What's wrong with me? I'm like hitting all these American Chinese food restaurants ... and loving it! Omg. I need to head back to the motherland next summer and get grounded. But for now, I really liked the food here. And I got ... general tso chicken! Ahhhhh! Yes, I'm shameless. I liked it too. This small store-front only has 4 tables. Their business focus is on carry-out. We were traveling through Memphis, this place was close to the hotel and it was pouring rain. What a lucky find! Any time I walk into a restaurant and can see all the way through the kitchen, my hopes for a good meal begin to soar. There were 5 men cooking, hustling to produce good meals. Tried this place after reading the reviews this past week. In a nutshell, it's good not great takeout Chinese. The fried rice was spot on, very tasty cooked perfectly. I had the Mongolian beef, way too many onions. Nice and spicy, decent flavor but the onions were overpowering. Also had the sweet and sour chicken which was very good. Quick fried and crunchy and the sauce was really good. We will try different dishes next time and review again. read more

Terribly unfortunate experience. I've seen this place for a while as I live nearby, but I've never stopped. Today I decided to try them out as my other spot was closed. I ordered 2 orders of shrimp fried rice, shrimp egg foo young, veggie low mein and spicy hot veggies, along with some crab ragoon for $65. Got home and the the moment I opened the first container of rice I noticed a smell that wasn't particularly aromatic. It wasn't sour per se but it definitely wasn't alluring. The same was true with each container I opened. Not wanting to be a grump, I made plates for my family and sat down to eat. The first bite was terrible. It tasted like it smelled. Kinda old, kinda musty, kinda like dirty dish towels or something. The Egg Foo You has the worse I've ever had. I'm not a big return food guy, but this was going to be a huge waste so I called and let them know I was returning it. Upon my return the guy tried to tell me I'd eaten the food, which was obviously not the case as each container was at least 90-100% full. After a back and forth he returned $46 which was ok with me as I did eat the crab ragoon and some of the rice was in my bowl at home. I had to show the guy a picture (shown) of the food still sitting in the bowl at home. Ultimately he told he he wouldn't serve me again, which is perfectly fine considering the food was not good and smelled bad. I'll never visit again. But at least now when I pass it up, I KNOW it isn't somewhere to stop. read more

A solid 4-stars, chiefly based on price and value. Green China has been a go-to for years for me. Not as good as some other, more costly Asian places nearby, but for the money, it's quick and pretty good. Nothing flashy here, pretty standard fare as far as the selection goes, but there's something to be said in my book for that. In COVID times, props to them for making the front door into a walk-up window in the spirit of social distancing. As for the fare: the Wok specials are a steal. Entree, egg roll or soup, and white, brown, or stir-fried rice. The curry + meat or Kung pow options are my usuals; both good, and (same with everything else on the menu), they'll cater to your preference as far as spice heat levels. I enjoy a pretty high level of spice, and they do a good job of getting a dish to where I like it. I'd also recommend the moo shu. You get your choice of meat, thinly sliced, along with cabbage, carrots, scallions (I think), mushrooms (which typically I find as appetizing as a firm but chewy cardboard), and that narrow dark colored non-descript Asian fungus stuff. It comes with 5 or 6 rice wraps and black bean sauce, all to be used to construct the dish as you see fit. Very enjoyable. The orange chicken is another highlight on the menu. Not too much acidity, and generously sized pieces of chicken- it's not like they try to short you on protein. Overall, the food is a 3-3.25, but the portion size and expediency at which it's ready a 5 just an overall 4 rating from me. In other words good, not great, but I'll keeping coming back. read more

The price seems fair. When I try an new place I try the same thing every time. For this is was crab Rangoon and Mongolian Beef. There's a few seats but it's a mostly a take out place. Said it would be 10 minutes but I think it was 5 at most. Just long enough to fry the Crab Rangoon, it was good. 4/5 for that. Still hot when I got back to the house. The Mongolian Beef. That would be a 2/5. Had carrots, green peppers green onions snow peas and mushrooms. None of the red chillies you'd expect and a lot of other things you would expect. I think this was filler because of beef prices. It wasn't bad but it's not what I wanted. I think I'll try a few other places before I cuticle back around and try it again read more

Sigh...we're just not having a good first impression of the Memphis area. The food is not completely hateful, but definitely not very good. I called our order in, and they said 15mins, we were 10mins away, our food was ready when we got there, but by the time we got back to the hotel, it was luke warm - now, I've never had Chinese to-go and it be luke warm by the time I came home...Chinese food is always hot somehow lol! The staff was very friendly and ensured they repeated my order to make sure they had everything correct...hence the 2nd star! I would not recommend or go back myself. read more

I'm rounding this one up to three stars based on the extreme value. It was $7.00 tax included. The food was very so so. I was excited after the first few bites only to be let down more and more as the thick heavy sauce soaked in and removed all crunchiness of the chicken. The dish was a mushy mess in about 5-6 minutes after it arrived and I just gave up. Hot and Sour soup was absolutely the worst I have ever had. They did give me 16 ounces of it. Too bad it was awful! Great value, just not what I like... They serve the standard random mystery chicken parts in their dishes that you will find at places similar to this. Sometimes the meat is so dark I am really not certain it's chicken. I'm not sure what it could be though. It would have to be cheaper than chicken if it were advantageous to use. All in all, it deserved a lower rating if compared to other Chinese places but it is what it is, cheap, filling, and where it is. There isn't another place near here serving American Chinese food. It's not bad but it's not great either. I ordered lo mien and it tastes more like instant ramen noodles I think they over did the sodium or something. As for the beef I expected it to be spicy and saucy but instead it was majority vegetables and black pepper. Overall it wasn't the taste I expected or wanted. read more

Plenty of food and all authentic and fresh tasting. They're set-up for the current conditions with a single serve takeout station. Employees in masks and hand sanitizer available while you checkout. I ate here 3 days in a row. I think that should be an indicator of really good and fresh food. The staff was amazing. They actually remember your order from the day prior. The food was ready super fast and it was super good. As I go through the no-meat thing, I needed some flavor and rice. They packed my order of veggie rice with all the veggies and delicious seasoned rice. I came back because it was also very affordable. Tried this place for the first time Friday night. To go order. The Shrimp lobster sauce dinner was terrible! It was watery and lacking flavor. The shrimp was not cooked all the way and please if you can't use real lobster just leave it out! The white rice that came with it was dry. The vegetable fried rice was terrible, had no flavor whatsoever. I ordered a couple of eggrolls...they have huge shells but are lacking stuffing. Needless to say, I did not like this place.
