The breakfast food is good, and the place is clean. Atmosphere is a little lacking which should be no surprise to anyone familiar with restaurants in Ridgecrest. Lugo's is a restaurant owned by a great family in Ridgecrest. The wait staff is always friendly and helpful (especially Miguel and Ernesto), and the food is well proportioned for the price. They are listed as an "American Grill" and they do have a fantastic selection of burgers, sandwiches and other "American" foods, but they have many traditional Mexican specialties as well. I also hear they serve a mean Margarita. If you want fresh fruit for your crepes or pancakes rather than canned, you do have to ask for it, but it's available. Over the past few years, Lugo's has become our go-to place for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Breakfast, by the way, is served all day long. read more

Went here tonight and got enchiladas with beans and rice. It's was horrible. My food was cold. Beans were also straight of the can with cold shredded cheese on top. I would also say the rice was like minute rice. Service was also not great. Server was not very attentive and it took them about 15min to ask us if we were ready to order and was overall not very friendly. There were only 2 other small tables in there with about 5 servers working. I was bummed because I was looking forward to eating here more often due to the many food options they have. read more

As always this review must be qualified that it's getting a four star for Ridgecrest. This is not NY or LA. We've been there breakfast and dinner now and had good experiences both times. The wait staff is friendly and on top of things. We've gotten served quickly and the food;s been good. I had the chili rellano which is usually a deep fried cheesy mess anywhere you go and this was no exception. The last two times we went, the waiting time was ridiculous. The time before last we were seated and our server took our food order in a reasonable amount of time. But then we waited 30+ minutes for our food. Today, May 26, we found a seat. Our drink order was taken and promptly served. The waiter came to the table and asked if we were ready to order. We said we were, then he abruptly walked away before we ordered. We waited, and after sitting there sipping iced tea for a half hour, we left. The waiter never returned to our table. I know a lot of folks like Lugo's - but I shall avoid it after ordering a half sandwich and salad. What could go wrong? The bread was NOT sourdough as I asked but a large THICK slab of white bread cut in half, not even toasted. There was a wad of turkey (it did taste fresh), a tasteless piece of tomato and some lettuce, and the worlds worst excuse for a dill pickle. If they can't do better than that, they should take it off the menu. If you're a senior and must eat there, the best bet is a meal from the senior menu and salad bar access is included I think. The waitress might have mentioned that fact to me. I haven't spoken out about the restaurants in Ridgecrest before but I'm getting tired of the mediocre food that is served in this town. The NASTIEST food I have ever tried to eat in Ridgecrest. Everything was over fried on the outside and mush on the inside. Easter lunch 2015. We planned to do some shopping directly afterwards, instead, we both had to rush straight home. Fortunately we have 2 bathrooms. I ordered fish & chips and could only stomach a few fries. The Cole slaw was drowning in that nasty juice - like water. My wife ordered a pastrami sandwich, meat was OK but the bread was soggy. She only ate less than half. We won't be going back there again. I went to Lugos for Easter I worked all day so I got off at 7 and went there and had pineapple glazed ham yams and green beans with peach cobbler for dessert my waitress was Susie my bartender was Ernesto Lugo who made me a Cadillac margarita it was very good everytime I go to lugos it's always very good and the service is always wonderful I give them 10 Star if I could!!! read more

It deserves 1 star for food. 3 stars for clean environment. 4 stars for the service. The service is outstanding and what you get in LA or other great restaurants outside of Ridgecrest. The food though - greasy and mediocre. The philly sandwich was difficult to chew even though it was cut in small pieces and the french roll was awful. I took the bread off and suffered through the tough meat. My date was pleased to be able to get breakfast at noon and thought the skillet eggs were pretty good except greasy. The tortillas that came with it were stuck together and gross. One trip and no need to return. It was very clean. I sure do wish the food matched the amazing service! read more

Don't eat here (unless you are getting pancakes). This place sucks! I am never eating here again! Anytime I have ordered anything from this restraunt that is not pancakes it comes out burnt to a crisp. Today my food was soooo burnt that the staff was giggling when I declined a to go box for the trash (I ate a couple bites because it was my lunch break and I had to get something in my tummy, burnt or not). I wish yelp did negative stars because Lugos should really get a -1 star for giggling about serving some horrendously burnt food. read more

The place is alright. It never feels very clean and the service is very hit-and-miss. The food is just OK. Prices are a bit high for the quality of the food. In my opinion, the only real upside is that it is one of the few places in town where you can get a meal and a mixed drink and not be bent over a barrel. But their mixed drinks are all sugary pre-made mixes and bottom shelf liquor. I don't recommend this place unless you are really wanting to try something different. read more

Low quality food !! They used canned strawberries on their pancakes.. Eew! and the service is worst than a chinese restaurant. The waiter guy slam the foods on our table and walked away , he did 't even say a word like enjoy your food or bon appetite or anything he just drop the food loudly on the table and walked. No eyes contact either lol . All three of us were like wth just happened ??! oh well, that didnt bother us much because our foods just arrived and we're a bunch if hungry cows so we get right in the business and eat. Yuck the foods tasted greasy and weird like a left over from the night before kinda food , it's so greasy i felt sick afterward.. my daughter only ate 1/4 of her pancakes and quit. Right at the very end of our dining the waiter finally came around and gave us the bill... all of the sudden he's much nicer and ask how the food was... it made me think he's only doing that only because now he's trying to earn some tips. lol for you folks trying to look for a decent breakfast place while in Ridgecrest i suggest try other place instead. you want to have a good time at breakfast with your family and not be bother by bad service or bad quality foods. read more

Food was great! Server was super animated and friendly! AND we were only in town for the day and I left my purse there! They worked quickly to find my phone number and call me before I left town. Came in with family for dinner. The place wasn't terribly busy, but the table hadn't been wiped down prior to being reset. Menus were handed to us over the divider (behind us). Ordered ice tea with no lemon. The gal who brought the tea had a bowl of lemons...just in case. Once we ordered, we asked for the garlic toast to be brought out first. After 20 min, no garlic bread. Nobody came to offer refills of water or tea. We ordered salads and they were not delivered prior to the food being plated up. I watched the food sit on the tray for a good 5 min before someone realized the salads hadn't been delivered. The older server again handed the salads from behind us over the divider. Kind of tacky that she couldn't walk up 2 steps to hand them over directly. Two bites into the salad, the younger server, who had previously delivered the beverages brought the entrees. The food was ok. Nothing spectacular. The service was sub par for the amount of business. We had to hunt down the check. read more

We had dinner here the other night. I was disappointed to receive canned corn as the vegetable with my entree when the menu clearly said the entrees come with "fresh vegetables". The mashed potatoes weren't real either. However the country fried steak was tender and the gravy was pretty good. The service was good also. When we ate at this restaurant last Sunday, the restaurant was relatively busy, but not booked. The seating was seat-yourself style. Because the restaurant was busy, we went ahead and sat down and ended up waiting 15 minutes before our waitress even approached our table to bring us menus. After we finally got our menus, we waited another 10 minutes to take our orders and then after we finished eating, we waited 20 minutes for our check! I was pretty livid with just this, but the worst part was that we were not even the only ones in the restaurant getting neglected! Another lady had been sitting in her seat for quite some time and had to yell to get attention so she and her friend could order! If this restaurant got a little more organized with waitressing and seating, I think they could solve most of their problems, but I will definitely NOT be going back to this restaurant!!! read more

We have been to Lugos many times and normally I would give then 4 to 5 stars, but based on the last two experiences we have had, they are barely getting 2. The food has always been exactly what we were looking for and expected, however the service has been less than ok the last two visits. We went this past Sunday for a late breakfast and it felt like we had to beg for any kind of service. We had to order drinks twice, then remind them to get them for us, our waitress never came back to check on us, we had to ask for our ticket and boxs twice, all while the table next to us were treated like royalty. The topping on the horrible service was the attitude we got when we used a reasturant.com coupon and nobody knew how to apply it to our bill.
