We have always enjoyed this tea house, until we ordered via DoorDash which is a newer option. The scone was no longer included and was very small with a more doughy texture and no lemon curd included, the Italian lemon cake had zero lemon flavor and was thrown out. The scone was a seasonal pumpkin but I would rather a traditional one with the lemon curd. The chicken salad had a much smaller scoop than in the past and no strawberries or blueberries as advertised. The cannolis were good but everything else was disappointing from someone who has eaten there multiple times. Proving exactly how deserving this establishment is of a one star review. Original review: Had a reservation on August 24th for my mom's birthday at 5pm. I drove 3 hours from down the hill for this reservation, my mom and I were both really looking forward to getting a pot of tea, and tea sandwiches, and mini desserts. I called beforehand around 3:30pm to ask if they could do something for my mom's bday reservation at 5pm. The woman suggested they could put a candle in the plate of mini desserts (which gave me the impression we would be getting a tea package that included that). We arrive at like 4:45pm and they don't open till 5pm, so we sit in the car and wait with the AC on. We get out of the car at 5pm and knock. Nobody answers the door. The sign in the window still says closed. It's literally like 95 degrees and we're sweating standing here waiting for them to open the doors. We realized the gate was open to the side and went through there. No clue why there was no SIGN to direct people that way, that was the first frustrating red flag. Passed through a cute patio, got up to a sign that says "Please wait to be seated"... but there's nobody there. It was so confusing. I guess they saw us on the cameras and the server came out right away. Immediately I could tell she had a bad attitude, but we were trying to roll with it. Mentioned we were waiting at the front door and the server (instead of apologizing and acting like she cared at all) chose to act like we were dumb for not knowing to go through the garden. How would anyone who's never been there KNOW that?? Place was pretty cute inside, but not a fan of the black seat covers. Not appropriate vibes for a tea house IMO. More like black tie wedding vibes. They let us pick the room we wanted to sit in, we picked the room with the white chairs. Fresh flowers on the tables, very cute. Server set our menus down.. and after looking it over, we were both totally dumbfounded. No tea packages on the menu? I mean kinda sorta one, but not vegetarian or pescatarian. It's literally a dinner menu, with entrees and sides... like a RESTAURANT. We are like wtf, it's a tea house during the day, and restaurant at night? We ask our lovely server and again get more attitude, and treated like we're morons. Almost everything on the menu had meat in it, and the few items that didn't sounded weird and not like things we would eat. We're pretty basic with our food - and neither of us do smoked salmon. I guess we weren't good enough for this place? That was definitely the vibe the server gave off. We ended up deciding to go somewhere else. Initially my mom felt bad about leaving when we had a reservation (and the place was empty)... but when we were leaving and told the server they might want to let people know when making a reservation that you can't get tea packages in the evening... she rudely chose to respond with "It's posted everywhere".... really?? Are you kidding me? We did NOT feel bad leaving after that disgusting response. I wish I knew this lady's name... although I'm sure the owners will know. Pretty sure there was only one server this evening. And man, this woman does NOT belong in customer service. I was a server for years, and I would NEVER speak to a customer like that. I mean seriously, in the phone call my mom made to make the reservation... AND in my phone call that afternoon about my mom's birthday... not once did they explain it's a dinner menu and the tea house turns in a restaurant?! Who would go to a TEA HOUSE for dinner? Makes no sense - exactly why the place was empty. My mom went here before and had a lovely time, during the afternoon for tea. But holy moly, the setup and service at night is awful. read more

What an amazing hidden gem in ridgecrest. The food was delicious and each order comes with your very own pot of tea. They have 130 different kinds of teas. I chose the raspberry vanilla. The hubby got the French press coffee instead of tea. I got the creamy Artichoke bagel and he got the smoked salmon. Just went here for dessert night last week, which they do on Thursday evenings and it was lovely. It's such a cute little place. Service was friendly and attentive. We got blueberry crumble tea which was delicious! I will be back to buy some! We got the charcuterie board for two, panna cotta with peach compote and cheesecake bites. Everything tasted really good. The cheesecake bites are covered in both white chocolate and milk chocolate. The cheddar cheese with peppers on the charcuterie was my favorite! Tea is served in various cozy little pots. I ordered just hot water for a refill but was given a second pot of the same tea. Thinking there were free refills I ordered another. Our bill was not tiny at $72.00. (My second pots of tea were $7. each which I felt was exorbitant. If you crave a cute and funky atmosphere make a reservation here. But don't come here hungry. I visited My Enchanted Cottage the day after the 7.1M earthquake. We are from Northern California and were visiting family in Inyokern-we had never been to Ridgecrest before-first time and wanted to find something fun to do. I came across My Enchanted Cottage on Facebook events. When we first got there we went through the side gate because the gift shop had broken items and they were still cleaning it up. When we arrived there was 2 others tables occupied (total of 5 guests). Our server was sweet, wish I remembered her name. There was a gentlemen two tables over from us drinking mimosas-I realized it was the owners husband. The owner Marcela came out of the kitchen a few times to talk to her husband and the locals-never once introduced herself to us. We arrived at 10:35AM, our order was taken around 11:05AM and we were service around 12PM. Keep in mind we had a 5 yr old and a 5 mo old who sat and behaved while we waited. Again, this may have been due to the quake, but if you are not cleaned up and prepared to serve guests, you should stay closed until you are-as many other places were closed in the area. My husband, myself, and our daughter shared an entree (Marcela's Special for $25). My father in law ordered a quiche plate and my mother in law got a tea sandwich plate. We also ordered 3 mimosas. Our bill total was $116 and we were still hungry when we left. The cost vs. portion size does not match up. The sandwiches were OK, the salad was OK, and the desserts were really good. After we ate, we decided to go into the gift shop. I told my daughter she could pick out a souvenir. She grabbed an item (tea holder) trying to figure out how it worked and pulled it apart where it should have not been pulled apart. Claire, the lady that works the shop snapped at my daughter "UM! I don't think she should be doing that". I turned around realized what she was doing and apologized. My mother in law then said "Sorry! We can pay for it if you need us to". Without hesitation Clarie replied "Yes, we can't resell that item". Ok, so this is a first.. I expected Claire to say "No, worries" since this type of stuff does happen and companies do have insurance for this sort of thing. After the restaurant experience and then this, we were done with this place. We paid for the item and walked out. Bummer because there were a few items we wanted to get including tea for ourself + gifts. My MIL was about to spend around $100 here. Got to the car, I then fixed the item (it worked perfect), and MIL went back into the gift shop to exchange it for the one she really wanted (not even asking for a refund). Wellll the story gets better. Claire grabbed the one my MIL brought back and another one and shook them both-she then said the one we brought back was still broken. This lady is seriously crazy. Ive worked in retail and I would never act like this to a customer. It was completely rude. She even called the owner, explained to Marcela what happened, and my MIL heard the owner say "WHATEVER". Worst customer service. The idea is super cute, but the customer service ruined it for us + the cost is terrible. This place caters BEST TO LOCALS and DOES NOT SERVE TOURISTS. If you are visiting the area DO NOT come here. read more

They bring you a tasting of 8 different tea sandwiches and dessert pastries. It also comes with a delicious salad with a home made vinaigrette dressing and a homemade scone with preserves and cream. You get unlimited hot tea and with this meal you can switch your tea around. The Marcella blend was my favorite and the chamomile too. It's the perfect intimate place to go with your hubby. My best friend and I brought our moms here for brunch this past Mother's Day and it was an absolutely lovely experience for all of us! The brunch included a quiche, fresh fruit, a lavender scone with lemon curd and white chocolate cream, a chia berry parfait, and a choice of tea, coffee, or mimosa. The entire meal was divine! The quiche was very fluffy and flavorful, the fruit was so sweet, and the scone with the curd and cream was my favorite out of them all! I also ordered a pot of the New York tea and it was pleasantly sweet and it didn't even need cream or sugar (in my opinion). This place is super cute & charming! Driving through Ridgecrest I had to stop here after hearing good things from people about this place. I love independent owned small business and this place is also run by mother & daughter (in training). It was a busy Saturday evening as they were having a kids tea party but the owner quickly told us that if we waited a couple minutes she could set a table for us. We used the time to look around the shop, she has tons of cute little items for sale including loose tea. When our table was ready we were guided through the shop to the back where there was a second cottage decorated very cute. The service: Great service, just enough attention to make you feel at home but not intrusive. Food: Way too many choices of teas, took me a while to choose but finally narrowed it down to a pot of Razzle Dazzle which was serve in this cute tea pot & set in a teapot warmer, we also went with a choice of sample desserts which were amazing, had to order my own as I was not going to share. Not sure how often I will find myself on this side of town but I will definitely make a stop here again. We left with a couple of tins of loose tea and it does say that if you bring your tin back you get a discount so that's a good excuse to come back! read more
