Porch and Parlor is one of this year's most memorable meals. I had an amazing experience here. The…read moreambiance, food, drink, and service were exceptional. This is a fine dining steakhouse, and while upscale, it is not pretentious. I felt very welcomed--the hospitality here is stellar. Also, they let you take your time and linger over a meal, which I love. Our server, Gia, was absolutely amazing. If I ever return, I'm sitting in her section. She is an absolute delight. Gia was kind and knowledgeable and really made the evening. I loved the butcher cart and enjoyed being presented with a beautiful selection of knives to chose for dining. The bread and butter is delectable, as is the lobster bisque. I ordered a cup, which was big, but I recommend a bowl. It was velvety and rich, and you'll want more bread for dipping. I ordered a steak from candy-finished cattle, which was delicious. The sear was perfect and Gia recommended a wine that proved a worthy accompaniment. However, dessert was a showstopper. A strawberry-shortcake inspired baked Alaska is the most "me" dessert ever. I will never not order baked Alaska, and I am obsessed with everything strawberry. This dessert was not only gorgeous, but incredible. It might be my favorite dessert ever. This was truly one my more pleasurable meals and dining experiences. If visiting Memphis again, which is a goal, I would absolutely return.

First, the food was excellent. The wagyu deviled eggs, the steak quality and preparation and…read moreespecially the bone marrow au poivre special sauce. The kitchen knocked it out of the park. I could drink that bone marrow au poivre sauce it was so good. Second, my service expectations when spending in excess of $2,000 for a party of seven ($700 of which was wine) are a touch above what I'd expect from a chain steakhouse and I certainly expect honesty that what I order is what I am served. In short, my first-world problem with Porch and Parlor is the vintages on their wine list do not reflect what they serve you. They were zero for two on both bottles I ordered and it matters when you pay $550 for a bottle of 2013 Dom Perignon (served 2017) and $133 for 2019 Heitz Cabernet Sauvignon (served 2022). I caught both instances in real time and the sommelier was crestfallen but powerless. Then I had to pour my own wine after it was decanted and left out of reach on a trolley alongside of our table - my server disappeared for the duration of the meal after food was served and never realized she missed out on the fun. I had to stand up a couple of times, grab a huge, elaborate decanter and awkwardly pour for my guests seated around a circular table (ambience is also very nice there BTW). Autogratuity added 20% tip and I added $100 on top of that because as the host I didn't want my guests to be aware of any issues and they had a great time - I covered for the restaurant's failures and paid a premium to do it. I let a week pass to see if I was still bothered by the experience and I was (am). My first solution was to call the restaurant to ask for the GM's email so I could email him/her, one-to-one, about my experience and keep it out of the public forum. That's what I would have wanted if the shoe were on the other foot. After my first call and a long, long hold I hung up. Waited forty minutes and tried again. After a two minute hold a gentleman named Chris came on the call and asked how he could help. I told him the above story, told him I don't want anything from him other than him to win and be successful which, in my view, includes not misrepresenting wine vintages because real dollars are involved when you say you have something worth $700 and what you sneakily try to serve customers is worth a lot less, service aside. Long story longer, he told me (paraphrasing) "yeah, I hate that for you but it's too much of a pain in the butt to print a fresh wine list so we are just going to keep doing that." Fine. Caveat Emptor for the rest of you who order wine there. Maybe just order the Caymus. For me, being rooked always negates any positive experience I may have had.

Every bite was tender and packed with flavor, making them an unforgettable appetizer. The steak flatbread was equally delicious, layered with tender steak, fresh toppings, and perfectly melted cheese. The cocktails were expertly crafted and worth every sip. If you visit during Happy Hour (Monday-Friday, 3-6 p.m.), don't miss the discounted cocktails, featured wines, draft beers, and appetizer selections. It's one of the better happy hour values in the city. Char Restaurant +1 Then came dessert--the legendary Butter Pecan Cake. This dessert had to be created in heaven. Warm, buttery, rich with toasted pecans, and paired with creamy vanilla ice cream, every bite melted in your mouth. It's easily one of the best desserts in Memphis. Even better, this masterpiece is also served at CHAR's sister restaurant, Amerigo. From the exceptional food and handcrafted drinks to the polished service and elegant atmosphere, CHAR delivers a five-star dining experience from beginning to end. Highly recommended. Order the crab claws, enjoy Happy Hour, and whatever you do... don't leave without the Butter Pecan Cake.

We came in on a Saturday around 5:30 PM, and there was live music playing at the piano, which added such a nice touch to the atmosphere. Football games were on the TVs, drinks were flowing, and the overall vibe was perfect for a Saturday evening. Service was great! Our waitress came over right away with waters and took our cocktail orders. We went with a Lemon Drop and a French 75, and both were delicious! We decided to keep it simple and order a few appetizers--the No Filler Crab Cakes and the crab claws, half fried and half grilled. Everything was SO good! When they say "no filler" on the crab cake, they mean it. It was ALL crab, and the crab claws are always a favorite. Great food, great drinks, great service, and a great atmosphere. We'll definitely be back again!

They're a classic steakhouse and do that very thing at a high level of proficiency. I was tasked with arranging the details for a large birthday dinner for a coworker. Of all the restaurants we contacted, the response from Folk's Folly was the most prompt and thorough. Shelby, their party coordinator, did an excellent job communicating with me, even as our party expanded and had some extra requests that they were able to accommodate. We seated a group of 24 in their Living Room space which is designed for a maximum of 20. It was a little tight, but our group was all friends and family so it worked out great for us. Appetizers were great - calamari, seared ahi, fried pickles, tempura lobster tail. My tomato/onion/blue cheese salad was a tasty way to get the meal going. The sides of garlic and leek mashed potatoes and especially the garlic broccoli were fantastic. A friend of mine said she was still thinking about the sweet potatoes the next day. Everyone enjoyed their entrees as well. Their cocktail menu is a bit cookie cutter, but they had a full range of bottles and were able to accommodate a myriad of drink orders. The wine list is also perfect for a steak house - plenty of affordable glasses as well as higher end bottles. An expansive Cabernet section. The featured Daou wine paired beautifully with my ribeye. Due to the size of our party two servers took care of us - Retha and Kevin. Our party was large and loud and enjoying ourselves. Retha and Kevin did a great job of managing such a large party and working together. They helped make our experience a night to remember. Thank you to Shelby, Kevin, Retha, the hosts, support staff, and kitchen. Shelby went above and beyond to make sure my friend had a good time and all the staff present the night of knocked it out of the park. I look forward to returning to dine with them - it's definitely a good special occasion place, but for anyone that wants to treat themselves it's worth the trip. I also absolutely would recommend anyone looking to book a party to contact them and set something up. The entire experience from my initial contact with them a week and a half ahead of our event all the way to walking out the front door was nothing short of top notch. Thanks again, yall!

So I was excited to come try something else. On the plus side, the bathroom was so nicely decorated. It was also very clean. I sat at the end of the bar, beside the little section of books. The bartender was nice. I ordered the Ember&Passion cocktail. Although it was pretty good, it was quite mild. Unexpected with the ingredients in it. I was surprised that the level of expected heat was not very detectable. I give it 7/10. When I came here before in the winter, the temperature was perfect and I don't remember being too bothered that they don't have cocktail napkins. But yesterday it was quite warm in the restaurant and not having these napkins wasn't good. Nobody in the restaurant had any type of napkin under any drink! I noticed that just like mine, every glass of water from every patron had a puddle of condensation under the glass. Each time I picked up my glass of water, it would drip onto my food and clothes. My two menus got so wet. I suppose they made this decision to save themselves a lot of money. As for the food: My parmesan truffle fries were excellent!! Hot, crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked in the middle. Best I've had in a long time. The Alabama white sauce on the side was just your typical sauce. It tasted just like every other Alabama white sauce that I've had so was not disappointing. But I actually ended up not using it because it was too thin and it didn't add anything to the fries. The fries were excellent enough on their own. I ordered my burger "pink" but there wasn't any pink to it, but I wasn't that bothered about it. Burger and the toppings were tasty, except for the fried green tomato. Looking closely at the picture, you can see that it was SO SMALL compared to the size of the burger. When a restaurant does that, don't they realize that it makes for a glaring disappointment?! It apparently came from near the end of the tomato, and not the middle. If you are going to offer a fried green tomato on a burger, then I feel as if you should only use the larger slices of the tomato, and save the smaller ends for maybe putting in salads. I've always been obsessed with fried green tomatoes. After having my first two bites of burger and still not reaching the tomato, I took it off to eat by itself. Sadly, it tasted terrible! I was surprised. Obviously, they didn't season the tomato or the batter. (Salt and pepper go a long way.) The burger toppings apparently made the tomato batter not only soggy, but also this strange thick texture. Like mushy and chewy at the same time. 1/10 Worst problem: FLIES!!! So many flies! When I just had my drink but no food yet, I noticed them but was not bombarded by them at that point. It wasn't until my food came. All of a sudden I was literally surrounded by them. They were everywhere! No exaggeration. I actually had to use only one hand to eat and the other hand to constantly move back and forth over my food. I eventually gave up and set the plate of some of my fries about 4 inches in front of my burger in order to hopefully draw the flies to the fries so that I could eat my burger. Unfortunately, after only four bites of my burger, when I set it down to take a drink of water, a fly landed on it within one second. Obviously, that was my last bite, and even when I was moving the plate closer to the end of the counter, two more flies landed on it. The glass of straws was inches from me. That, and the book closest to me seemed to be where they gathered to wait for their opportunity to dive bomb me. So many of them! It turned my stomach when I realized that I had been drinking from a straw with my water and I'm sure there had been flies on it before I got there. Every person that gets a straw in their drink at this restaurant has had a fly sitting on top of it. When the bartender told me about the desserts, it turned my stomach to think of just how many flies were in the kitchen. Had I known the fly situation was that bad when I first got my drink, I would have never stayed there, and I certainly would have never ordered food. I do think it is a real shame because the winter months are a totally different experience in that restaurant. But because of how horrible it was this time, I just can't ever come back.

That pecan-crusted fish deserves its own round of applause! Now, let's talk about that bread! Because why is something so simple SO GOOD? And the carrot cake? A sweet ending that makes you forget you were already full! We decided to sit at the bar this time, and the experience was just as enjoyable. One thing I can always count on at Stoney River is extraordinary service! The hospitality is consistently impressive, whether dining at a table or enjoying a meal at the bar. He gave great recommendations and kept the drinks full while always checking on us. The signature rolls are complimentary and were like little savory donut holes with honey butter. Almost like a dessert to start with. They had a nice crunch on the outside with a super soft center just like a donut hole. We started with the steak rolls that come served on a chimichurri sauce and are paired with a spicy ranch dressing this appetizer is nothing short of amazing! I highly recommend you start with these. It seemed like everyone in the restaurant was getting these. I had the 7 ounce filet with Christian's recommended Au Poivre sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly and had a great flavor without the sauce, but the sauce definitely put it over the top. It is quite peppery which I loved, but I could see that it might be too much for some. I opted for the sweet potato casserole as my side dish and it was perfectly sweet with a nice brown sugar pecan topping that gave it a nice crunch. My husband had the ribeye as it comes with the Gouda Mac and cheese. He said the steak was a little too lean for him and he would have preferred more marble. He loved the Mac and cheese though and would definitely get it as his side again. Overall it was a great experience and I will definitely be back. It is on the pricier side, so we can't come every weekend, but I definitely loved it and will add it to the special occasion rotation.

Ordered the Butchers Bacon Rack (similar to Porch &Parlor but NOT), when asked, he could not tell us the difference in flavors, not a good experience to even know which we liked or did not. Perhaps this is a learning opportunity/retraining for the restaurant. He was not knowledgeable of the many things. It offers 1st job or owner's son type of job. The entree's were basic at best, the 20% gratuity for the service received did not align and restaurants do that on purpose. There isn't an incentive for waitstaff to offer above and beyond experiences. I had the Crab Stuffed Shrimp, I cannot recall anything memorable (see photo).
