We enjoy dining out but $150+ for lunch for 3 people is a little outrageous. We stayed at the hotel next door and walked by. I saw the great reviews so my wife and I thought we'd give it a shot. We didn't have reservations but we they were able to seat us out on the back deck on the water facing the bay. Stunning!! The hostess was friendly and our server Eli was really great. This establishment is racist!!! If you're a person of color you will not be treated well here. We came as a large group and had to book 2 separate tables. They got really upset at us when we asked to merge tables (and we asked nicely as well). The owner would stop by other tables and ask how the food was, greet, and walk others out but would blatantly ignore our tables. The thing is if the owners were bad but the food was good I could write a better review. But the food was not good at all, especially for the price. The calamari was rubbery and the burrata bread was dry. My pasta was pretty decent, the texture was good (had that fresh pasta texture). However I had several crab shell pieces in my sauce....not sure if they got upset we asked to merge our tables and served us bad food but I was pretty surprised that the food wasn't great given that most of the reviews were raving. I did like the st Germaine cocktail, they didn't skimp on the alcohol amount. I would never recommend this place to any or go back. read more

Picturesque spot in a little marina. Our group chose outdoor seating and as the sun went down were given the cutest little fleece blankets to help take off the chill. All of our dishes were just delicious with absolutely no leftovers to speak of. We would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a cute little town outside of SFO with great food and service. read more

Despite living in the Bay Area, we don't make our way out to the north bay all that much but did a staycation of sorts in Marin this holiday weekend. We last-minute looked for a place to have dinner in either Sausalito or Tiburon and we are so glad we settled on Luna Blu! For starters we had Caesar salad and the bisque-- both excellent (although the salad could have used less dressing). I had the branzino and he had the cioppino as our entrees and another resounding vote of excellence! The fish was wonderfully not overcooked (as so many do with branzino) and the cioppino was stuffed full with clams, mussels, shrimp and 2 types of fish! We also had the Brussels sprouts which included the perfect amount of lardon for flavor. Service was pleasant with folks who seem to enjoy working there. With the beautiful outdoor water view what more could you want? You will not regret dining here! read more

OK, I usually don't leave reviews, but since this has become our favorite restaurant, I feel compelled. We just happened upon this restaurant last year when we were in Tiburon and come to find out my fiancé had met the owner, Renzo, through a relative of his when he worked in San Francisco for Pinocchio's. We have been there several times since and let me just say that every single thing we have tried and eaten has been amazing... including the cocktails. Not to mention the venue..the ambience, the water view is just as amazing as the food. The staff is amazing and attentive, and having met Renzo and his lovely wife Crystal, of course...they are amazing as well. As tourists, after having a wonderful day exploring the city, my friends and I decided to have dinner at Luna Blu Restaurant. However, when the waiter came to our table, he acted in a racist manner. Later, a different waiter started serving our table. We ordered a bottle of wine, and when they brought a tasting sample, there were dust particles in the glass, and it seemed like the bottle had already been opened. They then brought a new bottle. The food was delicious, but this experience turned our lovely day into a nightmare during dinner. As soon as we finished our meal, we left the restaurant. read more

It wasn't great but it wasn't bad. The bread basket was not free; they charged $0.75 for each piece. The french fries were tasty. Caesar Salad was fine. I don't think you can go wrong with any of their pasta dishes although I wouldn't consider it "authentic". I ordered the Linguini Allie Vongol - it was ok; slightly bland. If you're looking for something more savory, the Mare Monte is the best choice. They are also known for their Cioppino dish. I'd stay away from their sandwiches. The portobello mushroom panini was not impressive at all. It was dry and filled with more lettuce than portobello. So disappointing. For dessert, we ordered their tiramisu - it tasted like it was from Costco. You're better off with affogato. If I'm ever back in this area, Sam's is the better choice and their patio view is amazing. read more

Came this past Saturday evening for a birthday celebration! The venue is lovely; quite cozy on the inside. We were a large group, so we were seated outdoors on the deck where there is an amazing view overlooking the bay. They have plenty of heating out there, so although it was nighttime, I was very comfortable without a jacket. The host was extremely friendly and very attentive. Our waiter handled our large group well. And the Chef came out to greet us which was a pleasant surprise. :) I ordered: - Calamari & Zucchine: Unfortunately, this was disappointing. It was fried well but lacked seasoning. The spicy marinara sauce wasn't spicy and did little to add flavor to the calamari and zucchini. - Mediterrane Salad: This was delicious. Arugula is one of my favorite greens. The Italian dressing was very tasty, and the hearts of palm mixed with sweetcorn were a perfect bite. - Crab Bisque: Another winner. Crab forward with a rich and flavorful puree. I basically drank it out of the bowl. - Burrata Al Tartufo: My favorite dish of the night! The bread was perfectly toasted, the burrata was soft and buttery, and the truffle cream was truly a cherry on top - pungent and umami. I devoured this. - Branzino Al Limone: I'm obsessed with branzino, but this one made me sad. I expected a crispy skin and light, flaky fish. What I received was soggy skin and mushy fish. The lemon sauce was the saving grace. - Mocha Tiramisu: I'm generally anti dessert because I don't enjoy overly sweet things, but this might be the best tiramisu I've had. The espresso, mascarpone and semi-sweet chocolate were very well balanced. I thought I'd have one bite and be done, but I ate half without even realizing it. Scenic outdoor seating with shade, several interesting items on the menu which all sounded delicious, a full cocktail and wine list, topped with good service. We started with the meatballs as an appetizer and they were great. I ordered the Cioppino which was full of seafood and tasted pretty good. My husband ordered the steak which was cooked perfectly, tender, and covered with cheese sauce. The only thing I would recommend is to go easy on the cheese sauce. We had dinner on their patio deck overlooking the marina for my boyfriend's birthday. I appreciated that the woman at the door checking us in acknowledged my note that we were celebrating a birthday. We went with our waiter's recommendations and ordered their calamari & zucchini, cioppino (w/ a side of roasted brussels sprouts) and tagliolini al granchio. All were fantastic recommendations and we enjoyed each one to the last bite. My favorite had to be the tagliolini al granchio which was a beet-infused pasta served with dungeness crab in this champagne cream sauce. It was rich, so creamy, and had generous portions of crab on top. It tastes a lot better than it looks! We couldn't have come on a more perfect day/time. We were able to catch the beautiful sunset during dinner. The weather was warm and there were outdoor heaters to provide us with warmth in case it got cold. We called and said there's not much people so we could just walk in, when we get there the lady age around 40's wearing red earrings, stated that there's no table the only available was the table literally outside the curb. The she looks at us was so belittling! We're in the marin area for investment deal we have not eaten the entire day 430 was our first meal i was so excited driving to luna blu due to the 4 stars score and the view of the water, i am also excited about my white wine. i have never ever experienced treating like a dog and place us outside the restaurant at curb (the worst). We walked out! I don't think they deserved clients like us. We instead went to Sam's, had a great time due to sunlight/patio area, i had my oysters, cocktails, sancre, white wine, rissoto, cioppino, lobster roll, calamari, crab cake, maitai, martini, new yor steak. We had a great time with our server & people/family beside us as was also super friendly. Universe will take you out of situation that's not good for you. I couldn't help but feel that the waiter for our table was racist. Upon handing us the menu, it took 30 mins for him to come back. We didn't get our food until 45 mins later. The thing that stood out to me is dessert. When we ordered dessert, we also asked for water. The waiter did not come back for another 30 mins. We were ready to walk out, cancel dessert and pay upfront but then the waiter comes. Does it really take that long to come back with dessert and water? During this 2 hour lunch in this summer heat, I only had 2 glass of water. Yikes. Meanwhile, I saw him all the time serving other guests. Tiburon is predominantly white enough as it is, this experience doesn't help. I wouldn't visit this area again, such an unwelcoming place. Feels like the Midwest around here. read more

Went to Luna Blu a couple of evernings ago. We decided to turn the menu into a "tasting menu" by choosing something from EVERY category on the menu and then sharing. Kind of like "small plates" in Spain. There what we ordered along with a couple of glasses of wine each. Our server, Antonio, was a first time for us. He was great at making this crazy idea come to fruition! It's inconsistent. Arugula salad starters ($16) had greens without much flavor and were starting to yellow, wilty. It's on me for not sending them back, I should have, but Didn't want to disrupt spouses dinner, then turns out she didn't like it either. The Entrées were better, pasta with Manila clams ($31) , and Bronzino ($37) Hard to explain, it's a lot easier to make a decent , very basic salad than to make these entrées. My fiancé and I had a front water view table for my birthday weekend. It was totally BEAUTIFUL! Staff, waiters, and servers were great. Server was really helpful with wine choices and menu options. The calamari was cooked perfectly and hade a unique kick to it! Our main dishes were 3 out of 4 stars, the view and services is what made it a 4. The food lacked flavor in both of our opinions. The Linguine Alle Vongole needed some extra flavor so I added some Parmesan cheese to it and it elevated the dish, very light flavor I wanted a bit more to the dish. The clams were cooked perfectly though. The Salmone Piccata was tender and juicy. Though it was cooked extremely well and the presentation was amazing, I personally wasn't a fan of the flavor. It lacked something and the whole dish I wished I brought my travel Sriracha. I also ordered brussel sprouts with bacon. The bacon tasted delicious as bacon does but the sprouts had zero flavor. read more

I got there right when the town was celebrating Friday family fun time. Main Street was quite busy. The restaurant seemed a bit small. However the staff was quite charming. I enjoyed the bruschetta, calamari, and roasted chicken. I had plenty left over as the roasted chicken was a healthy portion. Of course my favorite is dessert. The tiramisu was so gooood! They had a perfect combination of coffee and chocolate flavors. I did indulge in a cappuccino which was such foamy yummy goodness. Highly recommend this restaurant. Came here for a special birthday dinner and Courtney was so sweet and accommodating to my special requests. I really appreciated the incredible service and the beautiful views of their outdoor deck. It's a lovely experience especially at night! Great place for date night and even just dessert. We ordered the Fried Calamari, Cioppino, and Profiteroles for dessert. My favorite were the Profiteroles! They are to die for! They had such a great light texture with a delicious chocolate veil filled with a yummy flavorful ice cream, I believe. It tasted like a vanilla bean ice cream or cream and we couldn't get enough of it! The first stop for lunch for our Labor Day weekend staycation was Luna Blu, located in downtown Tiburon near the end of Main St, right before the hourly parking lot. The restaurant is pretty small, with booth seating inside and several patio tables outside overlooking the harbor. Excellent view on a sunny day! The restaurant is first and foremost Italian cuisine, with a few good seafood specials. We had great service and overall the food was excellent with a few minor flaws. 3.5-stars but rounding up to 5. APPS: * The Caponata is a great dish of eggplants, olives, and tomato made into a square patty that will give a pleasant sweet-sour taste to waken the taste buds. It had these two grilled breads with ridges that provided nice texture and additional surface area to slather on that caponata. *Tartare di Tonno had these huge taro chips where you pile on ahi tuna, fennel, and fresh avocado. I was initially hesitant since the ahi had a grayish color but it smelled fine and tasted fine! You cannot always trust red ahi tuna as a sign of freshness - often times the red is from carbon monoxide used in the ahi if its imported outside North America. Brownish or grayish ahi is fine if it smells OK! MAINS: * I got the Tagliotini Al Granchio, which are perfectly al dente red beet(!?) pasta with a generous, creamy serving of minced Dungeness Crab meat. Super rich and flavorful. I overlooked a few small pieces of shell or cartilage - its a sign of freshness but do chew carefully. * Wife got their Cioppino, a generous stew of salmon AND monkish, clams, mussels, squid, and shrimp. I tried some of the broth and it was excellent - watery, tomatoey, and garlicky. You still taste some of the seafood in the broth! I've had poor Cioppino elsewhere where the broth is thick like ketchup! Most of the seafood tasted fresh, though the wife commented the mussels were borderline. Still, she finished the dish and we had no ill effects the rest of the day. Overall 4 stars - downtown Tiburon (and nearby Sausalito) seems loaded with Italian eateries, and Luna Blue does serve up some solid dishes. If you park in the Main St. Pay Lot, they will validate for an hour. read more

This place had so much potential and we've been wanting to try it for quite some time! The outdoor seating area is lovely and has the best view! We came in over the weekend a few weeks ago and put ourselves on the waitlist while we walked around the area and waited for our table. First issue: They called us and told us our table was ready, but when we arrived, they said that there was no table available. The front desk admitted they forgot about our table and fumbled in the back to find an outdoor table for us to be seated at. Second issue: Once we were seated, no one came to give us menus or water, we sat there for about 20 minutes trying to flag someone down - and we were sort of in the corner so it was difficult to get anyone to help us. Another group came in after us, sat down across from us, and was helped immediately. This was SUPER ODD and we almost left, but we flagged down someone and asked if we could have a menu finally. I feel like we were actually purposefully ignored. When our waiter finally came, they were dismissive and a bit rude. They didn't seem like they wanted to check on us or even take our food orders. Such a weird vibe here. Third issue: Food, when finally ordered, took an ACTUAL 45 minutes to come out. That was probably the final straw for me. I was so excited to try this place but it fell short in every area aside from the stunning view. Such a bummer. The food is actually decent though. I ordered the cioppino and my partner had the tagliolini al granchio, which was a beet pasta served with fresh Dungeness crab. I haven't had a tagliolini that tasted so fresh! For $40 though, the portion was plated on like, a salad plate so that was also disappointing. Just was not the vibe I was looking for and probably not the type of place I'd go to for a special occasion. They missed the mark on several elements. Honestly, as someone who frequents the other restaurants nearby, I was shocked by how bad this place was and it's hard to find a compelling reason for me to ever try Luna Blu again, unfortunately! read more

My niece and I ate there Thursday night. She chose the restaurant based on the reviews and we were very disappointed for several reasons. We ordered drinks and they came out after the soup and salad, so there was no time to enjoy a cocktail before food arrived. The crab bisque was decent but portions are small. The Caesar salad was shockingly bland and something one might expect at a chain diner. Lettuce wasn't fresh or crisp, dressing was terribly bland, croutons weren't good and the whole thing was skimpy and seemed thrown together sloppily. It's hard to ruin a basic Caesar salad. The lobster ravioli were good but a small portion with little sauce for $38. We had to flag down our waiter several times to order dessert and to get our bill. And he seemed fairly grumpy and annoyed the entire time. It was oddly disappointing given the great reviews. Our bill was $112 for one soup, one salad, one entree, one dessert, one cocktail and one beer. And that would have been fine if the food and service had been enjoyable. read more

Went for a walk in Tiburon today and was going to go to Sams but line was long, lucky for us we were able to walk in and got a table next to the water! Food was outstanding, service was excellent, drinks (Mojito and Bloody Mary) were perfect and couldn't beat the view! Wife had the white omelet and I Panino Con Granchio (crab panini). Due to generous portion, we missed out on their deserts. We can't wait to come back for dinner! (yes, we we travel by boat, we'll come back to Sams, but Luna Blu was the better meal!) read more

Came here for a special BIG birthday for a family member. What a charming place....really nice. What made it nicer were the people and the food!! Crystal was very pleasant, accommodating and was a total pleasure to interact with. Realized towards the end of the lunch that Crystal is the owner and married to the celebrity chef!!!! Came on Sunday afternoon and my friend and I was seated quick! We wanted to sit outside and enjoy the view. There isn't parking outside so you might have to walk to this location. Most of the parking around the area is only 2 hours so plan accordingly! The prices are more on the expensive side but the service is great! As for the food, the Fried calamari was pretty good!
