While staying for the night in Ridgecrest, we decided to stop in to Ale's. We came in eyeing the shrimp and lobster fries which was our favorite part of the meal. Kids shared a chicken sandwich, which was ok. Husband and I shared the pastrami burger, which was pretty tasty, loved the pastrami. The restaurant was very clean and had nice hand washing station and some fun decor. Our waitress was not all that friendly, but was very attentive. Overall pretty good food for this small little town.

Can't believe they serve as this pen with lots of dark spot. Not only that it was spoiled. My husband had bad stomachache that night

Food was good but can't believe they serve as this corn that had lots of discoloration. My husband took a bite then stop eating. My three years old likes corn so she took a bite and also didn't continue. So I took a bite to find it was spoiled. That night my jus had a bad stomachache until the next day. I am not sure where i should come back but tell them when they feed me spoiled food or not to come back here anymore due to the lack of food safety control

Friends, if you are on your way to Death Valley or find yourself in Ridgecrest, stop here. Amazing friendly service and a fun atmosphere. It is in a very unassuming strip mall but it's bright and cheerful on the inside with wooden tables and plastic bibs! Two of us got the Po' boy and praised the light and airy batter. It wasn't heavy and the shrimp was excellent quality. The bread was a little soggy but who cares when the shrimp was so good. Fries were the standard side. The shrimp tacos were grilled and came with a side of fries or white rice. Interesting. I had the shrimp boil. You could add on rice, corn or sausage and get your choice of seafood, seasoning and spice level. I ordered the combo seasoning but it was a little salty. But somehow the grease and seasoning on the corn in the cob mixed with the steamed rice was epic. Definitely be sure to try any of the boils. I washed all of it down with a Negro modelo draft. All in all, a culinary bright spot of our trip to Death Valley.

The food was so good and super cheap compared to a place I went to in Bakersfield. The waitress was also very nice and attentive! I loved it so much!!

    Deep fried Lobster tails

An unexpected seafood find in the dessert. Nautical industrial decor, clean and comfortable dining area. Staff was friendly, and service was attentive. My only negative on the food was that their catfish fillets were not completely cleaned, and they had some of the dark mud vein still attached. You could get around it, but it leaves an off taste to an otherwise nice piece of fish. Cod and clams were cooked perfectly. Batter was crisp and not greasy, served with slaw, corn and fries. Now let's talk about the Giant score for the night. Deep friend lobster tails. Holy smokes they are delicious!!! 11 out of 10 would make the hour and a half drive for home just for these. Two tails pulled way from shells and then breaded in a season batter and deep fried to crisped perfection. It's on the appetizer menu, served with a pile of fries. Fabulous. I will probably get that for my dinner next trip. Over all a very nice dinner date

I'll be honest, I was a little confused at first. I saw the name "VEN A" and expected something…read moremore Mexican or Spanish, then I looked at the menu and wasn't really sure what to expect. It felt a bit all over the place at first. But the reviews were so strong compared to everything nearby that we decided to try it on our way to Mammoth. When we got there it was pretty quiet, and the owner sat us and took our order himself. He was really friendly and took the time to walk us through the menu and give recommendations. We ended up talking with him quite a bit, and once he explained his background and how his food is influenced by different cultures, the menu started to make a lot more sense. You can tell he really cares about what he's making, and he's very genuine and easy to talk to. We ordered the jerk chicken tacos, the creole pasta, and the soul bird sandwich. I had asked about modifying the sandwich and he mentioned he doesn't really do modifications, which I actually respected. It felt like he really stands behind how each dish is meant to be eaten. The food ended up being really good. The pasta surprised me the most. It looked simple at first, but it was creamy, slightly peppery, and really flavorful without feeling heavy. The beef had a nice char that added a lot. The jerk chicken tacos were also really good, super juicy and flavorful, and everything worked well together. The habanero sauce wasn't very spicy, more on the sweeter side, but it complemented the dish well. There was a small mix-up with my sandwich at first, but he caught it right away, fixed it, and even let us keep the first one. Both versions were good, but the one with pickles had a better balance. The tang really pulled everything together. We ended up finishing everything, which we weren't planning on. Overall, it was just a really good experience. Good food, and a really nice conversation with the owner that made the whole visit feel more personal. We actually wanted to stop by again on our way back, but they were closed. I wish we lived closer because we'd definitely come back. It's a spot that deserves more attention.

Went to 2nd time. Food was good as before. Service was a little slow but it didn't bother us. The…read moreopen kitchen is great and looks clean. I wish for a little more seating space between tables. But overall we like it.
