    Eggs Benedict, hash browns
    Sarah G.

The service is great. The food is just average. The ambiance is clean, updated, and inviting. This is basically Kristy's (on China Lake Blvd) with updated interior. Food tastes exactly the same. The real disappointment during this meal was the eggs Benedict-- one of the eggs was severely overcooked, which defeats the purpose of even ordering this dish. I think a chef, or even a cook, should know this. Everything is overpriced, but especially the slice of banana cream pie at $7.95. Things I liked: the garlic toast, the busser did a great job, the bill was dropped on our table, and when I put my debit card on the bill, the busser kindly took it up to the register and rang me up. I didn't have to get up to pay my bill, which I really appreciate.

    Grilled Ortega Beef Sandwich

I've been here 4 times. I enjoyed the food each time. I really like their enchilada sauce. My most recent trip was a few days ago, I got the Ortega Beef Sandwich and it was really good, beef was juicy and plenty of ortega pepper. The sourdough bread had a little more grease than I like but I know a lot of people like their sandwiches heavily buttered. The interior is a bit older but they have plenty of tables and room. It is often seat yourself. One time I had pretty poor service(mostly just ignored and food took forever) but the most recent time I went, we had really good service. My friends and colleagues had ordered tea and coffee and servers checked regularly if they needed top offs. Our waters were kept full. One thing that really stood out to me is that my friend didn't like her dish, the fish and chips, but she really doesn't like complaining about anything. The waitress noticed she had barely touched her plate and immediately tried to make it right. I thought that was really thoughtful that the waitress was perceptive enough to tell she didn't like her meal but that she didn't want to complain and still worked to make it right. So that was pretty exceptional customer service.

Had great breakfast with great service by Shanna. Service is sometimes hit or miss at Lugo's, Shanna is definitely a hit!

The diner was definitely better than I expected and we will return! The Pancakes were really good,…read moreand was the Veggie omelet. However, the Homemade Cinnamon Roll was just okay. The gentleman who took our orders was nice and very patient! The ambiance was nothing special-typical diner. The toilets could use good cleaning, too, but the bathrooms were generally okay. I had the Country Benedict, which is a sausage patty and an egg on top of a biscuit and covered with gravy, served with hash browns. The egg was over easy, and the yolk, when broken, blended deliciously with the gravy. The hash browns were crisp and fresh - very good. The biscuit was buttered, which was a pleasant surprise. They pay attention to small details like that here. Mr. P enjoyed his burger, which came with fresh onions, tomato and lettuce on a specialty bun. The burger was smashed, yet very juicy. His fries were golden brown crisp and cut thick. He liked them a lot. This was easily the best diner breakfast I've had in a long while. Looking forward to stopping in again when I'm nearby in the future. I am full and happy.

If you avoid fried food you need to know that Ale's hand breads their Seafood. This means you can order yours GRILLED! My favorites are grilled catfish and scallops with lemon pepper. Their coleslaw is delicious so I get double and skip the fries. We frequently go to the Central Coast and even there Ale's Seafood in Ridgecrest is often better! The decor is super fun and reggae music is a beach lover's choice. The servers are great here, so friendly and careful to get it your way. Ridgecrest, treat yourself more often at Ale's Crab House and your body will thank you!

We ate here and at Ale's steakhouse across town and they are very similar to me in terms of value,…read morethough they do differ. First, the good. It's nice that there is a restaurant in town with fresh fish. Our server was awesome. We were going to a tiki themed place (which you should 100% try to find if you are in town) afterwards and the server shared some cool info about it when we mentioned it. I ordered fish and chips, against my better judgement, and it was just OK. I'm a fan of beer batter that builds up more than a thin crust on the fish, and this wasn't that. On top of that, the cod was a little over cooked (a bit of a theme for the other Ale's as well). That said, the flavor profile was good and their tartar sauce was on point. I had the option for seasoned fries or steak fries and opted for the steak fries to save some sodium intake. I'd probably shorten my life slightly and get the seasoned fries next time. My wife had a salad that was very similar to the other Ale's -- lots of iceberg lettuce and overcooked chicken. We also had the clam chowder, which had a good consistency but was just a touch fishy. I still enjoyed it, though. They have a pretty good selection of beer and other drinks, as well. The decor is informal and overall I liked the place. Between the two Ale's I'd probably give a slight nod to the original, but they are very similar restaurants other than the focus on seafood here.
