Stopping on my way to Anaheim and Ale's came up as one of the highest rated places. It was definitely decent. Just gotta drop a star because our waitress was a bit short and irritable, and the food was really nothing crazy amazing. Ended up having the shrimp and lobster fries appetizer which was pretty yummy, the shrimp on it is the best part. Even the kids loved the fries and ended up also splitting a chicken sandwich that was pretty basic, but cooked well and had a tasty bun. Wife and I split a pastrami burger, and gotta say the pastrami was really good, that was a great choice. It had a bunch of creamy cheese sauce on it as well and was gone in seconds. Ambiance was fine, place was really clean, and service was SUPER QUICK. One critique is when we asked for extra plates to split out food, the waitress told us they were out of plates because they used them all on the party that was in there. This was at max a party of 10, and the restaurant had to only have 10 more people in it total. Kinda weird to be out of plates at 20% capacity... she did end up getting us additional "trays" to use. Totally fine, just a bit odd. All in all, if you need some quick grub, stop in here on your way through. Price was pretty fair, 2 burgers, and an appetizer with ice teas for $50. Decent. read more

But fear not, my land-loving carnivores -- their burgers are legit too. The drinks? On point. I'm convinced they put magic (and possibly happiness) in their margaritas -- best in town, hands down. We ate here and at Ale's steakhouse across town and they are very similar to me in terms of value, though they do differ. First, the good. It's nice that there is a restaurant in town with fresh fish. Our server was awesome. We were going to a tiki themed place (which you should 100% try to find if you are in town) afterwards and the server shared some cool info about it when we mentioned it. I ordered fish and chips, against my better judgement, and it was just OK. I'm a fan of beer batter that builds up more than a thin crust on the fish, and this wasn't that. On top of that, the cod was a little over cooked (a bit of a theme for the other Ale's as well). That said, the flavor profile was good and their tartar sauce was on point. I had the option for seasoned fries or steak fries and opted for the steak fries to save some sodium intake. I'd probably shorten my life slightly and get the seasoned fries next time. My wife had a salad that was very similar to the other Ale's -- lots of iceberg lettuce and overcooked chicken. We also had the clam chowder, which had a good consistency but was just a touch fishy. I still enjoyed it, though. They have a pretty good selection of beer and other drinks, as well. The decor is informal and overall I liked the place. Between the two Ale's I'd probably give a slight nod to the original, but they are very similar restaurants other than the focus on seafood here. read more

While staying for the night in Ridgecrest, we decided to stop in to Ale's. We came in eyeing the shrimp and lobster fries which was our favorite part of the meal. Kids shared a chicken sandwich, which was ok. Husband and I shared the pastrami burger, which was pretty tasty, loved the pastrami. The restaurant was very clean and had nice hand washing station and some fun decor. Our waitress was not all that friendly, but was very attentive. Ridgecrest is blessed to have Ale's Seafood: seafood done right! No fishy smell here because the seafood is top quality and cooked perfectly. If you avoid fried food you need to know that Ale's hand breads their Seafood. This means you can order yours GRILLED! My favorites are grilled catfish and scallops with lemon pepper. Their coleslaw is delicious so I get double and skip the fries. We frequently go to the Central Coast and even there Ale's Seafood in Ridgecrest is often better! The decor is super fun and reggae music is a beach lover's choice. The servers are great here, so friendly and careful to get it your way. Friends, if you are on your way to Death Valley or find yourself in Ridgecrest, stop here. Amazing friendly service and a fun atmosphere. It is in a very unassuming strip mall but it's bright and cheerful on the inside with wooden tables and plastic bibs! Two of us got the Po' boy and praised the light and airy batter. It wasn't heavy and the shrimp was excellent quality. The bread was a little soggy but who cares when the shrimp was so good. Fries were the standard side. The shrimp tacos were grilled and came with a side of fries or white rice. Interesting. I had the shrimp boil. You could add on rice, corn or sausage and get your choice of seafood, seasoning and spice level. I ordered the combo seasoning but it was a little salty. But somehow the grease and seasoning on the corn in the cob mixed with the steamed rice was epic. Definitely be sure to try any of the boils. I washed all of it down with a Negro modelo draft. Ribeye steaks were delicious, seasoning was perfect and cooked just like we like them.

An unexpected seafood find in the dessert. Nautical industrial decor, clean and comfortable dining area. Staff was friendly, and service was attentive. My only negative on the food was that their catfish fillets were not completely cleaned, and they had some of the dark mud vein still attached. You could get around it, but it leaves an off taste to an otherwise nice piece of fish. Cod and clams were cooked perfectly. Batter was crisp and not greasy, served with slaw, corn and fries. Now let's talk about the Giant score for the night. Deep friend lobster tails. Holy smokes they are delicious!!! 11 out of 10 would make the hour and a half drive for home just for these. Two tails pulled way from shells and then breaded in a season batter and deep fried to crisped perfection. It's on the appetizer menu, served with a pile of fries. Fabulous. First I'll say food and drinks at this place are alright. However I will not be supporting this business because of the service I received. First I think it's rude for a waitress to interrupt me when I'm talking with someone JUST to ask me what my business with the group I'm with is. I informed her I was a partner of someone there, again, not that it's her business to know. Then after the snobby look she gave me, she proceeded to then go tell my partner nasty things about me behind my back when I wasn't at the table, which is extremely out of line! If I ran this place I'd fire a server like her. That's not her place to pry into A PAYING CUSTOMERS private affairs and then to talk about them behind their back to hit on their partner! We drove over from Bakersfield last Saturday. This is a place we really enjoy and the food has been very good. Usually we get a boil with crawfish peeled shrimp clams, and mussels. The food as always was very good. Our waitress left during our meal and "handed us off" to another waitress. Our food was satisfactory so we ordered another to take home. For two boils and drinks our order was $154. We did receive DGAF service for the food we ate there. The second food was presented to the table to go, in a bag, ready to take home. We also asked for a to go bowl to take some of the food home. They bought us a Styrofoam box to take away a soupy liquid dish home. A recipe for a fucking mess. So anyhow we poured the soupy food into the inappropriate container. The bill was presented and we left cash, $155 for the food and $25 cash for the tip. The tip in my opinion was for the DGAF service for the food we ate here. Not for the to go order. So the "new" waitress comes to the table and saw the tip and did not say thank you, come back, nothing. It may have been due to some type of offence with the tip, I do not know. But this is the first time we have not felt valued as customers here, and it will be a long time before we come back. Many many places to spend our money, no reason to spend it where we do not feel valued as customers. I've only been here twice because I'm not big into seafood but both times I had really good service and the food was delicious. The interior of the restaurant is decorated in a really cute and unique way. But... I wouldn't want to be inside in an earthquake... just because there's a boat hanging from the ceiling lol. To be fair, it looks like it's securely attached. The first time I got fish and chips. It was a giant fried fish fillet and I enjoyed it because it was cooked really well being crispy on the outside but still juicy on the inside. Been wanting to try this place since they've opened. I'm sure glad I did!! We ate at the bar and our server was Elias and he was great!! Even though he was super busy on this Friday night he still managed to give us great service. We started off with some oysters and spicy Moscow mules. Both were delicious. The oysters were some good,salty and yummy I could have eaten about 1,000 of them. Then for dinner we got the boil which came with, snow crab,mussels,shrimp,and craw fish. Also some corn on the cob, potatoes,and sausage. All for $80 bucks which is a pretty good deal. We got so much fish we were able t9 take some home. We got all the seasoning and made it spicy as well. Not an overly busy night. Definitely a bulk of patrons being the usual diners. You can tell by the exemplary service they received versus others. Food was mediocre and to be expected. So I'm going to start out by saying the customer service has always been great. Never had a bad experience with service there. I'm giving It a 3 because I do enjoy getting their grilled shrimp tacos on taco Tuesday, those are good. However, that is the ONLY good thing there. I've never liked their seafood boils (and I'm a big seafood person) I went in not long ago with my friend and ordered crabcakes, catfish and gumbo. The crabcakes were burnt. The sauce that came with it was good though. The catfish was gross, no elaboration needed there. And the gumbo was not what anyone would expect when ordering gumbo. This was a super watery soup with little pieces of chopped up shrimp in it and chicken that looked like it would've came out of a Campbells chicken noodle soup can. Super bland, with a tiny bit of rice hanging out at the bottom. Not enough to even notice. On the menu it does say there is sausage in it, but when I received mine it had none in there. I asked the waitress why there was no sausage in it as it says on the menu, and she said the kitchen says they are out. Don't wanna waste my money at that place. Would only suggest going if you like grilled shrimp tacos, they're fairly priced too on Tuesdays. read more
