    Lowells Famous Fish & Chips

The restaurant is three levels with one being a bar and another being the sit down portion. Service took a little bit, but they are quite busy so it's understandable. I ordered a cup of clam chowder ($10) as well as the fish and chips ($25). I also tried their mimosa and a Fuji apple cider. The cider was absolutely delicious and you can definitely taste the apple and for 8/9 dollars I think it was very good. The mimosa was $13 and it was quite strong but still bearable. The clam chowder was just OK. It wasn't anything special and living in the Bay Area, I have had clam chowder that was better. The fish and chips were also pretty good. Not the juiciest I've ever had, but I do like the outside breading being like a Panko breading rather than one smooth layer Overall, I would rate this place a 5.7/10. The restaurant has a good view. The food is all right. The drinks were good. I just don't think that they were worth the price. I don't think I would come again due to the value, but I would definitely try just to say I've been here

Came here for some clam chowder. Chowder was thick, creamy, well seasoned, and delicious. The view was great too. The cashier was a bit terse and unfriendly but the servers were great! Dont know if id be back but was a great cup of chowder with a view.

Great service, great views and good food. The calamari is melt in your mouth, the fries were rubber and I wanted to not have to eat the one I did. The crab cakes were meaty more than bread and the chowder was good, but could use more clams.

DELISH fish n' chips, def comin' back for this again

Probably the best cooked fish I've ever had in a fish n' chips dish. it was melt-in-your-mouth, OMG. chowder was good too. view are great but most importantly, service was off the hook. front of house was also rockin' it. I'm not sure what's up w the negative reviews. these guys are BUSY & do an amazing job. would def return for the fish n' chips next time I'm in Seattle :)

Pike Place Fish Market was definitely on my Seattle bucket list! I knew I had to try some seafood for lunch. This place is huge, but we stumbled upon Lowell's. The clam chowder caught my eye. We ordered downstairs and headed up to the 3rd floor, hoping for a nice view. The stairs were a bit scary, with servers running up and down, balancing huge trays. We managed to snag the best table for two with a window seat. It took a while to get our food, but it was worth the wait. The Fish & Chips were fantastic--the fish was crunchy, tasty, and delicious. Portion good for two. The clam chowder was super creamy with a good amount of clams. The meal at Lowell's made for a wonderful day at Pike Place.

This was one of the few restaurants at pike place that was open fairly early on a Sunday. The employee at the entrance was friendly and gave us the rundown: order at the counter and if you dine in, sit on the first or third floor & your meal will be delivered to your table. The 2nd floor has a bar and table service. We ordered a bowl of clam chowder and their Dungeness crab Benedict at the counter and chose a table on the 3rd floor. Had a great view of the bay. Is this a tourist trap? Yes. Expensive? Yes. The chowder was ok, used a bit of Tabasco sauce to add some heat and flavor. The Benedict was served with toast and hash browns. It was just ok as well, definitely not worth the hefty $40 price tag.

First time in Seattle and heard great things about this place so my family had to try it out. Love their policy on how you're not allowed to save tables. You have to order first and then the hostess directs you to seating on the first or third levels. The second level is a well stocked bar. We were seated on the third floor and had an amazing view of the Seattle Waterfront. When our plates arrived, they were very large portions. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. There are so many dishes to try we will definitely be back for more.

Great location right at Pike Market- ordering counter downstairs with some seating, but upstairs- that's table service with a view! We weren't sat at the window, we were one table in- but the views were lovely. I ordered a cup of clam chowder and John got the fish-n-chips. The clam chowder was good, but I have most certainly had better and right around the corner. The fish and chips were perfect. John and I shared everything and he agreed with my assessment. Service was fast and friendly. I can't remember if there was an elevator- but be careful on the stairs, the servers are carrying huge trays of food up- I yielded to them.

Great king salmon bagel and lox. Very friendly service that helped out. It was crowded but everything at pikes place is and this is a touristy stop. Beautiful views from the general seating.

The jerk who would not let me bring food into the restaurant even though I am gluten free.

We visited this restaurant today purchasing two cups of clam chowder and an order of fish and chips. I asked my son to grab a table, then I would get something else from another merchant since I am gluten free. This redhead said no, you cannot bring any outside food into this restaurant. What an a**hole. Don't spend your money here.

We walked right in at 9am on a Saturday morning. The host at the front gave us the rundown on self seating upstairs and table service options. We decided on self serve and don't regret it. We were able to get a table on the top level right by the window looking out over Elliot Bay. It was a nice view while dining, but I will say the Washington State ferries provide an even better view for a fraction of the cost. Our food was brought quickly and nothing was missing. Now on to the not so great, before tip two meals (no drinks) came to $62. The combo breakfast was $23, but quickly jumped $9 when adding berries. Did I expect the berries to cost extra? Of course! But not $9 extra. The french toast had the barest hint of cinnamon flavor. I was expecting to be wowed for that price, but it was underwhelming overall. The bacon was very good. The second meal we picked was eggs Benedict. The sauce was made from scratch, so A+ for that, and the hash browns crispy. But all in all, just an average diner breakfast meal. I wouldn't come again at those prices. I'll spend premium money on exceptional food, this missed the mark. The $5 ham and Swiss croissant we had for breakfast from Three Girls Bakery yesterday was on par with this meal.

Stopped by Lowell's Restaurant while at Pike Place and grabbed a table on the second floor--highly recommend doing that if you can. The view alone is worth it. The chowder was the perfect way to kick off our time in Seattle and the breakfast tacos were solid. Nothing overcomplicated, just good, satisfying food. The decor leans very maximalist--lots going on, but it works for the space and adds to the whole Pike Place energy. The staff was quick and efficient, very no-nonsense, which fits the pace of the atmosphere. Great spot to sit, eat, and take in the view while you're in the middle of everything.

Lowell's was our must visit #1 spot on our list while visiting Seattle. At Pike's Place there's so much to see, taste, and to buy. We fortunately stumbled by Lowell's right from the elevator, just our luck! There was a line wrapped around but it moved pretty fast. The service was fast everything moved like a machine. Again we were lucky to also find a table for 6 at the bottom level since they are three. The food came out fast. A bit on the pricy side but you're paying for the view and eating at a tourist spot. We ordered the famous crab melt with fries, a tuna melt, clam chowder and fish and chips. Everyone LOVED their food. I just wasn't a fan of the sauce on the crab melt. It made it soggy for me. I'd definitely return to try another favorite.

Secondarily, the salad was large and a nice palate cleanser w/ the lemon and fresh anchovies. The blonde waitress was really nice and brought me more anchovies. Next was the steamers (clams & mussels). Both shellfish were super fresh and cooked in a mild broth. The only thing missing was some frites. Lastly, the moqueca had a rich broth, and a little bit of rice to balance the broth. There was a ton of fresh seafood, and we dipped the sourdough baguette to mop up the broth. Altho they were fresh, the quality was nothing compared to Taylor Shellfish. For dinner, I had the King Ora salmon over a Walla Walla onion ring and a bed of corn. I had some of the crab roll & fries, and both were really good. The roll was packed w/ fresh crab, and the fries were cooked twice. Again the only downside was the $45 price. Regarding the ambiance, its nice in here. However, the "half shell" seats leave much to be desired. They are too tight for 4 people. I sat on the outside, and the person to my left kept hitting me w/ her knees: She is only 5 foot. It would be impossible for an average height person to sit next to me. Lauren R was a very good waitress. She was attentive, friendly and on top of things. On the other hand, the kitchen did not space our oysters well vs the mains. It took a long time to get our mains. Two other tables that ordered after us received their food before us (major pet peeve for me). 3.5 Stars overall. The food is pricey (nearly $100/each - one person had clam chowder and no one had alcohol), and the "half shell" seating doesn't work for me. However, the staff is friendly and the food tastes good. I'm on the fence if I would return.
