Bangkok Fried Rice

It is true that this restaurant serves authentic and great tasting Thai food. I didn't believe a former diner's review until I tried it. The owner and chef are Thai. We order the Bangkok fried rice and Tom kar seafood and ended with mango sticky rice for dessert. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. Prices were reasonable. Service was great. By the way, they charged only $4 per glass of wine.

What a fun little spot. As soon as you enter, you can smell the delightful scents of garlic and spices! We treated ourselves with a few items on the menu. Appetizer: golden fried wontons Meals: Chicken fried rice for the kids (1 large order fed my three little ones) Chicken pad Thai for the hubs Tom Yum soup with shrimp for me Treats: Taro Milk Tea with boba Great service, delicious food, and relaxing ambiance. We are coming back again!

Very peaceful environment. After being on the road, come here to calm down. Had the Thai Boat Noodle Soup with pork and beef. Great dish. I added enough hot & spicy condiments to strip paint. Delish. Too few restaurants make this and some screw it up trying to do it. Come here for authentic Thai food, not the Chinese and Korean knockoffs. You want your owner to Thai, not Chinese or Korean, as is the case at most "Thai" restaurants. Just ask where the owner is from.

I chose to come here with my colleague since it's just down the street from the Navy Base. The restaurant has a casual vibe with plenty of space inside. It wasn't very crowded, likely because China Lake is a remote area with one of the largest Navy Bases in the country. The staff was friendly and seemed to have a lot of roles--server, receptionist, cook, maybe even the owner! I might return if I decide to dine in rather than just get takeout, as I usually opt for Chipotle, Panda, or other fast food.

I ordered spice fried rice. I think it's pretty good. The place is pretty empty when we got there. They only have one person working. She's nice but so busy. She seems to handle everything: the front, waiting table, phone order. Might stop by again next time we are in the area

I love Thai food and I highly recommend those place. I ordered the beef Thai fried rice without egg and beef lumpia. The fried rice was good and has a nice flavor. The lumpia was good as well. The next I order I will add a little spice to my Thai fried rice. I will definitely be returning to order. You can dine in or order takeout.

If you avoid fried food you need to know that Ale's hand breads their Seafood. This means you can order yours GRILLED! My favorites are grilled catfish and scallops with lemon pepper. Their coleslaw is delicious so I get double and skip the fries. We frequently go to the Central Coast and even there Ale's Seafood in Ridgecrest is often better! The decor is super fun and reggae music is a beach lover's choice. The servers are great here, so friendly and careful to get it your way. Ridgecrest, treat yourself more often at Ale's Crab House and your body will thank you!

It's nice that there is a restaurant in town with fresh fish. Our server was awesome. We were going to a tiki themed place (which you should 100% try to find if you are in town) afterwards and the server shared some cool info about it when we mentioned it. I ordered fish and chips, against my better judgement, and it was just OK. I'm a fan of beer batter that builds up more than a thin crust on the fish, and this wasn't that. On top of that, the cod was a little over cooked (a bit of a theme for the other Ale's as well). That said, the flavor profile was good and their tartar sauce was on point. I had the option for seasoned fries or steak fries and opted for the steak fries to save some sodium intake. I'd probably shorten my life slightly and get the seasoned fries next time. My wife had a salad that was very similar to the other Ale's -- lots of iceberg lettuce and overcooked chicken. We also had the clam chowder, which had a good consistency but was just a touch fishy. I still enjoyed it, though. They have a pretty good selection of beer and other drinks, as well. The decor is informal and overall I liked the place. Between the two Ale's I'd probably give a slight nod to the original, but they are very similar restaurants other than the focus on seafood here.

On our drive back to California from Reno, I was seriously craving sushi. I searched along our…read moreroute and Tokyo House Japanese Restaurant popped up on both Google and Yelp with decent reviews, so my husband and I decided to give it a try. We ordered a few sushi rolls, a rice plate with beef and vegetables, and chicken potstickers. I'll start with the positives: the woman who took our order over the phone was very kind and professional, and our food was ready right on time when we arrived. The restaurant itself was also very clean, which we appreciated. We took everything to go since we were continuing our road trip. Unfortunately, once we started eating, we were really disappointed. While the pricing was reasonable, the food quality just didn't match the reviews. The beef had almost no flavor, the rice was bland, and the overall dish felt very under-seasoned. The sushi was simply okay not terrible, but not something I'd go out of my way for. The biggest letdown, though, was the chicken potstickers. They were burned on the outside and when we opened them up, there was barely any filling inside. They tasted dry and overcooked, which was really disappointing. It wasn't a horrible experience overall, but definitely not memorable in a good way. Would I come back? No. Would I recommend it? Probably not. The service and cleanliness were solid, but when it comes to Japanese food, flavor and execution matter most and unfortunately, this just didn't deliver for us.

The green onions were old and dry. I had never seen such unfresh green onions being presented to me before. I was like, wow, they must have an inexperienced chef working on Friday night. We decided to order one last roll from the specials-- it was called Bam Crunch. We waited a long time for this to come to our table, even the server noticed it had been a while. You would think that in the 20+ minutes it took for this one roll that they could have found some decent cilantro, even if that meant a quick trip to Stater Bros. The cilantro was worse than the green onions, and I was just disappointed at this point. How does a sushi chef let something like this stay in the kitchen instead of composting it or throwing it in the trash? Please don't disrespect your patrons like this. This is not fast food, nor is it inexpensive. Also, the maki are smaller than at other Japanese restaurants. I would rather drive to the AV the next time we want sushi.
