The staff here are all nice and carry the local charm Lugo's emits in spades. We stopped by here as a detour from the 395 and decided to hungrily dig into breakfast. My friend got the veggie omelette while I got the super breakfast burrito. The burrito was decently made and meant to be eaten with fork and knife as oppose to one fit for two hands, but still enjoyable. My friend also liked his omelette a great deal. Went here last night for dinner, since breakfast is always good. The service was very slow. It took a waitress over 10 minutes to get our order. That was after getting drinks. Food was all from a bag or box. Cook on my burger was inconsistent, part good and part not done. They didn't have everything we wanted and had to substitute. It was over not something I would expect. Took my kids to breakfast yesterday and Miguel was amazing. He went out of his way to make us all feel welcomed. He even paid extra attention to the kids and brought them extra fruit just because. My husband and I frequent there in Saturday's but don't usually take the kids. I decided to treat the kids since they were being so helpful with packing and helping me get the house ready since we are selling and moving out of the area. I've not from RC .but I come quite often to visit wife's family. I never eat in this town. I always get sick from any other establishment I've eaten previous to here. So I've learned to snack only along the way..but,i can honestly say this best place in RC to eat. My daughter and my friends and I went to Lugo's Grill this morning for breakfast and it was really good food and very good service even though they were very busy. I got the Ortega Chile and cheese omelet with hash browns and a biscuit and gravy. It was very delicious. My daughter got the veggie skillet with toast and she really enjoyed it also. My friend's daughter had the banana split pancakes which looked so yummy, and she really liked them. One of my friends had the veggie omelet with hash browns and a biscuit and gravy and another friend had the Huevos Rancheros. All of us really enjoyed our food and had great service. Interesting little place. Interior is kind of like Pizza Hut, Denny's and a sports bar had an illicit 3-way, Wombat Style (of course), one dark and stormy night with Lugo's being the resulting Love Child....not bad, just different and kinda charming in an oddly, quirky way. Have to say, my tuna melt seriously lacked flavor, even after adding salt and pepper and the bottom side of the toasted bread was a HUGE Sog-Fest. The seasoned fries, that are supposed to be "Great"? Looked great, all seasoned-fry-like and all, but tasted like regular fries (albeit marginal tasting fries) just a little crispier. BF's meaty breakfast burrito was strangely, just that. It was like a oval shaped mass of ground beef, that was actually well seasoned and pretty flavorful, but nothing else...all wrapped up in a tortilla. Hu? There was guacamole, sour cream and salsa served on the side. The salsa was actually pretty damn tasty. Service was fairly prompt and friendly, although BF said it is by far the WORST watered down coffee EVER. I'll say 2.5 and round up to 3 simply because the effort was there and in a town like RC, that goes a long way. Choices there are few and far between and while not the best. The sandwhich comes with au jus on the side. The slice of prime rib is much bigger than the huge buttered slices of bread it comes with. Up here on a business trip and we thought a little steak dinner would hit the spot. Well, that's what we got -- a little steak dinner. They were out of our first choice for steak, had stopped offering our second choice for steak but they had the third choice, lucky us. Although they advertised quality black angus steaks it wasn't much of a steak, was full of gristle and not all that great. The veges must have been out ouf a frozen bag and were steamed to death. I got onion rings which were also out of a frozen bag. Oh, the servers were just as nice and friendly as they come and I really should score them another star just for that but the steak just isn't worth it. There's a bar, but it doesn't seem very functional as its in a common travel path and there's no room to really pull out the chairs that are there. The cash register is also behind the chairs with a few feet in between so customers line up there to pay. My food came in a reasonable amount of time. It was the perfect amount. It was very good although my only.complaint is that the potatoes slightly even touched a skillet. Not browned or crispy at all and no spice or flavor except for the oil they were cooked in. For the most part is was a good meal, but I'll probably keep searching for a better breakfast place. I would definitely come back here for a cup of coffee and biscuits and gravy! read more

The waitress made us feel like we were a bother and she would rather be anywhere but there helping us. I had to ask someone else for a refill since I was sitting there without a drink for over half my meal. I also had to flag down someone else to ask for ranch for my chicken. We sat there waiting for almost 10 minutes after we were done eating to get our check to be able to go. We got to listen to the people in the booth next to us swear and be loud and no one asked them to quiet down or tell them it was a family establishment. there was a couple with young children across from us and they also didn't care to hear bullsh*t and f*ck coming out of thier mouths. My favorite diner / family restaurant in Ridgecrest!!! They recently replaced the tables and it looks quite nice, at least for Ridgecrest. They have a full bar (with good and inexpensive margaritas $2.50!) and a full mexican menu as well. I love the carne asada sopes and enchiladas. I took my son here for a celebratory dinner after his piano recital and what a mistake. The menu is confusing; is this American grill or Mexican? I got the tenders and fries because who can mess that up right? They did! The tenders were gross and my fries were burnt. Not a couple, all of them! My wife got to Taquitos and it was smothered with sour cream and guacamole. The beans were gross and and the rice was nasty. The shrimp scampi is shrimp soaked in pesto. The burrito hardly had meat but my son grill cheese was okay. The alcoholic beverages are a disaster as well. I had a Margarita that came without salt and black stuff on my lime. The service is slow even when business is slow, which it was when I dined there. Just not a good place to eat. read more
