First off, I came across Tacos el Gordito on yelp and immediately knew that's where we wanted to grab dinner from. We went to the dolphin avenue location that was listed and couldn't find it, so I called the number listed and got the voicemail. Quickly they called me back and sent me the address of where they were in the evening, at 1033 W Inyokern Rd, which was so kind and I appreciated that service! Immediately upon arrival, you are greeted by the picture of their beautiful family on the outside of the truck and we quickly learned the story of their "Gordito" and how they have run their business in honor of their late son. Before we had even tried a bit of their incredible food, we were already touched by the story and meaning behind their business! And then, we ate the food and oh my goodness was it delicious! We got the quesabirria combo (must try!!!) and then three tacos- pescada, carne asada, and barbacoa. We devoured it all and were in awe of how delicious it is. What an honor it was to meet this incredible couple, learn about the amazing way they honor their son, and enjoy their delicious food. Seriously, EFF snow cones…read more.. To anyone that that tries to pass off a snow cones as Hawaiian shaved ice should have their snow cone shoved up any orifice below their waist... Hawaiian shaved ice is a beautiful, fluffy experience that has a wonderful effect on your tongue...Snow cones are coarse, crunchy crap that you get at second rate fairs... Tutu's is the only place I've been to that still does Hawaiian shaved the way it's supposed to...Light, fluffy and HUGE...They don't skimp on the syrup either...If I can recommend a flavor, I'd have to go with blackberry...Experiment...Play around... The Dole whip is also a wonderful palate cleanser that is just amazing...Whipped pineapple soft serve is probably the best way to describe it, but I would say the best way to know it is to experience it... They also have ice cream brought in from Hawaii... Being that I was stationed in Hawaii and I trolled around to get as fat as possible before I returned to the states, I must say that Hawaiian ice cream is super rich compared to their mainland counterparts...White chocolate, coconut and macadamia nuts? When she arrived home with the bag of food; there were no salsas. Boy was I pissed. That!s like fries without catsup, or soda without ice. So I have down graded them to three stars, and will go to El Gorditas food truck from now on. It's so sad too, because they had thee best salsa in town; but it does me no good if they will not provide it.
