fairly small menu. I ordered a classic Manhattan and my boyfriend ordered the basil & gin cocktail (can't remember what it was called on the menu) and both were great. We ordered the calamari appetizer along with two rolls. Calamari was delicious! I ordered the Cioppino with the brussel sprouts as my side and my boyfriend had the filet mignon with fries. I actually wasn't too impressed with the Cioppino. It was kind of disappointing. The seafood didn't taste fresh. There's a lot to compete with when you have a lot of great cioppino in San Francisco/ Bay Area, and this one just wasn't that great. My boyfriend enjoyed his steak. It's more expensive than wine! The server with an Italian accent offered us bread after we have ordered two appetizers and the full meals which include several pastas. We thought the bread was included like many other Italian restaurants do but we ended up getting charged for 6 rolls for $4.50! I see an item of fire at the end of the bill which likely means we could have been charged for the heater if we have asked for it. So absurd! All I can say is WOW! While staying in the area I had the pleasure of meeting Renzo who invited me and my girlfriend to come to his family restaurant and it was incredible. The ambiance is casual, cozy with beautiful decor inside as well as an outdoor seating area. While being out there the weather wasn't the best BUT ended up seating out right next to the water with heat lamps and the area sheltered from the weather, they even provide blankets. From there the food was to die for and service so friendly they make you feel like family. Bisque was light and flavorful, burrata was warm and had a good portion of cheese, filet was delicious and loved and creamy sauce, and cioppino had lots of seafood and was really easy to get out of shells so it wasn't totally messy. Overall the dishes were good. The portion size are not quite big which is okay but the appetizers are priced quite high. The appetizers and desserts seem typical price and portion wise. I liked the tomato base in both the pastas I tried. It was mild and fresh and not concentrated like canned tomatoes.....The gnocchi was just right in its texture and taste. Both raviolis tasted amazing. The ciabatta bread was warm but did have a layer of slightly wet dough. Desserts wise mocha tiramisu tasted good but tiramisu wise...i think i like the classic tiramisu which is lighter. I liked the mousse too. Although we're in this pandemic and battling the wild fire, I'm glad to have been able to eat at this lovely restaurant. We made reservations on a Sunday for lunch at noon. The restaurant was on the street with tons of stores nearby for you to enjoy a weekend out. We arrived promptly at noon and our host took us to our seats. We were sitting outside and it was a bit chilly but luckily there was a heater right by our table so we turned it on quickly. We sat on the backside of restaurant by the nice view of the ocean. I was really blown away by the view. Our waitress welcomed us to the restaurant and brought some water. We looked through the menu and few minutes after, we were ready to order. (WE WERE HELLLLA HUNGRY!!) Appetizers/Drink: - Calamari & Zucchine: Honestly, you can never go wrong with ordering calamari as an appetizer. The calamari was crispy and delicious. It went very well with the spicy marinara sauce that came with it. It tingles in your mouth but mouth watering and delicious. - Carpaccio Di Manzo: This one was another yum. The carpaccio comes with 4 slices of raw beef and 2 slices of bread. It was cut thinly and it went very well with the bread and the arugula salad. It was light and refreshing. - Tartare De Tonno: Another popular appetizer for this restaurant. The ahi tuna was superb! It came with homemade taro chips as well and it was just SO GOOD!! The tartare tasted fresh with the avocado, sesame seeds, ginger, parsley and capers! All those seasoning was mouthwatering good is what I can say. - Luna Blu Passion: It was super fruity and delicious. It has my favorite Bols Blue Curacao and lychee all in one drink! This is definitely a girl's drink so if you're into fruity drinks, I'd recommend it. Main: - Cioppino: Fresh seafood with light tomato garlic broth was just too good!! It had salmon, monkfish, clams, mussels, squid, and giant ass shrimps!! Everything mixed together=greatness. This is one of their most popular dishes and I highly recommend it. It has the right amount flavor and if no one was around, I'd lick that plate right off every last bit of that goodness. - Linguine Alle Vongole: Another one of my favorite dishes. It's a simple dish but made with lots of deliciousness. It's a bit similar to the Cioppino's because it does have a lot of seafood in this dish as well. The linguine was cooked to perfection. - Filetto Al Gorgonzola: Pretty small portion of the filet but it was oozing with deliciousness from every bite. I wish I could eat more of this right now. The meat was super soft and tender that it melts in your mouth. The Dolce Latte cream sauce went well with the filet mignon and each bite of that meat was to die for. Dessert: Although I didn't order any desserts, the restaurant surprised me with a cannoli to finish off my birthday lunch. Much love to Luna Blue! To be honest, I never into cannolis because I always thought it was super sweet but Luna Blue knows how to make theirs for sure. The chocolate/vanilla wasn't super sweet and it was perfect. The chocolate chips were also yummy! Overall, I definitely enjoyed my whole birthday lunch here at Luna Blue even through the smoke that we have to endure, it was nonetheless a spectacular experience with great service and great food!! Made reservations here on whim while staying in Sausalito for the weekend. I really liked the food, it tasted like real authentic pasta, which you don't always get. Calamari-great, I really didn't need it to be combined with zucchini though..like whyyyyyyy would they do this? Carpaccio hubby ordered he loved, some of the best he's had. I got the pasta (dyed by beets) with crab and a creamy White sauce. It was so delicious! Not light , it got me full but that's what I wanted. I did have to get past the color to enjoy this though. Hubby got the pistachio lasagne which he loved , he liked the unexpected flavors yet it still tasted comforting. All in all was enjoyable experience. Nothing I didn't dislike. Our family has enjoyed Luna Blu in the past but things have changed for the worst. Our early reservation for four people was honored.. The beautiful location on the deck in Tiburon was all that a diner could hope for. The deck was about 3/4 full at 5:30 and few diners were served yet. We saw waiters talking to other tables and patiently waited for someone to ask for the order . After 25 minutes of waiting one of us, who has eaten there for years, went to ask for a waiter. Nothing. Finally we left went to Sam's next door, had great service, albeit simpler menu than Luna Blu.. but such pleasant service. The owners of Luna Blu are no longer in evidence.. The person supposedly in charge does nothing and oversees nothing --We sat there waiting for a person to notice us... after half an hour we left. The hostess does no more than seat people, but assigns no waiter , puts menus on the table and walks away. The menu is glorious but the quality of a restaurant depends on someone being responsible to insure patrons are at least approached within moments.. even an acknowledgement from a waiter would have been a sign that they cared about the diners. Let's hope the owners step back in and review the attitude and training.. and get rid of the unprofessional staff. Long time employees have let them down.. This isn't because if being short staffed.. This is just bad. We probably won't be back. read more

Hands down the absolute best Sicilian food I have had for decades. Reminded me of eating in Sicily when I was younger. We ordered their Caesar Salad, Calamari - out of this world sauce, lightly breaded not overly cooked or oily, bolognese - perfectly balanced meat/sauce over homemade pasta noodles, Cioppino - very fresh not overly seasoned broth with plenty of seafood (had to ask for extra bread to wipe the bowl clean) & a side of some of the best green beans (cooked yet crunchy, with subtle seasoning and crispy garlic - lightly oiled). Every plate was sent back polished off as if it had gone through the dishwasher of our palates. Our overall experience from hostess to server and the entire meal were absolutely fantastic! My friend and I took a trip out to Tiburon, and ended up eating lunch at Luna Blu. It's located in the lovely downtown area, so there is plenty of shops and lovely waterside views to walk around. There is also ample parking if you're willing to walk a few blocks. My friend and I got there during 1sh and got seated right away. Both the inside and outside space isn't too large, but it is nice and cozy. On a nice day, the outside space is amazing. Thankfully the weather was nice so my friend and I got to sit outside near the waterside..amazing view to our meal :) The owners are from Italy, so their menu is catered towards the Italian style, which I love. Reminded me of Italy looking at how the menu was split by antipasta, I Primi, and I Secondi. In Italy, the I Primi is a pasta dish, and the I Secondi is the meat dish. Our server was friendly and helpful in recommending dishes. We split the Cesare salad, the calamari, and the Cioppino. The salad and calamari was good..the calamari could have been slightly more tender though. The cioppino was quite yummy. It was made of fresh salmon cut up, monkfish, clams, mussels, calamari, and prawns in a light tomato garlic broth. The broth was delicious, and there was a plentiful amount of seafood. Bellini was perfect. Even my guy loved it so much he drank half and wanted me to order another. I love calimari and even tho people have mentioned there isn't much given it is $15, I ordered it anyways. The calimari is good. However the sauce container with the slanted top was a poor choice cause it's hard to dip and close to half the time, you'll lose your fish to the sauce. The verdict- it's good but not enough to be charged $15...maybe they use high grade calimari to justify the price? The steak was delicious, but he had asked for it medium rare, and it was brought out to us medium well. He isn't the type of waste so he ate it anyways. I had the risotto with chicken. Terrible choice. Chicken was dry chunks. The risotto was heavenly creamy and the cheese they used was strong it engulfed the entire palette. I was not a fan. The server didn't ask how our dishes were, but I'm not sure we would've said anything anyways. Called a week ahead to confirm reservation on the deck with a beautiful view. Otherwise inside is a skinny layout where you can watch the kitchen prepare the dishes. I do not recommend the cream puffs with vanilla ice cream and chocolate drizzle since the cream puff shell is super dry and stiff. We picked at it and mainly ate the ice cream. Our server was a huge mumbler. It was hard to understand. 2-3 words would come out squished together. You can only ask someone to repeat something maybe 1-2 times before making them or yourself feel bad. Yes he had an accent and no I'm not trying to humiliate him in anyway; I'm just telling you he mumbles. I do not recommend the dishes we got aside from the steak and Bellini. This place has a lot going for it and overall we had such a great time! We came for my fiancé's birthday as we traveled down the coast and the wine and the food did not disappoint! We had two bottle's of the Hess Cabernet and it was delicious. Everyone really enjoyed the pasta and and the filet mignon as well. The biggest downfall for me was that at night if it's cold they roll down the plastic shield on the patio, which makes it impossible to see the view of the harbor which is a major reason we went.
