I've dined here four times now and have loved every daily soup I've tried--the bouillabaisse in particular is excellent. The staff are consistently friendly, and I really enjoy the variety of dining spaces available. The bar is a great touch too--refined without feeling pretentious. This restaurant really went the extra mile for us. Our family was driving back from Mammoth, we needed lunch, and we didn't want to leave our dog in the car because it was hot. The staff was very welcoming, and offered to seat us on the patio, which was lovely. They moved a table for us to a shaded area of grass, turned on a nearby water feature, and brought our dog a bowl of water. The staff took our order and they brought it to our table in no time. Lunch was enjoyed by all. Definitely give Cactus & Flame a try if you're in the area or passing through. Absolutely Incredible! My husband and I came in for our 9th anniversary. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and the staff was genuinely kind and attentive. You can immediately tell this restaurant takes pride in giving guests an unforgettable experience. Now the food... absolutely outstanding. The steaks were some of the best I've ever had--perfectly seasoned, cooked to perfection, and incredibly tender. Every bite was flavorful and memorable. And the desserts? Next-level. The crème brûlée had that perfect caramelized top that cracks beautifully, with a silky, rich custard underneath. The tiramisu was just as incredible--light, creamy, and perfectly balanced with espresso flavor. One thing that truly stood out was the chef. He personally made his rounds through the dining room, checking in with guests, and he was incredibly friendly and attentive. You don't see that often anymore, and it made the whole experience feel even more special. From the service, to the food, to the warm personal touches, I left already excited to come back again. We always eat at Classic Burger when we drive to Mammoth. I'm glad we found this alternative. The service is excellent, and the food is great! We got pasta, short rib burger, and regular burger. The burger was the best thing we ordered, but everything else was good too. If you have a pet or young kids, the outdoor area is perfect. Will definitely be back. read more

The food wash wonderful so delicious hubbt had seafood stew almost like 7 seafood soup but not, i had the fetuccini alfredo with shrimp so good best i have had in a long time, we also shared calamari really good and falavorable, garlic bread delicious, pina colada and long island ice tea both gteat. The service was great polite, also offered desert at the end of meal carrot cake and creme brulee both amazing. Nice ambience table clothed tables, bar area or not your choice. What a nice restaurant! We weee looking for a place where we could eat with our border collie. This restaurant was warm and well from the moment we came in. We were seated in the pleasant garden, with a water bowl for our girl and a table the restaurant set up for us, soon accompanied by an outdoor heater. Service was personable and thoughtful throughout. And what delicious food. We loved our focaccia starter, excellent Caesar salad, bouillabaisse and scrumptious lasagne. Found this little unassuming restaurant when we got hungry on the drive back from Mammoth and stopped for lunch! It was unexpectedly amazing! My husband had the pork chop, and the rest of us each had a different kind of pasta each. Everything we had was delicious, most especially the pork chop and the spaghetti carbonara. Pros it's nice to have another food option in the area, the customer service is great and the place looks nice. We got the crab cakes appetizer, which came out really fast and where definitely Sysco and fried from frozen, not bad but nothing special. My girlfriend and I both got the ribeye steak, her with the veggies and mashed potatoes and I got the mushroom risotto. They steak came out really fast which makes me think they have them prepped and just throw them on the grill to heat up. We ordered medium rare and both got medium. The steaks weren't bad, but where not seasoned well and where only elevated by a red wine sauce they served with them. My risotto had canned mushrooms in it which is not acceptable for a restaurant presenting itself as higher end then the typical fair. My girlfriend's mashed potatoes where clearly instant, which again isn't acceptable. For the price points the sides and appetizers shouldn't be Sysco and the steak should be seasoned better and cooked correctly. The steak portions where decent but for the price nothing special. I understand that cost cutting happens in restaurants but for one that just opened, it's definitely disappointing. read more

WONDERFUL new steakhouse in the Ridgecrest/Inyokern area! Just minutes off of 14 and immediately off 395, a new desert-themed steakhouse has popped up. We went for date night, just a week after soft opening and we were treated to amazing service, a tablecloth experience, in a place straight out of a Louis L'Amour novel. The ribeye was perfectly cooked mashed potatoes and veggies paired well, and my wife's Chicken Marsala luxuriously flavored. We are thankful to have a place as westernly wonderful as this - understated desert vibes but with 'cooked when ordered and to taste' cuisine here in Inyokern - "100 miles from Anywhere'. Locals date night just went high class....and if you're traveling on 395 and 14...looking for the true soul of western cooking - stop at Cactus and Flame - you will be glad you did! My boyfriend and I have gone a couple times and gotten 3 different kinds of pasta. Each time the sauces are runny, sloughing off the noodles and making it only moderately flavored. The sauce pools at the bottom and has to be used as a dip. We were expecting more based on the confidence their social media manager displays on Facebook but pasta either isn't their strong suit or they don't allot enough time for properly reducing their sauces. However, it was ultimately perfectly fine and the shrimp in the fettuccine alfredo was cooked well! We'll have to stick to their protein main dishes from now on. read more

The food was overall very yummy. Upon entering I was caught by surprise as the place feels very cozy.

My fiancé and I went here for our engagement celebration, and let's just say they didn't fail to deliver. We both ordered steak, I ordered a ribeye and she had New York steak medium well. The seasoning was great, the place was small to be expected but very cozy and fancy. I felt like I was eating at a top notch restaurant. What's unfortunate for me is its location that's all. We've been here three times. The filet is over-priced, I must say that. I don't understand mashed potatoes instead of baked. My husband had penne and sausage. First time, wonderful. Second time, 4 small pieces of sausage in the dish. Lasagna and spaghetti and meatballs are great. Rib eye good, but pricey. Desserts are great. Atmosphere is nice. Be prepared to wait!! The parking sucks, with few spots and having to back out onto the road with traffic coming in from Highway 14. Nice place for special occasions but too sprndy for routine dinners. read more

Had dinner here and everything was top notch, could have been in an LA restaurant. I had the Ahi Tuna special with scalloped potatoes and sautéed zucchini. The Ahi was cooked to perfection with a pineapple sauce that was to die for. My husband had the rack of lamb, also cooked to perfection--medium rare--and also with a superb sauce. My husband requested the scalloped potatoes instead of mashed which was accommodated. For dessert he had carrot cake and I had crème brûlée. We enjoyed both. Staff was charming and attentive but not smothering. You could plunk this white tablecloth restaurant down in the middle of LA and it would fit in easily with other high caliber restaurants. I went to Cactus & Flame and honestly didn't know what to expect because the area is kinda rough, but don't let that fool you--the food and the people here are AMAZING. Everyone was super friendly, the service was fast, and the vibe inside feels way nicer than you'd think from the outside. I got the Caesar salad, and it was honestly so good. AMAZING! Moving from DC back to Ridgecrest, I've been missing the ambience of a restaurant that only Cactus and Flame has. Attention to customers was the obvious priority of the service and the owner was very professional, asked us questions, and extremely communicative about food questions/feedback. Cactus and Flame reminds of the restaurants I would travel 45 minutes across the city because of service, food, and comfort. I've never seen service like this in Ridgecrest and this restaurant clearly rivals anything in town. read more

It was my first time here and service started out horrible. We were seated immediately, but waited about 10 minutes for menus. It wasn't busy only 2 other tables were seated. I got the short ribs with mashed potatoes and vegetables (green beans and carrots) and waffles for dessert. Short ribs and waffles were really good, cooked perfectly. Mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a box and vegetables were hard and not cooked enough with no flavor. We decided to try Cactus and Flame in Inyokern based on the reviews. The staff was attentive getting us seated. After that, the attentiveness was a little much. Our waiter recommends the Makers Mark old fashion and it was not worth the extra four bucks ($14) for a run of the mill bourbon. We ordered New York steak and rack of lamb, each $40. It was served on a wooden platter with what appears to be instant potatoes and frozen veggies. Its was good quality meat but the dinner was not worth the $40 bucks. I would recommend that they serve real mash potatoes and fresh veggies and reduce their prices if they want return business. Not worth what we spent!!! read more

times I've been to cactus & flame, & each time the quality of the food/service continues to diminish. On Valentine's Day we went for the brunch & the food was terrible. The only good thing was the special menu allowing you to get an appetizer, entrée & dessert for the price of $25.00. The omelette was the worst thing I've ever had, I could not eat it. I asked for no onions or mushrooms & ended up with extra mushrooms. Plus they used jarred bell peppers, which were sweet & oily. It was gross. Not to mention the service was bad. We were the only two people in the restaurant, & it took forever to place our order, get our food & the get check. Yesterday we ended up getting cactus and flames food again and I literally had to throw away the bread pudding. It tasted old, like somebody had left the custard uncovered in the fridge. It was such a waste of $77.00! IIt my understanding this place is supposed to be a fine dining experience, however the only thing close to fine dining are the inflatable prices. The food's taste is never consistent (1 day good, the next 2 bad), the ambience needs Serious work (especially if you want to charge steakhouse prices), Most steakhouses offer bearnise sauce, A1 sauce, etc., the only sauce your given for your $60 filet is a horrible beef gravy that you would expect to find at some washed up diner.
