Dr. Hoshizaki is the best! I drive about an hour to come here because she's very thorough, takes her time to advocate for the best options for my vision. The office is very clean, modern and gorgeous. I initially chose them because they have modern equipment and I just had a visit and asked about the new Ortho-K lenses that they have. Super cool! Bringing my boyfriend here as well. read more

Dr. Wang is the newest at the practice, I had a fantastic experience here! Finding a great eye doctor can be stressful, but she made the entire visit completely seamless. She was so patient, took the time to thoroughly answer all of my questions, and never made me feel rushed during the exam. The office staff was also very welcoming, and the facility is clean and modern. A few years ago, my old optometrist had an insurance change, and I was forced to find a new office. I decided to try Lumen because all the reviews said this place was amazing. They are! This optometrist office has the most professional and knowledgeable staff I've ever seen. Really, from the very first interaction in the lobby--they are thorough. It turned out this office was able to catch something other offices had missed. I was quickly referred to a specialist, which helped me care for my eyes. This is the best optometrist, period. read more

Lumen Optometric - Dr He with my kiddo. - Optometrists Near Me - Sierra Madre, California

Eric To, OD., FSLS is the best optometrist I've been to in a very long time. I recently switched from Stein Optometry in Burbank to Lumen because Dr. To truly cares about his patients. The entire staff is amazing--super professional, the environment is very clean, and they have a beautiful, stylish selection of glasses. Dr. To recommended computer glasses for me, which had never been suggested during the years I went to Stein. I always felt my regular glasses were too strong when working close to my computer, since I sit pretty close to the screen and my nearsighted prescription made things uncomfortable at that distance. The computer glasses have made an incredible difference. I also switched to scleral contact lenses, and they've been a total game changer. My disposable contacts just don't compare--I used to experience some blurriness with them. Dr. To explained why that happens, and the staff walked me through how to properly care for the new lenses, including how to insert and remove them. I can't imagine going back to my old contacts now. The scleral lenses are extremely comfortable, stay in place, and are custom fit to my eyes. I highly recommend Dr. To. read more

I decided to find a new orthokeratology optometrist because there was a noticeable decline in standard of care and attention to detail at my previous one. I spoke with numerous optometrists in the SGV area and everyone wanted to charge me a full eye exam for a consultation and thousands of dollars more to enroll because of licensing requirements. Apparently each practice has its own exclusivity rights. I widened my search to Pasadena and Sierra Madre and that is how I found Dr. To. I was incredibly impressed by his deep knowledge of ortho-k (he teaches it) and the amount of cutting-edge technology he had at his office. One major drawback I experienced with ortho-k lenses was that I often needed glasses by evening because my nearsightedness would return, but I rarely wore them because they never seemed to correct my eyesight that much. It was difficult to depend on a set prescription when my nearsightedness would fluctuate daily. I learned from Dr. To that what I endured was actually a consequence of wearing ill-fitting lenses like wearing a bad pair of frames. I would never have that problem again with him because he designs his lenses customized to fit my eyes perfectly. I knew I was in good hands and decided to enroll after my first visit. It has been a few months since I switched. I have near 20/20 vision all day and have not needed to wear prescription glasses yet! read more

My initial review was negative but they made it right so I am happy now...it took some time but they did.

Voguish : fashionable, smart Just the right amount of frames, with a blend of designer frames judiciously selected I'm sure. I hear the owner is the designer of one of the frame brands. It has a clean feel with natural lighting and a sense of openness for a small space, Floor to ceiling picturesque view of the mountains. As other Yelpers reviews have directed me here, their comments are right on target I didn't add pictures since their posting's are what helped me decide to make this appointment Dr He was very thorough, all team members were professional , friendly and knowledgeable. Explained different arteries and veins of the eye, also added nutritional advice to keep eyes healthy. Aavan, the one who assisted with my selection of frames was very patient, did not rush me, took measurements three times to verify and offered to calculate different ways to use my insurance for the best cost results. I selected a pair of SALT frames, she told me they're from Japan and reflect beauty of earth and nature. She mentioned that the color is taken from glaciers, after she mentioned it, I have to agree it really is a beautiful clear color with a subtle bluish/gray tinge. I would have said grey how boring is that! I enjoyed the detailed background information about the frames All-in-all I felt that I received an excellent exam and the outcome is always the result of time spent doing it right, accuracy of measurement and caring with an attention to detail which I felt throughout my visit. read more

Welcoming optometrist with great eye care staff. Highly recommend. I saw Dr. Sissi He, she is kind and experienced and awesome!

This review is long overdue, and I can't say enough good things about Dr. To! I've been wearing Ortho-K lenses for over 25 years and recently needed to find a new optometrist. After my first visit, all I could say was "WOW!" Dr. To and his office truly exceeded my expectations. Dr. To practices at an incredibly high standard of care, which is why I now recommend him to everyone I know. From the very first appointment, it was clear how knowledgeable and experienced he is, and that immediately gave me confidence in his care. He takes the time to explain everything in detail and never makes you feel rushed. I genuinely trust his recommendations, which is so important when it comes to something as important as your vision. His office is also incredibly high-tech, and it's clear that he invests in the best equipment to provide the most thorough exams possible. The whole experience feels very modern, efficient, and comprehensive. I've also had consistently positive experiences with his staff. Everyone is so kind, welcoming, and helpful--they make you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. That level of warmth and professionalism really makes a difference. I truly feel lucky to have found this office. If you're looking for an optometrist you can trust, I would recommend Dr. To to absolutely everyone. read more

I had a lovely experience here getting an eye exam and contact lenses exam with Dr. Hoshizaki!

Nice place ,fair prices ,quick turnaround. That's really all you need when it comes to glasses well done

First time at Lumen Optometric and I was blown away by the professionalism, the technology, and how engaged the doc was when he went over my assessment. Very thorough, answered any and all questions I had, went over the results from the fancy tests in detail, and got my prescription updated. Even found a contact lens that's less expensive and feels more comfortable than what I was using previously. High praise! If you're in the SGV check them out. read more

It feels silly to leave a review for an optometrist because one may think they're all the same but here is a quick gist of why I'm leaving a review-- 1. Latest technology 2. Courteous, friendly, and educated staff 3. The facilities are clean 4. Optometrist took her (sweet) time to address my concerns 5. A general sense of warmth in the office! It was my first visit and won't be my last as long as I live in SoCal read more

Dr. Tran did a excellent job evaluating my eye's health and vision. Would highly recommend visiting this office.

Beyond impressed by the helpfulness and hospitality-forward employees (which is not a characteristic I would expect to use to describe an eye doctor office). Office was so inviting/calm/chic + meticulously spotless/clean. Dr. He was so nice, warm, thorough, clear, concise, proved to have a really strong memory/actually listens to patients and processes what patients said + applies it real time to individual treatment plans. The frames lean luxury so if you're looking for designer frames or sunglasses - this is your spot. The equipment was really modern, gentle on my eyes, and I'm confidently saying best eye exam for quality and staffing ever. read more

Erik, Unfortunately, you did not do much for me at you store except charge me $780.00 for a pair of prescription glasses. No follow up, no nothing. Very disappointing experience for me. I did talk to your manager about this whole incident. Went back in for an adjustment. The lady who was there did not even sit me down. Very hurried little "adjustment". I took them home and tried to wear them, but one side was lopsided. I took them to another optometrist, and he said the glasses weren't right because they were given to me without a screw on one side! So, yes, I am not very pleased with your business. read more

I attended my first appointment w/Lumen Optometric 2 days ago. Parking wasn't the best but Lumen's care and service were WELL worth it. From the time I walked in and was asked to have a seat, I started looking at their selection of cool frames. They seem to have something for everybody, even me, and I'm very picky with eyewear. I waited about 5 minutes before they called me back for testing. I wish I remembered the tall young man's name who took me through the circuit of testing. He was very nice, patient, and had a great sense of humor. We chuckled our way through the whole testing process. Then he guided me to an exam room and said the doctor would be with me shortly. As soon as he walked out, the Dr knocked on the door. She was friendly, patient, knowledgeable, very thorough, and also had a sense of humor. She showed me huge images of my eyeballs on 2 wall monitors, explained what we were looking at, and made me feel comfortable enough to ask dumb questions-- which she answered in detail. I did not feel rushed at all. She explained what she saw and offered a few options to fit my needs as well as preferences. The Dr handed me off to Rosie to help with selecting frames. Rosie was also friendly and very patient. As indecisive as I was-- darting from frame wall to frame wall, and then circling back to the first pair I'd picked up-- Rosie was a trooper. I even had to stop and go to the restroom (which by the way, has a bidet and heated toilet seat which I'm currently shopping for at home-- but I digress). Rosie helped me select frames. At every optometry office in the past, I was told that I had to pick a thick, heavy frame to fit a thickish lens for my right eye. Not at Lumen! I bought two of the cutest, thinnest, coolest little frames that bend out of shape and back and don't even have screws, fitting both my work and personal lifestyles. I am very pleased with my selections and can't wait to gp back and pick up my glasses in a couple of weeks. My only concern with this visit was clocking my time for the 2-hour parking out front in case I needed to find a free spot to park my car. I finished just before the two hours ended. I must say that my indecisiveness in picking frames took the longest time of the entire process. Overall, my first experience with Lumen Optometric was a stellar 10/10! I'd rate them higher if it were possible. The visit was very educational and fun. read more

Lumen Optometric - Cute thin frames at Lumens for a prescription I was told in the past needed a thicker, heavier frame. Stoked! - Optometrists Near Me - Sierra Madre, California

Outstanding performance. Well worth 5 star optometry. I would give them more stars if I could. I decided to start orthok despite the long drive from Orange County. Although their pricing is above average, the care and attentiveness is something that you would not regret by choosing this place. I had to call them off hour one time when I was traveling out of states because I lost my eye plunger and there was no way to buy an immediate replacement in the small town. Doctor got back to me, immediately, on their day off, and kindly instructed me how to remove contact lenses by hand. He definitely saved my day and my trip! From the look, to the pleasant scent walking into the office. The office care about you as a person than just another patient coming into a healthcare facility. If you're still looking for an optometrist, this is the place to go! read more

I am so happy to be able to find a business worth Yelping! I flipped through reviews of optometry shops in the area and found this beautiful modern eye shop with a detailed web site. Lumen Optometic exceeded all of my expectations. Communication: What sold me on booking an appointment was Lumen's succinct Covid protocol video. Lumen's website offers a comprehensive overview of what to expect during a visit. Each use case is well thought out to ensure the customer experience is a positive one! Appointment booking can be done online and TEXT. Completing patient forms and payment processes are paperless! You can pay via Apple Pay! Reminders and instructions are timely and clear in order to streamline your visit. Contacts can be shipped free to your home or picked up curbside. Lumen's mission is clearly communicated and well executed: Lumen customers are highly valued. Knowledge: Dr. To appears technically competent as he sat down to walk through my screening results in easy to understand laymen terms. He educated me about the blood vessels in the back of the retina and Meibomian glands. None of my previous optometrists leveraged most of the technology Dr. To has. Approach: I deeply appreciate Dr. To's strategic and proactive approach on the long term care of his patients. My first screening was incredibly thorough to set a baseline to compare against future screenings. Unlike my previous optometrists, Dr. To also emphasizes other eye related issues like migraines and neck strain. Attitude: Dr. To and his staff's professionalism are top notch. While Dr. To is professional, he has an affable bedside manner. Doctor appointments can be sometimes a drag -- my first optometrist was competent but had a personality of a raisin; super boring and dry. Dr. To is super easy to talk to re: a multitude of topics. I feel I can ask him a "dumb" question about my eyes and he would honestly answer without judgment. If you are seeking an optometrist who is focused on the long term care of your eyes and invested in the newest technology, visit Dr. To! Dr. To, thanks for such a great experience and for becoming our family's optometrist for many years to come. read more

I came to Lumen a year ago after my previous Optometrist retired. It was a great decision. From my initial visit to my appointment today I have been very pleased with Lumen's service. Today, Tyler took care of the initial testing and was efficient and friendly. Dr. Hoshizaki is also very friendly, addressed my questions, and did a very thorough exam. The exam did not feel rushed and I felt confident in her recommendation. I then decided to get new glasses and Rosie did a great job helping me find the right frames and get me fitted. I heard about a revolutionary (in my opinion) way of fixing my eyesight without having to wear glasses or contacts during the day called Ortho-K and I was so excited! I saw Dr. Hoshizaki and she talked me through the process and explained what to expect. She spent ample time with me, answering questions, testing my eyes and listening to my needs. Ortho-K is quite an interesting process, and it took some time to get it right, but Dr. Hoshizaki was so patient and continued to work on my prescription until I was happy with my results! It took 4 tries, but she was so patient throughout the months of figuring out the right contacts I needed and I'm so happy I kept at it! Ortho-K is totally worth it. It takes some getting used to, but SO much better than having to put glasses on every single time I want to see/read something for just a sec. Now I can actually read prices when I'm in the store, labels, etc. without having to dig in my purse just to wear glasses to see for 5 seconds. And it's so nice to not have reading glasses stashed all over the house. The staff is also very nice, especially Tyler, who always had a smile on his face and had a very kind and gentle personality. The office and waiting areas are all very clean and well kept. 5 stars all around! read more

A long overdue review for the amazing team at Lumen Optometric. I had been with the same optometrist for more than two decades until they had retired. It was time to search for a new optometrist and Lumen Optometric looked to be the most promising choice. Safe to say I made the right choice, and I had a seamless experience for my annual eye check up + contact lens fitting exam. It was really nice to be in such an aesthetically pleasing optometry office with modern equipment. All associates at the store were incredibly helpful and more than happy to assist with any questions that I might have had. Dr. To genuinely seeks the best for his patients, and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to meet him. His goal and priority is to simply ensure that patients have the best eyesight possible. The office strives for excellence and it shows in everything that they do. Keep up the wonderful work! I'm extremely happy knowing that my eyes are well taken care of here at Lumen Optometric.
