They have the normal Panda Express-style line with fried rice, chow mein, and all the usual favorites, but you can even serve yourself starting at just $4.99/lb. But the real good stuff happens when you order off the menu! I got the lunch special for $13.50, which came with an egg roll, choice of soup, Kung Pao chicken, and egg fried rice. Everything was so good! Great flavor, generous portions, and an awesome value for the price. Service was great too. Everyone was friendly and took good care of me. Just a heads up, there are only two tables inside, so plan accordingly if you're hoping to dine in. Great food, great service, and great value. Definitely five stars from me. I am always on the lookout for new restaurants in my work area and was indecisive as to what to have for lunch this particular day. I decided upon Chinese; however, I did not want a chain like Panda Express. I placed my order online and was pleasantly surprised that there was no option to prepay (only in the restaurant). I chose an early pick-up time and I was the only customer and was able to get in and out of there quickly. The cashier was very friendly as well. As for the food, I ordered the kung pao chicken lunch special which came with an egg roll and soup and it was ok. It could have used more flavor and it was not spicy at all. I chose the hot and sour soup and I must say that was very flavorful! I also ordered a kung pao beef lunch special for my co-worker and he did not care for it and he found the same hot and sour soup too spicy for his liking. The food was decent, but the value just wasn't there for me. I actually like the concept of paying by the weight. It's cool being able to try a little bit of everything instead of getting the usual 2 item combo. I ended up trying 4 different items, which was definitely a plus. But as a big boi who likes to eat, $20 and change for one plate of Chinese food that didn't even fill me up is tough to justify. The portions weren't very generous, and since you're paying by weight, the price adds up pretty quickly. I like the idea and enjoyed being able to sample different dishes, but when I'm paying $20+ for a plate, I expect to leave feeling full. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case here. So it's a small tuuuucked away place. They have their own parking. It's like a Chinese buffet had one of their tables out with what they think are the bangers. Not wrong in their choice, but the quality has to be taken into account. I got my faves and I specifically came here for coconut shrimp b/c those are hard to find in Chinese fast food. They're by wt is less than a Chinese buffet would charge and is similar to fast food, but less food. You have to take into acct what items you get and what weighs heavy as a food item. Think yogurt land toppings, which are airy light as opposed to dense and heavy. It is $5/lb as opposed to $20/lb at a buffet. My container was probably around $10-15? I forget but I had two containers and they came out to .. $25? I wanna say. Came I wanna say on a Tuesday? So they put out minimal amts of food so as to not waste I think product, but it felt some items were left out too long and not as fresh as they could be. I like that they have popcorn chicken and plantains. Their coconut shrimp coating was soggy..mushy...had been awhile hanging out. Now the bad part...my hubby did get food poisoning. After he ate what i got him he threw up and it was pretty bad...so I had to give them a low score. It could've been an off day, not sure. But the freshness of quality was not there the day I came. I did not get sick, my hubby had the kung pao an coconut shrimp so not sure what it was. Could've been the shrimp cauz it has mayo in it or condensed milk? I forgot the recipe. Just ate here last night. Food is made in smaller batches which was great, all of it was still fresh. Chicken was crispy and not overly breaded. Chow mein was not overly greasy. Spring rolls were okay, could have had a touch more filling but definitely not bad. Kung Pao chicken was great Fried rice was our least favorite, but not bad. Great and unique spot. Food is made in smaller portions so it's always fresh. You're given the unique option of pay per pound or the classic entree and sides. Value wise I would say it's pretty good. I got the coconut shrimp entree with chow mein, $15.50 for the portion, and my partner opted for the pay by the plate and got 1 pound. You're not gonna get your plate stuffed like some Chinese places do but I feel like I got well enough for what I paid. Main selling point is that the food quality was really fresh! Also something that is really important to note is I didn't feel awful after eating like I do with most Chinese food places in the area. A con I'd say is it really was dicey with the pay by plate thing, no idea what you'd weigh in at as a first time goer so it's a little bit uneasy. Went there last night for take out. Wife confirmed that price per lb. was $4.99. Total came to $18.69. Got home and weighed on a food scale and it was 2.25 lbs. ...ok? So we were overcharged. Now the taste. It was horrible! Vegetables were under-cooked. Food was over salted and way too much garlic. Egg rolls looked good. Crispy on the outside, but were mushy on the inside. Ended up throwing most of our meal away. Our 1st and last time to "Lucky" Garden. I do feel "lucky" though. I day later, and no food poisoning. Drove by and was confused that this restaurant just appeared out of nowhere! It's a cool self serve like Chinese food selling by the pound, was a little skeptical at first, but def wanted to give it a chance. Well the quality of the food was great, the man that was out front seemed a little nervous about our arrival but immediately called the front of the house worker, who was a lot more customer service oriented. Overall atmosphere was giving modern Chinese, with a touch of old school mom/pop shop. We went to Lucky Garden yesterday for the first time. The girl behind the counter was very nice and welcoming. There was a very big selection to choose from. We really loved the orange chicken and lo mein noodles. The spring roll was delicious. I liked that the food seemed very light and not so oily and heavy. We got 2 dinners for less than $10. I came here thinking I'll pick a menu by the plate like most fast food Chinese restaurants. I was wrong. Before you stuff your plate keep in mind you pay according to how much your food weighs! Could you imagine the embarrassment you get stuffing your plate and after weighing your plate, your bill costs $30.00 or more? You definitely cannot put back some food you've already placed on your plate. . This is how they make their money charging you by the weight of your food.
